I am working to make an automatic result card in which excel automatically gets data of every student which is present in sheet within the workbook by simply writing roll number of the student in a cell. and i have done it easily by Vlookup and index functions but the only problem i am facing is, that i want to show the picture of each student by roll no. pictures are in one folder on my hard drive, now i want that as the roll number of the student is written the result excel should display the picture (from the folder, each picture named by roll)of the student. for example i write 1234 in roll no cell and want to get and show the picture no 1234 in another cell. (from the folder)
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an workbook with pictures that are linked to external picture files, and they are placed in the workbook via macro. When I email the file to another computer and open it, the pics do not display and show an error:
The linked image cannot be displayed. The file may have been moved, renamed, or deleted, Verify that the link points to the correct file and location.
I would like to be able to save the workbook with the pictures in them (without having to archive them) so that I can open it and see them on another machine.
Need macro that automate our QC department. What the macro does is it looks up the item number based on the barcode that the scanner reads and brings up the item number, the item description, total of units in a case, how much a single box of the item will weigh and how many units in the inner box may be sold at one time. The trouble is that not all items have an image available so that the person who is doing the checking knows what the item looks like.
There is a Logitech webcam setup to take pictures of the items. The following code allows us to import the image of the item into excel in a given cell:
code they have in use for saving emails and attachments to hard drive using VBA. I have found the attached- which is close although it only [URL]downloads attachments. I would like to go through the inbox and download files received on a specific date, from the inbox subfolders to sub folders on the harddrive

When a file is currently open, and the user selects "Save as", it takes them to the files native directory. (Where it was last saved).
If the user has that same file open, opens another file from a different directory, goes back to the first file and selects "Save as", it takes them to the location where the last file was opened from.
Is there an easy way to populate a combobox with a list of directories on the hard drive?
I want to create a way for a user to specify a file without having to type in the full address by hand.
I would like to start in the c:/ root and list the directories in one combobox and the excel files in another combobox. Then if they select say "desktop" it displayes the directories in "c:/desktop" and the excel files contained there in. Then if they click test it does directories in "c:/desktop/test" and so on.
I am completely stumped and spent over 20 hours trying to figure out this problem. There are a ton of examples on the net on how to do this using code, not using code, etc. I have attached the sample of what I have been able to do so far.
In this example I have used the non code approach. Using Name Lists to assign pictures, I was able to get this to work, the problem is that I would have to create hundreds of name lists to get it to work on all cells, unless I'm missing something.
If you look at Column C - I basically want to assign a picture instead of the word relating to the color in Column A. As you can see in the sample I was able to get this to work, but as I mentioned I would have to literally create hundreds of lists to do it across Column A,D,F,H, etc.
Is it possible to have an Image Box which opens different images based on the value of a cell. Say when A1 = 1, the picture of one thing comes up....when A1=2 and different picture and so on?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a an excel workbook that is distributed on a flash drive. Currently a Save As Macro copies "A1" as the file name and then opens a screen to allows the user to save that filename to a location that the user selects. What I would like to have happen is for a command button to start a macro that would automatically save the file back to the flash drive that the master workbook is located.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI want to create and add-in that will allow a user to select a file (using the in built dialog boxes), the file will then be copied across the network to another server to which the user doesn't have access - I do have access so would hard code in the appropriate username and password in to the script.
The way I had done this before was to look through the users mapped drive to find a free one, map the network drive connecting as myself, save the file and then disconnect the drive.
I am able to map and disconnect the drive, but can't work out how to find an empty drive to use (thus preventing me from overwriting any mappings they may already have).
I have an Excel (.xlsm) that opens an existing PPT and uses VBA to modify several slides.
There are several shapes on each slide and my .xlsm has VBA that modifies those shapes.
(The slides have designs on them for different size business cards which get filled in with spreadsheet names,...)
Now I want to "select all" the shapes on a slide as a "group"(not sure that term is correct). Then I want to export that group as a .PNG image file. Save location can be the same folder location of the .xlsm file (doesn't really matter).
This is different than exporting each slide as a .PNG.(which I can already do). In this case the business card designs on each slide are different sizes. So I need the images to be just the size of the "group" on that slide.
The VBA code is within the .xlsm file (not the PPT)
Several posts show VBA code for within the .pptm file that works fine if using just a PPT
However that code doesn't seem to work when I put it in the .xlsm file to drive the image creation from Excel.

How to download the zip file from internet explorer and save it into c: using VBA codes.
I have tried many codes from the internet but none of them are working. i am facing problem for the popup box. the macro which i have found was not supporting to it.

Here is something I have noticed with using Compress Images in 2010.
When I run Compress Images from the save as dialog box in 2007, the file size is slightly larger than if I run it in 2010. However, if I then send the resulting excel file out to people, if they are viewing it on an iPad, then they cannot see the images at all from the 2010 version but can see them fine if the excel file is from the 2007 version (with exactly the same data and images in there).
I cannot figure out why this may be. The options on both are set as "Email (96ppi)" and with "Delete Cropped areas of pictures" ticked.
I have an Add-In installed on multiple computers. When I update it I update them all at the same time so that everyone is on the same page. The Add-In is always in the same location for all computers.
C:- Global FilesVF MacroVF Macro Add-In.xlam
I use the Add-In to format a sheet and one of the formats is to display the "last author" & "Last Save Time" This is the code used:
Code:
Function DocProps(prop As String)
Application.Volatile
On Error GoTo err_value
[Code]....
The same situation occurs with cell Z8 as well. It appears it is looking in the wrong location. If I change the E to a C in the formula bar it fixes the issue but I cannot rely on my users to do this every time. We keep the WB's in question on an external drive and pass it around as needed. So they will run into this problem on a regular basis.
I also get a "Security Warning - Automatic update of Links has been disabled" message only when run from the USB drive.
i have a spreadsheet of my stock (300 items) that contains a header row for all information concerning each item.
what i want is a thumbnail image (120x78) of the product to appear for each product (pic is stored on HD or web)
(it is possible to show a hyperlink to the image from the web or from my computer in the cell, but it seems to be impossible to display the actual image instead, bizarre, i could care less if it is actually in the cell or not)
i have found some code that has worked for others in a macro, just not for me. thus my header row is now (csv style):
imagename, imagepath, image, porduct
B-CH01_thm , C:/etc etc,an image,B-CH01
B-CH02_thm, C:/etc etc,an image,B-CH02
etc
etc
etc
The code (i assumed was for a macro) that did nothing when i ran it is below, i dont want a fix for this code either, any solution that will actually work is all i am after!
An excel workbook we have on a shared drive is returning an error message: "The document is corrupt and cannot be opened. To try and repair it, use the Open and Repair command in the open dialog (File Menu) and select extract data when prompted. I am having trouble following those suggestions, Open an Repair doesnt' seem to be an option on the file menu. I have Excel 2003, is there any way to recover our workbook?

I have a stocklist that is currently in excel with product codes in column B. (eg 60080U-090)
I want to insert product images into column A. The product images are labelled as the style code (eg 60080U-090)
Now this is where you will chuckle, previously we have spent hours manually adding each image into the relevant cell and resizing.
Images are saved on a folder in the desktop labelled "Imagery" The excel workbook is saved in the same folder and labelled "Stock"
I currently have a password secured excel file on my departs Q drive, which everyone can access unfortunately only 1 person can edit at a time. I tried to turn it into a workbook so we could all edit it at the same time but now some of the other users can't access the file at our other buildings throughout the county. This is for excel 2010. And I did select the share workbook, and allow multiple users to edit box. everything else is unchanged.

I have an expense report, which was originally done in Excel 2003. It still prompts users to open as read only however if they select no, they are not prompted for the password, and it has allowed them to save, so when the next person opens it, they have the previous person's report instead of the clean workbook. I have tried everything to put a password onto it. I know this is really basic stuff, but maybe I am missing a step? I want the end user to be able to make all the changes they want in read only mode and then do a save as, but if the select No when prompted "Open as Read-only?" they should have to put a password in.

how can i have it run the macro when they don't click the button and do
File -> Save.
I have been trying to edit a code which previously saved a copy in a new workbook to a specific folder/path. (Additionally it copies and clears some figures, but this is working as it should.)
However I would like the copy to be saved at the same location as the original workbook, regardless of the path the original workbook is saved.
I.e if I need to move the workbook containing the code to a new folder/location, when using the macro, the new copy should be stored in the same folder/location as the original one.
For now it is only saving the copy into "My Documents"
Code:
Sub Macro1()
'
' Macro1 Macro

ActiveWorkbook.Path & Range("D3"), _

I'm trying to find a way to save a single sheet of an excel workbook and in the same process delete all vba code and shapes from the new single sheet workbook. I was looking around and found this code which does save only the single sheet to a new one sheet workbook but doesn't delete the vba and shape that I have used to assign macros to in the original.
Code:
Sub SaveSheetAsNewBook()
Dim wb As Workbook
Dim InitFileName As String
Dim fileSaveName As String
Dim wshape As Shape
InitFileName = ThisWorkbook.Path & Format(Date, "mm.dd.yy")
[code]....
I have two workbooks open. I need to "Save As" and close workbook 2 with a file name from a cell in Workbook 1. The macro is running from workbook 1.
I'm guessing a change in the last line. I don't know what Dim means either.
Dim FName As String
Dim FPath As String
FPath = "G:"
FName = Sheets("sheet 1").Range("A1").Text
ThisWorkbook.SaveAs Filename:=FPath & "" & FName
is it possible to work on a workbook lets call it 123
once macro button is pressed it opens workbook abc
then saves it as what ever is in cell a1 to a directory?
