I can choose some cells in a sheet to protect them and prevent any one to change.
it's supposed to change and edit in the other cells.
the problem which I face when I try to use " merge and center" or to insert picture or autoshapes ..etc. in unprotected cells!

It works perfectly to display daily dates in the mm/dd format. Now I want to have an overarching month/year displayed over the entire range for any particular month by merging and centering the cells above the month's dates the above code populates, and pull in the month/year formatted as mmm-yyyy. I've attached a mock up I did manually to convey the desired result.

When I use "Merge & Center cells with Labels" of a pivot table, It is merging Column labels as well as row labels. Is there a workaround to apply this feature only for column labels and not for row labels.

I am wondering if there is a way to write a macro that will change data from individual strings within a cell row to merged and centre data for that set of data. The issue is the data in the row will be varied i.e. sometimes there will be 20 x 2013 other times there may be 22 X 2013 etc. however, the data will always be fixed in the same row on the worksheet.
At the moment the best I have is a recorded macro, which really doesn't work too great and I end up fixing it constantly.
Just recently My Excel 2010 has decided to not let me right click to format cells, delete or insert rows. I can do these functions from the ribbon, but not via right click. this happens in both existing spreadsheets where I am the author, or even a brand new spreadsheet like in the image below. we have restarted the computer, Uninstall and reinstalled Office and still get same symptoms. I got here thru google but cannot find an answer anywhere.
I am very computer literate and even our IT personnel have looked at this with no answer. as you can see in the image, these options are greyed out.

I have a worksheet (Covers) that is going to be the front and back covers for a binder.
The title/text portion is automatically filled from cells elsewhere in the workbook.
I have a button to bring up a userform that allows one to select the images (3 .jpg images) you wish to use on the cover pages.
I have code that successfully brings up the userform, and allows image selection and preview within the userform.
Now I want to insert these selected images into the worksheet, centered on specified cells and sized (zoom) to a maximum width/height (whichever is reached first).
Can a blank Picture be inserted with its size specified/fixed, then use code (Image1 = LoadPicture?) to change what is displayed?
Or do I have to calculate the size, center it on the page, and insert the image each time?

I was given 6 spreadsheets combined into one (the reason is immaterial-but valid) it is what it is... unfortunately! (42 columns, 14,000 rows of which 450 names are duplicated as illustrated below)
I want to merge duplicate data.. but not the way I see it shown in all the 'merge' and the 'delete duplicate' threads I have seen so far.
I manage a homeless shelter and someone duplicated the spreadsheets and started using the duplicates to enter fresh data.... several times!
As a result I now have somewhere around 8 instances, (or 7,5,3 etc) of every homeless guest, but it has duplicate data in some columns, and new data in others, for instance:

I tried de-duping based on duplicate rows and that worked with the pure duplicates get out of the mix, but if I try to to de-dup on only the first two columns of data it may remove date I want to keep.So I need to de-dupe and merge at the same time.

I have a button, and I need a Macro that will cause it to clear all unprotected cells. I think I can figure out how to get it to clear an individual cell, and I suppose I could enter every cell I want cleared individually...but that might take awhile.
Is there a way to set up a Macro that will delete the contents of every unprotected cell? I guess I haven't tried it yet - if I protect the cells, will it not delete those? Also, there is a small image - I don't want that deleted either.

I have created an Excel template for others to use. They can enter data in certain unprotected cells and the data is linked to other places in the workbook. If they Cut and Paste something in the unprotected cells, the formulas get a REF#. There is no problem if they Copy and Paste. How can I prevent the REF# error without resorting to VBA?

the protection setting allows you to leave individual cells unprotected however you still cannot change the border for example.

I am trying to use Range.Find in a named range that has some areas where two cells are merged using the format "Center Across Selection"

I get a run time error 438 "Object doesn't support this property or method"
Is it not possible to use this method to find the cell in this range? I tried iterating through the range but that errors also.
Here's a weird one: I can't get some of my cells to align to center/left/right. Both the buttons on the toolbar and Format->Cells->Alignment won't work. The kicker is that other cells on the same sheet will center/left/right just fine. Is there some kind of formatting protection I inadvertently set?

I have a spreadsheet that I need to insert a blank row every other row and then merge that blank row. I can do this with the macro below. My question is that I only want the merge on each blank row to merge A:H. Example would be insert row 9 and merge A9:H9. Insert row 11 and merge A11:H11. and so on till the end.

I think I did something but I don't know What. I select a cell that has a 20 font Size I enter a number it show at the 20 Font. Now when I go some ware else in the work unselecting that cell the number went to font 10 and droped to the left bottom of the cell. When I select the cell again and select the the left middle and right to move the number it does not responed. It happens everyware in the worksheet.

What I would need is a macro or function that would do from such structure:

4. if any other color column in the same row is greater than null, then proceed to next color & repeat steps 2. & 3., else go to next row
5. until all 5000 rows are converted in about 12.000 rows.
I have a sheet that has a section in range (c18:k25) (it is merged and text is wrapped) If that amount of space is not adequate to fit all their information I would like to add a macro that when activated it asks how many rows would you like to add and then based on that number whether it be 1-10 it would insert a new row to that merged range so they can continue adding more information . I have the sheet locked down to prevent changes so it would have to be unlocked and then re-locked within the macro.
