I'm using Excel 2007 and am having an issue with grouping/ungrouping fields in pivot tables.
I have 2 separate pivot tables, both from the same named data source, but summarizing different data selections. Both tables include the date field, I am trying to produce both a daily and a monthly table, but whenever I change the grouping/ungrouping of the date field setting on one table, the other table changes to the same grouping.
Is there anyway to have one table with an ungrouped date field and one table with the grouped to month date field?
I have a file, a portion is attached, where I want to paste the value of the formula (in this case, just that of the external data) once it has grabbed the data from an external source.
If the first time I open the file is Jan 15, I want it to grab the data in columns C, E and G from Jan 1 to Jan 14 and paste each cell's value in the same cell. Any data on Jan 15 or past Jan 15, I don't want the value (hasn't been collected yet).
If I open the file again on Jan 18, I need the data from Jan 15 to Jan 17.
I have this macro which works well for grabbing the data and pasting the value.
I need to compare three cells of random dates shown in Column E, F,& G with Row's H5:AK5, H7:AK7, H9:AK7 (the Dates to these rows is Static on row H3:AK3.) EX: ROW 5 has Start Date, End Date (1) and End Date (2). Compare Cell H3 between Start Date & End Date (1). If H3 falls between or equal to Start and End Date(1) then highlight cell H5. Proceed till AK3 (higlighting only the cells H5:AK5). Then compare cell H3 between or equal to End Date (1) and End Date (2) (higlighting only the cells H5:AK5). Then do the same for ROW 7 and ROW 9.
To make things a bit more difficult I need to have " WK#" in Row 14 (these WK# is on another tab called "Task" of the workbook) needs to be displayed in Row's H4:AK4, H6:AK6, & H8:AK8. EX: Compare Date in D15 between or equal to Start Date & End Date (1) then display Wk# in D14 in H4. Continue till all dates in D15:Z15 are compared to Start Date & End Date (1) and WK#'s in Row D14:Z14 are inputted if applicable in Row H4:AK4, H6:AK6, H8:AK8. I hope this is not confusing. I can't seem to use the upload option so here is alink to download a jpg of the sheet
I'm working on a project in which I have 50 states + DC listed by 2-letter abbreviation, and want to return a value in another column that will be a non-unique number (some will duplicate in the second column.)
Also need to do this same operation with first column (state) and third column, which also is comprised of non-unique numbers.
Hlookup, lookup & pivot tables seem to not be a fit for this.
I like to create "templates" for files that I work with on a reoccuring basis, just to make things simpler. The current template I am working on tracks items processed by day and is used for two reporting purposes; 1 totals the pay ending items processed so I have the dates laid out based on the 2 week period with formulas for that. The 2nd way it is reported is by the month. Since this is a template, only the first day of the first pay period for a calendar year needs to be entered and the rest of the dates populate based on that date. What I would now like to do is add columns for January - December monthly totals using a formula that will read something like "if column A (where the date is) contains 1/1/2014 - 1/31/2014, then sum up column L" and than copy that formula for the remaining months.
I have 4 columns (Date (A), Open (B), High (C), Low (D)) in date order with the newest at the top. I have a value in G1, I'd like to see the oldest date returned in H1 of when a value in the (D) column is lower then G1. I've been looking at match and vlookup but what I can't seem to figure out is how to return the oldest date.
It's a given that formatting doesn't alter underlying values in all areas of Excel, merely changing the way cells look. But in the attached I show two pivot tables using exactly the same data with the sole exception that the first one has the date numbers formatted as numbers whereas the 2nd PT has the date numbers formatted as dates.
With the 2nd PT it will accept the Group by month functionality whereas the 1st PT won't.
On the face of it PTs seem to take more notice of the way a number is formatted when it comes to grouping rather than treating the number as a date which it can group.
I'm building a sales tracking spreadsheet and need to find a way to auto group certain rows based on their cell value. In my tracker I'd like to group by company name and be able to collapse it to look at the details.
Here's an example of my starting point and how I'd like the data to look like in the end.
Starting State: Company Name contact name sales stage Forcast amount ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Company A david brown contracts 10,000 Company A John Smith Won 20,000 Company A D'Arcy Davis Canceled 10,000 Company B Company B
Desired State: Starting State: Company Name contact name sales stage Forcast amount ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- +Company A 30,000 +Company B
then the pivot table of data shows Dept, Sum of Hours, Sum of Total ($), Sum of Days
When you click on the drop down to adjust the filter for the Date it gives you the whole list of dates, day by day as it is in the source data.
Is there a way to make it in the filter by month and year, the way it would in an ordinary filter. So if I wanted to have the pivot table show only the values with an October date I can, rather than having to deselect all and then individually check the boxes for the 1st through to the 31st of October.?
i need to group the values based on A, B, C columns.
which means all "Chickpea_B-1_11area_3d.csv " will have same timestamp and mean_area_3d values, only D column vlaue changes.....
in the same way, all "Chickpea_B-1_12area_3d.csv" will have same timestamp and mean_area_3d values, only D column vlaue changes.....
now i need all Chickpea_B-1_11area_3d.csv values to be grouped into one. and chickpea_B-1_12area_3d.csv values to be grouped into one..
if you see the output sheet, you will understand clearly, which i did manually for your easy understanding...
i did manually and also attached the sheet for your kind reference and easy understanding... where i grouped all Chickpea_B-1_11_area_3daver_domain_area, fill_factor, leaf_angle_theta, plantHeight, projected_leaf_a into one.... where b and c cols are same for all the D E F G H I Values. in the same way for Chickpea_B-1_12_area_3d and all other below values to be grouped.
like this i have to do for 1000 files. please find the attachment...
I have a pivot table (vendor spend report) which has over 7000 rows of data. There are 38 vendors (some vendors appear multiple times i.e. Accenture Itay, Accenture Germany, etc.). Vendors names are in column B.
I need to have the VBA script search for each of the vendors (and related names) and group them together. Also, last one is for all the MISC. vendors which need to be group together (one's that dont belong to the 38 managed vendors).
Also, I need to rename the Group for each one; rather than Group1, I need to name it "Accenture All" etc...
