Textbox Enter Key To Force Execute Commandbutton

May 26, 2007

In my userform, I have a textbox where I enter a number.

When I hit the return key in the textbox, I want the userform to act like I hit a commandbutton_Click. (The commandbutton_Click takes the contents of the textbox and locates a line with that number in it in a specific worksheet, and then displays the line of info in other textboxes in the userform).

I have not been able to figure this out.

Force 'Save As' Through CommandButton

Apr 1, 2009

I have created a tool in excel to facilitate different requests from our sales force. A drop down list in the first worksheet lists the request types. Once the type is selected the user clicks a command button that sends the user to the corresponding worksheet specific to the request type.

My problem is that I need to verify that the cells on the specific worksheet have all been completed. I tried to verify when saving in the workbook module, but I don't know how to only check the selected request worksheet.

One thought was to insert save command buttons on each worksheet and only allow saving through those buttons. (So I would need to remove any saving functionality from the file menu/toolbar.) Then I could attach the verification code to that button on each worksheet. Preventing saving until the requested data was entered.

If this methodology will work I need to know how to do the following:

1) remove alternative saving methods

2) Once those methods are removed, how do I code a command button to check that specific cells are not null and then "save as".

3) if cells are null then, stop save and show msgbox.

I am working in Excel 2003.

Enter Key To Trigger CommandButton Click Event

Jun 24, 2007

I am working with a large legacy file/program which has a lot of issues. Foremost, and unfortunately this cannot be changed, is that all of the controls were placed directly on the worksheets instead of on Userforms. The actual code from the legacy file is excessively complicated, so I created this simple example. Sheet1 has one textbox and one command button. Sheet 2 is blank. I want to be able to click the command button or use the Enter key on the command button, to trigger the Click Event. Clicking works fine. When using Enter, if Sheet2.Activate is commented, everything works fine. If Sheet2.Activate is executed, then Excel crashes.

Private Sub TextBox1_KeyDown(ByVal KeyCode As MSForms.ReturnInteger, ByVal Shift As Integer)
Dim bBackwards As Boolean
Select Case KeyCode
'Only look for tab, return, down arrow, up arrow
Case vbKeyTab, vbKeyReturn, vbKeyDown, vbKeyUp
Application. ScreenUpdating = False
'Do we need to go back to previous control
bBackwards = CBool(Shift And 1) Or (KeyCode = vbKeyUp)
If bBackwards Then TextBox1.Activate Else CommandButton1.Activate
Application.ScreenUpdating = True
End Select
End Sub
Private Sub CommandButton1_KeyDown(ByVal KeyCode As MSForms.ReturnInteger, ByVal Shift As Integer)
Dim bBackwards, bForwards As Boolean
Select Case KeyCode
Case vbKeyTab, vbKeyReturn, vbKeyDown, vbKeyUp
Application.ScreenUpdating = False...................

Force Value In Userform Textbox

Feb 25, 2008

I have a UserForm that requires a value in TextBox10. I load a "1" into it at start up. If the user tries to delete the value in TextBox10 and exit, leaving either "" or 0 in the TextBox, it will cause a great many problems. I need someway to keep the focus in TextBox10.

I tried to find something using the search engine but I could not find anything searching with this subject.

Here is the code from my first attempt:

Private Sub TextBox10_Exit(ByVal Cancel As MSForms.ReturnBoolean)

If TextBox10.Value = 0 Or TextBox10.Value = vbNullString Then
TextBox10.SetFocus
Exit Sub
End If

It doesn't seem to do anything. When I delete whatever is in the Textbox and hit enter, it should just stay in TextBox10 but instead it goes to the next tab location.

Force Correct Sentence Case In TextBox

Sep 21, 2007

I want to force a UserForm TextBox to format the text typed in to have the first letter of each sentence capitalized and all other letters to be lower case when I exit the TextBox.

TextBox1.Text = Application.AutoCorrect.CorrectSentenceCap = True

But when I used it with the TextBox Exit event, it deleted the text I had typed in and replaces it with the word "True".

Is there any other way to format text to capitalize only the first letter of each sentence?

Just realized that I might not need the "TextBox.Text =" so I removed it. The text was not deleted, but it was not capitalized either.

Force Textbox Vertical Scroll Position To Top After Value Change

May 13, 2009

When a userform textbox value is changed, if the vertical scrollbars were shown previously (due to more text than displayed size) and is still required for new value, how do you reset the scrollbar/textbox value back to the top (if it was previously scrolled down by the user). If teh scrool bar is no longer required for new value (due to sufficient space to display new value without scrollbars), how do you remove/hide the scrollbar again until needed.

Inscribing Cells: Run A Macro On Enter Keypress, That Would Execute Different Code Depending On That "inscription" That Would Be Invisible To User

Feb 20, 2007

Is there any way to "Inscribe" a cell? I would like to run a macro on Enter keypress, that would execute different code depending on that "inscription" that would be invisible to user. I could use some properties of . Validation property like this:

Private Sub EnterPressed
'following code to ensure proper functioning of Enter in any other Worksheet
If ActiveSheet <> mySheet 'MySheet is global Variable then
ActiveCell.Offset(1,0).Select
exit Sub
End If
'now the real code
If ActiveCell.Validation.InputMessage = "1" Then
ActiveCell.Offset(0,1).Select
Else
'something else
End If
End Sub

The problem is, I use Data Validation and Conditional Formatting, so can't use any of these properties.

My problem is sometimes i would to enter the price as a fraction, e.g. 1/2 and other i would like to enter the price as a decimal, e.g. 1.5. At the moment if i enter the price as a decimal figure this will convert it to a fraction in column D of the 'unsettled hedges' worksheet.

Enter Data In Textbox And Go To Cell Containing That Text

Oct 19, 2011

I have a very long spreadsheet with about 3000 rows. lets say for simplicity that column A contains a list of product ID numbers. I am looking for some macro code where I can just type in the product ID into a textbox, then hit enter (or a 'go' button) and then the cursor will move to the cell containing the part number.

I know Ctrl+F will do the job for me, but because of the frequency that I do these searches, a text input box would be easier still.

The nearest solution I could find was the one here Find text but its a bit 'overkill' for my needs.

The cell that the textbox writes to is determined by the combination of choices selected in the comboboxes. The comboboxes are searching as required but I don't know how to determine which cell to write my data from the textbox to. I'll attempt to clarify...combobox1(drivename) searches the data in column C, combobox2(unconformlist) searches the data in column H. The combination of these determines a specific row and I need to write data from the textbox(initials) into this row in column M.

initials = UCase(initials)
End Sub
