How would I code a button on a userform to request a password input before opening the form? And as a second level of protection - can I code it to only display asterick's when typing in the password.
I have coded a user form to automatically unprotect a sheet, then protect it with a password after data is entered from the User Form. Works great. However, after it is protected through the User Form script, I cannot unprotect the sheet to edit it. It will not recognize that it is the correct password, although it is.
Private Sub cmdOK_Click() Dim NextRow As Long NextRow = Application.WorksheetFunction.CountA(Range("b:b")) + 2 Cells(NextRow, 2) = txtAddProvider.Text ActiveSheet.Unprotect Password = "stats@fwh" Range("B3:B21").Select Selection.AutoFilter Selection.AutoFilter ActiveWorkbook.Worksheets("Lists").AutoFilter.Sort.SortFields.Clear ActiveWorkbook.Worksheets("Lists").AutoFilter.Sort.SortFields.Add Key:=Range( _ "B3:B21"), SortOn:=xlSortOnValues, Order:=xlAscending, DataOption:= _ xlSortNormal With ActiveWorkbook.Worksheets("Lists").AutoFilter.Sort .Header = xlYes .MatchCase = False .Orientation = xlTopToBottom .SortMethod = xlPinYin .Apply End With ActiveSheet.Protect Password = "stats@fwh" End Sub
I'm trying to use the Tools|VBA Project Properties dialog box to stop folks from unhiding an xlveryhidden sheet, but even though I check the "lock" checkbox and input passwords in the password and the password verify boxes, Visual Basic fails to stop me from selecting the sheet in question from an Alt-F11 spawned VBA, and editing away.
Im trying to protect worksheets in a document by licking...Tools>Protection>Protect Sheet. I am also wanting to password porotect it but every time I think I have protected it, i can still click in all the cells, there are some cells that can be left unprotected....but either way I have not manged to do either.
I have set up a workbook with a tab for each month. in the workbook open module i have the following code (below marked Password protect) that allows for three passwords to unlock certain ranges of cells, what i would like to do is for this code to apply to each worksheet.
Now in the main this works except for one range of cells H11 to H1000, on every sheet all cells are locked except for this range which is unlocked in every sheet except sheet one when you enter the password staff. The only other code i have is for a time stamp (marked time stamp) so that i can monitor when the user has entered data. this again has reference to the sheet name.
their must be something really straight forwad i am doing wrong here as everything works on an sheets except this range being locked.
I am in excel 2002 but my users are on 98, which is why i am protecting in VB rather than using the prtect range option.
I'm new to the message board so I'm not sure if this question has been addressed. I am creating an excel workbook that two groups need to provide data for, but I do not want the two groups to see each other's tab for inputing data. I know how to protect a sheet in the workbook, but a viewer can still see the contents on the sheet. Is there a way to show the tabs, but when you click on them, it automatically asks for a password before the tab contents can be viewed.
How can I password protect a certain range of cells (titled 'list'), that when someone tries to edit them, a password dialogue box appears, saying only bob can edit these cells please enter password
I am using some VBA I found here to password protect a hidden sheet. It works perfectly for 1 sheet, but I am trying to hide 6 but am having problems. Under the HideSheets part I've modified it fine, by using
Sub HideSheets() 'Set worksheet to Very Hidden so that it can only be unhidden by a macro Worksheets("Confidential1").Visible = xlSheetVeryHidden Worksheets("Confidential2").Visible = xlSheetVeryHidden Worksheets("Confidential3").Visible = xlSheetVeryHidden End Sub.........
Macros are just not my strong suit. I can usually find my answers here but this one has me stumped. I have rewritten this thing everywhich way but loose and this is my latest version.
Sub SetProtect() ' ' protect Macro ' prompts for password protection ' ' Keyboard Shortcut: Ctrl+p ' Dim Response As String Dim Answer As Integer
SetProtect:
Response = InputBox("Enter password") If Response = "safety2" Then.......
I've found many resources that tell me how to allow for the insertion/editing of comments within a protected worksheet. When I protect the worksheet, I can select "Edit objects" to allow anyone to insert comments.
However, my issue is that I'd like the Insert/Edit comment functionality to require a password, and this happens to be the opposite of what those resources instruct. I also want the content in those same cells to be editable by anyone.
I have a Database and user form, in the user form i have a field named “Vehicle No” this is a combo box from which a user needs to select the Vehicle numbers, and all these are working fine now, I need your help in the following:
When user selects the second field named "Select Vendor name" i need a pop up window which shows all the Vehicles belongs to the vendor which they have selected, and with the popup window user selects the vehicle number then the Vehicle number combo box should be filled.
Currently users have to select by scrolling through Combo box which takes long time and difficult to find by scrolling.
I have a user form that has a combo box "City" two text boxes one called "Flight" and the other "Date". What I'm trying to do is to prevent the user from saving the data input from the user form if any of those three fields is left blank. The code that I have so far checks all of the required fields, if any are left blank a message notifys which field(s) is left blank and return the focus back to that field. But the rest of code also fires.
What I really need is either to stop the code if any fields are blank and return the focus back to the blank field, the user completes the field(s) and clicks the save again, or better yet, pause the code until all the required fields are completed and then complete the save. (There is actually another 200+ lines of code in this sub, but I deleted it to keep the post a little shorter.)
I have created a registration workbook for this year's youth sports league. All of the information is entered into a User Form and separated onto it's appropriate sheet designated by the child's age. Next year, I would like to use this year's workbook to look up returning players.
Will it be possible to add a "lookup" button into my form, or create a lookup program, that once the registrar clicks on the correct player, the information is plugged into the User Form, the registrar adjusts the age and any necessary info, presses enter, and the information is copied into the appropriate category in the new workbook? I haven't worked with User Forms long enough to know if they can be filled in that way, but if this can be done, you are the people who would know.
I'm using a series of user forms for data entry to a workbook, some of them open next stage user form on completion (OK cmd button).
All that is working fine, but I'd like the initial form to close on showing the next one. I've tried adding Unload and Hide commands following the frmInsertEntry.Show (Next stage form), to no avail, but I'd like this user form to close or hide at the end of the sub.
Private Sub cmdContinueType_Click()
ActiveWorkbook.Sheets("Records").Activate 'Select starting cell in record sheet Range("N3").Select
Do If IsEmpty(ActiveCell) = False Then ' Search for next empty cell ActiveCell.Offset(1, 0).Select End If Loop Until IsEmpty(ActiveCell) = True
If optDrillType = True Then frmDrillEntry.Show Else frmInsertEntry.Show End If
I have a 3 2 user forms, plus a calandar pop-up user form. One is a Log In Screen with a user id combo box and a password textbox referenced to ranges in a very-hidden sheet.
My second form is a spend tracker with mulitple fileds, text boxes, combo boxes, etc.
One of the fields in the spend tracker is user name, what I would like to do is when a user enters their user name and password the entered user name as long as it matches one in the database be populated in the user name field and not allow it to be edited. Is there a way to do this, if so, what is the code and where do I put it.
I will attach my file so you can check it out. Log in: tester
I want to create a simple form for employees to enter their number of hours worked for the day. Driver name, Start Time, Finish Time and date. I need this information to populate an excel spreadsheet but I don't want the employees to be able to view the data that is being put in. Also possibly throw an error if the same employee accidentally enters their information twice.
I have made an excel sheet for multiple choice questions, in which person needs to click on submit button after completing with the test & pop up will say "Your score is__". Now, I want to want to add one more button named "Reset". I want below :
results:
1. Person should not be able to make any changes after clicking on "Submit" button.
2. If one tries to click on "Reset" button, it should ask for password.
3. After keying password for "Reset" button, all questions should be reset so that next person can give test.
I have attached an example excel sheet for reference : DoM1.xlsm‎
I making a data entry form that sereval employees will be using. But what I need is data quality protection. My idea is to have a userform with a combo box. The employees would select there name from the combo box and then enter there personal password to get access to the data entry information, which will appear if the password is correct but kept hidden if password is incorrect. I have a example.xls without any code contain in it.
I have a code to verify the user name and password, what I want is counting the times the user enters wrong password and show a msgbox when he enters three continuous wrong passwords:
I have created the following lines which are part of a long code, the code is actually running without errors, but it is not showing the msgbox,
My macros are set up with hard-coded passwords to protect and unprotect the sheets where they run.
But I need a way for the macros to refer to a user-provided password without having the user edit the macos themselves. The simplist approach (I suppose) would be to have a worksheet for this with a cell for the user to enter the password he/she wants. The macro protect/unprotect code would then look at the cell to get the password.
I have a workbook which contains multiple worksheets of employees' information. I'm hoping to share this workbook out. Each employee only able to view and update their own worksheet and their manager, being able to view/update everything within the workbook.
I have an input box for a password, and my vb code checks the password against a list, and if it is correct allows the user to continue. I want to change the input box for a user form, as it allows more text on the form, and I also want to include a checkbox that the user must tick to show that they have read and understood the instructions. I have defined the form, but am having trouble getting the form to interpret the user input.
The form has one checkbox, which needs to be ticked to continue, otherwise give a message saying that you have to confirm. It also has one textbox, for the user to input the password. I dont understand how to name the contents of the text box, and use it in the following code. Also do I need a "send" button on the user form, for the user to click after entering the password. If so how does that work?
I'm trying to write what is supposed to be a simple script that looks at a column of usernames (ColumnA) and passwords (ColumnB). I start off by prompting the user to enter their username in an input box and then I want a loop to check this value against the values in Column A. If the username exists, I want to prompt an input box for the password. If the username does not exist I need some kind of limit on the loop to prompt an input box for the user to enter a new username and password that I'll add to the last row of the data table. The loop part is kicking my butt, this is what I have so far...
Sub Main() Set StartRange = Worksheets("16.10"). Range("A1") username = InputBox("Please enter your username.", "Enter username", "Jdoe") i = 1 Do While StartRange.Offset(i, 0).Value <> "username" i = i + 1 Loop If StartRange.Offset(i, 0).Value = "username" Then password = InputBox("Please enter your password.", "Enter password", "password") End If End Sub
1: TextBox for Input Username (txtUsernameIn) 2: TextBox for Input Password (txtPasswordIn) 3) Submit Button (cmdSubmit1)
I have a Worksheet ColA: Username ColB: Password And this entire Range A:B, I have named "UserRegister"
I have code, attached to the cmdSubmit1 button on my UserForm. The purpose is to allow access to a veryhidden Worksheet "ADMIN".
The code 'works' if I enter in both the correct UserName and Password (ie: the code completes & Admin sheet opens up).
The code 'works' if I enter in the correct UserName and the wrong password (ie: code completes it's run, my msg pops up to say there is wrong input, unloads the form & sheet ADMIN stays veryhidden).
However, if I enter the wrong username (with either right or wrong password) the code breaks and I get a debug error. I know my code is obviously wrong/missing something etc - but I can't work it out! The line of code highlighted on the break, is between the *** below
VB: Private Sub cmdSubmit1_Click() Dim Username As String Username = txtUserNameIn.Text Dim password As String password = txtPasswordIn.Text
I need to create a user form that will "pop up" and ask the administrator to enter the above details.
A - should be created automatically (ie last claim number + 1) B - user enters manually C - data retrieved from a list D - data retrieved from a list E - date is the date the information is entered
