This is an extract of a larger code, but this section is producing a Compile Error: Next without For but I cannot workout how to resolve it.
I am receiving the error "unable to get the find property of the range class" in my code. I have attached my code and highlighted red where my error is occuring.

Error in data validation: "A named range you specified cannot be found." However, the named ranges are in the Name Manager, and if I go to the sheet and select the range, I can see it is already named.
Full description:
I created a spreadsheet model (no VBA, just formulas, etc) in a workbook that another coworker took and added VBA to. However, he was not working with the most updated version. So last night I checked the sheets which had the same names, made sure there were no differences except the changes I had made since that version, and then moved the ones from my current workbook into his workbook.
On the sheet where the user was to input details of the report, there are 4 cells that each contain different lists (non-dependent). I want the user to only be able to choose one of the 4 drop down menus - that is, if any of the 4 cells are filled in, I would like the other 3 to default to N/A (or somehow not be allowed to be chosen). This was solved in a previous thread:
Using A1: =IF(COUNTA(A2:A4),NA(),G2:G6) from the other thread solution, I used a named range instead of G2:G6 and it worked well.
When I merged the files together, the 4 cells no longer worked at all. It was suggested that I look at the Name Manager, and some of te named ranges I had were in there multiple times. I cleaned them up.
I tried to enter the same formula again, and it gave me the specific error: "A named range you specified cannot be found." However, the named ranges are in the Name Manager, and if I go to the sheet and select the range, I can see it is already named.
I am unable to load the spreadsheet due to sensitive data, and removing the data would make the workbook make no sense.
I am executing code in a workbook that has been working successfully previously.
Suddenly I get a run time 1004 error in any macro in the workbook that tries to execute a activeworkbook.save command?
I am working on using an excel workbook as part of a roll playing game and I am trying to record a macro and then put that in a command button which uses the randbetween, multiple if statements and multiple vlookup functions. I have successfully done similar things by just recording a macro and then pasting that into the VB editor. However this time I get a unable to record macro after putting the formula in the selected cell. I have tried copy and paste and just typing the formula with the same results.
Upon executing the formula I then want it to copy and paste special- values the result.
I'm assuming I have to put the VB code in manually but when I tried to do the formula I got a syntax error.
The worksheet I am working on is named new and I've included the formula in the a text box. I would like the result to show in J12 and be triggered by pressing the cmnbutton in k12.
I have a sub that I have copied out of a previous workbook where it still works fine. In the previous workbook it was assigned to a button. Now I am trying just to do it as an automatic action when the workbook is closed
It will lock any cell within the specified range that is not blank then protect the worksheet, save the workbook then save a dated archive copy
When I pasted it in to a new workbook I changed the range to A1:AP49 and strFileName
Now when I run it now I get an Error 1004 - Unable to set the Locked property of the Range class.

I use Excel 2010 andexample.xlsx cannot make my code working because of the so famous errore above.
I have several pivot tables (pt) in different worksheets (ws), and a list of items stored in an array I created. I've written a macro for setting ON all items in pt except those ones in the array (listOffnet within the code). Everything works properly.
Now, I would like to do the complementary action: setting OFF all items that are not in the array. Unfortunately, I get the error at line:

I imported the data from someone. And the cell in the column comes with the single quote'infront of the cell value. For example, the value that you see in the cell is "920-F-Y", but if Click on that cell, it turns out to be '920-F-Y, there's a single quote infront of it. I can't do a replace all on that single quote to empty space for some reason. Might just be my excel, or there's just something wrong. The problem is, I have 2 sources of data. I imported the first one, it has the single quote infront of it, i imported the second one, it has no single quote infront of it. I want to do a comparison, but I can't because it's different by single quote.
You can open my attachment, and try to replace that ' (single quote) with a space, and excel will complaint that it can't find it. I could go through each one and delete it individually, but consider that there are 5000 cells, it's just a lot of work.
I am using this code (below) to hide certain rows or columns depending on what number is entered. Everything is working fine and I am at the point where I would like to share this excel sheet with others but I would like to lock certain cells so that others cannot alter the formulas. As soon as I lock the cells and then enter values into the unlocked cells, I get the "run-time error '1004': Unable to set the Hidden property of the Range class".
I am using excel 2010 x64.

I am using the "Find" in VBA and wanted to test if the value searched for could not be found.
So I get the
error = "Unable to get the find property of the worksheet function class"
When the text cannot be found.

But this produced the same error.
I have created quite a nice little macro that;
drills through a lot of key figures, updates a pivot chart and copies the chart to powerpoint.
However it crashes on one particular data set every time with this error:
Run-time error '1004':
Unable to set the _Default property of the pivot item class

I can manually change the pivot chart to the keyfigure it crashes on and thereby workaround the problem in the macro. Also it works for more than 50 other keyfigures without problems.
I have about 20 files that all have separate passwords. When I enter the password for six of the files, I receive the "Unable to Read File" error message.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have written a Excel (2003) that searches a worksheet for a string in any cell. If the string is not found, it uses the 'On Error GoTo' command to jump to a given label. It works fine on the first string not found. When it searches for the next non-existent string, it fails with:
'Run-time error '91':

The first line runs properly, but the second line bugs out with the error message "Unable to get the Average property of the WorksheetFunction class". I can simply do the math, but I thought that using the worksheet function would be easier than summing and dividing. I'm curious, though, as to why I can't seem to use the Average function.
I am receiving a run-time error with following code. The error message is "unable to get the VLookup property of the WorksheetFunction class". I only receive the message when the lookup value is not found in the table.
I thought adding the "False" command at the end would return an "N/A" but it didn't. Is there anything I can add to avoid this error?
This problem seemed to revolve around "digital signing" with further macro changes done from a different machine (without the proper certificate). Excel warns of the problem and then "unsigns" the project.
I've got a problem with spreadsheets that I've been working on. Now, when I tell it to record a macro, I get the macro name, shortcut assignment dialog box and then an error "Unable to record." After "Ok"ing that dialog box, the normal recording macro dialog comes up. Also, lo and behold, there will not be a macro recorded.
I've got no protected cells or sheets and it doesn't matter what security level is set. It is a "signed" macro but I can take off the signature and still have the problem. I checked for "Help - About" for deactivated modules and there was none.

I have a txt calendar control the askes the user for a date, then find that date in another sheet.
If the user enters a date out of my range the code bugs out. Is there an error handeler for this? Like can I set an error message?
My formula =IF(OR( FIND("Bugs",E2),FIND("Daffy",E2)),"/wkly",0). Always returns #VALUE! error. I can understand if neither value occurs in the string, what confounds me is if one of the two does occur in the string If I shorten to
=IF(FIND("Bugs",E2),"/wkly",0)
Then the expected output is returned
I am having trouble with the following code. When I put in a value in C8 that is on the list being searched (A2:A27), the Answer is still coming up as false (ie, the find function isn't finding the variable in the list, though it is there). I'm guessing I'm using incorrect syntax somewhere.

The On Error GoTo works if there is only one instance of the text not being found but crashes if there is a second.

I am writing some code where one column is selected and a value is searched for in that column. If found the code continues on its way manipulating the data. The issue is that the value being searched for will not always be there which results in an error. Is there a way that I can just tell the macro to continue running if the value is not found.

I'm trying to write some VBA which will allow me to find certain instances of data across a number of different sheets and copy this into another sheet.
However if the sheet doesn't contain the data I'm searching for an error pops up and the macro dies, is there a way to search where if the macro doesn't find anything it skips to the next line?
Is there a list of error numbers and their meaning?

The basic code works fine, but did not account for the user entering a Job# that was not in the system, so I added an If/Else to account for this...
The additional code took the If (Job# not found) route every time...
Following many hours of searching this site and variations of the error handling code, I still can not get it to work.
So I'm asking for your assistance to point out why the error handling (based on other successful code found here) is not working for me.

The 'Find' part of the code is working, as the correct cell is selected after running the code... but it gives the error message, instead of executing the rest of the code...
If I remove the 'On Error Resume Next', it stops on the find block, where on inspection FindR = Nothing.
So if FindR does = Nothing, how did it manage to select the cell?
