Lookup A Name On A Random Sheet And Return Hours Value To Weekly Summary Page?
May 21, 2014
I have created the bulk of the worksheet, and I am now on the summary page. My challenge for the summary is looking up when someone's name appears in Column A on any of the sheets, then summing the hours per week that the person worked.
The main sheets are to track hours, and billable dollars per project, but the summary is to track total hours per team member per week to make sure staff is being full utilized.
In the examples I have attached Aaron's summary should have 13 hrs per week listed. I do not have the foggiest clue how to do a lookup on a name when the position and sheet is random, and return a value summed for each week.
On the summary sheet I did copy rows 1&2 so at least the summary columns match the sheets.
Example 1 is a sample of the detail on 1 of the 5 sheets that in this example could contain Aaron's name in any random place in column A. Example 2 is my hope for the summary page, that will sum those random hours per week matching the headers on the Detailed sheets.
We have a weekly "On-Time" report that shows early, late, on time, or no data. Each week has a total percentage of early, late, on time, or no data deliveries. I now need a monthly total on a seperate worksheet, but for some reason I can not get the percentages to total correctly. I am attaching the spreadsheet.
I have a summary page that includes the titles for each tab within the excel 2003 workbook. I want to use the names of the tabs in the summary page and create it into a formula to lookup fixed cells within the various tabs. Sorry for not uploading an excel doc but I was at work earlier and the thread did not load for some reason, so I am reposting it.
I want to create a summary sheet that will lookup a particular cells value on multiple sheets (averaging 58 sheets) in a workbook (e.g. $J$19) based upon a cell next to it ($I$19) that will match the criteria on the summary sheet (e.g. w1, w2, w3).
I have tried VLOOKAllSheets but when there are other similar workbooks open, it doesn't work right.
I am trying to make my excel sheet more robust to get data on weekly basis. I assign tasks to different members of team by entering the assigned date in column next to the member names. Next week, say on Monday, I need to get total number of tasks assigned for each of the members till Friday (last working day of previous week!). I need to get this data every week.
I have daily Open, High, Low, Close stock prices. Separately, I need the same data but in weekly format, so:
1. The weekly open is the open of the first working day. 2. The weekly high is the highest of each of the daily highs. 3. The weekly low is the lowest of each of the daily lows. 4. The weekly close is the close of the last working day.
i have daily time sheets that make up a week and have 52 sheets for each week...there are contract numbers and contract ticket numbers that i want to use as criteria to sum the total hours of each day and export the data to a sheet that will keep a running total of all hours booked to those contract number and contract ticket number over the coarse of the year as i fill out the weekly time sheets.
What i would like to do is, create a random weekly work rota, so I just have to go in every week and let excel randomly but fairly creat a rota the employees so that they don't argue about whose doing what and just get on with the work. : D
i have two sheets, one to display results (Reults tab) & the other tab containing the data (Data tab)
what i am trying to do is some how create a search function and have a forumula which contains a LIKE function that looks up the data table RANGE = Data!A2:K255
the search needs to lookup the primary column Data!B2:B255 ... if any results are found .. show them on the results tab.. and if multiple results are found, display those as well.. (in either instance, the whole row of information in respect to the results need to be dislayed and hopefully no duplicates are found .. eg, Data!A:K of a hit)
is there a formula that can achieve this? oh, the search is TEXT based and there should be no empty cells within the dataset
after some MASSIVE googling, i have stumbled accross this
B1 = Search box (txt field)
A6 (which will be a hidden column) contains =MATCH($B$1,Data!A2:A255,0). this formula provides the first instance of the result and provides the row number
A7 contains =MATCH($B$1,OFFSET(Data!$A$1,A6+1,0,8-(A6+1),1),0)+A6. this is supposed to look for the next row number which contains a match and provide that row number
and througout my other columns, i have B6=OFFSET(Data!$A$1,A6,1) B7=OFFSET(Data!$A$1,A6,2) B8=OFFSET(Data!$A$1,A6,3) and so on
2 things i cannot recitify..
1, the match has to be EXACT ... unfortunately i cannot use exact .. needs to be LIKE .. eg, i cant use the search word "boat" as the range of data has "boats" 2, it comes up with multile .. irrelevent results.
I have a workbook with multiple calendar sheets in it, those sheets are names by the staff member name (attendance calendar). We put the value 'H' or 'S' in the cells to indicate whether an employee is on holiday or sick. I would like to create a summary calendar/dashboard that shows which people are off which days, like a summary or another calendar with names in date cells. I have tried various ways, but cant seem to return the value I want, or find a simpler way of doing it.
I'm trying to make a task tracking spreadsheet. Each part (or project) that I'm working on has it's own sheet. On those sheets, in a specified column (let's say column A for now) I would like to add a tag or date that I can use to create a summary sheet. The summary sheet would have a macro that looks through each sheet in the file and if the value of the tag matches a specified value, the summary sheet would be populated with everything in each row that has that value for the tag.
I am working on creating a summary page for my workbook. I want the code to create a destination sheet called Summary, then look at each sheet in the workbook, check for a value >0 in cell N7, if it is >0, the copy the tab name and the value in N7 and paste it into the destination sheet starting in cell A1(text of source tab name) and B1(dollar amount). Then move to the next sheet in the workbook and copy paste if N7 is >0 sheet name and value. It needs to skip the sheet XMOE. The Summary sheet would then create a dollar amount subtotal of the values copied from the sheets and populate it into Cell D1. Cell C1 would state "Workbook Subtotal"
I would like the code to delete any sheet where N7 = 0.
I am looking to create a summary page to show open items within a log of initiatives. The workbook has 21 different tabs logging initiatives by the each individual person and also 9 other data tabs. On the tabs containing the initiative logs, it states whether the initiative is open or closed and I only want the summary tab to show the open items. Is it possible to do this?
I have had a TREMENDOUS amount of assistance from a true gentleman, Jaslake; aka John. In an attempt to quite monopolizing his time I wanted to throw this at the board. I have a number of sub sheets with exact ranges of (B4,d4:b44, D44) update an individual cell (H6:H86) in the” summary” page. My attachment explains it in detail but currently I will show you the formula that resides in (H6) of "Summary". (H6) = Sheet "1". This formula only covers (B4,D4:B10,D10) for example purposes but I need it to run all the way through (B4,d4:b44, D44) for all 80 sheets.
March 01, 2009-Today looks good | March 02, 2009-Today looks bad|March 03, 2009 - Today we had issues in Boston|March 04, 2009-Issues in Dallas | March 05, 2009-Issues In New York|March 06, 2009 - New York is complete|March 07, 2009 - Dallas is Complete
NOW, with this said what I really would like to happen, if it is possible, is to have the "Summary" (H6) only have the last range that has been updated showing. So if currently B4,D4 is showing in (H6) once the user types into B5,D5 then it replaces B4:D4. I would like this action to repeat itself until the user has completed their event. The reason I can not stick with a formula in (H6:H86) is because I have a macro running a copy.paste, then clear.contents once a selection is made in Column 4. The information must remain on the sub-sheets but it can be replaced in “Summary “. “Summary” is only a quick view of the current status while the sub sheets are a log of all the work done. So, the following
I have a workbook with 5 work sheets. The first one is summary page. Can I make the Name on the tabs of the 2-5 worksheets appear on the first sheet in cells without actually typing them. I want it to be automatic like when I paste a link to a cell in another worksheet.
I need a formula that can lookup (and match the due date to the column heading weekday of top row in a worksheet calendar) a store in a data table and return it's product shipping date & time in the relevant column in a worksheet calendar.
In the data table, the store numbers are in column A. The product shipping days are in the first column in a 3 column group (store's may have multiple shipping days). The shipping times are in the 2nd column of the group. The shipping Due days are in the last column of the group (text is in red).
This is where formulas will auto-populate the shipping days for each store. It will populate the shipping days in the proper column (Weekday) by matching it to the Due Days in the data table.
(We are only interested in due dates from December 18 to December 29)
For every weekday column (Monday - Friday) there are three columns: - 1st Column: Shipping day - 2nd Column: Shipping Time - 3rd Column: Due Day (last day to ship).
For store # 1401 - there are 3 order days for this store (between December 18 - December 29).
In the Monday column, this store does have shipping order for Wednesday 12/24 (1st column) at 4:30AM (2nd column) - because the due day is Monday (3rd column).
This 3rd column in every weekday group is what must be matched to the Due day in the data table. ...............................................
I want to find the high value from daily data for each week and copy that value.
I have a list of daily price data, being the date, opening price, high price, low price and closing price. For each week I am finding the data necessary to create a list of the weekly opening price, high price, low price and closing price ending on each Friday.
To find the opening price I am using this formulae - =INDIRECT(ADDRESS(MATCH(J2,$A$1:$A$1400,0)+1,COLUMN(B1)))
To find the closing price the formulae is - =INDIRECT(ADDRESS(MATCH($J$3,$A$1:$A$1400,0),COLUMN(E2)))
I need to find the high value and the low value within the five days data, from two separate columns (C and D) of daily data.
Can I use a formula similar to those above, but instead of copying a relevant cell, for example, finding the high from cells B3 to B7. Then I need to do this for each subsequent week.
An example spreadsheet is attached. You will see that currently I am currently copying the Friday data in columns L and M as I don't know how to adapt the formula to do the job.
I have a sheet with Customer name in the first column and next 7 columns have unique serial numbers(alphanumeric) of the systems which that customer has purchased. In another sheet, i have the unique serial number in first column and I want to search this number in the 7 columns of other sheet and return the "Customer name" to this sheet. How do I do that ?
Vlookup searches only in 1 columns, so does match index. lookup didn't work as well.
Use a referenced lookup value from sheet "A", to return values, from several columns in sheet "B"
Things to note:
a) The lookup values sometimes repeat. I need all the associated values with each repetition as well.
b) The lookup values in sheet "A" are a comprehensive list, sheet "B" also contains some of these values but not all. Essentially, what I need to do is find a way to lookup each value in an account numbers column in sheet "A", against a different account numbers column in sheet "B".
If that value occurs in sheet "B" I want it to return the values from Columns X, Y, Z, (I want these values returned in sheet "A".
If that value does not occur in sheet B, the corresponding cells should remain blank.
If the lookup value occurs multiple times, I need all the corresponding values from each of X, Y, Z columns.
I am currently pulling information from a database into Excel. In column A is a list of dates that vary depending on how many days I decide to pull. On any given day there are options to which car will be driven and it is random and there are attributes associated with that drive such as below. If the car was not driven the data pull inputs "No Data" or a "0". On any given day up to three cars can be driven but it is still possible that only one will be driven. This is shown in the second table below. I'd like to be able to create an automated summary table such as the first table below. The summary table should be organized by date and show what cars were driven and their attributes. I know this seems simple but in reality I have six different cars and up to 10 attributes for each car and will be pulling months at a time. The only thought I have had is to do a for loop that checks every individual cell but I am not sure how to implement that.
I have multiple tabs for each month (Jan, Feb, etc) for the 2008 year and I have a Summary tab.
For the individual months, I have each calendar day in a column and whether the day was for sick, vacation, etc in the rows. So if someone was sick in April, I would mark the day they were out of the office. And so on...
Well now I need to figure out how I can take those individual dates and total them up in the summary page automatically.
