Any cleanest way to track the high-water mark of the price of a stock I own ONLY AFTER my date of purchase.
Each day I log on, a VLookup pulls up the recent stock price. How can I create a formula that will store this price and compare it to the stock price the next time I log in and save the highest of the two prices for the next day's comparison.
Day 1 $10
Day 2 $11- The $10 is replaced by $11
Day 3 $10- The $11 is retained.
Day 4 $12- The $11 is replaced by $12.
I have an interesting problem (I hope you find it interesting too). I'm trying to find the historical "high" day of the week for a particular stock I follow. I searched for several hours but was honestly unable to make any progress. Normally I do my own formulas, so other than pasting a rare macro, that's pretty much the extent of my (lack of) experience, ie please assume I am a novice....
I have been sent a price list from a supplier and need to create an order form that can be populated from the price lists. I have to pages of price list as well. I will also be adding to these as I start getting other supplied product and need my client to be able to generate a order from these in the simplest way possible. Again I hardly use excel and these docs are all sent in excel format.
I am creating a spreadsheet to track customers contact information and purchase history.
A B C D 1 First Name Last Name Phone Number Etc. 2 Mike Jones 3
I wanted to know if theres a way to click on a customer (say Mike Jones) and be able to enter and view purchase history information relating to that customer in either a drop down box or different sheet?
ex. Mike Jones Date Item Spent Last Contacted 4/24 Toy $500 4/31 5/16 Movie $15 5/20
I am looking for this one function i need for a school project on historical stock prices in excel.....basically i need a way to perform this function:
In row 1, i have 30 RANDOM historical dates, starting in B1 and going right In column A, i have 10 stock symbols, starting in A2 and going down
Is there a way to automatically grab the ADJUSTED CLOSING PRICE for each symbol for each corresponding date?? if not i have to do it manually!!
I have a spreadsheet that tries to model a possible stock price movement in a column. So in column A I have all dates starting from today and in Column B a specific stock's possible stock price movemens onver the next 2 years.
So dates start at A3 and stock prices start at B3 and end at A734 and B734.
This gives me ONE possible stock movement and to get the most accurate movement, I will need to model this 20,000 times.
Therefore, I want to create a loop macro that repeat this motion 20,000 times in the columns next to A and B. So which loop effect would I need to use and how would the code look like ? This is honestly my first time attempting to use a loop macro
I would like to create an Excel worksheet with links to external real-time sources for stock quotes so that I can evaluate information based on real-time stock quotes.
Currently I am using MS office 2000 premium. I would like to implement real-time stock prices (i.e. ticker MSFT) from the Nasdaq website (NASDAQ Stock Market - Stock Quotes - Stock Exchange News - NASDAQ.com) into a single cell, so that this cell shows the current stock price only.
By a click on the hyperlink symbol in the excel sheet I entered the following information... Microsoft Corporation (MSFT) Real-Time Stock Quote - NASDAQ.com and clicked the OK button.
Instead of receiving the real-time stock price information directly into the single cell, a new window opens with the Nasdaq website and all kinds of information that is not needed.
I have created a stock sheet on Sheet1, i have say 100 items and each item has a min and max stock order. Once the item hits a min low, the last cell (O) will display an order needs to be placed.
I was wondering if there way a way that on sheet2, it can calculate all the data on sheet1 and if there is stock that needs to be ordered, it will appear on sheet2?
This way i can just print sheet2 and send it to the supplier without having the entire 100 items displayed -if it does not need to be ordered?
I am trying to capture the date at which my portfolio was at it's highest. I enter the value of my portfolio in H35. F36 is where I am trying to capture the date at which my portfolio was the highest. If a previous date was higher, leave as is.
This presents a problem of a circular reference, but do not know a way around this.
I have the following formula in F36 =IF(H35>G36,(F37),(F36))
In the attached workbook - the stock Inventory is increased, every second day, by the value shown in cells of column A. Column B displays the date of the update. I'm looking for a Formula (might be an Array Formula) that will return the latest date before the stock turns to be greater than the value in cell D3. I managed to solve it, in cell F3, but with the help column C.
What I have is an output of about 30 worksheets of individual stock data in a workbook, all with the same column headings, laid out like the following (so that the Column Headings are stock data as recorded on the Date in Column A): <Stock Name> <Date> <Price> <Price to Book> <etc.> with the stock titles also as the names of the worksheet.
What I want to do is create a macro that outputs to a single worksheet where I can input the stock name and a certain date for the stock, and then have it insert the appropriate row from the stock's worksheet underneath.
So, if I say I want the data for Stock A on March 24, 2007, I can input those two and have it output the appropriate rows from the worksheet. Or, more generally, I can create a list of stock names and dates, and have the macro output that data underneath.
I need J22 to multiply based on years in B22 AND increase 5% for each of those years (compounding) after two years (excludes year 1 from 5% increase). In addition the cell needs to remain blank if D22 is blank. B22 = 1, then the stockprice needs to remain the same, and only increase by 5% after year 1.
Currently... B22 = a number of years indicated by the formula: =IF(A22="","",DATEDIF(A22,I3,"y")) J22 =IF(ISNA(VLOOKUP(D22,stockprices,2,FALSE)),"",VLOOKUP(D22,stockprices,2,FALSE))
Example:
If J22 stockprice lookup is $1000.00, and the number of years listed in B22 is 6, then the reported value in J22 needs to be $1494.40.
I have calculated the implied volatility for different single options using the newton raphson method. But, I also need to calculate the implied volatility which minimizes the sum of squared differences between the observed market price and the model price for each day. I guess one needs to use vectors (jacobian matrix) to do this, but I do not know how to expand the code to be able to do this. Anyone have any idea how this can be done? I have attached the [code] I have used to calculate the implied volatility for one option.
I am trying to find the median for a huge amount of data, so I have cut it down to just an example size. I have uploaded a copy of the example file.
I have three price ranges that I have to find the median for:
Under $5MM $5 MM - $25 MM $26 MM - $56 MM
I need to find the median for each price range for Signed units and Sold units. I also have to find a median within a date range (e.g. within the last six months) that includes the previous criteria.
For the first formula, I have tried using the following formulas:
What I need is a formula that finds the ticker (actually it is a CRSP permanent number) and the date in Sheet 1 and returns the price in Sheet 2 (cell B2 etc.), and if no price is available, return 0.
I have attached a shrinked example (the actual dataset contains more than 150.000 observations). example.xlsx
Is it possible with 1 formula and avoid to create 300+ individual formulas.
The background info: each day we check the prices of bananas, sometimes we check 2, 3 or 4 times in the same day, and sometimes the price that is checked is the same, but most of the time the price is diferent throughout the day.
We need to know the average dayly price for a particular day, while taking in consideration that some days we have 3 diff prices, and some others we only have 2 or even just 1 price that was checked and thats the price for that day.
we have the following spreadsheet
Column A = Dates Dates when a price was checked, note here that there might be days of the year when in a single day the price is checked 2 or 3 times, and sometimes the price is different on the same day.
Column B = Price The price checked on the date indicated in column A
Column C = Daily Avg Price Date is just a date range from 08/1/11 to 07/31/12, a single day on each cell, that is intended to be the day reference for column D. C1 = 8/1/11, C2 = 8/2/11, C3= 8/3/11 and so on until 7/31/12
Column D = Daily Avg Price In this column we need to show the average daily price calculated from the prices and dates in columns A and B.
For example: when C1 equals 8/1/11, then D1 has to equal the average price for the product, taking in consideration the amount of prices annotated for that day in column A, with the prices of Column B for that day and providing the average price.
I could have had an easy =Average formula but, since sometimes we have 3 or 2 or 4 equal or different prices in one single day in column A, I dont have a constant for the data range for excel to calculate an average.
My only current solution is to go on each cell on column D and writing the average formula selecting the range that would apply for that average price. But that is taking so much time, and i have multiple other products and year ranges and markets that require this same answer.
The analysis basically has 2 data components to it: The 1st part, is a basic transaction list of shopping items bought through the year. Each transaction's shopping item also has the quantity of that item purchased at that time.
The 2nd part, is a pricing sheet for all the different types of shopping items. The pricing sheet has different prices for different quantities at which the item is purchased.
What I am trying to do is to find the relevant price for shopping item, which depends on not only what the item is, but also the quantity. In point form, it should follow the logic below:
1) Identify the item in the shopping list (worksheet 1) from the list of prices (worksheet 2)
2) Find quantity in the prices worksheet that is closest to the quantity in the shopping list (i.e. where the difference between the quantity on transaction list and the quantity on the pricing sheet is the least)
3) Pull the price for this "closest quantity"
I have uploaded a worksheet showing the structure of that data. [url]
Is there some VB code I need to do this, or can it just be a few simple formulas?
All data is located within one book. I have two sheets with material codes in each sheet which include pricing (existing and current)
Sheet1 (has existing material codes plus existing pricing) Has about 1200 lines Sheet2 (has current material codes plus current pricing), has about 36000 lines
I need to cross check if the material code (taken from sheet1) are still available in sheet2, and if they are, copy the current price back to sheet1. The current price needs to be pasted back into sheet1 (next to the existing price). If the material code doesn't exist (for whatever reason, in sheet2), the program needs to move onto the next line and leave the current price for that material code blank. The program should finish once all the lines in sheet1 are completed. I have attached a sample of what I'm trying to do,
I have have a large array of prices (across rows) and am looking for the closest price to match a price that I have been provided with. It's a basic benchmarking exercise on a row by row basis....and the price can be positive or negative. Is there a clean way to reference the closest price?
I have come across a fair amount of solutions, but none worked optimally - particularly the =INDEX(Data,MATCH(MIN(ABS(Data-Target)),ABS(Data-Target),0)) approach....it just didn't work for some lines, and only worked for values less than source price in other instances.
I would also like to reference the source on the next column.
We have a specific time frame for WIP and to purchase new supplies before they run out.
I've setup a worksheet with the various materials and time for each. With the help from past post, I was able to return the time frame before our next purchase.
I am trying to enter a formula that will automatically suggest a purchase quantity by comparing the pieces needed against the required package quantity. I have attached a small example workbook, which has a description of the requirements for the formula, but I will also incude that description in this post.
Problem Description: Our purchasing guideline is that we MUST order product in package quantities, as the vendor won't ship a partial package. The required package quantity for each part is shown in column B. If the pcs needed qty in column A is less than half the buy pack qty, you buy zero. If it is half or above, you buy a full package.
I want to put a formula in column C that will recommend the suggested buy quantity. The formula would need to compare the pcs needed to the buy pack qty, and put the suggested buy qty in column C. It should also consider multiples of the buy pack qty, such as if the buy pack is 5, and the pcs needed is 12, the formula would suggest 10 pcs. If the buy pack is 5, and pcs needed is 13, the formula would suggest 15 pieces, etc. I have manually entered the sugg buy qty for the first 22 rows, to give examples of what value the formula should return.
I have a Purchase Order template that I created in Excel and an Excel Customer spreadsheet. I am trying to get the Customer Name, Address, City/State/Zip (all found in different columns on the customer spreadsheet) to autopopulate on the Purchase Order when the matching phone number is entered. New to advanced formulas but looking for something like: if the phone number on the purchase order equals the phone number on the customer database, bring over the Customer info above to the appropriate cells on the purchase order.
