Make Workbook Visible

Jan 10, 2008

I have a workbook that was opened with a Word macro but was mistakenly not made visible. I didnot realize the workbook was open because I didn't see it. I tried to open it manually and found that it was locked for editing because it was already open due to the Word macro opening it. How do I close it?

If Workbook Event Is Active Make It Visible

Apr 12, 2012

I have a boolean toggle for disabling and enabling a Workbook_Change event.

Right I invoke macros to turn the Workbook_Change event on and off and I don't know what state it's in.

Two Questions:
1) (required) I would love to be able to visually know if it's enabled no matter which sheet I am on
2) (bonus) Be able to change the state with a persistent interface (e.g. perhaps the Ribbon?) no matter which sheet I am on.

Make Named Cells More Visible

Aug 3, 2006

I would like to loop through my workbook and distinguish (somehow) all of the cells that are named. I would like to do something to them so that I can easily glance through my workbook and find all ranges that aren't named. My biggest problem is that I would like whatever distinguishing I do to be reversable. Therefore, I can't just make all of the backgrounds of named ranges bright yellow, because then I would lose the original background color of my cells (they aren't all white).

The best option that I have thought of so far is inverting the fill color of each cell (this would be reversible). However, I'm not sure how to invert colors.

By the way, if the named ranges could be distinguished in some other way than by using background color, that would be fine too, as long as the changes are reversible.

Make Columns Visible/invisible As Per The Conditions

Sep 4, 2009

I am trying to create a daily task activity sheet. I would like to know, how to make the columns visible and invisible as per the selection from previous column.

For eg:

Column A has a list which has values 'TC creation' , 'TC modification', 'System Test' etc.

Upon selecting TC creation, i need to make a column visible ie 'total tcs created'.

Upon selecting 'TC modification' i would have to make the previous column invisible and make a new column visible for entering no of tcs modified.

Upon selecting 'System test' the other columns should go invisible and make other 3 columns visible for no of tcs executed, no of tcs passed, no of tcs failed etc...

Make Workbook Code/Macros Unique To Workbook

How is code or functions kept unique to a workbook? for instance i create a few toolbars that are relevant to "work book 1", however when i open another workbook "2" the toolbars do not function properly or are removed by the opening/closing of the work book, similarly other macros seem to struggle with more than one workbbok open at a time.

Open A Workbook With Only One Sheet Visible.

Mar 10, 2009

How do I get a workbook to open with a selected sheet visible, or preferably all hidden? I already have a userform that opens upon opening the workbook that the user 'Enters' the workbook with.

My untidy method would have been to use an If -Then statement for each sheet in the Private Sub Workbook_Open. Is there a neater way of doing it?

Open Workbook Without It Being Visible Using A Button

Jun 19, 2002

I want to open a workbook, using a button, but I don't want the workbook to be visible. I'm looking for something similar to the visible = false that you can use when opening a database file. If I use the visible = true command after the workbooks.open command, it hides the workbook that the the code is in and not the one that the code is opening.

Currently I'm just using the workbooks.open command, but I just want the file I'm opening to open in the background.

Custom Toolbars Visible In A Specific Workbook

Dec 30, 2008

I created 3 custom toolbars. I want toolbar A to be visible only in Workbook A.xls, toolbar B to be visible only in Workbook B.xls and toolbar C to be visible only in Workbook C.xls. while Workbooks A,B, and C are open at the same time. I use Workbook A to automatically open Workbooks B and C.

Problem: Since I'm openning the Workbooks automatically it only keeps the Toolbar C visible on all Woksheets.

I included the following code in the This Workbook Object on each Workbook:

For Workbook A:

Private Sub Workbook_Open()

Application.CommandBars("A").Visible = True
Application.CommandBars("B").Visible = False
Application.CommandBars("C").Visible = False

End Sub

Private Sub Workbook_BeforeClose(Cancel As Boolean)

Application.CommandBars("A").Visible = False
Application.CommandBars("B").Visible = False
Application.CommandBars("C").Visible = False..............................

Join 6 Workbooks Together To Make One 7th Workbook

Jun 27, 2013

How to do this with a macro but I want to join 6 workbooks together too make 1. Master sheet (7th copy). Below are the points of interest and a couple of questions.

1- My six books are all identical in cols.
2- The six books all have in col A my own ID number, no ID number is the same in any worksheet.
3- If I can get all 6 books together then the ID will start at #1 and finish approx at 225,000, in accending order.
4- All books have only 2 worksheets inside, Sheet1 and Sheet2 .
5- I don't want to delete or loose any data in the 6 books already made. Just make a 7th copy of the 6 .
6- The 6 w/books are called
6A- Each w/book contains approx 40,000 rows except last , approx 22,000

UPTODATE STAKESWTD SECT 1
UPTODATE STAKESWTD SECT 2
UPTODATE STAKESWTD SECT 3
UPTODATE STAKESWTD SECT 4
UPTODATE STAKESWTD SECT 5
UPTODATE STAKESWTD SECT 6

7- There are no functions in any of the w/books, just other macros which I want in the master copy.
8- Can the 7th copy be called UPTODATE STAKESWTD MASTER

Private Sub Workbook_Open()
Dim dTime As Date
dTime = Time
If dTime >= TimeValue("9:30 PM") And _
dTime < TimeValue("9:40 PM") Then

Make New Copy Of Entire Workbook Macro

Mar 1, 2010

I've created an Excel 2007 workbook with about a dozen worksheets that are full of formulas and links to other workbooks, as well as conditional formatting that isn't backwardly compatible with Excel 2003. However, many people who want to see this workbook are still on Excel 2003. I need to recreate an Excel 2003 compatible workbook with the appearance and formatting of the original and have all the formulas and links converted to values. So, the final product will "look" just like the original without the conditional formatting, links or formulas. It will just have the look, colors and values displayed for all cells.

Essentially, I want a macro that will copy however many worksheets (1-n) are in an Excel 2007 workbook to a new Excel 2003 workbook. I'd like the worksheets to retain their label names as well.

Copy Filter Data And Paste It On Another Workbook With Special Cells (Only Visible Cells)

Apr 12, 2014

I am using code to filter my 4 sheets Greater then 0 (zero)

After apply above filter now i need to copy multiple rows and paste on another specific workbook for paste i m using below code:

for 1st sheet with the name ("V2")

for 2nd sheet with the name("LV")

For 3rd sheet with the name ("F2")

and 4th sheet with the name("L2")

If I play above code one by one all is going very well,,,,,,or if use in this way all is going very well

But here is a big problem..........if any sheet have no value greater then 0(zero)....then code paste all data... e.g shssts("LV") .Range("C5:C54").Copy but C5:C54 have no data greater then 0(zero) and it will paste on another sheet c5:c54 and again new sheets data will paste below the c54 while c5:c54 have no data.

So I want if any sheet have no data with range is greater then 0(Zero) then skip the copy paste code or use like SpecialCells(xlCellTypeVisible) .

Make Array Reference Cells On Another Worksheet Of Active Workbook

Feb 27, 2014

My company has complicated time sheets because we have several tasks that are billed differently to different people. Once a month we have to sit down and compile everything from several forms and so forth. I have created a worksheet that pulls all the numbers together so that they can simply be copied and pasted into our reports. The hope was to simply copy this worksheet into a time sheet workbook and it will pull out all of the correct numbers. Although all the time sheet workbooks are set up the same way, whenever I copy the file into another time sheet workbook the program keeps its references from the workbook it was in. Make sense? is there a formula that I can insert into an array to tell it to pull the information from the worksheet with the same name, but in the active workbook?

here is one of the equations I am working with:

{=TRANSPOSE('1st week'!A10:L48)}

so it would look something like this maybe

{=TRANSPOSE('[active workbook]1st week'!A10:L48)} but this doesn't work of course.

Can I Change A Setting Somewhere To Make Close Its Default Blank Workbook When I Open An Existing One

Feb 9, 2007

I have Excel 2002. If I start the program it opens with a blank workbook, called "Book 1".

If I then open an existing workbook, I have two Excel buttons in the Windows taskbar: the one I just opened, and the blank one titled Book 1.

At work I have Excel 2003. The blank "Book 1" is also there when I start the program, but if I then open an existing workbook, the Book 1 goes away. I like this way better.

My question is: Is this just the way versions 2002 vs. 2003 work, or can I change a setting somewhere to make Excel 2002 close its default blank workbook when I open an existing one?
