I have a numeric value in G2, (in this case 7).
I have a date value in H2 - in I2 I want the date which is the date in G2 plus the number of days in H2, (so 20/01/2014 + 7 would give 27/01/2014 for example).
BUT - I also want it to account for a scenario where the value in G2 is 'No Expiry', so in that case I want I2 to show 'No End Date'.
Currently I am using MS office 2000 premium. I would like to implement real-time stock prices (i.e. ticker MSFT) from the Nasdaq website (NASDAQ Stock Market - Stock Quotes - Stock Exchange News - NASDAQ.com) into a single cell, so that this cell shows the current stock price only.
By a click on the hyperlink symbol in the excel sheet I entered the following information... Microsoft Corporation (MSFT) Real-Time Stock Quote - NASDAQ.com and clicked the OK button.
Instead of receiving the real-time stock price information directly into the single cell, a new window opens with the Nasdaq website and all kinds of information that is not needed.
Is it possible to place a prompt message regarding the time limit or return time when entered time is place on the worksheet? Like "Please be back at 8:30 AM" when the user click the Start time button at 8:00 AM.

Works ok (2-3 seconds) if the file is on the other side of a vpn. Works sloe (5-15 seconds) if the file is there on a vpn network and I'm using a wireless computer (wireless adding extra lag). And finally; really slow because the wifi connection is slow or some what out of range ...... I want my code for checking the existence of this file to stop after a specified amount of time.

I have a function which will allow me to search for combination of numbers which will sum to zero. However, because the range could be as long as 300 rows or even the possibility of not finding the combination that will sum to zero, the macro will take ages to complete or even causes the whole excel to hang. So What i want is to instruct macro to stop doing the search if it cannot find the results after say 20 minutes of searching.
Is that possible?
A coworker of mine will keep a shared file open for hours at a time, not doing anything to it, just keeping open, meaning no one else can edit it as required. Is there a way to set a time limit for that file to remain open before it saves and closes the file? The file shouldn't need to be open more than 30 minutes at a time for any individual. If it's required to stay open longer for certain instances, is there a way to extend the time as well? I can't find anything even remotely relating to time limits on Excel files. Is there coding or an app I need to apply to accomplish this? Is there an option I haven't seen in the program already?

View 9 Replies View RelatedVBA 2003 does not support MOD (modulo arithmetic) as a WorksheetFunction, and there does not seem to be a direct MOD function in VBA. I've been dabbling with code that would do the same thing as MOD, so far with no success. Does anyone know how to do this in VBA? I assume it would be some combination of If...Then, Round (up or down), maybe a compare, and perhaps an iteration loop. I would think such a routine would be useful to many people.

I have a list of data for each year dating back 10 years and some of lists had entries that weren't available so the cell showed up #N/A. I searched and replaced them with 0 but when I graph the data it skews my graph. I was wondering if it was possible to take a logic (IF) statement that says if the cell = 0 then take the average of the next and previous data points so the graph looks smooth. i.e. =IF(G444=0,(G443+G445)/2,G444) This gives me the correct number i want, but i want to apply it to all my lists like a format if possible.

I have two columns... 1 with a list of dates (ex. 22-Apr-07) and the other which states either a pass or fail. Ignoring the day and year, I'm trying to get the total # of references for each month, and only count those with a 'pass'ing grade.
I want me to track our inbox. All jobs that go into the inbox get logged on a sheet and at the end of the day get transferred to an Excel spreadsheet. They now want to track how long s job sits in the inbox before it's logged out and worked on. Currrently we put a time and date for both logged in and logged out. I've attached below a sample spreadsheet and a brief description as to some restrictions.
Our hours of work is 7AM to 6PM. So we only want to add add up the time the job was in the inbox based on those hours.... ie if a job came in right at 6PM at night and was logged out at 7:05AM in the morning, the total time that job was in the inbox was 5 mins. Same thing applies for the weekends.
I'm suppose to be in charge of creating that part of the spreadsheet.

I am trying to create a timeline spreadsheet for a weekly radio show I produce. We have 3 segments and the total time of the 3 must add to 59 minutes. Within each segments there are numerous variables with a certain time value. I am trying to figure out how to have time reduced correctly. For Example
Segment 1
Story A 5:00 minutes
Story B 4:30 minutes
Story C 3:00 minutes
What I need is Segment Total (A+B+C) in one cell and Remaining time (from total 59 minutes) in another. I know this may seem silly for most of you, but I cannot get the cells to format properly at all.

I have just added two date and time picker controls to my spread sheet to allow the user to select the date range.
They are linked to cells C9 & C10.
The problem is that the formula I using to check whether the first selection pre-dates the second has stopped calculating correctly when using the date and time pricker controls.
The formula is:
=IF(C9>C10,"Error","OK")
I have checked it on the same sheet by just typing the dates in and it works fine...I have tried formatting cells C9 & C10 to short date, general, text, number but it still does not calculate correctly.
I am using a lot of linked reports that have to be rewritten each month. For example smaller formulas look like this:

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to automate creating certain keyword combinations I need, based off of the values I input into reference cells in columns A - E; the goal is to compile a list of keywords which I will then use to track my rankings in search engines.
I'm looking to only output 500 keywords, so some of the cells in columns A, B, C & E will not contain data (column D will always have a primary Geo-target listed). This results in some of the concatenate formulas I've created outputting partial data (i.e. if there is no data in cell A10, and cell D2 contains the word "Knoxville", then cell I10 will output the data, "Knoxville "). How can I setup conditioning formatting or a formula so that these auto-generated cells appear blank if one of the reference cells has no data within it?The reason why I need the above to work is because I want to setup a formula that automatically counts the # of keyword combinations created by the data entered into any of the reference cells. With the partial combinations being listed, it skews my data. Which leads me to my next question: what is the best formula for counting the # of cells containing a full keyword combination from any of the cells listed in columns G - O (minus the data in the header cells; i.e. G1, H1, etc...)?Lastly, is there a formula I could use that would then aggregate all of the full keyword combinations within the "Complete Keyword List" column (column P)?
I am running Excel 2007 on Windows Vista Business 32 bit. Recently I have noticed that if I enter a formula into an empty, unsused cell, it is recognized as a formula. If I modify that formula, it is then recognized as text and does not work as a formula. The only way I can get the cell to recognize a formula is to delete the cell and start over. This same scenario does not occur on previously stored workbooks. I have checked all of the flags that I know about, including the Options function.

User enters start time, followed by the number of time usage in minutes, how could i possibly display the end time automatically in this scenario? how do you add the entered time usage to the start time to display the end time? Say if I enter 1:00 AM at start time and 00:15 minutes on time usage, how can 1:15 AM be displayed on the end time automatically?

Cell E4 returns a >35 or <35 true or false value
Cell G4 is either blank or has "Yes" text type into it.
What I am trying to do is get cell F4 to return certain arguments.
E4 = >35 and G4 is blank I want it to state "Email Hiring Manager"
E4 = ,35 and G4 is blank I want it to state "Wait"
I have a basic IF formula that returns this
=IF(E4>35,"Email Hiring Manager","Wait")
Then if cell G4 is populated with a Yes the formula needs to overwirte the origonal if with the return arguments of
=IF(G4="Yes","Email Agency","Email Hiring Manager")
If yes then what would be Email Hiring Manager (yes will only be input if E4 is greater than 35) will be overwritten with "Email Agency"
Can this be done with two If formulas or does there need to be 3 or more to count if other IF formulas are actually returning a value?
If you have a cell with the value ="2*c2+3" NB: (Notice the ""), then to make excel convert the formula in another cell to =2*c2+3 (notice the removal of ""), so that it can calculate the value of the cell instead of showing a textstring?
I have formulas in a column and they are working unless I edit them to include another function, more cells, whatever, then they display as formulas instead of the result. I've gone to Tools --> Options --> View and the Formulas box is not checked. As well automatic calculation is on not manual.
