Userform Refresh Not Showing

My macro is called from a command button on a userform. The userform contains 3 command buttons, a label, and an image box with no attached image. When a command button is pressed, the code sets the background colour of the image box to red and changes the label caption to "Processing..". Then screenupdating is set to false, the code runs, screenupdating is set to true, the image turns green and the label says "Ready!".
The problem is that the userform does not refresh to show the changes until the code is finished running, as though the screen does not update the userform before the "screenupdating" is turned off. Can anyone tell me how to ensure that the forms are displayed correctly before the screenupdating is disabled?

I have a large spreadsheet with several links to external data via DDE. With help of kind Ozgrid volunteers, I've managed to update the data link each second. However, every time the data is updated, the linked data displays #N/A for a split second. This is enough to cause hundreds of cells and formulas to display #N/A for a split second. Since this occurs once every second, the screen has become almost unreadable.
I have tried
Application. ScreenUpdating = False
without any success. I also tried disabling Excel Error Checking via Tools > Options > Error Checking.

I have about 10 pivot tables that only have one Pivot Field Item Selected (i.e., Jane Smith) with dates as column fields and a sum for data items. Everytime I refresh the pivot tables and there is a new person in the data tab (which is the data the pivot table is referenced to), the new name populates in the pivot table. I am sure I could include all of the names in one pivot table, but there is a long explanation why I only keep one name per pivot table in this particular workbook.
Attached is an example. As you can see, when you refresh the pivot table, the new name (Jason Smith) which I added to the data tab, will be included in the pivot table.
I am trying to figure out if there is way either with VBA or without VBA to prevent all of the pivot tables in the workbook to not select any new Pivot Field Items when I refresh the pivot tables.

I have a userform that collects data from a worksheet, if I press back on the userform to take me back to the sheet and then change the data, when I fire up the userform it doesn't update with the new data?
I've put DoActions in UserForm_Initialize tried userform1.repaint and nothing works..
To get from sheet to userform there is a button that valdates the data before showing userform1 so it should always run the UserForm_Initialize at a guess?

I have put together a user form with two ComboBoxes, one dependent on the other. The first box has a drop down menu from which the user selects a name, and the second drop down populates a list from a named range according to the user's selection in the first box. The code I used is as follows:

This has worked so far, however, if one selects a name in ComboBox1 and then changes their selection (ex. Initially selects John Smith from the first menu, and then changes their selection to Mike Roberts) there is an error. I am not sure why - I think the issue stems from the 'Clear' function but I am not sure how to resolve it.

1. I'm looking for a better way to get a UserForm (frmParts) to show right from the start as soon as I open the workbook while hiding the application. I use the following when I initialize the application:

2. Later on, I add some parts to my inventory, but if I don't make the application visible, it doesn't save the data. So, I have to make it visible and then hide it again. Is there a right way to accomplish the save without having to unhide/hide the application? This is the applicable code I used (ComboBoxes & TextBoxes involved):

I have a workbook which when opened connects to an external datasource (excel file) and downloads a table of information. While this is happening I have a userform which shows which has a lable saying (connecting to datasource, please wait....). However, when I open the workbook, the userform shows but the labels do not show, the userform just appears white.

I have two workbooks (Book1 and Book2). When Book1 opens, its Workbook Open procedure displays a Userform1 that has two Command Buttons. The first Button closes Book1 (exit the program). The second Button opens Book2. Book2 has a Workbook Open procedure that should close Book1 and display a new Userform2. When the Workbook Open procedure of Book2 closes Book1, the procedure stops there and does not show the UserForm2. How can I get the Workbook Open procedure of Book2 to execute both steps of closing Book1 and showing Userform2? This must be done by clicking the second Button on Userform1.

On opening of my WorkBook I refresh my PivotTable and that takes a while so while its refreshing. So I want to launch a UserForm that basically have a loop showing progress bar similar than the Windows loading bar (i.e. a set of green vertical green bars moving in a black rectangle).

is it possible to enter data on a spredsheet while a form is opened or must the from be closed first. I thought I was smart to have a form remain open so users could change parameters but at the same time allow them to enter data in uprotected cells.

The attached spreadsheet is as simple as it gets - a single userform with a combo box that allows 1 of 4 choices. It gets loaded and displayed in the workbook_open() event - or at least it should - but 9/10 times i get the message "Path/File error" and debug crashes out on the userform.show line. The next time I try and open the file (despite not saving it) Excel crashes and closes! Even re-starting Excel does not allow the file to be opened!
If, however, I open the file with macros disabled, and go into the VBE and manually run the workbook_open() all works fine. I'm using Excel 2003 and I've tried it on other installations - sometimes it will work, other times not.
I've tried every combination of userform load, unload, hide & show with similar results.

I have a wordlist (65000 words in Column B*) in a worksheet “w1” and poems (about 21000 rows) in another worksheet “w2” where first verse is always in B and second one in C. The column D of w2 contains of information such poems name, author’s name, book’s name and so on.
I want to search for those verses through a macro which contain words from my wordlist B* w1 and add references to my words that way. It’s about making a dictionary in which each word has a reference to a poem and verses in which it is used.
Column A of w2 has number in it which shows how many times these rows have been already used as reference. Column A of w1 contains of a value “1” or “0” in which “1” means this entry has already been processed or already has a reference and “0” means it has yet to be done.
If my word B* from “w1” exists in verses B or C of “w2” the results should be shown in an userform containing 5 text boxes with 5 results. In each text box a result should be shown “(verse B; verse C); (value of Col.A)” and a checkbox (or a button). That would mean 5 result, 5 textboxes and 5 checkboxes (or 5 buttons). I would like then to choose one of the results by checking the checkbox (or pressing the button) in front of the text box. After I have chosen the result the whole row from w2 should be pasted in following columns of B*. That means the cells from w2 column B,C,D would be pasted to column C,D,E of w1.
The criteria for the search in B and C should be the lowest value in A of “w2”. I mean the w2 rows with lowest A value should be preferred if there are more results. The result showing user form with 5 text boxes and 5 checkboxes(or 5 buttons) which gives me the choice to choose one of the results should also contain a button “search for further results“. For the case none of the results is useful.
As far there are many poems (verses) I would like to prevent using the same verses many times. The more different verses I use as reference for the words in w1 the better it is. Therefore every time a result is picked by me “1” should be added to the value in Column A in w2. And every time search is started the lowest A values should be searched first.
As soon a word has successfully got it’s reference the value in A w1 should be changed from “0” to “1”. And by next search all words with A value “1” should be ignored and only “0” words should be searched for.
Each time a row from w2 is used as reference, the B* word w1 should be added to col. E of w2. If used for many ";" should be the seperator.

I have a spreadsheet set up to automate calculations and control data input for in process quality control checks. The spreadsheet is basically a series of input boxes requesting information from the user. To control the input of part numbers I have some code for a userform which populates listbox within the userform from another closed spreadsheet (opens & closes without updating screen) & enters the selected data from the listbox into a selected cell in the spreadsheet
all the input boxes and calculations are working well, the userform works well, BUT when I include the userform within the code I get the following problem, an error saying that I am trying to change data in a protected cell where data has been entered and then protected by the VB code, even though the code is not trying to change the cell.
I have tried just loading and unloading the userform and everything works well, it only fails when I actually use the userform, and then close it. from this I am fairly sure the problem lies within the form so I have been through the form code line by line and deleted anything that is not vital and the problem persists. Here is the form

I have a query with ODBC connection to a SQL database. This query's parameter is linked to a cell. The resultant data is the source for a pivot table. I want to refresh the pivot table, when the query is run. I've tried using the cell that triggers the query....but the problem is that the query takes about 10 seconds to run. By the time the query returns new data....the pivot has already refreshed. I need it to refresh AFTER the query is complete.
I tried adding a cell that sums up the data from the query...thinking when THAT changes (due to updated data), to trigger the pivot refresh. Problem is that I don't know the trigger for when the sum cell changes (ie....formula change, not typed in.)

i have an excel spreadsheet with 27 or so workeets. it contains sales figures in it.
I want to be able to link mutiple cells of this workbook to another workbook so that it retreives that data, So that when I hit the refresh (!) button it will automatically put the data in. I will recieve new sales figures (new files) on a monthly basis so i want it to be able to update the figures to the new figures.

I've got a spreadsheet with a few queries to extract data into my sheet. Whenever I open the spreadsheet, I get a "query refresh" dialog box, asking if I want to "Enable automatic refresh". I keep clicking on the "Enable" button but I have to keep answering the question for each open. Isn't there a way to set "yean - ok - refresh the data" so that I don't have to keep saying "yes"?

I can download my data from the web. I can set it to download every so many minutes. But, I have to select run on my vb program to complete calculations and put data in correct format/sheets. I am trying to put a delay/timer in the program so it will refresh on itself and I will not have to keep selecting program run. If I put this in program it appears to refresh in a timely manner however I do not get any data on the sheets ? I have tried the wait routine and the if now = time + routine

The below is my problem. I have a excel wokbook that contains 2 reports from an outside source and on top of the reports i have some excel calculations.One of report has drill down capability. Everytime i open my excel workbook and refresh it the excel forumals also get refreshed along with my 2 reports and i get my results. But when ever i drill down something on the report the excel formulas are not getting refreshed automatically.
I end up refreshing the whole workbook to get the correct results which is a very time consuming process considering the amount of data i am trying to pull. And drilldown is something the users do very often and they don't like refreshing the whole workbook.
Is there any way to update the excel functions automatically whenever i drilldown?

My macro appears to be refreshing the data from the queries on my supporting worksheets at the wrong time. It apparently doesn't go in the order it appears in my VBA code (and if anyone can explain that I'd love to know what's going on there).
Anyway, all I want to have happen is for all the queries to refresh, and THEN for the rest of my macro to run. So for example, if the user changes the job number in cell A1, or the Date in cell A2, I want the queries to refresh for this new information, and when that is done I want the rest of the macro to run.
I found the following code, but I don't understand enough about VBA to know where exactly it goes. Could someone please walk me through this? I tried putting in Sheet 1 under Microsoft Excel Objects, and I tried putting it in a Module, but neither worked. I'm sure it's some combo of both, but I can't figure it out.

I am trying to create a macro that will sum the total number of 1's 2's 3's 4's 5's '6s in a range of cells d17:100 and return the number of 1s to cell a3 and number of two's to cell a4 and number of 3s to cell a5 and so forth.
I also need this to run each time any changes to any cell on that particular worksheet is made - sort of like 'refresh all the sums' type of thing.
I have been working on this spreadsheet for weeks and can't get past this part!

I have four to five screens being displayed. After 10 hours the screens time out and go into password protection mode.
Is there a way to send a refresh to each of these IE windows to keep them from going into password mode.
They are being watch and security in not the problem. The hours spent logging back into four to five screens are getting really old and time consuming.
I also have MS vb express that I can use but would rather use excel.

I have a large workbook with about 20 worksheets that I have used for several years without problems. Recently, I have been getting strange behavior when the screen refreshes. The biggest problem is that I get images of other worksheets covering my current worksheet when I change a cell. I can make them go away by scrolling or flipping between another worksheet and back. I have tried using manual recalc and this has helped somewhat but I can still get the images sometimes. The workbook contains VBA that performs various tasks on every worksheet (unlock, update pivots...) but these have been in there forever. There is also one piece of code that performs advanced filtering. I can only think there was something changed with a security patch, but I wanted to know if anyone else has had this issue and might be able to provide some advice on how to prevent it.

i have a worksheet and it has 3 Columns ( Date, Amount, Reason), I am trying to create a list box that lists all of the value's under these columns, i have done that successfully by putting the value range in the Properties RowSource area. When i add information to the list, using a Userform i made before, the listbox does not refresh although the excel worksheet does, it only refreshes if i close and rerun the macro. Do i need to change property values, add VB Code to the script.

I am using a calendar form to change the date in this cell, but that change does not show in the textbox form (No1) unless I close the form (No 1) and reopen it. I am having problems refreshing my querytable.. I used the standard code that I found here in Ozgrid, it downloads the version, but when I changed it on the website, it still shows the old number. It does this until I refresh the website (via web browser). I thought the query table went to the site, and downloaded what was there, but I guess not? ...
