Translate Data Of Dialed Numbers Into A Country Or Destination Name
Dec 21, 2008
I have some data for international dialed numbers, I need to translate this into a country or destination name.
for example if the dialled number begins with 001, the is the united states etc..
I have all of the required codes, but they all differ in length.
ie 0033 is spain but 003356 is a spain mobile.
I was thinking that i could use VLOOKUP to find the relevant text to display, but this does not work with the varying lengths of the codes.

I am trying to find a way to make a certain number equal a certain name. For example 1111 will equal Name1 in another cell and 1112 will equal Name2....

I've got a worksheet with five columns of data. One of the columns contains country codes. I have a list of countries that the codes relate to. I would like a new column in the worksheet that contains the country name. I'm not sure if this is possible, but it seem that most things are with VBA! The countries and their codes are on 'Sheet2' I relalise I might have to do some boring re-ordering of the data on 'Sheet2'

I have a list of mobile phone numbers from various countries. However, I do not know which country each entry is from. Ideally I would like to have a macro that looks at each number, compares to a global list of PSTN structure to determine which part of the phone number is the country code (generally the first 1-3 digits), and then put the country in a separate column.
I am certain all numbers are formatted correctly, so it is only a matter of finding out which part is the country code and putting a value for the country.

I want to fill all a column bottom-up but without specify cells in format "A1500:A2" like
VB:
Range("H1578").Select
Selection.AutoFill Destination:=Range("H2:H1578")
{H1578 have a formula so...}
I have data in the first 7 columns, with a variable(Range) for the first 5 columns
VB:
Dim oRange As Range
Set oRange = ActiveSheet.Range(ActiveCell.Offset(0, 0), ActiveCell.Offset(89, 4))
{The first cell in it is A1}
My question is : How to fill Range("H2:H1578") using my ''oRange'' variable?
I try with OffSet but my code didn't work. I need to do the same with the 6 columns to the right and then plot in a chart.

Data validation using named ranges as countries are listed multiple times and to relate country with cities.
How can i relate country with city in two different columns(named ranges) not in order.
Formula to be used for Data Validation would be useful.
Sample data file is attached.
Its just a sample.data can be for 250 rows.

I have a master data sheet with raw data in 19 columns and a variable amount of rows per week, but usually 50k+
The data contains entries from different Countries, and this I need to split up per country into different sheets.
Naming the different sheets with Country code like US, DK, UK, PL, etc...
Below code does that almost perfectly.
Only thing is that when there is no more data to split up, it creates the last sheet called "SheetXX" and since it can't name the sheet "nothing", I just get an error - Run-time error 1004 Method 'Name' of object'_worksheet' failed with the possibility to END or DEBUG. When going into DEBUG this line is highlighted. (wsNew.Name = c.Value)
I can just hit END and then proceed running my remaining macros, but I would prefer it not giving me an error in the first place. (My end goal is that all my macros (10ea) are run by the click of one button, and that is currently not possible, when this gives me an error).
I have tried the "Application.DisplayAlerts = False" without any luck, and also "On Error resume Next", maybe I have used it incorrectly. Do I have to search for a different way to split the data..??
VB:
Sub Split_data_pr_Country()
Dim ws1 As Worksheet
Dim wsNew As Worksheet
Dim rng As Range
Dim r As Integer
Dim c As Range
Set ws1 = sheets("Template")
[Code] .....

I'm having a problem with getting a result from another workbook. The purpose is to extract information from a closed workbook representing data from a country (ie US.xlsm, UK.xlsm) into the open one (summary). I want to count the number of results in a column which are above a certain amount (in this case 100).
So this is my coding for getting this result
=SUMPRODUCT(--(('C:address[US.xlsm]Worksheet name'!$E$2:$E$30000)>100))
Which works no problem for getting the number of results in the E column above 100. my issue is that I want to be able to change the name of the country in a cell, and then get the results automatically from the relevant workbook. I've been using CONCATENATE for these purposes and EVAL (from MOREFUNC)... and I get #REF!
So if I split up the above coding into two cells "=" and "SUMPRODUCT(--(('C:address[US.xlsm]Worksheet name'!$E$2:$E$30000)>100))" (just to keep it simple) and then use CONCATENATE to combine them in a cell. Using EVAL on that cell gives me #REF!
I've tested SUMPRODUCT with EVAL and CONCATENATE on formulae like the one above which do not link to other workbooks, and they seem fine. and SUMPRODUCT and linking to a workbook also works fine in the first example.
So the problem is somehow coming from the combination of SUMPRODUCT, EVAL and accessing an external sheet.

I've written a procedure that loads a list of country selections in a dropdown (see attached/vb editor/ThisWorkbook).
The problem is the valid values for this column need to be just the two digit country codes, not the country code +dash+country name. The reason the dropdown selections include both the two digit country code and the country name is because most users will not know the two digit codes. Presenting the selections in this fashion will make t much easier for the user to make the proper selection.
So here is what I need: When the user makes a selection from the dropdown list, the resulting value needs to be the two digit country code only. Is there a way to incorporate this formula .... =MID(B2|1|2) ... in the vba procedure which runs after the user makes a selection? Or, is there another way to accomplish this?

I want to prevent other users when pasting data, to overwrite the formatting of the destination cell.
Since, it is a shared file, i don't want to bother the people explaining use paste special.
I want this to happen automatically.
I don't know VB, and I tried copying what I found in the internet for similar codes, and none have worked. I only copied as they said either in Thisworkbook, and this is all I can do.
I need very easily explained if there is something more than just copying the code in VB view.

For a Datastream request table, I need to set up a Data Destination in a blank worksheet. Instead of rows, I need columns with headers. For the rows I can drag-down the cells, but Excel doesn't seem to get the row drag-down:
For rows:
Sheet1'!$A$1
Sheet1'!$A$2
"select & drag-down"
Sheet1'!$A$3
Sheet1'!$A$4
Sheet1'!$A$5
etc.
But if I want to use columns I get this:
Sheet1'!$A$1
Sheet1'!$B$1
"drag-down"
Sheet1'!$A$2
Sheet1'!$B$2
instead of
Sheet1'!$C$1
Sheet1'!$D$1
Sheet1'!$E$1
etc.
It doesn't get that I want to use columns, not rows again.

I have extracted data from multiple sheets and now want to mark this data as "Paid" and for the macro to go back and change the value in the original sheet on a row in column "AR" to "PAID.
All the columns have the same data type in.
The extracted data contains the original sheet name and each row has a unique ID No to it.
I know I probably need to use INDEX and MATCH and then Offset to post value.
Attached worksheet shows the data and columns.

I'm currently working on a problem that I'm having with Hyperlinks. Basically I want to copy the destination data that the hyperlink points to onto another sheet.
The main problem I'm having here is that I cant seem to find a suitable method to do this....I had the idea of using the hyperlink.follow function and then copying the data once I'm there and then moving back to the source hyperlink. My only problem with that is that I dont know how to find the cell address that the hyperlink is in, once I have found that hyperlink.
Therefore my question is two-fold:
- Is there a way to copy the destination data using some sort of hyperlink function?
- If not, is there a way to find the cell address within a worksheet, once a hyperlink is found on that worksheet?
I've attached the spreadsheet below to give a better idea of what Im doing, along with the "findHyperlinks" macro,within that workbook, that I am currently working on.

My first shot at a function! hows it look?
Code:
Function wbIsopen(wbname As String) As Boolean
On Error Resume Next
WbIsOpen - (workbooks(wbname).Name = wbname)
End Function
[Code]...
This is also my first shot at using a DIM and Set. I am attempting to move the data from 1 workbook sheet to another after it has been sorted. But if i only have the source open i want it to open the destination workbook and sheet then paste and close the source sheet. If the source is open I want it to go to the next command.

I have two workbooks. I am copying cells data from one workbook A to workbook B with macro - pretty easy. Now, after selecting and copying cell data in workbook A and switching to workbook B I want to be able to pause the macro and wait for the user to chose a correct cell where he/she wants to paste the data. After the selection the macro would automatically paste the data in selected cell. Since I am completely newbie any help would be appreciated. Here is the macro I have so far :
Sub CopyVIN()
'
' CopyVIN Macro
' Macro recorded 5/26/2009 by Pacific Coachworks
'
Sheets("Sheet1").Select
Range("G9:R9").Select
Selection.Copy
Sheets("For copying VIN").Select
Range("A1").Select
Selection.PasteSpecial Paste:=xlPasteValues, Operation:=xlNone, SkipBlanks _
:=False, Transpose:=False
Range("A1").Select
Application.CutCopyMode = False
Selection.Copy
Windows("Cami's Production Schedule.xls").Activate
' Here I'd like to have a code for waiting for a user selection and pasting the data automaticlly.
End Sub

Workbook has following sheets:
"equipment List" and "vlookup data"
"equipment list" has following fields where cost is the field that needs the vlookup data value.
model, building, cost
"vlookup data" has following fields in 2 different ranges.
range1
manfacturer, model, cost-usa, cost-canada,cost-england
range2
building, country
requirement is that "cost" field in "equipment list should have the value based on the model and cost with respect to the building value.
i can do simple vlookup to get "a cost-country" value but fail to understand how to ensure the value comes from the correct cost-country column based on the building info.

Index of the VBProj.VBComponents("ThisWorkbook") component?
I need to refer to that component but not by its name because the file I use, goes to some users that have MS Excel installed with another language and their Excel translate the component's name in that language so
VBProj.VBComponents("ThisWorkbook") should be VBProj.VBComponents("[that-language-translation]")

I have been sent a spreadsheet containing the following Macro, which is fair enough, only thing is, I don't understand the Macro, its too high for my extremely basic knowledge of VBA.
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click()
Dim rng As Range
Dim i As Integer
Dim sht1 As New Worksheet
Dim sht2 As New Worksheet
Set sht1 = Sheets(ActiveSheet.Range("D2").Value)
Set sht2 = Sheets(ActiveSheet.Range("D3").Value)
Set rng = sht1.Range("First_Line")
i = 0
Do Until sht1.Cells(rng.Row + i, 1) = ""
sht2.Range("Managers_Name") = sht1.Cells(rng.Row + i, 1)
sht2.PrintOut
i = i + 1
Loop
End Sub
translate this for me, step by step, as to what this Code is doing?

I have excel workwook with Month sheet Jan,Feb,Mar....Dec and YTD
In each monthly sheet i will have either "yes"or "No" in cell B66:K75.
Below is what i need to do in YTD sheet cell B66:K75. Each cell in TYD B66:K75 will have 12 digit number
Need to go thru each monthly sheet for each of the above cell and find if Yes or No and translate that into number (yes = 1, no = 0)
Example:
If B66 in Jan, Feb and Mar is Yes and B66 in Apr thru Dec is No then the number in YTD in cell B66=111000000000

I have 3 columns of data, column C has a number representing a length of time in months. I need to add a number to the end of each row (Column D), depending on the number in column C. Example:
If column C has a number between 0 and 3, the number to go in D would be 1. If column C has a number between 4 and 6, the number to go in D would be 2. Here are the list of possiblities (only 5):
0-3 = 1
4-6 = 2
7-9 = 3
10-12 = 4
12+ = 5
This will form part of a macro, so a VBA solution would be ideal. I thought of having a named range and looking up each row with a list of all possiblities. But i see that as rather crude. I'm hoping someone has a more logical solution they could share.

I have several hundred points in cartesian x,y,z coordinates. I used an Excel add-in program to calculate the equation of best fit to the points. The equation is:
z=A*x+B*y+C
where (for this case):
A= 2.29091
B= -1.77338
C= -192.494
My objective is to define the several hundred x,y,z points in cartesian coordinates about a new cartesian coordinate system whose origin is the centroid of the data points and whose z plane (ie z=0) is equal to the best fit plane defined above (when referenced from the original coordinate system).
Using Pro/e (a cad program), I was able to create the new coordinate system using the x, y, and z intercepts from the best fit plane, and then was able to redefine the points about the new coordinate system. After the points were redefined in Pro/e, I was able to export the points back to Excel; however, I would prefer to only use Excel / VBA because I prefer the calculations be transparent for optimal accuracy and validation.

I've developed a spreadsheet in Excel 2000 where one of the cells contains the number of months a quantity will last, calculated by taking the total amount and dividing it by the amount used each month (a constant).
I would like to have another cell where that number is translated into the future date that number of months represents, so that in addition to seeing how many months the total amount will last, one can see when the amount will be depleted.
For example, suppose it is December 9, 2009 (as it is now) and the number in the number-of-months cell is 6. Then, is there a way that when 6 is calculated, in another cell appears something like June 9 2010 or 6/9/2010 or 6/9/10 (assuming the computer's clock is correct)?
It would be nice if the formula would handle decimals too, such as the date for 6.4 months, but that's not essential.

Lets suppose that in a drop down box I have the words : "I" "want" "to" "create" "a" " sentence".
Well what I would like to do is have each word as selected in the drop down box, placed in another cell creating a sentence.
If you picked the words in order the cell should read: I want to create a sentence or it could read any combination of these words depending in the order they were picked. So it could read: I sentence want to create a sentence if the words were selected in this order.
