If this happens i want to force them to enter something into the next cell B3.

Force Enter Data In 5 Separate Cells In Worksheet
Jul 24, 2014I am trying to force users to enter data in 5 separate cells in a worksheet. I have tried editing code I have found here, but just can't get it to work.
It is in the second sheet of the workbook and the sheet is called Invoice - the cells I want to force entry into (and the message I need) are as follows.
J2 - You must enter the salesperson's name
J4 - You must enter the customers name
J5 - You must enter the customer's address
J6 - You must enter the customer's postcode
L2 - You must enter the Invoice number

My form is working but which I want is that users should first fill up txtFirstName Text Box. Otherwise we will not able to do edit his/ her name in the last Name Text Box (TxtLastName).

Textbox Enter Key To Force Execute Commandbutton
May 26, 2007In my userform, I have a textbox where I enter a number.
When I hit the return key in the textbox, I want the userform to act like I hit a commandbutton_Click. (The commandbutton_Click takes the contents of the textbox and locates a line with that number in it in a specific worksheet, and then displays the line of info in other textboxes in the userform).
I have not been able to figure this out.

Ensure/Force Selection Of Single Point Of Chart Series
Jun 18, 2008I have an XY chart that I would like to have the user select a single data point in the chart and be able to add a comment in a table corresponding to that point. For example: if the x-values are in A1:A10, y-values are in B1:B10, the user can select a point, say the 4th point, have some code run that will enter a text string into cell C4. I can manage the code to add the text to the appropriate location, but I'm having trouble with 2 things.
First, how can I ensure that the user has selected a single point (as opposed to the entire series or the chart background)?
And second, how can I determine which point is selected? I think I need to determine the point's item number in the SeriesCollection, then offset that number of rows in my data table. But I can't find a way to retrieve that number.
Highlighted Cells (enter A Character And For Each Cell Within The Selection That Value Is Entered)

Enter 4 Columns Of Data In Row Then Shift After Hitting Enter?

I would like to enter data in a row with 4 cells of info. then hit enter and return to the first cell and move the row down. all four cells must have data entered. and all four must move down. i tried some code as below i found and i modified but it did not work as expected. this moved the row down when returning the cursor to A2. It also should not copy the data style of the top row.

Single Cell Value From Either Dropdown List Or Enter Manually Depending On Selection
Jun 22, 2014I have a cell in my spreadsheet that I use to control the size of a column. I formatted the cell as a number and added data validation to make sure the number is greater than zero. Then I realized that I need to also allow for the option of auto sizing the column as well. This would require a data validation list type with something like True and False for the choices.
What I want to be able to do is have it both ways. I want a drop down list in that cell with the options Auto Size or Custom. If Auto Size is selected the cell value gets set to that. If Custom is selected I then want to be able to type in a number.

Is there a way to setup a cell such that the value is either an item from the drop down list or, entered directly (depending on the list selection)?
I know I can do it with dependent lists but that would require two cells, one for the auto size mode (true/false) and the other for manual width value.
Force Data Entry If Another Cell Contains Data
Aug 21, 2007I've been searching but I can't find an answer that fits. Here's the closest I've come. Force Date Entry on Particular Condition. What I need is if A10 has any data in it then I want a box to pop up that instructs the user to input data into B10 they click OK and then enter the data. Once the user inputs data into B10 then the error should be cleared. If they don't enter data then the error should keep coming back.

Feb 8, 2007I have a workbook that pulls in index data from Bloomberg, most data is updated realtime, but one index we track is only updated late at night. I want to write a macro that will refresh all of the data in the worksheet and then save a snapshot of the workbook. I have all the code for saving the snapshot, but getting the data for the one index to refresh is proving difficult. None of the standard ways I know to refresh external data (both Excel commands via tools menu, and Bloomberg specific refresh commands) seem to work on these cells. The only way so far I've found to get these cells to pull in current data is to delete them and rewrite the formulas.
suggestion for a Macro that would force a refresh of this data?

Dec 30, 2007I found the following code which works fine until I start to select multiple cells in cell B for deletion etc. At this point it throws up a run-time error 13 type mismatch, which will cause problems when other people start to use the spreadsheet.

The "problem" is that when the user moves to another application to do other work, the user form remains hidden behind the active app. I've added some text to the status bar to let the users know the processing is done, but they would like something more obvious - so, is there any way I can force focus back to Excel?

Feb 23, 2007I've been using Excel for years and had very few issues. However, I recently went into a spreadsheet to update it and was unable to select and enter data into an individual cell. When I click on a cell and try to enter #s nothing happens (my num lock is on). Then when I try to click into another cell it just highlights that cell, along with any other that I move my cursor over. Once I click on one cell I can't stop the highlighting from happening. I can't even click on anything in the toolbar.

- copies rows from one sheet into another sheet based on a set of criteria
- the very very very first time the macro is run, the first row of data should be put into row 7 (formatting reasons)
- however, every other time it's run it should paste into the next clear row.
But, what is happening is that, each time its run, it puts the data into row 7 => overwriting data.
I've used the offset and counter function but perhaps I need to put it in the header of the code to get it working?

Enter Data In A Formula Cell
Mar 12, 2007Is there a way to add data into a cell that already had a formula? Lets say in cell A1 we have a formula like "=A1*A2". Would I be able to some how enter a value into cell A1 without changing the formula?
Example: enter value "5" into A2 and value "10" into A1 which would result in A1 value being "50" after value is entered.
I know that this creates a circular error but is there any other way to accomplish this?

Aug 25, 2012I need a simple macro to enter data for hours worked, but don't like the inputbox.
I need to enter the Emp Nbr in B1.
AM in Time in B3
AM out Time in B4
PM in Time in B7
PM out Time in B8
I then write down the hours worked and
Return to B1
When I enter an new number, I want it to put 0 in B3,B4,B7 and B8
(see attached) Oops can't post. There is probably a better way to calculate the sub-totals, but this works except on an enter of 1200
