Hey guys, I'm from a Laptop Repair Company. Sorry to barge in here and ask for help randomly, but any suggestions would be greatly greatly appreciated. I post mostly on Actionscript forums to help others using AS3.0, so if you have a question there I could definitely help you lol
I have 2 .xls documents with customer contact information. One has a list of old contacts I need to remove which is about 3k this list contains only email addresses. The other contains the full list of Customers this list is about 11k this contains everything from first/last name to billing and email addresses.
My goal is to double check to see which addresses are just typos and which are non-working.
I will need to go through the list line by line but better to only go through 3000 than 11000. So, I need to somehow remove all of the good addresses from the full list using the bad address list which is only 3k long.
The code below is supposed to sort and remove duplicates in the sheet in column A. So far it sorts, but I get an error when it tries to remove duplicates. I get an invalid object error.
Code: Sub sort_And_Remove_Dups_Top5_Open_And_Open() Dim lngLr As Long With Sheets("Top 5 Clients")
I'm using excel 2007 and windows vista. I have 2 cells, A1 contains (01,) and B1 contains (01, 08). I want the result in cell C1 to be (01, 08) by calling function trim_sort($A1&$B1). The code gives me an error "invalid qualifier" for s.length & more.
I am currently using the following to populate the choices in my ComboBox:
For Each rngX In Range("Watchlist_Source_Menu").Cells If Len(rngX.Value) > 0 Then ComboBox2.AddItem rngX.Value End If Next
The range "Watchlist_Source_Menu" is p4:p104. It works fin but if there are duplicates in that range it duplicates the choices in the ComboBox. Is there a way that I can only show unique choices and show them alphabetized in the combo box upon intializing the userform?
Is it possible to take a list that is alphabetized in the following manner--Jones, Mary--, convert it to Mary Jones while also removing the comma after the name?
The =TRIM and =MID formulas that I saw in another thread both seem to convert the text, but they also leave the comma at the end.
Currently use this macro (see below) but occasionally I have more rows than 842. I could increase to 10000 and this would work but looking for a more automated macro that will automatically remove duplicates from all rows i.e. a macro that works out all rows.
Sub copyTab() Cells.Select Selection.Copy Sheets("filtered_data").Select Range("A1").Select ActiveSheet.Paste Columns("A:A").Select Application.CutCopyMode = False ActiveSheet.Range("$A$1:$J$842").RemoveDuplicates Columns:=1, Header:=xlYes End Sub
I need a listbox or combobox in an excel form whos list is created from 2 ranges. for example first name is range a2:a500 second name is rangne b2:b500. the list box should list both coloums in a single list and return the row number. better still if it does not list blank ranges. i have never used a list or combo box before so please explain in terms a simplton can undrstand
I have a large excel file with the top seven rows such as you see in the attached file. In row five there is a bunch of info before the month and the year. What I want to do is get rid of that info besides the month and year. I than want to sort each column by the month and year so that all the columns are in sequential order.
I have a list of parts in a table. I am manually copy/pasting this list to another sheet in my workbook and then using DATA→Remove Duplicates to get a shortened list. Is there a way to automate this process?
In the attached workbook I want the yellow cells to auto-fill for me.
I get a lot of lists in the format on the left hand side so I want excel to automatically format them for me so that I can use the output on the right.
I have a list in rows where I have a ranking formula =COUNT($G$5:$G$81)-(RANK(G5,$G$5:$G$81)+ COUNTIF($G$5:G5,G5)-1)+1 When I sort the rank, ascending. All of the unique numbers sort ascending, but the non-unique numbers sort descending
I have found a very useful UDF for removing non-alpha characters from strings. (See below, Credit for posting to Stanley D Grom - Ozgrid post ´Removing Non-alpha Characters From Text´).
Option Explicit
Private Function RemoveCharacters(InString As String) As String Dim intLoopCounter As Integer Dim intStringLength As Integer Dim intASCIIVal As Integer intStringLength = Len(InString) InString = LCase(InString) For intLoopCounter = 1 To intStringLength intASCIIVal = Asc(Mid(InString, intLoopCounter, 1)) If intASCIIVal >= 97 And intASCIIVal <= 122 Then RemoveCharacters = RemoveCharacters + Mid(InString, intLoopCounter, 1) End If Next intLoopCounter End Function
Two requests:
1. Could the UDF be modified such that any part of a string contained within brackets is also removed (e.g. "NLGA High Street (West-Enfield), EN6" becomes "nlgahighstreeten")?
2. Can an argument be added to the format of the UDF, such that numbers (0 to 9) are either included or excluded (e.g. RemoveCharacters(A1,1) where the argument ´1´ would include any numbers (0 to 9), so "NLGA2003 High Street (West-Enfield), EN6" becomes "nlga2003highstreeten6")? ´blank´or ´0´would exclude these numbers, i.e. would return "nlgahighstreeten"
Is it possible to make excel sort ascending or descending but from mid way through alphabet and then loop through the alphabet again. for example. If Cell A1 had "A" in, it would sort as normal.
Cell A1 = A Cell A2 = B Cell A3 = C Cell A4 = D Cell A5 = E
If Cell A1 had "C" in, it would sort from "C" through the alphabet and then loop to the start of the alphabet as shown below.
Cell A1 = C Cell A2 = D Cell A3 = E Cell A4 = A Cell A5 = B
As of right now these are the steps i do to sort...i click custom sort choose My data has headers and then i select from the drop down list the word FRNAME.
is there any way i can setup a macro to do this for me? i tried recording the macro but it just is recording me choosing the column FRNAME is in. This does not work for me since FRNAME end up being in different columns all the time but will always be in row 1.
I would like to ask if it is possible to sort a range of row? What I mean is, if I sort like Row 1, the entire block of row 1 will move as well? Like if i have column A to F, then row 1 of column A to F will move together at the same time.
I am looking for a macro to sort my colums in ascending order the range i need sorted is from A7:F107, it will be sorted with the numbers in the A column ie 1 - 107. sometimes different numbers get added and it has to be sorted in number sequence.
If possible i would also like a macro to protect this range after the sort,
I am trying to sort a long range of text that is placed horizontally in a spreadsheet. I can do it vertically with the sort function in Excel but it does not seem to work for text that is placed horizontally. Example is as below:
I have this massive spreadsheet, with the maximum rows excel will fit on one sheet. In the interest of simplicity, this is what the raw data looks like:
Last First Amount
Jones Jim $1000 Jung Joe $700 White Jon $100 Jones Jim $200 Jones Jan $300 Jung Joe $800 White Jon $200
What I want to do is automatically get excel to group all the same names together. Then I want it to sum all the values for each name, then order by largest total value for each person, then order that by name alphabetically. In other words, the above would look like this after the sort:
Last First Amount Jung Joe $800 Jung Joe $700 Jones Jim $1000 Jones Jim $200 Jones Jan $300 White Jon $200 White Jon $100
Or, if necessary, there could be sum total rows under each name...although I don't have spare rows, so IDK. I could delete some rows if I had to, but would rather not.
I've located the following color sort VBA that sorts worksheets by color and it is working well. I'm trying to modify the code to sort each of the "color grouped" sheets alphabetically. That is, sort by color and then each color group sorted alphabetically.
VB: Sub SortWorksheetsByColor(Optional ByVal SortByAsc As Boolean = True)
Dim i As Long Dim j As Long Dim ShtC() As Long Dim ShtN() As String Dim t, n As Long Dim lngSU As Long
I havet he following code which sorts data. If there is no data to sort I keep on getting a run time error. Could I add something to my code to prevent the run-time error, as sometime there won't be any data to sort. The code runs when I switch to the worksheet in question.
Sub SortMeetings() Dim iCTR As Integer Dim yCTR As Integer Dim zCTR As Integer
zCTR = 11 For iCTR = 12 To 23 For yCTR = 1 To 10 If Len(Range("D" & iCTR).Offset(0, yCTR)) 0 Then Range("AA" & zCTR).Value = Format(Range("D" & iCTR).Offset(0, yCTR), "HH:MM") & " " & Range("D" & iCTR).Value zCTR = zCTR + 1 End If Next yCTR Next iCTR Range("AA11:AA" & zCTR).Select Selection.Sort Key1:=Range("AA11"), Order1:=xlAscending, Header:=xlGuess, _ OrderCustom:=1, MatchCase:=False, Orientation:=xlTopToBottom, _ DataOption1:=xlSortNormal End Sub
I need a VBA that will look through a spreadsheet in a specific range and clear any cell values of 0. The range would be Columns E,F,G,H,I,J,K,L all the way up to row 4000.
I am trying to find the solution for the problem I faced after downloading the "Color Filter" utility from this forum (Handle Duplicates & Color Filter)
I really do not understand why I was banned. I've downloaded utility from THIS forum and have kindly asked help on how to remove it because it does not meet my needs. I am not an expert in VBA and expected that somebody could help me. (It looks like the person providing the utility in the above indicated post shared the password as everybody is thanking him but I don't see where it is!)
I just want to remove the utility from my PC!!! And, if I can do this without bloody password than I do not want it! But, can somebody just explain me if there is another way to remove this from my PC or I have to reinstall EXCEL ?
I must say that I find it really increadible for beeing banned twice for no reason. Isn't it worse to place the password protected utility so that the one dowloading it cannot remove it anymore?
I'm trying to sort numbers from an outline, so I want to sort it as 1.1, 1.2, 1.3...1.10, 1.11, and so on. Excel sorts them as 1.1, 1.10, 1.11...1.2, 1.3.
I have tried changing the format to several different types, including Number, Text, Decimal, and cannot get Excel to sort it in the correct order for an outline.
I need some code to attach to a button that will sort data in H3:CA770 in descending order, the catch is I need this to sort on by the column to the most right with data in it.
I use rows 1 & 2 as a header so there will always be data in that, so I need the button to sort my worksheet based on the last column with data in it. The sheet will be updated monthly so I dont want to creat 12 different sort buttons.
