VBA To Select Next Item In Data Validation List

I wrote a macro that creates a data validation list from a set of cells on Sheet 1.

On Sheet two I would like a have Macro select each item in order on the validation list and paste into every fourth cell.

For example, if my Data Validation list on Sheet 1 contains three items: Comp. A, COmp. B, Comp. C

On Sheet 2, I would like to see Comp. A in cell K1, Comp. B in cell O1, Comp. C in cell S1.

I have seen a few codes but nothing that works effectively.

Select Nth Item From Validation List Macro

I have a normal data validation box on excel, but I want to be able to navigate my way through it using a macro. I can select & opent the drop down list with the following
SendKeys "%{DOWN}"

but then an action like

SendKeys "{UP}"

Does not navigate itself up the menu as a normal keystoke would. Any ideas on how to solve this? Basically, I want to select a cell, open the drop down menu, select the first choice in it (so thinking SendKeys "{HOME}{ENTER}" ) all using a macro.

Is there a limit to the number of entries in a validation list? I have a list that contains about 300 entries, but the drop-down list only shows 246 entries. I am sure that the references are correct.

Code That Automatically Run After Selecting Item In Data Validation Dropdown List In Column C

I have a dropdown list in C24:C50 (=CategoryList) with data validation and a sub list in D24:D50 (=ItemList) with data validation. I am looking for a way to have code automatically run after selecting an item in the data validation dropdown list in column C.

Example; I click on C24 and make a selection. I what it to trigger code that would move me to D24 and open up the data validation list in D24. After the selection in D24 I would like it to move me back and down 1 row to C25. I have not found anything directly related to this but I have found that code can be run after a selection in a valadition list.

I have created a DAta Validation List and it only select one item. I want it to select as many items that is on the list but i can't get it to work for my main worksheet I am working on. I can't figure out why I can't get it to work for the work sheet "This Don't" but it works for the worksheet "This Works" why and how I can change it so both Reason (Column F and H can) select mutliple items on there. I have a Data Validation list in cell A1 of a worksheet called LIST. I would like to modify the macro that I have recorded, the macro uses data from various worksheets. I would like to sort out some code so that at certain points in the macro it will select the worksheet that is shown in cell A1 of the LIST sheet and then carry out the code already recorded. THis will allow me to quickly change a sheet name that is refererred to in the macro numerous times without actually manually editing the sheet name in the macro code.

I watched a video on youtbe. And the women had three or four items in drop down box. She was using vba. When i emailed her to ask her how she did this, she kept telling me to go to her website and i was supose to figure it out on my own. Validation List: Wide As Widest List Item

I am trying to make some of my data validation dropdown list boxes narrower. I was told one way to do that is to use combo boxes. (If there are any other ways, please let me know!)

I don't think my combo boxes are working. I had tried to make a combo box appear in each data validation pulldown cell by using this tutorial:

I followed this tutorial word for word, but when I try to test the code at the end by double-clicking on a data validation pulldown cell, no combo box appears.

I am a softball coach and I want to create a fielding roster for my team. I have all the players names in column A (A4:A14). I have positions listed in column L (L4:L15) as follows: P, C, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, LF, LC, CF, RC, RF, X. Cell range B4:H14 (7 innings) is where I need to have drop downs, but once I select a certain positions for one player in inning 1, for ex., I want it to not be available for the next player in the same inning.

Automatically Select Item From Dropdown List

I have two cells and both have a drop down list. I would like Excel to automatically select an item from the second drop-down list based on the manual selection of the first drop-down list. The second cell needs the have the dependent item appear in the second cell not just be available in the drop-down list.

For example, Cell A1 has a drop-down lsit of the names of fruits, vegetables and flowers (apples, bananas, carrots, carnations, corn, daisys, tomatoes, zuchinni). Cell B1 has another drop down with three items (fruits, vegetables & flowers) which needs to be dependent on the first list. Further, I would like cell B1 to automatically select the appropriate item.

For example, if "carrots" is selected in cell A1 then I would like "vegetables" to be selected and automatically appear in cell B1. If "carnations" is selected in cell A1 then I would like "flowers" to appear (not just be available in the drop down).

Automatically Select Item From Dropdown List Based On Cell Text

I have a spreadsheet where user can search for information inside a search box and the appropriate rows are returned using formulas.

I have a drop down list (Category: Model) in the search box as well as a search field (Category: Program, cell D2). Underneath the search box, search rows are returned with column categories: Program, Model, etc.

What I require is that if a user enters the specific program into the search field D2, then the dropdown list would automatically choose which model that program belongs to based on the returned row.

For example, if I typed "engine" into D2 and pressed enter,

Under the records section (Row 14 and beyond), the following record will pop up:

Program
Model
Indicators

Engine
F-16
3a

Based on the record, F-16 would be chosen from the dropdown list. Is there any way this can be done?

I am kind of new to Excel programming and would like to know if there is a solution to my problem. What I need is to have a dropdown list (I know how to make this) then select an item from the drop down, then based on the name i select, Excel automatically fill up the rest of the cells.

For example, from the drop down list I select the company name then Excel automatically type the address, phone number, Fax number and the contact name of the company for me in corresponding cells. Is there a way to do this?

Is there any way when using dependent validation lists, that once a selection is made in one list, the next list will automatically default to it's first item?

So in the attached example, if Activity2 is selected in cell B7, then TaskC would automatically appear in cell C7 but the user can still choose a different value if necessary?

I have a big spreadsheet that has 30 columns. The data is downloaded from an SQL database from time to time. The row identifying data ( the record number/key ) is in the left most cell. I often have to move over 10 to 20 columns to view some other data in the same row. I can do this by selecting the preset Excel row number which higlights the whole row and then use the lower slider bar to go to the correct column to view the data.

However if I wish to select an item of data ( or update a particular cell ) then I loose the highlighting for that row and I can "loose" which row I am on. ( maybe I'm stupid but it does happen ) Can I use Conditional formatting to highlight a row whenever I alight on any data in that row and it sttays highlighted until I select another value on another row?

I'm trying to use data validation to restrict the user to only selecting values in a list which I create. Right now, the list is a named range. I'd like to get rid of the range and just use a named list. I create a name using the following as my list.

Insert > Name > Create
Name: Fruit

Refers to:
banana,apple,orange

When I try to use the name Fruit in my data validation, I get the message "The List Source must be a delimited list, or a reference to single row or column." I thought my name "fruit" was a delimited list.

Excel 2007 :: Data Validation List Depend On Another DV List

I have a List of Different Fruits in Cells A1 to A5

Apple
Banana
Orange
Strawberry
Cherry

And I use data validation list in 5 different cells from Cells C1 to C5 then in every cell the list will show all the fruits,

But I want that if I select Any Fruit in cell C1 that should not be included in the remaining 4 cells, and the fruits selected in Cells C1 and Cell C2 should not be included in the remaining 3 cells and so on....

I Used the formula

=IF(C1=A1,OFFSET(A2,,,COUNTA($A$2:$A$5),1),0)

But this works fine if I select Apple in the Cell C1, then the List of C2 Shows all Fruits other than Apple, But if in Cell C1 I select any fruit other than Apple it does not work... (Using Excel2007 & Win XP)

The idea is to create a liquor order sheet which takes items and prices from a liquor inventory workbook, which is part of the same file. i'm sure that you can do it all fancy with a macro, but unfortunately i'm not super experienced with excel. so i helped myself with what i know a bit -> drop down lists. I created an extra sheet which has 4 ranges on there... the liquor type (liquor, beer, wine), and the 3 sub classes for each type (red/white/blush/sparkling for wine, draft/import for beer and so on and so forth). On the inventory i named the range of all white wines "white", of all red wines "red" ..

On my order sheet i created a drop down list for type and created 2 more via "indirect" .. so when you select "wine" in the first one, the 2nd one will ask you for white/red/blush/sparkling and the last drop down then for the exact item according to the range on the inventory.

Hope what i did so far is understandable ^.^

Now my problem is that i want the unit cost to be copied when an item is selected. So you select "beer" in A1, "import" in A2, "corona" in A3... and the price for corona (which is written in a cell on the inventory sheet) should show up in A4.

I attached a screen of the inventory sheet so that you can see how it is structured.

Data Validation - List Box

Hello, could some one please help me with the following:

I have created a drop-down list for the range : C3:C65000 using Excel 2003 and Windows XP Pro. I did this using Excel's Data Validation Tool. The settings I used are as follows:

Allow: List
Source: =GROUPS
Check Box Ignore Blank is Ticked
Check Box In-cell dropdown is Ticked

GROUPS = GROUPS!$A$2:$A$29

Now all this works well, such that when I click in the cell range : C3:C65000, then a dropdown list appears - showing a list of all my groups.

However, when I click on any of the dropdown lists in this range, the width of the dropdown list is only as wide as the column. Column C has a width of 20.

What I need please is for the dropdown list to be as wide as the list of information showing in the dropdown list. If some one could please explain on how I can achieve this - that would be great.
