Data validation using named ranges as countries are listed multiple times and to relate country with cities.

How can i relate country with city in two different columns(named ranges) not in order.

Formula to be used for Data Validation would be useful.

Sample data file is attached.

Its just a sample.data can be for 250 rows.

Data Validation List - Country Names Are Selections But 2 Digit Codes Need To Be Result

I've written a procedure that loads a list of country selections in a dropdown (see attached/vb editor/ThisWorkbook).

The problem is the valid values for this column need to be just the two digit country codes, not the country code +dash+country name. The reason the dropdown selections include both the two digit country code and the country name is because most users will not know the two digit codes. Presenting the selections in this fashion will make t much easier for the user to make the proper selection.

So here is what I need: When the user makes a selection from the dropdown list, the resulting value needs to be the two digit country code only. Is there a way to incorporate this formula .... =MID(B2|1|2) ... in the vba procedure which runs after the user makes a selection? Or, is there another way to accomplish this?

Calculating Shipment Rates Base On Origin City And Destination City?

how to match a series of rates for a destination city depending upon the origin city. I have figured out how to match rates from origin city to multiple destination cities but have not figured out how to change the series of rates when the origin city changes. These rates will be calculated on the "calculator" in the excel document depending on the cities chosen.

I have attached a document that shows a simplified version of what I am trying to do.

How To Convert The Numerical Value For City To A Text String With Actual City Name

I have a large database from a central appraisal district. In the database the city is stored as a numerical value. The problem is I need to convert the numerical value for the city to a text string with the actual city name. For example the values to the attached example database are as follow:

024 = Hurst
026 = Fort Worth
025 = Euless
017 = Mansfield
013 = Keller

The issue is, I need to convert this column of numbers into the string of the actual city name. Is there some type of command, or macro that I could use to automate this process? Attached is a small example copy of the database.

I've got a worksheet with five columns of data. One of the columns contains country codes. I have a list of countries that the codes relate to. I would like a new column in the worksheet that contains the country name. I'm not sure if this is possible, but it seem that most things are with VBA! The countries and their codes are on 'Sheet2' I relalise I might have to do some boring re-ordering of the data on 'Sheet2'

I have list of various city names in column B. From that i need unique city names in validation cell.

The reason is,

we have emp id, name, designation, area, marital status for our employees. From that if i select emp id from validation cell1 i have to get all employee id's available in the sheet1 is need to come under the validation2 cell automatically. and if i select "area" from validation cell1, all unique areas need to be list out in the validation cell2. Its look likes a filter. but without filter i need this for creating application.

Splitting Master Data Per Country Fails

I have a master data sheet with raw data in 19 columns and a variable amount of rows per week, but usually 50k+

The data contains entries from different Countries, and this I need to split up per country into different sheets.

Naming the different sheets with Country code like US, DK, UK, PL, etc...

Below code does that almost perfectly.

Only thing is that when there is no more data to split up, it creates the last sheet called "SheetXX" and since it can't name the sheet "nothing", I just get an error - Run-time error 1004 Method 'Name' of object'_worksheet' failed with the possibility to END or DEBUG. When going into DEBUG this line is highlighted. (wsNew.Name = c.Value)

I can just hit END and then proceed running my remaining macros, but I would prefer it not giving me an error in the first place. (My end goal is that all my macros (10ea) are run by the click of one button, and that is currently not possible, when this gives me an error).

I have tried the "Application.DisplayAlerts = False" without any luck, and also "On Error resume Next", maybe I have used it incorrectly. Do I have to search for a different way to split the data..??

Translate Data Of Dialed Numbers Into A Country Or Destination Name

I have some data for international dialed numbers, I need to translate this into a country or destination name.

for example if the dialled number begins with 001, the is the united states etc..
I have all of the required codes, but they all differ in length.
ie 0033 is spain but 003356 is a spain mobile.

I was thinking that i could use VLOOKUP to find the relevant text to display, but this does not work with the varying lengths of the codes.

Extract Information From Closed Workbook Representing Data From A Country

I'm having a problem with getting a result from another workbook. The purpose is to extract information from a closed workbook representing data from a country (ie US.xlsm, UK.xlsm) into the open one (summary). I want to count the number of results in a column which are above a certain amount (in this case 100).

So this is my coding for getting this result

Which works no problem for getting the number of results in the E column above 100. my issue is that I want to be able to change the name of the country in a cell, and then get the results automatically from the relevant workbook. I've been using CONCATENATE for these purposes and EVAL (from MOREFUNC)... and I get #REF!

So if I split up the above coding into two cells "=" and "SUMPRODUCT(--(('C:address[US.xlsm]Worksheet name'!\$E\$2:\$E\$30000)>100))" (just to keep it simple) and then use CONCATENATE to combine them in a cell. Using EVAL on that cell gives me #REF!

I've tested SUMPRODUCT with EVAL and CONCATENATE on formulae like the one above which do not link to other workbooks, and they seem fine. and SUMPRODUCT and linking to a workbook also works fine in the first example.

So the problem is somehow coming from the combination of SUMPRODUCT, EVAL and accessing an external sheet.

Nested Data Validation: Figure A To Enforce Dual Data Validation On A Single Cell?

I'm trying to figure a to enforce dual data validation on a single cell. That is, I need to restrict the user to entering only a decimal value, only if a particular other cell (say A2) is blank. To put it another way, if A2 is blank, the user can enter a decimal value, but if A2 is not blank, the user cannot enter anything. I can use Data Validation to enforce either the decimal restriction or the ISBLANK, but I'm not sure how to make them work together.

Vlookup Formula Get "a Cost-country" Value And Data

Workbook has following sheets:
"equipment List" and "vlookup data"

"equipment list" has following fields where cost is the field that needs the vlookup data value.

model, building, cost

"vlookup data" has following fields in 2 different ranges.

range2
building, country

requirement is that "cost" field in "equipment list should have the value based on the model and cost with respect to the building value.

i can do simple vlookup to get "a cost-country" value but fail to understand how to ensure the value comes from the correct cost-country column based on the building info.

I would like to know if it's possible to populate a data validation list based on what is selected from 4 validation lists?

for example:
On sheet1:
If 'Group1' is selected from data validation list1 then data validation list5 will show a list of all items from Group1. If 'Group2' is selected from data validation list2, then data validation list5 will display all the items in 'Group2'...

(I do not want to use a combo box for this)

I have an excel of around 20.000 entries and I need it completed tomorrow for work There is the address in one column, and I need to copy and paste only the city to the next column. Any formulas I tried return an error. The city can have one or more words and it is usually after the zip code. For Example:

Parsing A City Name When It's Concatenated To A Street Name?

I have an address field that is concatenated as such that the city name is attached to the end of the street name as follows:

4 Example WayOakland, CA 94601

I have over 200 of these with different addresses and cities in my workbook so it's not always the same length. How can I grab the city out of this string? Is there a way to key on the capital letter of the city? Or is there another way?

I have a column that has data like this in it:

cityname, stateAbbreviation, XXXXX
or
sacramento, CA 95814

The tricky part is that sometimes there's a comma delimiting these fields and sometimes there is just a space between these fields.

So, I suppose the script would have to assume a length of 2 chars for the state and when it finds that it knows that what was before that string of 2 chars was the city.

Also, sometimes there is a longer zip with 10 digits code like this:
cityname stateAbbreviation XXXXX-XXXXX
sacramento CA 95814-82202

How might I write some VB code to loop through this column and break up this cell into 3 other cells?

I have a spreadsheet of over 8000 addresses. I have the street, state and zip but not the cities.

Is there a way I can do a search and mass import of cities from a website, like USPS? I'd like to know if there is something I can do quickly rather than manually look each zip code up and enter it in one by one.

Custom Sorting With Commas For City And States

I want to sort all of the "column2" by alphabetical order. The order will be first by state and then by city. For example the first box the column2 order should be (Fountain Hills, AZ) properties first followed by (Mesa, AZ) properties second followed by (Peoria, AZ) etc.... ending with (Flower Mound, TX) last.

The issue that I'm having is that when I create a custom sort the comma after the city indicates a new value being AZ. For example my custom sorting looks like this: Fountain Hills, AZ, Mesa, AZ, Peoria, AZ. This is limiting my ability to sort the files as is with city, state. I solved this issue by removing the commas after all the cities. This worked but was time consuming. Is there a faster way? The workbook is below.

My last hurdle is this:

I have a list of Tax Exempt Customers that when thier name is entered into the form, I would like it to not add tax.

I have tried a forumula like this:

The above formula does not work, but I dont know why. I want it to lookup the city tax and add it in if the customer is not on the tax exempt list.

i am trying to figure out, how to automatically update time, based on specific city's time zone? Lets say, if the city is dallas, time zone is Central GMT-6. In the next cell, the time shows up as Dallas's local time, instead of local computer time. And this time updates itself after every 2 min.

2ndly, if that city's time is later than 8:59 PM local time, that specific city's cell grays out.

How To Count Country For Each Product

I have a very big Excel table with many products. A product like a "pen" can have different attributes, then each of it gets an own row. Each row has one entry in the column "country". It indicates in which country the product gets shipped.

I want to count the country, in which the products get shipped.

But I don't want to count two times if a product "pen - blue" and "pen - yellow" both get shipped to the US.

I tried it to achieve this with a pivot table but it counts every row and I haven't found a way that it only counts each country per product once.

I have an simpliefied example attached. The columns "product" and "country" exist already, the column "country count" I hope to get automatically.!

We get a very detailed Call Data Records(CDR) for all telephone calls made by our employees. CDR typically contains the called number, duration in seconds and cost. What is missing it the city name and country name for the called number.

For e.g. a typical CDR log would be
Called # duration(secs) Cost
442075000000 40 0.02

From looking at this number, the country code is UK - 44 and the city code is 20 which is London.

I have a spreadsheet that contains Country code and city code for all major cities in the world.

Is it possible to create a lookup function, that would take the 'Called #' from the CDR and lookup the data in the CountryCity code spreadsheet and give me the called City and Contry name.
