I have 18 columns in a worksheet. (Let's say AA:RR). I've filled A1:R1 with the following series: WEEK 1,WEEK 2,.....WEEK 18.

I also have a named range (Start_Date) on another worksheet. Column 1 in that named range is WEEK 1, WEEK 2,......WEEK 18. Column 2 contains Start Dates for each week. If I input the following formula into cell A10:

I am trying to do Vlookups across multiple sheets but cannot make it work. My result is #VALUE!

When I look at the Function Arguments it says the Table Array is Volatile.

My named range "Centers" has 19 tabs listed.

I have a vlookup formula that works when looking up one specific value (ie F2 in example below)

=VLOOKUP($F$2,'All active PRs (RP6)'!B2:L2,12,FALSE)

But now, I want to lookup a range of possible text values (say F2 to F8 which would all have different text values). I've created F2 to F8 as a named range called ISS_Services and created a new formula

=VLOOKUP(ISS_Services,'All active PRs (RP6)'!$A2:$L2,5,FALSE)

But it doesn't want to work consistently. Can vlookup work in this scenario?

I'm trying to write a vlookup where both the lookup value and the table_array are variables. What I'm trying to do is get a set of dependent drop down boxes to serve as the input for vlookup. Excel 2010 :: VLookup With Named Range Not Updating?

There is a formula

=vlookup(a1,Named_Range,2,false)

if I change a value in the range named "Named_Range" this vlookup does not update.

This formula works but does not allow for any updates. Meaning the vlookup returns the original value even after a cell has been changed. "Named_Range" is on a different sheet but in the same workbook.

Auto calculate is on. I have recalculated the cell manually. I have Office 2010

Referencing Named Range Without Using Worksheet Name

I want to export data from a set of named ranges in workbook x to another set of ranges in workbook y. The names of the ranges to be exported from and to are spesified in a table "Table_Export". Problem is I do not want to spesify in what sheets these respective ranges are located, seeing that I do not know the actual sheet names. But since the ranges are global it should somehow be possible to reference them in vba without referencing the respective worksheet?

The relevant code can be found below where either of the two 'commented lines within the if statement are what I want to accomplish.

I put all my named ranges in a seperate worksheet in the workbook.

On a different sheet I have all my data with references to the named ranges. But what it gives me is the cell information from the sheet on which the named range is located and not on the worksheet where I actually need the calculations to be done.

Have a query that pulls general ledger data. Named Range SALES defined for Sales Account numbers. What is the best way to always have SALES (which pulls as negative number) converted to absolute values?

I have in my mind that it would be some sort of worksheet change event . . . but I don't really grasp the byval/byref TARGET concept by itself, let alone whether it can work on a named range.

The code posted does basicly what I need however I was wondering if it is possible to save only "ONE" specific sheet which could be specified in the code, to a specific folder specified in the code and under a name defined by a cells contents. eg.

Save a single sheet named "MatData" from a workbook, name the saved sheet from a "named range on sheet1" & "Cutlist" & ".xls"

I have a worksheet called "Lookup" with several dynamic named ranges (each is 1 column wide) including facility, department, shift, etc. On a summary worksheet in the same workbook I want users to use a dropdown or combo box (don't care what type) in cell B2 to select a facility and then based on their selection, copy the department named range data and paste it into the summary sheet beginning in cell A5 and paste the shift named range data into the summary sheet beginning in cell B5.

Example: user selects "AR Plant" from the dropdown or combo box and the data from the "AR_Rpt" named range is pasted into cell A5 and the "AR_Shift" named range is pasted into cell B5.

Filter OLAP Pivot Table Based On Named Range In Another Worksheet

I have a named range of values on Sheet2 (GPI). Sheet1 is an OLAP pivot table containing row label (GPI 14) and values (Net Rx Count) only.

Unfiltered this list is over 7,000 rows. I need VBA code to display only those rows where the GPI 14 value matches any value in the named GPI range on Sheet2.

In other words how can I display the select rows without manually selecting the items of interest AND without manually hard coding the values in the code as they will change.

Below is 1 of the many codes I tried. This appears to be the most intuitive but I get an 'invalid procedure" error at Set my PivotTable...

This function determines where on the "Maple" named range to get the data based on the thickness of the material (.25 or .375 from G6 dropdown). What I'm wondering is if VLOOKUP's 2nd operator (in this case "Maple") can be filled in dynamically based on another drop-down menu. I have 8 different species and I'd like to avoid a lengthy IF/THEN statement. OR, is there a completely different function that I should be looking at here?

Making Named Range The Last Active Value Used Within Another Named Range?

I'm trying to make my named ranges remember the values of the last active cells used within another named range. The purpose of this is to make my charts dynamically change dependant on two criteria selected. My spreadsheet currently updates itself as and when I change the active cell within a single named range, dynamically changing the chart data by using Lookup based on the active cells value. However I want to get away from having several charts showing, I would like to have a single chart which dynamically changes based on a second selection. So the first selection is for a department (Facility) which changes the chart data relevant to that department, the second selection is to dynamically change the chart shown for the pre selected department.

Using the following code when updating just one criteria with several charts

I am having problems getting the code below to follow my intentions. I have 2 files. I have a temporary file that holds all the data that I need. I have a destination file that needs to have data copied into it. In the temp file, I have data for several dates and product types. What I intend to do is to do a vlookup in VBA to look for the date and the product type in the temp file and copy the appropriate data to the destination file. I have numerous named ranges both in my temp file and my destination file. For the code below, I wanted to make a loop to find the date in the temp file that is listed in the destination file. Once this is done, I wanted to find the product type in the temp file that is listed in the destination file. If both conditions exist, then copy a certain range from the temp file to the destination file. My intention is evident in the code, but I don’t think that I am putting in the correct “code format”.

Copy/Paste Cell To Named Range Named In Adjacent Cell

I have read post re this question but have not been able to answer my problem. I get the error message 'Application defined or object defined error' when running the code below. I should indicate the range counter currently indicated about 6,200 rows that this code will work on and the individual range names in the list of 6,200 rows are spread over at least 20 worksheets.

The code appears to be running but after some time it stops on the line of code 'Range(Cells(i, 1).Value) = Cells(i, 2)'.

Using Named Cell Content Value In VLookup Formula?

I am trying to reference a named cell in a VLOOKUP formula as the table_array parameter.

The Named Cell "Input1" contains a table array definition of '[Test.xls]Sheet1'!$H$10:$J$100

When I try VLOOKUP($D3,Input1,3,0) - This returns #N/A as a result.

When I try VLOOKUP($D3,INDIRECT(Input1),3,0) - This returns a #REF error.

When I copy and past the contents of the Input1 named cell directly into the VLOOKUP formula, it works so I know the array reference is valid.

I am not proficient in VBA so I would like to accomplish this using basic Excel formulas if possible. how I can reference the named cell and have the cell value returned in the VLOOKUP function?

Vlookup And Dynamic Named Ranges = #ref Error

I am trying to merge data from two worksheets onto a 3rd for a mail merge. The COLLECTIONS sheet contains the acct #, name and amount owed. The ADDRESSES sheet contains the acct #, name and all of the address information. The 3rd sheet is the MERGE sheet that I'm using as the reference point for my word document and the mail merge. Upon reflection the MERGE sheet is probably not necessary, but made sense to have it when I started out.

Never the less...
On the ADDRESSES sheet I am trying to name a dynamic range "AddressList" (I'm trying to go dynamic because the list of addresses will change from month to month). I am using the following formula in the refers to field when I name the range:

=Offset(Addresses!$A$5,0,0,CountA(Addresses!$A:$A),CountA(Addresses!$1:$1))

I think this is what is giving me my problem, because the named range does not show up in the list when I try to go to the named range.

Just in case that is not the problem, the #Ref is showing up when on the MERGE sheet I type a vlookup formula referencing the acct # on the ADDRESSES sheet. That formula looks like this:

=VLOOKUP(A4,AddressList,3,0)

which seems simple enough. Before trying to make the named range dynamic the formula worked fine, which is why I'm thinking the named range is what's giving me the problems.

Find Matched Value In A Range For Named Cell Then Copy Range Cells Below

I need method, using a button, that looks at a cell--say EO2, for example--, looks back on a master worksheet at a specified row and range for a match, then looks at the information from a specified range below the matching cell (The information in this column will either be blank or have an "X" in the cell), and then those rows that do not have an "X" will be hidden in the corresponding rows in the working worksheet. Therefore, if at any time the value in "EO2" ever changes, then it will automatically find a new match and repopulate and hide information as before. About 130 columns will have its own button so that a "query" can be made that depends on the information in a particular cell in that column.

The master worksheet now has matrix of 287 rows and 58 columns. Each row is for an operating procedure and each column shows a job code. An "X" in a coordinate cell for a column/row shows whether that job code is responsible for knowing that operating procedure. So, on the working sheet, an employee's primary job code is given underneath his or her name. When the button is pushed, all the operating procedures not required for a given person will be hidden and only the required ones will remain visible--grouped, if you will. Qualification dates will be easier to see now that the information is consolidated. Whenever someone transfers to a new position, a new code will be inputed on the working sheet. When the button is pushed, a new grouping will result. Any operating instructions that overlap will still have qualification dates, so that information will not need to be transcribed.
