Macro To Save As Workbook 2 From Data In A Cell From Workbook 1

Sep 28, 2012

I have two workbooks open. I need to "Save As" and close workbook 2 with a file name from a cell in Workbook 1. The macro is running from workbook 1.

I'm guessing a change in the last line. I don't know what Dim means either.

Dim FName As String
Dim FPath As String

FPath = "G:"
FName = Sheets("sheet 1").Range("A1").Text
ThisWorkbook.SaveAs Filename:=FPath & "" & FName

Save Data From One Workbook To Another Without Opening Workbook

Mar 1, 2013

I have a spreadsheet that data gets exported to from a software program. There is information such as customer name, part number, inquiry number, etc that I'd like to use to develop a log of all my estimates I create for parts. I'd like excel to take the cells I select and insert them into certain cells in the other workbook and automatically save that workbook. This will create a log of all my estimates where I can then link the full estimate to the log. The information will have to go in the next available row. Is there any way I can accomplish this without having to open the other workbook and save the work book each time?

Recording Macro To Save Workbook Using Filename In Cell?

Aug 5, 2013

I'm trying to record a macro that calls up the saveas dialogue and uses a filename from a cell (it's the w/c date). I can start recording the macro, open the dialogue box and copy the contents of the cell but i can't get it to paste as the filname.

What I'm trying to achieve is to allow users of a muli-sheet workbook to be able to click on a 'save' button on any sheet and have the workbook save with a filename which includes the current week commencing date. This way all the weeks changes will be in just one file and from the following monday a new file will be started the the old one left alone as an archive.

I actually have loads of workbooks to transfer to the template but if I have an example with the two then im sure I can work out how to modify it. All files will be in the same folder.

Copy Data From One Workbook To Updated Workbook Using Macro

May 1, 2012

I am creating a spreadsheet to provide to a group of about 40 people. The spreadsheet allows each member to track the referrals they receive and give. I need to plan on creating updates for the spreadsheet and want to make it so they can easily transfer their data to the most current version in the future. Here is a breakdown of the workbook:

Worksheets:
Members
Lists
Referrals Given
Referrals Received
Totals
Formulas

I need to copy the data that they have input from the following worksheets:
Referrals Given
Referrals Received

Here is a breakdown of the "Referrals Received" worksheet:
A1:V4 - Data that will not change and includes many named cells
A5:Nxxx - Dynamic Named Range where they input their data
O5:Vxxx - Contains formulas

I need to be able to copy
A5:Vxxxxx
from the old workbook to the new

Some side items to note:
There is VBA in the worksheet of
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
and included in the code is an Unprotect & Protect code to always keep the sheet protected

I figure whatever works for this sheet will work for all the sheets.

SaveAs - Copy Sheet Into New Workbook And Save It In Same Folder As Original Workbook

Jun 17, 2014

I have been trying to edit a code which previously saved a copy in a new workbook to a specific folder/path. (Additionally it copies and clears some figures, but this is working as it should.)

However I would like the copy to be saved at the same location as the original workbook, regardless of the path the original workbook is saved.

I.e if I need to move the workbook containing the code to a new folder/location, when using the macro, the new copy should be stored in the same folder/location as the original one.

For now it is only saving the copy into "My Documents"

Code:
Sub Macro1()
'
' Macro1 Macro
' Macro recorded 16-02-2009 by ceng
'

Sheets("Bunker ROB").Select
Sheets("Bunker ROB").Copy
ActiveWorkbook.SaveAs Filename:= _
ActiveWorkbook.Path & Range("D3"), _
FileFormat:=xlOpenXMLWorkbookMacroEnabled, CreateBackup:=False

Save Workbook As CSV Macro Code

May 19, 2008

I want is a Macro that will save the file as .csv, with the same filename and location as the original (just in csv format). A hotkey would be quite handy for this. I tried using the macro recorder and fiddled around with the code a bit but my programming knowledge is quite limited and I ended up with something that doesn't quite work as i'd like. I'm sure this would only take a few seconds to code for an experienced user, which is why I post here. I would post my attempt at doing it myself but i'm on a computer that doesn't have excel at the moment.

Macro To Open / Close / Save Workbook?

Mar 14, 2014

I need to have a workbook (all of them in a folder, ideally) refresh in the middle of the night. The file is large so the refresh takes a full minute. I know I can't auto refresh a closed workbook (pretty sure anyway), and I can't leave the workbook open for various reasons.

So I'm thinking I could have a macro in an open excel (it kicks off on open) that will open a particular workbook elsewhere (the one I need refreshed), open it, refresh it and close/save it. Ideally it would do this for the entire group of workbooks in the folder but I'd be happy to start with just one. I would like to set it to occur every twelve hours (so at midnight, say, this would occur - I would just have to leave the workbook with the macro in it open on a computer so that it runs and completes this task every night).

I have 5 Excel files. The first one is Main, and the other 4 are subfiles, namely A1, A2, A3 & A4. I have a need to open Main, then click a button to start a Macro (in Main) which will do the following, sequentially:

1. open A1
2. run a Macro in A1
3. close and save A1.
4. open A2
5. run a Macro in A2

The files A1..A4 are a file server and being shared. If they're being used by another user, it cannot be saved - so I would have to skip it and continue with the next A. It would be great if start Excel, open Main, and run the Macro in Main fully automatically.

Save Column J Of WorkBook When WorkBook Is Not Saved.

May 27, 2006

Need VBA code to save column J of open workbook called LmbcAcctsPayable.xls, Sheet1, to same workbook & sheet called LmbcAcctsPayable.xls, Sheet1, when save is not selected.

Reason: The workbook is usually not saved because it is more of a templet with names in column A. Column J is updated with a date when a row is used so I need the column J to copy automatically to the blank templet when exiting without saving (using ThisWorkbook.Save = True in Auto_Close). That way, rows not being used for a long period of time can be periodically eleminated.

Macro: Create Directory Based On Active Workbook And Save To It

Sep 8, 2006

Read “My Documents” Path And Use Result

Problem:

Excel version : 97 / 2002 / 2003

1. Corporate network security settings will only allow directory/subdirectory creation in the “My Documents” section of customers individual computers.

2. Per customer request, VBA application needs to save extracted files for future use.

3. I can specify an initial “My Documents” subdirectory be made and the VBA application file be loaded/copied into that location – i.e. – “My DocumentsCat”.

4. When VBA application is opened from that specified directory, (first time), the application needs to make an additional subdirectory tree to save future files. I can read the opened from location via VBA with the following:

Dim filepath As String
filepath = ThisWorkbook.Path

Save UserForm Data Into Separate Workbook

May 22, 2008

I have a form which creates a budget based on user input. I want to save that user input in a separate workbook. My goal is to reduce the file size. I have several modules which perform evaluations/ calculations, and then format the output in a worksheet, but the size is pretty large 450KB.

I was thinking that I could set the control source, to different cells on the worksheet, and then just copy the worksheet to a new workbook, and save the data by itself. Then if I wanted to change the data for a given budget, I would copy the sheet back into the workbook that contains the modules, and load the form again. Is this a good solution? Is there a better way? Please let me know if I can provide more information.
