Pivot Charts Conditional Formatting?

Feb 6, 2014

I am trying to find a way to write a code in VBA to conditional format Bars on a pivot chart to change colors based on if the field beats the forecast field.

I am attaching the sheet which explains it better.

I would like the bar series in the chart to show green if it beat forecast and red if it didn't.

I want the macro to do this for all the pivot charts.

Apply Conditional Formatting To Bars In Bar Charts

Aug 29, 2006

I have created an excel file that contains a lot of worksheets which contain a lot of raw data and charts. There are 5 different tabs for 5 different companies. Each tab currently contains only 1 year of raw data for that company. Then I have another excel worksheet that has nothing but charts on it. Each chart is a bar chart that shows each of the 5 companies. It also shows the current rate for the month for each company and the 12 month average for each company. On the chart there are also 3 lines. There is a standard line that we try to meet each month. There is also a line for the upper control limit and a line for the lower control limit. Here is my problem:

The 2 bar charts (current rate for the month & the 12 month average) are created and updated by the raw data in each of the 5 data sheets.

Based upon the values in each of the cells that create and update the bars on the charts themselves:
I want the bars to be RED if the values are below the lower control limit.

And I want the bars to be GOLD if the values are above the upper control limit.

And I want the bars to be green if the values are in between the upper and lower control limits.

Conditional Formatting Of Pivot Table Through VB

Jun 22, 2014

writing VB code to conditionally-format the pivot table shown here (I am not inclined to use the Excel Conditional formatting option as it loses the formatting when refreshing the pivot table)

Excel_screenshot1.png

I need a VB macro that reads each value in a Pivot table .. starting with the Col1, Row1 of the Pivot table .

It then matches the value in Col 1, Row1 to the Baseline value for Col 1 that is specified in (Yellow ) .

Note : The Baseline values are not part of the Pivot table area

If the value in in the Col 1, Row1 is less than the baseline value for that column at the top ,it formats the font color of that pivot table cell (say to red) It then moves to read the value in Col 1, Row2 and does the same check .

Once it completes the check on all values in Col 1, it does the same with Col 2 (where the values are compared to the baseline value for Col 2) ... and so on until all the colums of the PIvor table are validated in the same manner .

Conditional Formatting In Pivot Table?

May 15, 2012

I am using Excel for Mac 2011. I am trying to conditionally format the cells that apply to each row in the table with the exception of the grand total (listed as the bottom row). Depending on the filter applied by the user, the number of rows can go from 1 to 10. I have seen where some people have applied based on whether the cell showed a sum of some component in the source data. I am looking for this within the Mac version and have not found it. Do I need to write something in VBA to format it after refresh?

Conditional Formatting Colorindex Error In Pivot Table

May 24, 2007

Below is some code I am trying to run. What I would like to do is select a certain "data row" in the pivot, and apply some conditional formatting to that. It works just fine until I reach the .colorindex = 3 line. It says I'm getting an application/object defined. how to fix this? I'm on Excel 2007. This was fine on 2000!

pvtCurrent.PivotSelect "'% Dist'", xlDataAndLabel
With Selection
With .Interior
.ColorIndex = 36
.Pattern = xlSolid
.PatternColorIndex = xlAutomatic
End With

With .FormatConditions.Add(xlCellValue, xlBetween, "0", "0.97")
With .Font
.Bold = True
.ColorIndex = 3
End With
End With
End With

Pivot Table Conditional Formatting Lost On Update

However everytime I update the table the formatting gets lost. Conditional Formatting To Apply To All Cells In A Column In Pivot Table

Apr 25, 2014

I am having trouble getting some conditional formatting to apply to all cells in a column in a pivot table. Currently, the conditional formatting is only applying to the top level items in the pivot but is not applying to the lower level items. I can see why it is doing this. the range in "Applies to" is only specifying the rows that contain the top level items. I tried to change the range to D10:D647 but, it reverts back to just the top level items. How to get it to apply to everything?

Excel 2007 :: Conditional Formatting To Compare Two Pivot Tables

May 27, 2013

it's possible to set up conditional formatting to compare values between two identically-formatted (i.e. same row and column) pivot tables?

I have two pivots from two different sources and I want to be able to visually identify discrepancies between the two. Both have dates as the row labels (same date range) and categories as column labels (some categories may not necessarily be present on both pivots but the format of the labels - i.e., the names of the categories - is consistent where there is overlap)

I've tried doing this with 'traditional' CF but whenever I manipulate the pivots (i.e. by selecting / deselecting an item in a report filter), the movement of the columns trashes the formatting and I have to set it all up again.

Figured, given the structure of the tables is essentially the same, there might be a smarter way of doing it (by referencing the pivot fields in some way)

Pivot Charts Versus Charts

I have some code that will work if the pivot tables stay stagnic but the users may change the tables around so that could be an issue of new data. I have the following code where I changed the source to the pivot table name (general name because of numberous report possibilites). I have taken out the other charts because they are just a variation of the chart 1. I am crashing on the line with the * on it.

Dim oChart As Chart

Excel 2010 :: Pivot Table Conditional Formatting - Highlight ENTIRE Row

Aug 16, 2013

I am using Excel 2010. I have a pivot table where I want to highlight the ENTIRE row where a certain cell value equals something.

In essence I want all the Material Subtotal Rows highlighted "Orange" But as you can tell from the picture below I am having issues with the Body of the Pivot table. I have the formula checking to find whenever it finds the word total to highlight it.

The example below is showing how I need the row to be formatted. I can get the Data (Units) section formatted no problem. It is just the other part of the pivot table that I cannot format.

For the columns from Material to SAP # I have been trying to use Dynamic Name ranges using the Offset function. However, excel turns that Name range to a range and if I filter the pivot table, it adds extra ranges to the Applies to box and starts to really mess it up.

Months To Be Sorted In Ascending Order In Pivot Table, Want To Use Multiple Colors In Pivot Charts

Sep 18, 2008

My input data for Pivot table has a column named "Month". The month values are like April 07, April 08, Nov07 in random order for period between Jan 07 to Aug 08.

When I create a pivot Table, this column is sorted alphabetically (April 07 is followed by April 08) but I need it to be sorted in the ascending order with respect to month (April 07 is followed by May 07).

I further use this data to plot a Pivot Chart. There is another issue here. I want to use separate colors for each series. I do not know how to achieve above 2 things.

Pivot Charts Automation

Sep 16, 2009

pivot chart automation. I have a tab that contains thousands of rows and it grows larger on a weekly basis. On this tab is 169 peices of hardware I manage. Each week 1 row of data is added to all 169 peices of hardware. The data from the main tab contains metrics I need to chart. However, I am in need of a way of selecting a specific peice of hardware and having the pivot charts update automatically. There will be 26 Charts and going through each chart and selecting the proper hardware is going to take far too long.

Is there any way i can select just 1 peices of hardware from the data tab and have it populate all of these charts?

Seperate Pivot Charts By Date

I have some monthly figures that's I need to put into a charts, and I want separate charts for each months data. People add to the list of figures almost every day.

Do I need to put the data in different sheets (Aug, Sep etc), with different tables and charts, or is the a way you can keep it all in one list, and filter it so each months figures get populated in their own chart?

I did try putting the data in separate sheets and making new charts for each one, but it made my file really big. Also as some months are yet to come, the blank sheets were making the charts mess up.

Multiple Pivot Charts On One Sheet

For each of the pivot tables, I would like to have a separate pivot chart. In the pivot charts, when I click "Select Data", I find that the "Chart Data Range" for the pivot chart is grey (uneditable). Is there some setting that I need to toggle to enable the data source range so that I can change it? Also, when I try adding a new pivot chart to the sheet, this option is also grey/unavailable.

Speedier Copying 120 Pivot Charts Into MSWord

Dec 15, 2006

My column chart is produced by a pivot table & pivot chart and then I manually select each regions code, and paste the associated graph into word 120 times over. This is extremely tedious.

Although there is facility for SHOW PAGES on a pivot table, I don't seem to be able to find an equivalent built in function for pivot charts.

I've tried locating my pivot chart on the same page as my pivot table and then hitting show pages, but it only reproduces the pivot table.

If I could even get a graph on each tab for each region - I could at least PDF the excel file as a complete report by selecting all the tabs and printing them into a single PDF file.

Formatting Charts With Different Data Types

Jan 3, 2012

I have three items I would like to graph, on one chart. The first is %Complete. This is a number figure. The next is the date the item is due to ship. Obv, this is a Date. The third is today's date. Basically, I would like to display in the same chart so that we can see how far a long a project is, in relation with today's date and how much longer we have until it needs to ship.

This is the current display of the chart:

Is there a way to show the ship date, as the 100% complete mark? In order to make it display half-way decent, I had to format the left y-axis to go above 100%. I first tried to format the right y-axis, but was extremely confused to setting values. I figured out that the end date is somewhere in the 40,000 value mark? WTF is this about? Is 1 equal to 24 hours? I assumed that was the case, but then when I pick the value it should end with, it doesn't seem to react that way. I want the right axis to start with 12/01/2011 and end with 5/01/2012. How can I achieve this?

Copy / Move Slicer Linked Pivot Charts To New Workbook

Mar 15, 2013

I have a Reporting workbook I designed. There is a "Parent" workbook with the following design.

It has 6 Pivot Tables on a Sheet called "Data"

It has 6 Pivot Charts that were created from these tables on a page called "Summary"

These 6 Pivot Charts are all linked through a pair of slicers.

There is a "control" page which has instructions and buttons that trigger "Refresh All" and "Create Child Workbok".

This design is so that someone unfamiliar with excel could conceivably create the final product.

Essentially I have written/put together VBA to Create a new workbook "child" which has should be a funcitoning copy of the "parent".

The problem is the copiedmoved (I have tried both) Pivot Charts no longer update/refresh when the pivot tables change. I have script that reconnects the Pivot Tables to the Slicers. Slicers are fully funcitonal. Links in cells are fully functional.

Some of this code might look familiar.

Code:

Sub createWB()
' Copies VBA modules, Calls
Dim wbNew As Workbook, wbT As Workbook
Set wbT = ActiveWorkbook
On Error Resume Next
Kill ("PATHmod1.bas")
Kill ("PATHmod2.bas")

[code].....
