Advanced Filter Help To Remove Header

Jan 23, 2008

Sub filtertest()
Range("C17:L33").AdvancedFilter Action:=xlFilterCopy, CriteriaRange:= _
Range("C13:C14"), CopyToRange:=Sheets("Combined Summary").Range("B7")
End Sub

This works fine - it filters the data in C17:L33 on the source sheet and then copies it to the combined summary (beginning in cell B7) but when it copies the data it also copies the header row - i only want to the data to be copied? - how can i amend the above??

Also - there will be a few tables i'll be amending the above code to work on as i'll be pulling them into 1 summary - how can i amend the B7 section so that they paste into the next free row - because at present they will just past over one another?.........

Displaying Column Header Text In Other Cells

Oct 23, 2008

The basic spreadsheet consists of a list of names down the left hand side with 19 columns across - one for each art activity (I have pasted a copy of it below - but it doesn't paste so good!). Each person has selected their three activities and this has been recorded by placing a 1, 2 or 3 in the relative columns. Each person has been told that they will get a place on two out of three of their chosen activities (in which case we will change one of their choices to a 0).

What I would now like to be able to do is to create a mail merge in Word which looks at each person and then goes along that row to find out which columns have a 1, 2, or 3 in it. The heading for that column would then be used as a merge field so that I end up with a word document which looks something like this:

{Woodwork Stars} and {Cooking Sweets}

Candle
Centre Piece

Nativity Figures
Beaded
Decorations
Advent
Calendars
CrackerPaint

Can someone please telll me what I have to change in the code to make the code skip the header information (1st three line) when importing? Currently, if I use Jindon's code, it fails once it tries to import one of these text files. Here is Jindo's

myDir = "c: est" '<- change to actual folder path

Copying Column Header Text And Name Of Row To Another Worksheet If Criteria Not Met?

Apr 3, 2013

I have my students down the far left column (30 rows) and along the top for each worksheet is the criteria which they must be able to do. If my in row 2 completes the criteria text above in column 5 for example, then I input a 3 which then adds the points and works out their sub level scores. However I am now in need of it being able copy the criteria above if a student on any row has a T(for target) in that box. I would then like that criteria to be copied to a master sheet which displays their name down the side and all the targets they have for that subject in the next column, so that they can be referenced for their report summary worksheet.

Scan Row For Text - Return Row And Column Header Info

Jun 2, 2013

I've been using a nice colorful spreadsheet to use to schedule rooms for an organization. Visually it has worked out well but now I need to automatically generate a 'report' using that data. So...

I want to scan each row of a table and create another table with that data transformed.
That is, scan each row and whenever I find any text in a cell I want to return that text (the room being used) as well as the row and column header information (who is starting to use that room and on what date). I've attached a jpeg to show the example.

Ideally, when I scan the row and find text to return the headers I'd like the row scan to also find when the fill color changes and return that column header, too as that that would be the date that the room stops being used.

Convert Array Into Text And Remove Duplicate Entries From Text In Cell?

Jun 12, 2014

I have the following two columns, and would like to obtain for each individual Company, the corresponding Country values excluding duplicates as text in a single cell.

Company 2Country B
Company 2Country C
Company 3Country C
Company 3Country C
Company 5Country A
Company 5Country C
Company 5Country C

For example:
- For Company 2, a cell containing "Country B, Country C"
- For Company 3, a cell containing "Country C"
- For Company 5, a cell containing "Country A, Country C"

I've approached generating an array using an IF statement, as in =IF(INDEX(A1:A8="Company 5",,),INDEX(B1:B8,,)," "), which returns the following array: ={" ";" ";" ";" ";" ";" ";" ";"Country A";"Country C";"Country C";" ";" ";" ";" "}.

The question is: how do I get that array to produce, as text in a cell: "Country A, Country C". Note that the duplicate Country C has been removed.

There are a few "StringConcat" User-defined functions that I've found elsewhere on the internet, but they don't seem to be able to handle to conditionally generated IF Index array, which I would think is key to parsing between Countries corresponding to each Company in the list.

VBA Loop Through Worksheet And Format Each Column As Text, Or Date Based On Header

Jun 30, 2006

I am trying to figure out a way to condense my code (improve my code) Right now I am using a Macro in Excel to go through a workbook by selecting each column individually and if there is something in the header then formatting that column as text. The problem with the way I am currently doing it, is that due to size limitations on the VBA code, I can only select columns A to Z, and if there is more data in the worksheet it is not formatted. Also I would like the code to check the header and if the word date is in there, format it as a date instead. Also if there is a way to delete any invalid ranges in the workbook

Sub Format()
Dim VarFileName As String
Dim VarPath As String
Dim VarSavein As String
Dim wsheet As Worksheet
VarSavein = Sheets("sheet1").Range("C2").Value
VarFileName = Sheets("sheet1").Range("A2").Value
VarPath = Sheets("sheet1").Range("B2").Value
Workbooks.Open VarPath & VarFileName
For Each wsheet In ActiveWorkbook.Worksheets
Sheets(wsheet.Name).Select
Columns("A:A").Select
Selection.TextToColumns Destination:=Range("A1"), DataType:=xlDelimited, _
TextQualifier:=xlDoubleQuote, ConsecutiveDelimiter:=False, Tab:=True, _
Semicolon:=False, Comma:=False, Space:=False, Other:=False, FieldInfo _
:= Array(1, 2), TrailingMinusNumbers:=True..........................................

Insert Text To One File - Remove Text From Equivalent Column In Another File?

Aug 13, 2013

Got a slight problem; I am making a "worker-plan", where you should be able to write a name on one file and have it updated (removed) from the equivalent columns on another file automatically. Here's an example with two separate projects:

Project 1 before and after changes:
Attachment 257366
Attachment 257367

Project 2 before and after changes:
Attachment 257368
Attachment 257369

You can see here how I intended it to work. When one worker is moved from Project 1 to Project 2, that worker should also be removed from those weeks in Project 1. The previous worker from Project 2 should also be removed from those weeks (in Project 2).

Are there any formulas that can make this work automatically? All week numbers will belong to the same columns in all files.

Edit: There are 30 files that should be syncronized, not just two.. I could also gather all files into one file with sheets, instead of having seperate files.

How To Remove Specific Text Before A Character

May 5, 2014

1) In any cell, I would like to remove "Area#xxxxxxxxx" (where x are random numbers).

Example : "INFO Log - [sys] Area#541185471Character#46545"

2) I would like to remove x characters before a word.

Example : 2013-08-28.txt@INFO

I would need to remove 14 characters before the character "@".

I tried to play with the LEN and RIGHT/LEFT formula but so far, I can't get it to work... The idea is to parse some text and remove the part in red (I was thinking about using SUBSTITUTE).

How To Remove Text After The Second Instance Of An Asterisk?

Jun 18, 2009

I'm trying to convert variable length strings which are being copied from a display and loaded into an array.

I have it working fine for the majority of the data, which comes in looking like "*ABC@US" or "*AABC@US"

However, some of the data looks a bit different, particularly lacking the @ symbol. So what I end up with is

"*ABC US*ABC US*ABC US"

What I need to get to is just "ABC US" FYI the US part can be 1-5 characters.

SO... I need a way to truncate anything after the second instance of the asterisk. Haven't been able to get it to work using various trim, mid, len, left, right, etc functions.

Remove 14 Digits From The END Of Text In A Column

Jul 9, 2009

I know how to remove the first part of a text, but not the end. I have a very large amount of data in which the first column contains a product description and then the UPC code. I need to isolate the product name from the UPC code into 2 columns. I used =RIGHT(B2,14) to isolate the UPC, but since the length of the product name varies, I'm not sure how to isolate the product name. I have looked at using the TRIM and TRUNC functions without any luck. 'Text to columns' doesn't work because I have multiple spaces, 'Text to columns' would work if I could used 2 digits as the delimiter, but the function doesn't allow that.

Can someone please suggest a function or formula for this?

Here is an examples of how the text appears in the field. (Note: I only need to cut off the UPC code, I need the measure information to stay).

some really long product name 12 oz 5 bag 09-99999-99999
another shorter name 2 oz 09-99999-99998
