VB Function To Return CODE128b Barcode Font String ()
Feb 26, 2007
I found what looks to be a BASIC or perhaps early C form of code that will do exactly this, however I am finding it out of my grasp to 'convert' the below code over to VB for Excel, and I was hoping someone would be able to piece it together for me. Code128B is a barcode font that requires a 'computed' start and end bit, as well as a checksum character(s) in order for the barcode to be valid and readable by barcode scanners. This code (in whatever it is written, I don't really know), is said to do just that. Code:..................
The barcode lablels all have the following format: A318639....that is a letter followed by six numbers.
When I scan the barcodes into any cell, a dollar sign "$" appears in the front of the barcode string that is entered into the cell. The dollar sign is not a relevant part of the string of characters in the barcode label.
What I am looking for is a solution where upon scanning a barcode into any cell, the dollar sign is removed from the front of my string and I am left with just the seven character string which is shown above.
I have experimented with the Data Validation tool by trying to limit the number of characters that are allowed in a cell to seven characters, but that has not actually removed any characters from my data string.
I have a udf that returns a string to the cell. The string is made up of multiple string "objects". What I am wondering is if I can set the font color of certain objects so that when the final string is built and returned, the font of those portions is set.
Ex. of simple idea (this is not actually my code, just a way to illustrate. I realize there is no point to this UDF):
VB:
Function StringReturn (Str1 As String, Str2 As String, Str3 As String) As String StringReturn = Str1 & Str2 & Str3 End Function
Now what if I wanted Str1 and Str3 to be blue, and Str2 to be red for example. So that when the UDF calculates it would return: Str1Str2Str3
i did some VBA quite a while back, and picking it up again.
I'm trying to get a function to read in a string, and return a value based on the string value.
Public Function value(ItemType As String) As Integer If ItemType = " Upper" Then value = 40 ElseIf ItemType = "Middle" Then value = 50 ElseIf ItemType = "Lower" Then value = 25 End If End Function
When i tried using it at the Cell level, it keep giving error i.e. Invalid Name Error
I get a text file daily for routed deliveries containing a barcode, name, address and phone number that I convert into csv and then upload it into a route optimization software. after optimization is complete it has assigned packages to drivers and I export it to excel and print. My sorters are having a difficult time reading the addresses on the packages and assigning them to the proper driver, so I am trying to come up with a way.
My idea is that I can import the barcode as a custom field into the route optimizer and then when I export it, that barcode field will still be associated to that order. I want to scan the barcodes of the package into column C which will reference all of the barcodes in B and when it finds the match, it will return the value in A, the driver assigned to that particular package. This way my sorter will just have to scan the packages and throw it into the proper bag for the driver instead of having to visually scan the printed manifest to match.
i have a string in a cell, that would say "Your results are -10% for the week". is there any way to change the font to red, for the number, including the minus sign preceeding it, and the percent sign following it. all are in one column, about a thousand rows. the rest can stay black.
I'm taking some university classes and one of them is called Applications Programming and we have been using excel VBA. I have a project that I'm working on, and it's very basic. Basically we need to create a userform that has 3 option buttons, 4 check boxes, a couple labels and a couple text boxes. It's suppose to be a ice cream selection terminal. Option boxes for basic flavors of ice cream, check boxes for toppings, one text box for user input of number of scoops of ice cream and the last text box to output a reciept/overview of purchase.
So here's the question... I was wondering if there's a way to change the font of a single string variable, or change the font of a word within a string. My output to the saleBox(My receipt overview) is this:
saleBox.Text = ("Thanks you for your Purchase") & vbCrLf & vbCrLf & _ "You ordered " & numOfScoop & " scoops of " & flavorChoice & "ice cream" & vbCrLf & _ "Topped with: " & toppings & vbCrLf & vbCrLf & total
(not sure how the code is gonna look in the message but I'm sure you get the idea)
i want to be able to change the font for the flavorChoice or toppings variables. They are both strings.
Anyways, I know I can get away with basically what I have there and get full marks, but I like going above what the basics are. If it's kinda complicated.
I'm gonna attach a screenshot, more info is better than not enough right... nevermind its askin for a url!
*** I just now got the idea of putting another textbox over the area that would output the text I want to change and hide the border or something and then change the font of that text box through the properties ***
I have a button (shape) whose text value is linked to cell A1. (In other words, if text in cell A1 changes, the text on the button changes). A concatenation formula exists in cell A1 to "join" together a combination of text and cell values. The formula in A1 looks something like this:
="You have "&B10&" records that contain errors."
I'd like to set the font for the "&B10" portion to be a different color than the rest of the text string so that it stands out from the rest of the text. Obviously this can be done when the text is manually entered into a text box, but when using a formula to populate the text in the text box, it's all or nothing. I'm hoping to find a way to embed a separate font color within the formula string in A1 for just the portion I want to change? For example, all text would be regular/black, but the numeric value generated from cell B10 would be yellow.
I'm trying to use Excel to keep team standings for a baseball board game. I had no problem calculating wining percentage. Finally figured out how to calculate 'games behind.' Now I'm wondering if there is a way to change the font color of a team name based on their wining pct?
A typical row contains: A2(Team Name), B2 (Wins), C2 (Losses), D2 (Pct (B2/(B2+C2)), E2 (GB). Is there a way to use the IF function to return the 'Team Name' in green if D2>.500, 'Team Name' in red if D2<.500, and 'Team Name' in black if D2=.500 ??
I'm looking to set up a spreadsheet whereby individuals answer questions and have to format their answer using a particular font, colour, font size and so on. The idea is that I can then compare their answer sheet to a pre completed one using an =IF function and get a total score. The only problem is =if and =exact only lookup cell text/numbers and don't look at how the text is formatted within them.
On sheet 1 I have a list of 1000 firstnames On sheet 2 I have a list of 1000 emails,
I need a function that states If a cell in the email column contains a string or value from the names column, it will result in a true statement so that I can separate out the emails that have these peoples first names.
I'm trying to copy about 10,000 barcode over to a new spreadsheet, the prob is that when I copy them over they appear as XXXX+12 and then when I try and use them it doesn't like it. I can solve it if I format the column to text - and then double click it. This is ok for a hundred or so but fingers start to hurt after that!
I need to take out the number in the middle, from the period to the space. The number varies in length so just using the mid function doesn't work. Does anyone know how to modify the mid function to return all chars between the period and the space or is there some other function that may work?
I often have to enter large number of water bills into an excel sheet manually, which takes lot of time and it can be inaccurate, all the bills have barcodes and I am wondering if I could use a USB barcode scanner to capture and input the value of each water bill into an excel cell?
We have to process these vouchers with the following data items:
Log ID Vendor Name Invoice Number Invoice Date Cost Code or GL Acct Amount Description Payment Approver Date
We get the vouchers from another department and then we're required to key them into the billing system. I'm looking for a way to automate some of this task because it's getting tedious to key in all the information into the billing system when it's already on the voucher form.
We have a barcode scanner and am wondering if we could use that to scan the voucher and automatically populate the fields into Excel.
Im tryinig to set up a time sheet and need to have a barcode number that is scanned replaced with a name. Is there a way to look up the barcode scanned into a field (such as C3) and have that barcode number be replaced by a name?
