View 14 Repliesautomatically hiding empty rows on my table... though the table has been referenced via string of formulas which I added up on my worksheet.. Some of the rows on my table are empty and I tried a VBA code on automatically deleting the rows but then I realized that if that certain 'referenced' string of that cell is not empty anymore, that would cause me much trouble.. so basically I need a code that would automatically hide the rows that displays a result of "" and unhides when it is not empty.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have some code which looks for the word "Out" in column "L" and hides the row if it finds it. This is running from row 24 to 160 and takes about a minute to run. I've tried two different solutions, neither really quicker than the other.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI found this code for hiding an autofilter arrow for column 2. I would also like to hide the arrows for columns 35 through 50. Does anybody know how to do that? Thanks.
Private Sub Workbook_Open()
'hides all arrows except column 2
Dim c As Range
Dim i As Integer
i = Cells(1, 1).End(xlToRight).Column
Application.ScreenUpdating = False
For Each c In Range(Cells(1, 1), Cells(1, i))
If c.Column 25 Then
c.AutoFilter Field:=c.Column, _
Visibledropdown:=False
End If
Next
Application.ScreenUpdating = True
End Sub
I am trying to hide four columns on my worksheet, but for some strange reason I am getting the following message:
"Run Time Error 1004
Unable to Set The Hidden Property of the Range Class"
I have no merged cells or objects in those columns. Has anyone else suffered this problem?
I'm trying to hide all columns which have the word "hide" in row 6. I have done a similar thing whereby I hide all rows which have the word "hide" in column 3 using the following
Sub HURows()
BeginRow = 9
EndRow = 40
ChkCol = 3
For RowCnt = BeginRow To EndRow
If Cells(RowCnt, ChkCol).Value = "hide" Then
Cells(RowCnt, ChkCol).EntireRow.Hidden = True
Else
Cells(RowCnt, ChkCol).EntireRow.Hidden = False
End If
Next RowCnt
End Sub
Alas changing the number and every Col for Row and vice versa doesn't work!! Really I only need to search colums G to U inclusive. The code must also unhide colums if the values in the cells of row 6 change to anything other than "hide".
I'm trying to create a code that when run hides a selection of columns and defines the minimum and interval value for a chart on the active worksheet. My attempt is assigned to the 'update skills' button at the top of the "GRAPH" worksheet of the attached workbook.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create a macro based on a User Selection in a Combo Box. All I want this Macro to do is based on one of the 5 selections the user makes in the Combo Box, it updates two pivot tables Column Labels. I want it to first clear out what is currently in the Column Lables for the Pivot Table and then set it as follows below.
So my problem is that the ResetPivotTable calls (call function shown at bottom) clears all just about all of the fields. I am also getting errors sometimes. The first time I run it, it clears out the Column Labels and works fine. The second time I run it, it clears out everything...
So here is what I have for the first part of the Macro. This part seems to be working fine; however it is the ResetPivotTable functions that are causing the problems. These seem to clear out all the labels, but also seems to be throwing errors.
HTML Code:
Private Sub ComboBox1_Change()
Application.ScreenUpdating = False
'Refreshes the Pivot Table in case it is stale
Sheet12.PivotTables("PivotTable1").RefreshTable
Sheet12.PivotTables("PivotTable2").RefreshTable
[Code]...
'Calls function to hide all the empty colums in the report after updates have been made Call HideEmptyColumns2
End Sub
And the PivotFields function is as follows:
HTML Code:
Sub ResetPivotTable1()
Dim pvt As PivotTable
Dim pvf As PivotField
Set pvt = Sheets("Cost Summary").PivotTables("PivotTable1")

When I hide a column in this spreadsheet, text appears in some of the cells that shouldn't be there. When I highlight and try to delete, it won't delete and it doesn't even show up in the function bar. I was able to get it to delete when I do clear, all from the edit menu but as soon as I try formating the cell, it puts it right back. Same text, same formatting. I can't get rid of it.

View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there a macro that I can use, that if N is entered in to column A then the whole row will be hidden and if Y is entered in, it will reappear.
Can this be done automatically without having to click a button.....
I have a worksheet called "Calendar" with values D4:X4
if the value "Name" appears in any of these cells then the corresponding column where the entry appears will be hidden. otherwise the column will be visible.
I am totally new to Macros. I need a Macro which should format a column based on the value of another column.
Consider I have 10 rows. I have to format column D, based on the value of Column E. If the value of Column E is > 1000, then the background color of Column D should be changed as green. The most important requirement is Column E should be invisible, Changing the font color of Column E as White does not seem ok cuz when we select the sheet entirely using Ctrl+A, the white values are very much visible. Can this be achieved using a macro?
I'm trying to hide columns based on information in another column. If that column contains "A" or "B", hide columns "U" through "W". If it contains "A", "B", "C", or "D", hide columns "V" through "W". Etc, etc., so on and so forth...
I've snipped the code I found earlier and modified it to (what I thought) was correct for my application, but it doesn't seem to do anything. (btw, should I get an error if it doesn't run correctly?)
Here is the code as modified:
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
If Target.Address = "P:P" Then
If LCase(Target.Value) = "A" Or LCase(Target.Value) = "B" Then
Columns("U:W").EntireColumn.Hidden = True
ElseIf LCase(Target.Value) = "A" Or LCase(Target.Value) = "B" Or LCase(Target.Value) = "C" Or LCase(Target.Value) = "D" Then
I would like to have a VBA macro that would look over my entire spreadsheet and hide the individual row if any cell in Column A contains the text "xyzzy". The "xyzzy" can be anywhere in the cell....beginning, middle or end.

a. actual data in columns is approx 150 items (that is why i need to hide/unhide columns)
b. there are about 120 persons whom above items are issued depending on expiry of life of item i.e. issue date plus number of months mentioned in row 3. for example if coat was issued to John on 5th Jan then it's life expires on 5th May and so on.
Now what i want
1. by clicking hide checkbox only that specific column should hide or if i click Hide All check box all column in range should hide.
2. as i enter issue date expiry of that item should automatically update on corresponding month sheet i.e for above example 5th May should automatically get entered in sheet May.
I have entered sample data manually in months sheet.

I'm trying to write macro for hiding columns based on a drop down answer. The drop down would be in cell B7 on Sheet 1. The colums affected would be in each worksheet in the workbook. The data validation would have a drop down selection choice of 1 through 16. The columns affected range would be H through W. For example, in the drop down if 1 was selected, only column H would show. If two, H and I would show...etc. This macro should affect all worksheets in the workbook EXCEPT sheet 1.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe first code hides everything just fine based on the date in A1. When I change it to the second code to delete instead of hide it is leaving a bunch of rows that the 1st code hides. Both codes have the same search criteria.
Code:
For Each cell In Range("B8:B5000") If cell.Value Range("A1").Value Then cell.EntireRow.Hidden = True
Next cell
Code:
For Each cell In Range("B8:B5000") If cell.Value Range("A1").Value Then cell.EntireRow.Delete
Next cell
I'm trying to write a VBA script which will delete all rows in my Excel spreadsheet where Column I (which contains a status code) does not contain the word "Completed".
At the moment, I'm doing this the other way round: my script is able to search for entries in Column I which contain the status codes "Pending", "Awaiting Authorisation", "In Progress" etc and delete them. The idea is that when all those rows are deleted, I'll only be left with rows which have a status of "Completed". This works fine at the moment. However, the concern is that if a brand new status code is added to the data file, my script would be unable to pick it up and delete it. This is a small sample of the code I'm currently using (which deletes all the rows with statuses other than Completed):
I'm trying to write a simple VBA code to loop through values in the range A14:A138 and based on the value (of a possible four values) in any row of that range, populate the adjacent column in the same row with a conditional result. For example if A14 = "Cat", then B14 = "I"; if instead A14 = "Dog", B14 = "II", etc. If there is no value in column A, the result should be blank (i.e. "").
I believe are in coding the destination range since I can get it to work for just one cell in B! Below is my code that is not working...

my existing macro, as the run takes to much time to complete. (at least 20min) I've already tried several loops, but no one worked for me. Following situation: There are two excel files, entries in column 73 - 85 will be copied from WorkbookRust to the other workbook if the numer in column 5 is the same. Not every cell within this columns contains data, so the macro should automatically jump to the last entry in each of the above mentioned columns, instead of predefine the range as you see in the code below. After the data is copied to the other workbook, it will be filtered acc. to Sub FilterMain and then copied back to WorkbookRust. As already said, the whole thing works, just to lame.
Sub Allmacros()
Dim WorkbookRust As String
WorkbookRust = ActiveWorkbook.Name
ChDir "C:Documents and Settings vogtMy DocumentsRüstplausch"
Workbooks.Open Filename:= _
"C:Documents and Settings vogtMy DocumentsRüstplauschCH_Revenue_2008.xls"
Sheets("Main_Overview").Select
Windows(WorkbookRust).Activate
Application.run ActiveWorkbook.Name & "!UpdateEntries"
Application.run ActiveWorkbook.Name & "!FilterMain"
'not ask to overwrite existing file
Application.DisplayAlerts = False
Workbooks("CH_Revenue_2008.xls").Save
Workbooks("CH_Revenue_2008.xls").Close
End Sub

I have this macro below and would like the code changed to find the "Customer Number" column by name rather than by column B. Note that the "Customer Number" column will always be somewhere in row 1.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI need to write a VBA code to remove the value of the cells in column B if the value in column A is empty. In my excel sheet, the user will paste hyperlinks in column B. If any link does not meet certain conditions, the cell in the same row in column A will be empty.
I want to have a change event so that after pasting links, it automatically deletes the links from the cells in column B if the cell in column A is empty
I have this code below that deletes any single occurrence of a customer number but the "Customer Numbers" must be in column A.
I would like to change the code below to instead look for the "Customer Number" column by name, rather than by column A. My "Customer Number" column will always be in row 1, but yet, it will be in a different column letter every time I run the report.
The data exists in a spreadsheet that has Data from Column B2:CQ18, but it needs to be dynamic and update anytime someone clicks the button (the button is fine and works with all the other Macros)
Here is the code I have so far.
Code:
Dim LastCol As Range
Dim NextColPaste As Range
With Worksheets("Run Hours")
Set LastCol = Range("M3:M18").End(xlToRight)
Set NextColPaste = LastCol.Offset(, 1)
LastCol.Select
End With
That Code will Select the data in row 3 only and not the whole range of 3:18
I have tried Range (LastColData & "3:18").Select and that selects everything on the whole page from row 18 down.
I have done a lot of searching and for some reason this dynamic selection and pasting of data is escaping me this morning
The following code is actually copied and modified from somewhere.
I don’t understand that it never record the user name in the last row on column E.
I am using the following code to filter one in one column.
