How to do a sheet with random letters... I got this macro but is not working
Sub RandomLetters()
Dim RandomRange As Range, cell As Range
Set RandomRange = Range("C10:AG15")
For Each cell In RandomRange
cell.Formula = "=RANDL(A,M)"
Next
RandomRange.Value = RandomRange.Value
End Sub
The range is set. but the cell.formula is not... i want to set the macro to random the letters (N ,M, T, E, DS) without their being repeated at the same column is that possible???
I have what seems to be a pretty complicated situation involving random numbers and letters. I need to generate random sets of this combination of 2 letters follows by 6 numbers (ex. AB123456). I need the final product to be randomly generated and non-repeated.
I have played with various methods of producing random numbers and random letters both repeated and non-repeated. The closest I can get would be a cell of randomly generated letters adjacent to a cell of randomly generated numbers which so far has been useless.
Is it possible to add letters to this "Unique random number" generator it is very fast and takes only 5s to run on 50,000 rows, I have a different "Unique random Sequence generator" macro but it takes about 30 minutes to run on 50,000 rows
Code:
Sub generateuniquerandom() Dim b() As Boolean, e As Range, k&, x& Dim lRow As Long With Sheets(1) lRow = .Range("F" & .Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Row
I have to convert an old dos program file to excel. I already have the list in excel but the text is in strange symbols. I know which symbol represents which letter. As have many files to convert each time I need a makro which would save me lot of time. I have two worksheets: "1" and "2". I need a makro which replaces symbols in sheet "1" Column A through key list in sheet "2".
I have a column of cells, some blank, some containing just numbers, some containing just letters, some containing numbers preceded by the the letter 'p'
E.g.
frt 34.2 36
p34.5
In the cells containing the number preceded by the 'p' - i would like to remove the 'p' leaving just the number, with all other cells remaining unchanged.
I need the selected rows to be displayed on a new sheet. The idea being that I have a quiz with hundreds of questions and I only want a random selection to appear when I execute the macro. I plan on hiding the original questions and only displaying the randomly selected ones.
I've coded a macro that can randomly sample out rows of data from a sheet. This macro is used to sample out certain rows from a master sheet full of data (which has 48 columns) based on user names (a column titled LAST_UPDATE_NAME). For Example (ref. wkb attached), if for 5 users named Alastor, Catherine, Emma, Julie and Victor for whom i've to choose data from the Dump sheet.
I need to design a module in which if i input the no. of samples to be chosen against each name, then that many number of rows has to be chosen for that particular name and copied to a new sheet (probably such sheets can be renamed with the usernames). Also i want to consolidate the copied data from the multiple sheets and consolidate them to one sheet.
Is there a VBA command to get the letters, instead of the numbers, of the column of a selected cell?
I have to letter a list whihc means setting up a loop using character codes.
I may have to go into double letters so I am working on how I would set up the loop for if and when it gets past 90 and starts on double letters. so far the highest is the letter "U"
of course the easiest would be to pick up a column value as a letter
I have created the bulk of the worksheet, and I am now on the summary page. My challenge for the summary is looking up when someone's name appears in Column A on any of the sheets, then summing the hours per week that the person worked.
The main sheets are to track hours, and billable dollars per project, but the summary is to track total hours per team member per week to make sure staff is being full utilized.
In the examples I have attached Aaron's summary should have 13 hrs per week listed. I do not have the foggiest clue how to do a lookup on a name when the position and sheet is random, and return a value summed for each week.
On the summary sheet I did copy rows 1&2 so at least the summary columns match the sheets.
Example 1 is a sample of the detail on 1 of the 5 sheets that in this example could contain Aaron's name in any random place in column A. Example 2 is my hope for the summary page, that will sum those random hours per week matching the headers on the Detailed sheets.
I am working on a Random Cycle Count Generator that provides random SKU#s based on 3 separate columns of SKU listings. The user clicks a button to generate the SKU#s to cycle count for that day. What I would like to see is a date stamp in the columns next(B,D,F) to the referenced SKU listing(A,C,E) based on which SKU#s are generated. This will let me see the last date that the SKU was generated. I would also like it to automatically save after generating.
I would like to create a column with letters from alphabet in a sequence. If I write A and in cell below I put B then highlight the two cells and drag down I get a repetition of A and B. How do I get the following alphabet letters ie. C,D, E etc.?
I created this data worksheet with many tabs and multiple users. On the main tab, something weird has happened and I have no clue how it happened or how to fix it....
I have a validation drop down box type thing... when I select the drop down, the lower-most option is highlighted as a default. How do I make it so that the upper-most option is highlighted first?
I have a few columns of letters (ranging from A to Z) - onyl one letter per cell. I need to be able to deduct them such that they result in a numeric difference (ie D-B=2, D-A=3). Is there any way this can be done in VBA? (The actual columns are in a word table, so would be great if there was a VBA way to do this, not an excel function).
