I have a list of Hyperlinks in one column which have always a display name like:
Email
Homepage
Email
Homepage
etc.
Behind each Email or Homepage a Hyperlink is hidden. But for every Email address in my file the "text to display" is Email. find a macro which deletes all display names and shows me the hyperlink like this:
Peter@xyz.de
www.google.de
Carl.True@hotmail.com
www.msn.de
I have copied a webpage into excel It contains URL javascript link.
a) I wonder if I can copy this link out without keystroking each row.
b) When I point at the link, a few numbers come out. I want to extract these number out.
I am thinking of creating a macro so that it can be performed automatically because I have more than 300 rows.
I have a exel file which has been exported from Access to exel. There are many cells which shows the data as in Cell A1 with the Linefeed character in between data in a cell. Is there any way (may be using a macro) where I can remove the character and get it to display as B1 in the same cell(A1). The file is attached herewith.
View 5 Replies View RelatedOn exporting information from another database to excel the fields which are text in nature, these are always exported as with an apostrophe at the beginning of text into the excel cell. I can do nothing about this as the export to excel is a defined routine which i have no control over.
Unfortunately due to the amounts of data, I am handling 10,000 lines, the physical removal of this apostrophe at the beginning of the text in each cell is not a good way forward.
The apostrophe is to indicate it is a text string, I have tried edit find and replace looking for the apostrophe with no luck.
It is important for me to remove the apostrophe as it then allows the text which is in fact a hyperlink to be live

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a spreadsheet and within the first sheet there are lots of hyperlinks to other cells within sheet 1 (my template).
I have made a small macro which very basically makes a copy of sheet 1 (my template)
The hyperlinks in the template are explicit and as they are copied to sheet two, they still reference back to cells in sheet 1. I need the hyperlinks to be relative, so that when I make a copy of the template the hyperlinks are copied and make reference to cells in the new sheet. I cannot work out how this should be done

I've approached generating an array using an IF statement, as in =IF(INDEX(A1:A8="Company 5",,),INDEX(B1:B8,,)," "), which returns the following array: ={" ";" ";" ";" ";" ";" ";" ";"Country A";"Country C";"Country C";" ";" ";" ";" "}.
The question is: how do I get that array to produce, as text in a cell: "Country A, Country C". Note that the duplicate Country C has been removed.
There are a few "StringConcat" User-defined functions that I've found elsewhere on the internet, but they don't seem to be able to handle to conditionally generated IF Index array, which I would think is key to parsing between Countries corresponding to each Company in the list.
I am trying to auto-populate text in cells in area A, based on data I enter into other cells in area B. I want the area A cells to be for display only, as all editing will be done in area B. The problem is: how do I do this such that the text I write does not get cut off if is longer than the column width? It's a quarterly schedule for utility meter readers, divided up into days across the top, and routes/areas down the side.
There's a space with each route for the employee ID to go, depending on who's doing it.
Down the bottom of the sheet, there's a few empty lines for all the available employees who haven't been allocated to a route.
On the second sheet labelled EMP LIST, is all the employee IDs. It's also got the areas they work- it's for something I want to implement later.
I can put all the employees into a single column list, then use basic DV to give a dropdown menu by each route, to assign an employee to it. This is pretty straight forward. I've also been playing with this in combination with a countif, so that employees already assigned do not appear in the list.
This is about as far as I've managed to get with it.
I need to get the employees who aren't assigned to anything to appear in a list below the routes. I'm fairly sure this is just another countif, but I'm not 100% on the exact formulas.
I also need the list in the dropdown menu to reset for each day of the quarter, i.e. if I assign an employee to a route on the 30th day of the quarter, their ID will disappear from the list for any other route for that day, but will still be there for the other days of the quarter.
So far the only way I've managed to do this is by duplicating the employee list for every day of the quarter, which is going to get very cluttered, and also makes staffing changes difficult. I'm hoping there's an easier way to do this using one data set.
I've added an example of the sheet. It's one week and it's only got about 1/3 of the routes we would actually have on any given day.

I often get spread sheets to work with that have a non visable/printable character (') in front of them. I haven't been able to find a way to get rid of them other than editing each cell and removing it. I am sure there must be a way. I have attached a small sample of the cells in question.

I do however have many cells that contain a space between characters 5 and 7 and spaces at the end of the cell which have been padded out to 15 characters long.Its only the spaces at the end of the cells I need to remove.
I'm trying to find vehicle make and model in a cell containing a lot of text and then display that in the formula cell. For example if A1 is a paragraph that contains somewhere within it "Ford" & "Ranger". I want B1 to display "Ford" and C1 to display "Ranger". I have a list of vehicles makes (column A) and models (column B) on a seperate sheet.
View 2 Replies View RelatedGot a slight problem; I am making a "worker-plan", where you should be able to write a name on one file and have it updated (removed) from the equivalent columns on another file automatically. Here's an example with two separate projects:

You can see here how I intended it to work. When one worker is moved from Project 1 to Project 2, that worker should also be removed from those weeks in Project 1. The previous worker from Project 2 should also be removed from those weeks (in Project 2).
Are there any formulas that can make this work automatically? All week numbers will belong to the same columns in all files.
Edit: There are 30 files that should be syncronized, not just two.. I could also gather all files into one file with sheets, instead of having seperate files.
1) In any cell, I would like to remove "Area#xxxxxxxxx" (where x are random numbers).

2) I would like to remove x characters before a word.
Example : 2013-08-28.txt@INFO

I tried to play with the LEN and RIGHT/LEFT formula but so far, I can't get it to work... The idea is to parse some text and remove the part in red (I was thinking about using SUBSTITUTE).
I am exporting lots of data from a website and for some reason to do with html i am getting   in a few cells in my description column (column C), i think that means "& " in html. this occurs in some cells but not others when i paste it into Excel. I would like to remove these characters.
I know I can do it with crtl H and the replace field blank but I would like a formula so in the future the user will simply have to paste information and then get converted information out (as they will struggle to use excel).
I'm trying to convert variable length strings which are being copied from a display and loaded into an array.
I have it working fine for the majority of the data, which comes in looking like "*ABC@US" or "*AABC@US"
However, some of the data looks a bit different, particularly lacking the @ symbol. So what I end up with is
"*ABC US*ABC US*ABC US"
What I need to get to is just "ABC US" FYI the US part can be 1-5 characters.
SO... I need a way to truncate anything after the second instance of the asterisk. Haven't been able to get it to work using various trim, mid, len, left, right, etc functions.
I know how to remove the first part of a text, but not the end. I have a very large amount of data in which the first column contains a product description and then the UPC code. I need to isolate the product name from the UPC code into 2 columns. I used =RIGHT(B2,14) to isolate the UPC, but since the length of the product name varies, I'm not sure how to isolate the product name. I have looked at using the TRIM and TRUNC functions without any luck. 'Text to columns' doesn't work because I have multiple spaces, 'Text to columns' would work if I could used 2 digits as the delimiter, but the function doesn't allow that.
Can someone please suggest a function or formula for this?
