How To Restrict View For Users Of Spreadsheet

Feb 9, 2014

I've written a spreadsheet for others to use, protected it (except for cells where data input is required). Almost like an App for sales people to prepare quotes. I want it to appear fullscreen only with formula bars and headings permanently hidden so feels the experience for the User is similar to an App.

How To Restrict Users From Logging More Than Once In Excel

Nov 7, 2011

I am doing an excel survey using forms. I want to restrict users from completing the survey more than once. i am using below code to input user login details in to a spreadsheet but i am not sure how to restrict them. I want a msgbox or some sort and then it closes the excel active workbook.

code to get username:
Sub GetName
Dim r As Range
Set r = Sheets("UserNames").Range("A" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Offset(1, 0)

r.Value = Environ("username")
r.Offset(0, 1).Value = Date
r.Offset(0, 2).Value = Time

End Sub

After looking through various forums i found code to highlight duplicates but not sure how this can be modified to suit my need.

Code to find duplicates:
Sub Dups()

Application.ScreenUpdating = False
Sheets("UserNames").Range("A1:A500").Select
Rng = Selection.Rows.Count

Editting Macro To Select Last Empty Column To Paste Data

Nov 30, 2008

I have a macro that automatically takes data from one sheet, copies it and pastes it on another sheet, but I want it to select the empty column that is to the right of the last column to contain data (so basically the next empty column). What code would I enter into editting my macro to be able to do this please?

Also, one thing I've tried to do with my macro is that when I select the data, it's suppose to select from the first name to the last. When doing the actions for the macro, I use "Ctrl + Shift + Down Arrow Key" to make the selection select the bottom of the list. However, when running the macro, if the list is longer (or shorter), the macro selects that number of cells instead of the action of just going to the bottom of the list. For example, if during the actions of the macro, I recorded using the Ctrl + Shift + Down Arrow Key that 50 cells were selected...next time if I have 60 cells, only 50 are selected, even though I used an action command which should select all the cells in that group (in this case being 60). Is there some code I can add to that so this would work correctly?

In case its required, here is the code from the macro:

Linking Cells Globally To Allow Users Ability To Change Cells On Separate Sheet / Cells?

Feb 18, 2014

I have a workbook that uses the values that a user had entered into 3 cells to calculate multiple other charts/diagrams on multiple sheets within the workbook. Each sheet would show what the user had entered in the 3 cells to allow them to see what is being used to calculate each table. Is it possible to link these cells so that the user can change the 3 values without having to go back to where he originally entered the 3 values?

For example, a user has entered in 3 values in Sheet 1. A formula in Sheet 2 displays what is entered by the user and uses these calls in Sheet 2 for calculations. When the user wants to change the three values, he would have to navigate to Sheet 1 and enter in the new values to have the workbook recalculate all the tables. Is there a way to link the three cells from Sheet 1 and Sheet 2 so when the user is on Sheet 2, he has the opportunity to change the values on the current Sheet without having to navigate to Sheet 1 to do so?

Restrict Cells Text To X Characters Based On Corresponding Cell

Apr 14, 2009

I'm am trying to restrict the length of data that can be entered into a cell based on a drop down in that row. I have achieved this, but what I need to be able to do is use data validation to restrict the cell length to one of two values - so for example the length can only be 6 OR 9 characters long.

I cant see how to do this. At present the best I can do is rectrict to between 6 and 9 - but this would allow 7 and 8 which is not allowed.

Can I Lock Cells After Input For Certain Users

Jan 5, 2009

I'm using Excel '03 and I need to be able to lock certain cells after input, but only for certain users on my network. Ideally, I (administrator), would still be able to edit the cells in case of a mistake or whatever reason. I want the other users limited to adding information and not editing the existing information in a range. I would need this applied to several columns (B, C, I, and K) if this is possible.

Prevent Users From Edit/change Formats Of Unlocked Cells

I want to make sure that a user cant put the cursor in the lower left corner and copy cells by dragging, copy & paste, or do anything other than input data and be able to highleght text and reinput data in case they mistyped or misspelled the data.

ex: user clicks on cell E33 and types in '1234568' and then move to next cell. The user can click back on E33 and can correct by retyping. That is all the user is allowed.
The cells in question are also in ranges if this helps. EX: 'E33:AJ67'

Shared File Prints Differently For Different Users - Autofit Wrapped Cells

Apr 16, 2014

Here's the details:

Same file shared by many users in the office. File is maybe 2200 rows long and 20 columns wide. Last column is a text field where users can explain variances. Cells in the last column are wrapped and the rows auto-fit on the height. Zoom is set at 100%.

One person opens the file and it looks fine on the screen. Print preview also looks fine. File prints out perfectly.

Another user opens the file and it looks fine on the screen. BUT, print preview shows that the bottom line or lines of text is cut off. File prints exactly like the preview showed with clipped text.

Both users can point the file to the same printer, but that doesn't seem to change anything. Still prints with text clipped for one person and perfectly for another...

I am trying to create a sheet which captures the Worked hrs for users in various cells. The SUMPRODUCT does not seem to be working for me .

Col D under Data Sheet has the names and these are repetitive. The Hrs / min in column E & F (Regular Hrs) & Additional Hrs / min under H & I.

I would like to have the Regular hrs + minutes to SUM up against each individual and displayed in consolidated under Col D (Regular hrs) & Col E (Additional Hrs).

I am using Excel 2010 and when i have used the same formulae in 2003 it worked. Not sure why it is not working in 2010.
