I have a normal data validation box on excel, but I want to be able to navigate my way through it using a macro. I can select & opent the drop down list with the following
SendKeys "%{DOWN}"
but then an action like
SendKeys "{UP}"
Does not navigate itself up the menu as a normal keystoke would. Any ideas on how to solve this? Basically, I want to select a cell, open the drop down menu, select the first choice in it (so thinking SendKeys "{HOME}{ENTER}" ) all using a macro.
I have a Data Validation list in cell A1 of a worksheet called LIST. I would like to modify the macro that I have recorded, the macro uses data from various worksheets. I would like to sort out some code so that at certain points in the macro it will select the worksheet that is shown in cell A1 of the LIST sheet and then carry out the code already recorded. THis will allow me to quickly change a sheet name that is refererred to in the macro numerous times without actually manually editing the sheet name in the macro code.
I am trying to make some of my data validation dropdown list boxes narrower. I was told one way to do that is to use combo boxes. (If there are any other ways, please let me know!)
I don't think my combo boxes are working. I had tried to make a combo box appear in each data validation pulldown cell by using this tutorial:
http://www.contextures.com/xlDataVal10.html
I followed this tutorial word for word, but when I try to test the code at the end by double-clicking on a data validation pulldown cell, no combo box appears.
I am a softball coach and I want to create a fielding roster for my team. I have all the players names in column A (A4:A14). I have positions listed in column L (L4:L15) as follows: P, C, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, LF, LC, CF, RC, RF, X. Cell range B4:H14 (7 innings) is where I need to have drop downs, but once I select a certain positions for one player in inning 1, for ex., I want it to not be available for the next player in the same inning.
Is there a limit to the number of entries in a validation list? I have a list that contains about 300 entries, but the drop-down list only shows 246 entries. I am sure that the references are correct.
I have two cells and both have a drop down list. I would like Excel to automatically select an item from the second drop-down list based on the manual selection of the first drop-down list. The second cell needs the have the dependent item appear in the second cell not just be available in the drop-down list.
For example, Cell A1 has a drop-down lsit of the names of fruits, vegetables and flowers (apples, bananas, carrots, carnations, corn, daisys, tomatoes, zuchinni). Cell B1 has another drop down with three items (fruits, vegetables & flowers) which needs to be dependent on the first list. Further, I would like cell B1 to automatically select the appropriate item.
For example, if "carrots" is selected in cell A1 then I would like "vegetables" to be selected and automatically appear in cell B1. If "carnations" is selected in cell A1 then I would like "flowers" to appear (not just be available in the drop down).
I have a dropdown list in C24:C50 (=CategoryList) with data validation and a sub list in D24:D50 (=ItemList) with data validation. I am looking for a way to have code automatically run after selecting an item in the data validation dropdown list in column C.
Example; I click on C24 and make a selection. I what it to trigger code that would move me to D24 and open up the data validation list in D24. After the selection in D24 I would like it to move me back and down 1 row to C25. I have not found anything directly related to this but I have found that code can be run after a selection in a valadition list.
I have a spreadsheet where user can search for information inside a search box and the appropriate rows are returned using formulas.
I have a drop down list (Category: Model) in the search box as well as a search field (Category: Program, cell D2). Underneath the search box, search rows are returned with column categories: Program, Model, etc.
What I require is that if a user enters the specific program into the search field D2, then the dropdown list would automatically choose which model that program belongs to based on the returned row.
For example, if I typed "engine" into D2 and pressed enter,
Under the records section (Row 14 and beyond), the following record will pop up:
Program Model Indicators
Engine F-16 3a
Based on the record, F-16 would be chosen from the dropdown list. Is there any way this can be done?
I am kind of new to Excel programming and would like to know if there is a solution to my problem. What I need is to have a dropdown list (I know how to make this) then select an item from the drop down, then based on the name i select, Excel automatically fill up the rest of the cells.
For example, from the drop down list I select the company name then Excel automatically type the address, phone number, Fax number and the contact name of the company for me in corresponding cells. Is there a way to do this?
How do I select the first item in a listbox via code (userform).
Scenerio: A user starts with listbox3 and makes a selection for a font type. If the font selected doesnt exist on there system (code already taken care of, true or false) I want to automatically set the font to the first item in listbox3 as a default value transparently so the user can continue.
I am wondering if there is any code to SELECT (DESELECT) A MENU ITEM using VBA? I have an Excel Add-in program installed, which adds a Menu "Easycal" to my Excel menu bar. Under "Easycal" (drop down list), I have the following items:
I am using "Easycal"'s functions in various cells of my sheet "Final". When I select "Refresh worksheet" from "Final", "Easycal" fetches (or calculates) me the data from the "Easycal" database. I have a macro (on "Final") that pulls together data from other sheets of the same workbook. I there anyway to include a code in my existing macro, so that when I run the macro, the following are completed in sequence:
1. Select "Turnoff Easycal" menu item 2. Run my existing macro (to pull the data from other sheets to "Final") 3. DeSelect "Turnoff Easycal" menu item 4. Select "Refresh worksheet" menu item
I have data validation in a cell that says only options from a list are allowed. i.e. =indirect(A1)
If this refers to a list where there is only 1 option available is there a way to display that value automatically without the user having to click the dropdown to select it?
I have data validation in cells A1:A50 which allows to select values from a list. There are about 50 items in the list that can be selected. Is it possible to have the user select an item only once i.e., if an attempt is made to select an item thats already selected it show an error message.
I have created a DAta Validation List and it only select one item. I want it to select as many items that is on the list but i can't get it to work for my main worksheet I am working on. I can't figure out why I can't get it to work for the work sheet "This Don't" but it works for the worksheet "This Works" why and how I can change it so both Reason (Column F and H can) select mutliple items on there. I watched a video on youtbe. And the women had three or four items in drop down box. She was using vba. When i emailed her to ask her how she did this, she kept telling me to go to her website and i was supose to figure it out on my own. I am trying to do a start up construction company. the link to her site is as follows Select Multiple Items from Excel Data Validation List - YouTube the idea of what i want to do, is how she clicks on a word and it follows in the coloumn to the right going down. This is what i need to know how to do. It is probably pretty elementary to many of you. But i build, i know how to read prints, to cut footprints for new homes etc. But when it comes to excel i am so green.
I have a validation list drop down box set up to reference data in a defined name list. I would like to be able to select multiple values from this list to appear in one cell (preferably separated by a comma). For example, the defined name list contains the following data:
Choice 1 Choice 2 Choice 3 Choice 4
I would like to be able to populate one cell with the following via the drop down list: Choice2, Choice 4
I created a drop down list (of various Input Groups) and I need to show the selected group's responsibilities on a separate sheet; is there an easy way to do this?
You can find attached the workbook I am working on.
In my workbook I have four sheets. Only two sheets are relevant in this case: "Sheet1" and "List". On "Sheet1" there in column A there is big range of codenumbers (highlighted with red). On the "List" worksheet I have a smaller list (highlighted with green).
I have a code also in module1 but the code is not working.
I would like my macro to do the following. Check the code number from the "List" worksheet (green) and search for it in "Sheet1" column A (red). If this codnumber can be found in column A then leave the number on the green list. If it cannot be found in column A then, delete it from the green list. If you open the file, you can see on the "List" worksheet that there are three code numbers in the green range. The upper and the bottom code number can be found on the "Sheet1" column A (red) range, but the middle number cannot be found. So if the macro would work correctly then it would delete the middle number, and leave the other two untouched!
I have an excel form with a command (submit) button that opens up Outlook when clicked. I am looking for a way to have this submit button disappear when the user selects a specific item in a drop down list to make sure they do not email the form when it is used for a promotion (Promotion would be selected in the drop down).
I have a workbook that contains a worksheet with commission data with a validation list of about 50 items. Each of these items represents a sales peron within my organization. Every month I select each of these items or sales people from the validation list (using the drop down box), which changes the commission data for each rep on the tab, then convert this to pdf to create and send each of these reps a commission statement.
I want to do now is link the code below to a drop-down menu I have created on one of the sheets in the workbook. I created this list using data validation and declared this drop-down menu as MIndex and the values to choice from are 0,1,2.
Does anyone know how I can link this drop-down menu to the macro. So basically once the drop-down menu is activated run this macro.
Sub SumMonthlyVol() Dim wSheet As Worksheet For Each wSheet In Worksheets Select Case UCase(Left(wSheet. Name, 2)) Case "AJ", "CJ", "PJ"
If (MIndex = 0) Then wSheet.Range("L52") = "= SUM(R33C4:R50C12)" Else If (MIndex = 1) Then wSheet.Range("L52") = "=SUM(R34C4:R50C12)" ......................
I have seen this problem mentioned on other threads, but, didn't see the resolution. I got the below code from contextures.com's sample spreadsheet DataValComboBoxSheet.xls. When I press the tab or enter key, Excel crashes. This macro does exactly what I need which is to allow the user to autocomplete from a long list of validation values that come from another spreadsheet. The code causing the crash is the Select Case KeyCode statement when the keycode is 9 or 13. I am running Excel 2002.
Option Explicit
Private Sub TempCombo_KeyDown(ByVal _ KeyCode As MSForms.ReturnInteger, _ ByVal Shift As Integer) 'Hide combo box and move to next cell on Enter and Tab Select Case KeyCode Case 9 ActiveCell.Offset(0, 1).Activate Case 13 ActiveCell.Offset(1, 0).Activate Case Else 'do nothing End Select ....................................
I'm looking for a method, vba macro or Excel code, to preform the following task: In the C column the user chooses one of several options from a menu, let's call these options 1 - 10 (this part is already done). Depending on the choise, different things are supposed to happen:
For 1-9, the formulas for cell A - Q on the current row should be copied to the next row (but with +1 in row number in formulas of course).
For 10, 3 blank rows should be created (well they already are blank..), on the forth row down, A3 - Q3 should be copied exactly. On the fifth row, the same formulas thing that was created for choise 1-9 should be created.
Since the real xls-file is too big already and it contains some sensitive information, I can't attach it here, but I made a small and similar xls-file, that better explain what I want to do.
How can I select a particular data item in a data validation cell. My requirement is that I need a particular item to be displayed in data validation cell(I already have the item value with me)
Is there any way when using dependent validation lists, that once a selection is made in one list, the next list will automatically default to it's first item?
So in the attached example, if Activity2 is selected in cell B7, then TaskC would automatically appear in cell C7 but the user can still choose a different value if necessary?
I have a VBA macro for Excel 2007 below that loops through a workbook and deletes a picture (shape) in a range at the top of each worksheet.
The macro works fine until a cell which contains a seemingly unrelated data validation list on Sheets(1) is changed. The macro then repeatedly trips up with a 'Run-time error 1004 - Application defined or object defined error'.
The cell with the data validation is outside of the range in which the shapes are deleted and does not set any of the variables in the macro.
Sub DeleteLogos() Dim Count As Integer Dim NumberOfWorksheets As Integer Dim Logo As Shape Dim LogoZone As Range NumberOfWorksheets = Worksheets.Count For Count = 1 To NumberOfWorksheets With Sheets(Count)
