Dec 28, 2006
I know this is probably an easy one, but can anyone help, I have a spreadsheet with aboout 8 worksheet tabs, for some reason they have disappeared I have emailed the spreadsheet to my work email and everything is fine, does anyone out there know what I have done. I have checked the tools options and view tab as informed and the sheet tabs are definately checked, also I have ensured that the tabs are not hidden.

How do I get a workbook to open with a selected sheet visible, or preferably all hidden? I already have a userform that opens upon opening the workbook that the user 'Enters' the workbook with.
My untidy method would have been to use an If -Then statement for each sheet in the Private Sub Workbook_Open. Is there a neater way of doing it?

I can only view one worksheet at a time with a particular spreadsheet. There are no tabs to click at the bottom of the screen to view the other worksheets. In excel 2007, if I click on View, then Full Screen, I get the tabs (so I can view the different worksheets) but then I lose the menu and formula bar (so when I click on a cell I can only see its contents and not the formula). I need to see the formula that is applied. This has not happened with other S/Sheets, just this particular one. what else I can do to view the worksheet tabs without full screen view?

I have been trying to get Excel (2007) to change the colour of tabs to match other tabs in the workbook
Using this code I get the colour code of the current tab
Code:
x = ActiveSheet.Tab.ColorIndex
But when I use this value in a procedure like this:
Code:
ActiveSheet.Tab.ColorIndex = x
The tab is a different colour!

I am trying to format all cells on all sheets (hidden or otherwise) as "Locked" so when the sheets are protected the user can't see the formulas. This macro individually selects every sheet in the book and applys the formatting. Is there a way to modify this code to accomplish the same thing without having it actually select every sheet? The only reason it is an issue is that after running the macro you end up on the last sheet in the book.

I have a button on a sheet that runs a macro to unhide another sheet. That works, but I want the sheet made visible to remain forward. Instead, the button unhides the sheet and the sheet the button is on comes forward again. I am unable to figure how to keep the sheet made visible forward. Here is the macro 'as recorded'.
Sub UnhideSheet1()
Sheet2.Visible = True
End Sub

I have a workbook that was opened with a Word macro but was mistakenly not made visible. I didnot realize the workbook was open because I didn't see it. I tried to open it manually and found that it was locked for editing because it was already open due to the Word macro opening it. How do I close it?

I want to open a workbook, using a button, but I don't want the workbook to be visible. I'm looking for something similar to the visible = false that you can use when opening a database file. If I use the visible = true command after the workbooks.open command, it hides the workbook that the the code is in and not the one that the code is opening.
Currently I'm just using the workbooks.open command, but I just want the file I'm opening to open in the background.

I have 3 workbooks with multiple spreadsheets (tabs) in each workbook. I want to open a blank workbook and copy various sheet tabs from the other workbooks into my new workbook. I need to keep the formatting etc when these are copied over. There are text boxes in some of the existing workbooks and macro's.

I have a boolean toggle for disabling and enabling a Workbook_Change event.
Right I invoke macros to turn the Workbook_Change event on and off and I don't know what state it's in.
Two Questions:
1) (required) I would love to be able to visually know if it's enabled no matter which sheet I am on
2) (bonus) Be able to change the state with a persistent interface (e.g. perhaps the Ribbon?) no matter which sheet I am on.

I created 3 custom toolbars. I want toolbar A to be visible only in Workbook A.xls, toolbar B to be visible only in Workbook B.xls and toolbar C to be visible only in Workbook C.xls. while Workbooks A,B, and C are open at the same time. I use Workbook A to automatically open Workbooks B and C.
Problem: Since I'm openning the Workbooks automatically it only keeps the Toolbar C visible on all Woksheets.
I included the following code in the This Workbook Object on each Workbook:
For Workbook A:
Private Sub Workbook_Open()
Application.CommandBars("A").Visible = True
Application.CommandBars("B").Visible = False
Application.CommandBars("C").Visible = False
End Sub
Private Sub Workbook_BeforeClose(Cancel As Boolean)
Application.CommandBars("A").Visible = False
Application.CommandBars("B").Visible = False
Application.CommandBars("C").Visible = False..............................

I have a workbook with several tabs. The top tab is the main spreadsheet
were I enter all my gathered data. The other tabs are the same spreadsheet,
the same data, but broken out by specific building.
Right now, I enter the data (alpha and numeric) into the main spreadsheet,
then manually copy/paste it to the respective sub-level spreadsheet.
I can specify the "IF" part of the line item that would identify which sheet
to copy it to, but is it possible to have a "THEN copy and paste [these
cells]" to the other spreadsheets?

I have an Excel sheet with all client information...For clinical supervision I want my team members to open their own "Supervision.xls" and click a button...this button will open "Client.xls" and select "Client info sheet"...It will then hide rows c,d,g & f...it will then filter column "e" based on the specific caseworkers name ( say "Joe") and copy only the visable columns back to their "supervision.xls" Values only (doesn't effect the colour formating of Supervision.xls) then close "Client.xls"

When I open Excel sheet it doesnt say the name of the file anymore, usually seen above the menubar. For example when I open a file called book.xls it usually says the name in the blue bar on the top left sideof the menu bar, but not anymore. Im sure there is a simple way to restore this but cant seem to find it.
more details:
1. I open blank excel sheet.
2. Within Excel I click on File>Open and browse to the xls file i want to open.
3. I open file, no problem there, just on top of the blue bar it should say the name of the file and it doesnt.
4. This is the case for ALL excel files I open.
5. Opening a file directly by doubleclicking on it is the same problem.

In my VBA Project Editor Window I have a Sheet17 without the normal brackets and a sheet name. Also I do not think there is a sheet 17 in the workbook.
put differntly
I have
Sheet1 (InfoOptions)
Sheet2 (Something)
Where the stuff between brackets the name of the sheet in Excel is.
Also in the " properties" window, if I click on the above sheets it tells me the name is Sheetx etc.
I have a strange sheet that only dislays this
Sheet17
-No brackets AND in the properties window it gives
ThisWorkbook
How do I fix this. I am more than willing to send the workbook via email. I can also, if I may, insert a screenshot of this.
I have already tested - this is not a hidden sheet.

I have a workbook that pulls in data from other sources and contains 15 linked sheets. The data changes when different criteria is selected in the first sheet. The first 2 sheets are summary sheets and the tabs are named correctly.
I would like to be able to rename the remaining 13 tabs using labels found in the cells in the first sheet. These tabs should update or change when the first sheet is manually recalculated (F9).
I have used ActiveSheet.Name=Range("A1") but it doesn't apply in this case. Is there a macro that could run with something like Sheet1.Name=Range("A1"), Sheet2.Name=Range("A2"), Sheet3.Name=Range("A3"), etc.... or maybe something in each sheet that would change the name of the tab to a specific name off sheet 1 when the whole workbook is recalculated?

I have a program that takes a templete, copies it, fills in some information and then renames the tab based on text in a cell on that sheet. The code loops so I end up with about ten tabs that are created from the Template.
I want to move these newly created tabs to a new Workbook.
is there a way (code) that will move all the tabs except ones delineated in the code - like the tab named "Template"?

I am having problems with some vba codes when I protect my workbook; 'I get an run-time error 1004 Unable to set visible property of the worksheet class'
The code I am trying is:
Sub Stats1_Return_TextBox1_Click()
ActiveSheet.Unprotect "meme"
Application.Goto Worksheets("BCM Database").Range("L15")
Sheets("Stats 1").Visible = False
ActiveSheet.Protect "meme"
End Sub
How to sort this. One more question is there away of protecting you vba code? stop users being able to view or edit them for instance?

I have a workbook with a list of names of up to 15 people in each of 5 rows. Each row then populates a row in a separate workbook with those names. Each person is identified by a number and each person then has their own worksheet in that workbook.
Is it possible in some way to auto-name the tab for each worksheet from the number in the name cell?
