Automatic Data Selection?

Oct 14, 2008

I'm trying to create a new spreadsheet to keep a record of orders recieved.

the example attached. What I would like to do is:-

Enter data in the Order Sheet (Sheet 1) under Column C, from a drop down menu taken from Data Sheet (Sheet 2) Column B. I then want Excel to filter the items available from Sheet 2 that correspond to the colour chosen, and once that has been done, I want the part number to be automatically entered.

For example, I order a Red pen, I type/select Red in C2 in D2, I then want Excel to only show the items related to the Red pen Fine nib rd123, Medium nib rd234, Thick nib rd345.

Automatic Selection Of Choices On Screen?

Dec 12, 2013

I am writing a simple application that allows users to enter an item ID and execute a find. If the data is found, the UserForm populates with the pertinent data for the requested ID otherwise a message indicates Item not on file. The file being interrogated is an Excel workbook with multiple functions, unrelated to my task.

The problem: When my application opens the workbook to perform the Find, the screen displays a message generated by Excel, informing the user that the workbook contains links to other data sources and requesting to choose to either Update or Don't Update those links.

I used the Application.DisplayAlerts=False line but it has no effect on above. The choice I always make is Don't Update and the macro continues to the end without further ados.

Is there a way to either cancel such a screen request or automatically select a given option?

Automatic Selection Of Parts Of Lists To Other Sheets

Mar 25, 2013

I was wondering if there is an easy function that would copy only some part of a list as if like I select a category.

Let me elaborate. As in a previous post i have a list of apartments and a set of categories (locations, tube stations, number rooms, distance to tube stations, etc).

I want to get all the items that are the same from a category and post them automaticly on another sheet to single them out, for instance all of them that are on Liverpool Street station or all of them that have 2 rooms.

Is there a simple way to do this or do I have to get a macro to read my whole list? I ask cause I am continuasly updating the list and don't want to recreate the formula all the time.

Dividing A Series Of Numbers In Specific Selection Of Cells

Dec 19, 2006

I have a txt file imported into excel that's slightly strange.

But once into excel, I need to edit some numbers.

The values in cell B 23 is 1.

So is the value in B 28, so is the value in B 33, B38, B 43 and so forth ad infinitum... Or so it feels.

I need to edit all those values to 0.

Ensure/Force Selection Of Single Point Of Chart Series

Jun 18, 2008

I have an XY chart that I would like to have the user select a single data point in the chart and be able to add a comment in a table corresponding to that point. For example: if the x-values are in A1:A10, y-values are in B1:B10, the user can select a point, say the 4th point, have some code run that will enter a text string into cell C4. I can manage the code to add the text to the appropriate location, but I'm having trouble with 2 things.

First, how can I ensure that the user has selected a single point (as opposed to the entire series or the chart background)?

And second, how can I determine which point is selected? I think I need to determine the point's item number in the SeriesCollection, then offset that number of rows in my data table. But I can't find a way to retrieve that number.

200 Series But Get (The Maximum Number Of Series Per Chart Is 255) Error Message

Aug 4, 2014

I run a large simulation experiment. I have a loop plotting data in excel of a user defined area. Because of the limit of 255 series I have allowed a maximum of 250 simulations (they all need to be plotted). But the length of each simulation is free. I know there is a limit of 32.000 data points in a graph and I have this as a condition too.

If I set the data range to 100 columns and 3000 rows the graph is produced when I plot by columns. (code below)

But if I set the data range to 250 columns and 1000 rows I get the above mentioned error message. Even though I only have 250 series.

After the data is plotted it is the code below that gets the error:

Line Chart - Remove Series Code But What If No Series Exists?

Dec 22, 2011

I have the following code:

ActiveSheet.ChartObjects("Chart 243").Activate
ActiveSheet.ChartObjects("Chart 243").Activate
ActiveChart.SeriesCollection(1).Delete
ActiveChart.SeriesCollection(2).Delete
End Sub

However, if there is no SereisCollection(1) actually present in the chart I get an error. How can I work around this? I will need an IF statement I assume, just not sure what it will look like.

Show Chart Data Series Labels On All Series. 2007

May 31, 2008

I just recently installed Excel 2007 and I would like to know if it's possible to change all data points of a chart at the same time. In Excel 2003, I would normally hold down shift while clicking on each of the data points to make a global change. However, it appears I cannot do that in 2007.

I would like to display each data point's series name. When I go to Layout on the Excel Ribbon, and click on "Data Labels", and click on "More Data Label Options", the actual Y-axis values are shown for each data point. However, I do not want this - I actually only want the Series Name, but when I uncheck "Value" and check "Series Name" instead (under "Label Contains"), it only changes it for one of the series. Is there a better way, instead of going through each and every single series to make this change?

Color Pivot Chart Series Dependant On Series Name

I want the pivot chart to format the bars on the chart relevant to the series name. The series names are "R" "A" amd "G" for Red Amber and Green respectively, I want the chart to change the colour of the series so that it is the correct colour ie. Suppress Printing With VBA

Mar 20, 2009

What i have is over 20 worksheets which have information on them that i want to print when selected so, i have a "main page" with a variety of options for the user to select (by check box) and when they are happy with their selection you would click another check box to print out, i have done this because the printer is set well away from the users and if they printed of sheet by sheet then lots of miles treading back and forth to the printer room would happen so, i thought by doing it this way it would batch print all selected sheets after selection, the code is set up to print all sheets which are selected by "true" in cell O2.

This is no problem as it works well but the code also prints when the check box is de selected. What I would like is a message box to appear before the main macro runs for the user to select "yes or no" to confirm printing. I have put code in this for the command but it will not run the main magro if you select "yes"...below is the code for the main print loop...I think the code for print message should appear before this...

Suppress Zero Values On Charts

Feb 6, 2007

I have created a dynamic chart using defined names, and the cells in the range are updated on a monthly basis. However these cells are copied from another sheet using a formula i.e =sheetname!$cell_no. and until that data is entered they have 0 values - my question is, is there a way to suppress the 0 values which are being 'plotted' on the dynamic chart until they have appropriate values?

Summing Series Of Maximums In Larger Series

Aug 22, 2014

I consider myself decent at Excel, but I don't have quite the depth of knowledge I would like. Here is my issue:

I currently have a series of 50 numbers for each row on a 300 row spreadsheet. I would like to write a formula that identifies the six largest numbers in that series and adds them together. So, for example, if the series was 8-6-4-4-4-5-1-1-0-15-3-9, the formula would spit out 47 (15+9+8+6+5+4)

How do I write that kind of formula?

Chart - Second Series Starts Where First Series Ends?

Sep 21, 2011

I would like to have two series of data using the same X axis (date, formatted in months). The Y axis is in intervals of 100,000.

The first data series is historical (actual) data (i.e. Jan 2009 to August 2011). The second data series is forecast (Sept 2011 - August 2012). So i want the forecast series to start immediately after the historical series. It is a 'line with markers' chart. The key objective is that the forecast data looks visually distinct from the historial series.

OS: Windows 7
