Remove Selected Area

Apr 17, 2007

I need to worked out Hours worked in a timesheet. This was the easy part, the hard part is the clause tha HR threw in, which is:

If you have worked and 8 hour day WITH 1 hr lunch then you qualify for overtime.
if you work a 8 hr day and work through your lunch (1 hour) (so equivelant to 9 hrs) you still do NOT qualify for overtime there for Overtime = 0.

This is cause some people work though their lunch to get overtime, but legally they have to have a break so we are not paying overtime for it. I have basically tried in a formula to replicate this but it works with some data and not with all. attached is an example, as you'll see the formula works in some cells, but not others.

Refer To The Last Row In A Selected Area Using VBA..?

Nov 3, 2008

I'm trying to do is add a signature box (for inventory-taking accountability) directly below the pasted area after I paste it. Now, of course, the copied and pasted area could have 5 rows or it could have 15, and when I copy it from the first sheet and paste it into the second it doesn't preserve the name of the range on the second page, so what I really need to do to add the signature box directly below the last row in the pasted area is specify the location in relation to the last row in the pasted selection, but I don't know how to do that. Using ActiveCell always refers to the top-left-most cell in the selected area. So...

If I have an area selected, how do I refer to the bottom-right-most cell in that selection (in the same way that ActiveCell refers to the top-left-most cell)? Or at least the bottom row? Or, even better, the row below the bottom row?

Group Shapes In A Certain Selected Area

I don't think this is possible, but I thought I would ask.

I have buttons on a sheet.

Then I have drawings, that I make, using different shapes.

Instead of selecting all shapes on the sheet, I want to just select the shapes in a range say B17:F28 so I can group them.

Remove Print Area Link?

Mar 18, 2013

I have a workbook with macro code which creates another workbook and then copies the formatting from the active sheet to the new workbook (single sheet). Once the formatting has been copied, the new workbook has a print area reference to a separate worksheet in the original workbook.

I have tried clearing the print area using the button on the Page Layout ribbon, but it has no effect. If I check links I find a link to the original workbook.

The only way I have found to break this link is to add a new print area on the new workbook. This does not remove the earlier print area reference, but it does break the link.

I find this all rather bizzare. No doubt there is a perfectly rational explanation. What I would like is some code that will remove this reference to the unrelated worksheet in the original workbook.

Data On Clipboard Is Not Same Size And Shape As Selected Area?

Dec 15, 2013

How to turn off or default the warning box message ...

"Data on the Clipboard is not the same size and shape as the selected area. Do you want to paste the data anyway"

I hate having to click yes on this every time I paste something. I do it hundreds of times a day.

My tables is centered and merged because my external date changes sizes each time I paste to the table.

I have looked all over to try and find an "OFF" warning/message button for this. I just want to know how to turn it off or default it to never pop up again!

Dim row As Double
Dim col As Double

Else:

Graph The Following Data In An Area Chart With Line Charts Superimposed On The Area Chart

Nov 1, 2006

I am trying to graph the following data in an area chart with line charts superimposed on the area chart. I have a lot of data (and a lot going on) so I'm trying to figure out the best way to show this in excel from a functional standpoing (i can't get this to work in excel!!) to also an asthetic standpoint (dont want it to look terrible or illegible). This is what I'm trying to chart:

1) Weather data (temperature) by region:
So one region, would be: Northwest
I would like the "area" (so a shaded region) to be the min/max of the temperature data for each month.

2) I would like to show the temperature for each year as a line graph on the chart - so you can see if a year falls in or out of the shaded region.

3) I would like to show a company's sales increases across the same months per year as separate line charts. I may choose to just show the biggest outlier year in the end... or to show 2006 (the latest data).

What I am trying to convery with the chart is that the company's sales is or is not tied to weather deviations. I have attached an excel file with the data. I haven't been able to use the area chart or get a two axis chart to work or get it to look even remotely professional.

How To Set Fixed Print Area In Excel So Cells Within Print Area Can Still Be Modified

Fill Range Of Cells With Text When Listbox Option Selected - Clear When Not Selected

Jul 25, 2014

I am using this code to hide or unhide rows of text on another sheet:

VB:
Sub ProcessSheet1ChangeOnCellJ7(ByVal Target As Range)

Dim sAddress As String
Dim sValue As String

'Get the address of the cell that changed without '$' signs
sAddress = Target.Address(False, False)

[Code]....

When the "Not Pursuing" list box option is selected (in cell "J7" or "J8" in Sheet 1) I need to add (or over-write) "Not Pursuing" to the range of cells in column "B" (in the "Tasks" sheet), but only for that particular Goal, meaning a limited range of cells in column "B". If the "Pursuing - Show All Tasks" option is selected for a Goal then these same cells need to be blank so that the appropriate person can enter their name into the cell.

The purpose for adding "Not Pursuing" automatically to these yellow highlighted cells is that it will facilitate filtering of tasks by individual in the "Tasks" sheet..

Again I have tried several times to upload a sample file and am unable to, which I know makes it more difficult to solve. (Is there some common mistake people make? I know it's an allowed format and is very small in file size....)

Code solution can be entered directly beneath:

VB:
If Target.Value = "Not Pursuing" Then
ActiveWorkbook.Sheets("Tasks").Rows("29:29").EntireRow.Hidden = False
ActiveWorkbook.Sheets("Tasks").Rows("30:48").EntireRow.Hidden = True

Elseif Statement In Vba: If The Selected Cell Falls Between 1/01/06 And 31/01/06 Then Jan Would Be Selected

Basically it is a if statement saying that if the selected cell falls between 1/01/06 and 31/01/06 then Jan would be selected. The end part is not a problem; I’m just not sure how to write the one line of code that would test if the cell falls between the two dates. I attemped to create it as shown in the code attached below but wasn't successful. I used an else if statement to test the other 11 months.

Set SelectDate = Range("SelectedDate")
If selectedDate >= 1 / 1 / 2006 And selectedDate <= 31 / 1 / 2006 Then

"Jan"
ElseIf selectedDate >= 1 / 2 / 2006 And selectedDate <= 28 / 2 / 2006 Then

ActiveSheet.PivotTables("PivotTable1").PivotFields("PnLDate").CurrentPage = _

Remove Non-alpha Characters From Alphanumerics With Option To Remove Numbers

Aug 8, 2009

I have found a very useful UDF for removing non-alpha characters from strings. (See below, Credit for posting to Stanley D Grom - Ozgrid post ´Removing Non-alpha Characters From Text´).

Option Explicit

Private Function RemoveCharacters(InString As String) As String
Dim intLoopCounter As Integer
Dim intStringLength As Integer
Dim intASCIIVal As Integer
intStringLength = Len(InString)
InString = LCase(InString)
For intLoopCounter = 1 To intStringLength
intASCIIVal = Asc(Mid(InString, intLoopCounter, 1))
If intASCIIVal >= 97 And intASCIIVal <= 122 Then
RemoveCharacters = RemoveCharacters + Mid(InString, intLoopCounter, 1)
End If
Next intLoopCounter
End Function

Two requests:

1. Could the UDF be modified such that any part of a string contained within brackets is also removed (e.g. "NLGA High Street (West-Enfield), EN6" becomes "nlgahighstreeten")?

2. Can an argument be added to the format of the UDF, such that numbers (0 to 9) are either included or excluded (e.g. RemoveCharacters(A1,1) where the argument ´1´ would include any numbers (0 to 9), so "NLGA2003 High Street (West-Enfield), EN6" becomes "nlga2003highstreeten6")? ´blank´or ´0´would exclude these numbers, i.e. would return "nlgahighstreeten"

Copy Selected Rows & Insert As Many Times As Rows Selected

Feb 6, 2008

The following code inserts a row below the selected row, and copies the formula of the row above into it.

Dim Rw As Integer
Rw = ActiveCell.Row
Selection.Insert Shift:=xlDown
Rows("" & Rw - 1 & ":" & Rw - 1 & "").Copy
Rows("" & Rw & ":" & Rw & "").Paste

However, I need to alter this to work for inserting more than one row at a time. ie. the user selects 'x' number of rows and 'x' rows are inserted below (in the same way 'Insert Row' works in Excel) and the row above the selection is copied down.

row 1 to 100 column b:

Specifying Area Of Worksheet

1)I am trying to specify the area of a worksheet, for example columns a-z and rows 1-1000 but I am having great difficulty in doing this. I have tried selecting the last row and shift>end>down, Edit >all then Edit>delete but nothing happens. The screen just flickers and all the rows are still there. Even specifying the print area does not do it. Any answers?

2) Any ideas how to sum a datalist by text in a box? I.e if there are 1000 rows selected how amny are filled. If there is a way of selecting 'any text' this would work but there is no constant value/text to use.

BTW I am using Excel 2000

Print Area Always Changes -

Oct 2, 2007

I use the code below to print a portion of a sheet. My problem is that the area always changes. The $A$476 should be the first cell in that column that contains "HEA" The "536" in $F$536 is the last row that contains data. There are conditional formats all the way down to row 1,000 but not data

Private Sub CommandButton1_Click()
Dim strCurrentPrinter As String, strNetworkPrinter As String
****strNetworkPrinter = GetFullNetworkPrinterName("Adobe PDF")
****If Len(strNetworkPrinter) > 0 Then ' found the network printer
********strCurrentPrinter = Application.ActivePrinter
********' change to the network printer
********Application.ActivePrinter = strNetworkPrinter
********ActiveSheet.PageSetup.PrintArea = "$A$476:$F$536"
********ActiveSheet.PrintOut** 'print something
********' change back to the previously active printer
********Application.ActivePrinter = strCurrentPrinter
********ActiveSheet.PageSetup.PrintArea = ""
****End If
End Sub

Obviously there is a function also that finds the full network printer name, I didn't think it was important, because my issue is the print area. Everything else works fine. If you need it let me know and I will post it.
