Excel 2010 :: Barcode Inventory Searching

Jul 18, 2013

I'm trying to use a barcode scanner to enter in information in a given Excel spreadsheet and then search for that exact same information in a column in the same Excel spreadsheet.

The barcode will enter in the numeric information in A1.

I am searching for the exact information in column F.

If found, I would like for the cell the information is in to turn a color such as green.

Is that doable with a formula in Excel 2010?

Macro To Delete A Line In Inventory If Item Is 0

I manage an monthly inventory spreadsheet with over 100 various items in the master list. However in any single month there may be only 5 or 10 active items that need to be reported on. How do I develop a macro that will check the "items on hand" column and delete the entire row if the quantity is "0". My report is limited to showing only items on hand and not the entire list of items.

FIFO Inventory- COGS & Inventory Valuation

Aug 18, 2009

I had been trying really hard to get some solution on COGS valuation & inventory valuation on FIFO basis. my daily transactions are typical sales & purchases.

Attached is the inventory in/out movement from Quick Books. in the column "Num" type bill is the entry from purchase bill whihc always has a reference as P/O####. This is how i will capture the landed cost against a PO., another type "Inv Adj" is inter warehouse transfer. Name is cusotmer, Inventory is my item number. in some cases it is like "2000", in some cases it is 10000:10121, and in some cases it is 10000:10200:10201 that is why they fall in different columns when i export them.

What I would lilke to do: 1) Run a report by month, by customer showing cost of goods sold on FIFO basis, I can capture sales amount by running another report.

Eliminating Sold Inventory From The Inventory List

Aug 8, 2006

I am not an excel whiz, so I will need layman's terms if possible. I may have found a solution to my problem under another thread, but I couldn't understand it. I have only briefly worked with macros, a very long time ago. Here goes...

I have an inventory list that has not been updated for sales of the inventory, only for purchases. I have sales lists, generally by month, in separate spreadsheets. I am looking for a simple, efficient way of either eliminating or at least matching up the data in the sales list to the inventory list in order to remove sold items from inventory (on paper). I am hoping the result will be a fairly accurate inventory list, and related value, so that a physical inventory count won't be necessary at this time. Obviously I could copy all of the sales info into one spreadsheet, sort by inventory number, then manually delete all sold items from the inventory listing. I am REALLY hoping there is a better option.

As I use inventory I scan the barcode and it inputs the serial number into my used inventory tab. What I need to do it when I scan the serial number for used inventory into the used inventory sheet to have it go to the inventory sheet and delete the line for that serial number.

Deleting Starting And Trailing Characters Scanned Into Cell?

Jun 11, 2012

I'm scanning data into a spreadsheet using a barcode scanner, but I want the starting character and trailing characters to be removed after I hit enter.

For example...let's say I'm scanning the following text in cell A1:

=W05281212345600

When I hit enter (or the barcode scanner does auto-enter), I want cell A1 to read:

W052812123456

I will always want the "=" and the last two zeros removed from the 16 character number, leaving the 13-character number in its place.

I tried using Excel's various truncate functions (LEFT,RIGHT,MID, etc.), but that only places the corrected text in another cell. That would be fine if I could copy that truncated text back over the original text...but that created a loop problem.

Click Item In ListBox1 And ListBox2 Item Is Also Selected Simultaneously?

Feb 16, 2013

Excel Userform

VB:
'enables user to click highlight and select an item in ListBox1 and ListBox2 item (same row in index) is also highlighted (highlighted only not selected)
Private Sub ListBox1_Click()
ListBox2.ListIndex = ListBox1.ListIndex
End Sub

Question: Is it also possible to enable a user to click to select an item in ListBox1 and ListBox2 item is also selected simultaneously (same row in index). Is there excel vb code to do this?

I think the code may be along the lines of the ListBox SelectedIndex property. What would be the Excel VB code equivilant for the ListBox SelectedIndex property, if so?

Plus Sign Barcode Conversion

Why when I convert the following data, why the plus sign "+" converts to a /K?

But when the font is changed to a 3 of 9 barcode and then I test the barcode in Notepad I notice that the plus sign is replaced with a /K.

Using Barcode Scanner To Populate Fields

Jun 14, 2013

We have to process these vouchers with the following data items:

Log ID
Vendor Name
Invoice Number
Invoice Date
Cost Code or GL Acct
Amount
Description
Payment Approver
Date

We get the vouchers from another department and then we're required to key them into the billing system. I'm looking for a way to automate some of this task because it's getting tedious to key in all the information into the billing system when it's already on the voucher form.

We have a barcode scanner and am wondering if we could use that to scan the voucher and automatically populate the fields into Excel.

Removing A Character From A Barcode String

Sep 23, 2009

The barcode lablels all have the following format: A318639....that is a letter followed by six numbers.

When I scan the barcodes into any cell, a dollar sign "$" appears in the front of the barcode string that is entered into the cell. The dollar sign is not a relevant part of the string of characters in the barcode label.

What I am looking for is a solution where upon scanning a barcode into any cell, the dollar sign is removed from the front of my string and I am left with just the seven character string which is shown above.

I have experimented with the Data Validation tool by trying to limit the number of characters that are allowed in a cell to seven characters, but that has not actually removed any characters from my data string.

Flag Item When Doesn't Match Item Above

May 20, 2014

numberdesc
1_______yellow
1_______yellow
1_______blue
2_______purple
2_______purple
3_______green
3_______orange
4_______black

I need some way that can identify when the item in the description column doesnt match the first item of the same number- for example, here the 1-blue and 3-orange would be flagged because they should match the 1-yellow and 3-green.

I need to do this on a much larger scale (approximately 20,000 data points), so I wanted to create a formula or macro that could do this for me.. I thought making a reference page with would work but I keep getting an error.. I haven't done VBA in a while, so I may have syntax errors.

If Range("A2:A9").Sheets("Sheet1") = Range("A2:A6").Sheets("Ref") And Range("B2:B9").Sheets("Sheet1") = Range("B2:B6").Sheets("Ref") Then
Range("C2:C9").Sheets("Sheet1") = "x"
End If

VBA To Lookup Part Number When Scanning A Barcode

Feb 14, 2014

I have a USB scanner connected to a PC. Data is entered into Excel when the part number barcode on a box is scanned. I have two worksheets that I will be scanning part numbers into, one is Group A and the other is Group B. On Group A's sheet there is a list of Group B part numbers that will be used for the lookup procedure when the barcode is scanned. The same is true for Group B's sheet. The groups should never be mixed, so if part number "B005" is scanned into Group A's sheet it should cause an error message to pop up. I've attached a workbook as an example. Is it possible to do this with VBA?

VB Function To Return CODE128b Barcode Font String ()

I found what looks to be a BASIC or perhaps early C form of code that will do exactly this, however I am finding it out of my grasp to 'convert' the below code over to VB for Excel, and I was hoping someone would be able to piece it together for me. Code128B is a barcode font that requires a 'computed' start and end bit, as well as a checksum character(s) in order for the barcode to be valid and readable by barcode scanners. This code (in whatever it is written, I don't really know), is said to do just that. Code:..................

Excel 2013 :: Using Barcode Scanner To Input Data Into Spreadsheet

I am using Excel 2013 and would like to input data into my spreadsheet using a barcode scanner. I've created some barcodes using an online barcode generator (Code 128-B). My barcodes are text as opposed to numeric. I initially tested it out using Access and it scanned the information just fine. However, when I try to scan in a code into Excel nothing happens, no error, no data, no nothing. Is there something I need to set in the options of Excel to recognize the barcode scanner as the input device? Or is there some other reason why the scanner might not be pulling in the data?

Assigning A Category To An Item Number Based On The First Two Characters Of The Item Number

Jun 18, 2008

I am using a vlookup and have a problem. I am assigning a category to an item number based on the first two characters of the item number. For example item number 60123 would equal scrap because of the first two characters of 60. But the item number can begin with either a number or letter. Here is the formula I am using that works for item numbers that begin with numbers:

=VLOOKUP(VALUE(LEFT(E2,2)),Sheet3!A:B,2,FALSE)

It works fine until I reach a item number that begins with a letter, then I get the dreaded #Value error. If I take the value out of the formula then it works for the letter based number items but not for the number based item numbers.
