View 9 RepliesI am receiving a 'subscript out of range' error on the lines of code below.
I would note that all variables are declared and all seem meaningful as regards what you would expect at that point.
Below is a snippet from the immediate window which indicates what the values are:
completecashname C:CashDevelopmentMyFolderoutputCASH042706.xls
cashsheetname Formatted Sheet
cashcurrcolumn A
cashfirstrow 2
cashlastrow 876
Also the workbooks are both closed at this point (but it makes no difference)
Set CashCopy = Workbooks(CompleteCashName).Sheets(CashSheetName). _
Range(CashCurrColumn & Cashfirstrow & ":K" & Cashlastrow).Value
Set PelPaste = Workbooks(completepelname).Sheets(PELSheetName). _
Range((PELCurrColumn & PELlastrow)).Value
Is there code that will take certain data from one Excel sheet to another named file in a different place on the network? Example Copy cell aa47 from "Recent Faxes.xls" that sits in "correspondence" folder. Then paste into cell B25 "Current Documentation.xls" in the "Sales Contacts" folder
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have 18 columns in a worksheet. (Let's say AA:RR). I've filled A1:R1 with the following series: WEEK 1,WEEK 2,.....WEEK 18.
I also have a named range (Start_Date) on another worksheet. Column 1 in that named range is WEEK 1, WEEK 2,......WEEK 18. Column 2 contains Start Dates for each week. If I input the following formula into cell A10:
IF(ISNA(VLOOKUP($B$2;INDIRECT("'G:2007Projekt opfølgning[OMKLIST.xls]kreditor!'"&J24&":"&L24);2;FALSE));"0";VLOOKUP($B$2;INDIRECT("'G:2007Projekt opfølgning[OMKLIST.xls]kreditor!'"&J24&":"&L24);2;FALSE))
It is the part regarding til indirect that gives me problems
This form I can get it to work
IF(ISNA(VLOOKUP($B$2;INDIRECT("[OMKLIST.xls]kreditor!"&J25&":"&L25);2;FALSE));"0";VLOOKUP($B$2;INDIRECT("[OMKLIST.xls]kreditor!"&J25&":"&L25);2;FALSE))
But here I need the Omklist.xls to be open. And that I dont want.
The what i want is that the user can use the sheet with out oping the data sheet..
I'm trying to Access data from an XL file without actually opening the file. In an XL spreadsheet I type in a cell: =VLOOKUP("A", 'C:[Book2.xls]Sheet1'!$A$1:$B$10,1) and get an answer without a problem. In VBA, I try the line of
Current = Application.VLookup("A", Range("'C:[Book2.xls]Sheet1'!$A$1:$B$10"), 1)
and get an error that says Method 'Range' of object '_Global' failed
The following code shows the result/formula that is generated in a particular cell when I run Macro2:
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a vlookup function which takes the data from a table in a closed file. A folder where the file would be located will change based on the value in the cell reference.
I used below formula which works, but every time when i drag or try to edit and enter, the path of the file path brokes and i need to reselect the path where the file is located. Is there a way where i can stop this?
Code:
=VLOOKUP(A2,'C:&E1&[Myfile.xls]Sheet2'!$A:$B,2,0)
I am trying to use a routine that I copied from another thread on this forum, but I get an error message: Runtime error "1004" Copy method of worksheet failed.
I'm reading data, from specific cells off a closed workbook. When the sheet that needs said cell data is activated, it automatically opens the workbook and references the sheet nessecary. The issue I've come across, is I now need to access another workbook (Easy to open) with 12 sheets 1 for each month, and only read from the worksheet of the actual Month. Kind of lost on how to possibly make this work. I basically need something like: =location/[workbook.xls]worksheet!cell - where worksheet = B12 and B12 =month(today()) and is formatted to MMMM
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to return the value from "WorkbookZ" cell A1. The workbook is closed and I am trying to utilize the indirect function
=INDIRECT(G5 & "!A1")
CELLG5 = 'G:Folder1Folder2[WorkbookZ.xlsm]Sheet1'
I have 2 workbooks, and want to copy an entire worksheet from 1 to the other workbook.
In the closed workbook, I want to copy "Sheet1", and paste that into the open workbook on worksheet "Original File". What code do I need to complete this?
I have code that links my existing workbook to a closed workbook. It works as planned but it goes to far. In my first workbook, the one containing the code, I may have up to 30 worksheets. If I am on Sheet5 I may need to run the vba code to update cells X:X only on Sheet5 but instead it updates cells X:X on all Sheets in the workbook. How can I keep this from happening?
I have asked this on another forum but it seems to be a difficult thing, perhaps impossible thing to keep from happening.
I am trying to open a stored file on a network drive (with the file location stored in cell E4). When I try to run the macro, I get an error message on Line 3. (Sheets(E4.Value).Activate)
Does anyone know what I can do to fix this, or have a better method to open the closed files?
I've read that it's possible to reference information from a closed sheet, but I don't think that I'm experienced enough in VBA to take on that effort yet.
How can I pull data from a specific cell from a closed worksheet in VBA?
Not sure but I think that Workbook("wb1.xls").Worksheet("Sheet1").Range("A2") only works if the worksheet is open.
At the moment, I have a project where everyone is putting work data on seperate workbooks. Each months work is placed onto another worksheet within that workbook.
The supervisor has his own workbook, that grabs data from each of the workers books. Getting the data is easy enough, however because the supervisor has barely any knowledge of computers, I would like to make it as easy to set up for future months.
Right now, data is collected in each cell using the following formula:-
='[otherusersworkbook.xls]December 2009'!$C$620
Is there a way of getting that phrase to substitute the part that says "December 2009" with whatever is put into column A on the same row?
Lets say I have 10 workbooks in a folder called "Lists"
I want to copy from my open file range("R3:U17") to these workbooks without opening 10 files and copying and pasting.
I just thought if there was an easy way of doing this rather than opening all of them I would give it a try.
I'm using the following sub (thx Benvolio 2001) to do a vlookup (of A1 in Sheet2) and drop the resulting value ("found") in b1 of sheet2. Here's my question: I'm having trouble modifying the rng to use a closed workbook in another folder i:other folderotherfile.xls. The "Inventory" tab is in otherfile.xls
How can i do this? use the vlookup in a closed workbook somewhere else?
Sub Example_of_Vlookup()
Dim lookFor As Range
Dim rng As Range
Dim found As Variant
Set lookFor = Sheets("Sheet2").Range("A1")
Set rng = Sheets("Inventory").range("A4:D500")
On Error Resume Next
found = Application.Vlookup(lookFor.Value, rng, 4, 0)
Range("b1").value = found
End Sub
I'm trying to find a way to import data from an external excel file that the end-user will ultimately end up choosing using the application. getopenfilename dialogue. I'm able to sucessfully open the file, but what I'm really trying to do is import data from one specific column within the file, preferably without the source spreadsheet popping up.
So, is this possible to do with VBA? Also, will I run into any issues if I try to import from an Excel 2.1 file to an Excel 2003 file using VBA? Finally, I need to be able to import one file, and then be able to add to that an import from another file. I'm thinking that this could be accomplished using a variant variable, but is there already a function within Excel so that I won't have to create my own add-to function.
I put the following codes in the module of Workbook BS. The codes successfully opened the workbook of 2008. Unfortunately, nothing was pasted to Workbook BS of sheet2. let me know any things missing from my codes.
Sub COPY()
Dim wb1 As Workbook
Dim wb2 As Workbook
Dim rng As Range
Set wb1 = Workbooks.Open("C:Documents and SettingsuserMy Documents20082008.xls")
Set wb2 = Workbooks.Open("C:Documents and SettingsuserMy Documents2008BS.xls")
wb1.Worksheets("S").rng("B:B").COPY wb2.Worksheets("Sheet2").Range("A:A").End(xlToLeft).Offset(, 1)
End Sub
I've been trying for a while not to reference a range of cells in closed workbooks to create an ongoing automatic log.
I've attached a test log with the details required and the cells are staggered, I have been using the formula;
='NETWORKPATHFOLDER[121113 12.42.xls]Enquiry Form'!$G$1
then the cells are (SAME PATH) J1, A5, A7, A9, A11, A13, A15, A17, A19, A21, A31, B31, E31, J31
and the attached test will placed then in that order under their respective headers.
So, all in all, is there a VBA code where it can run it from closed workbooks in the order above?

Due to some cutbacks the company I work for has taken away the database system we used to use to record debts owed to us, so I'm building one in excel (no access or sql otherwise I'd use those). We have all the debt in seperate workbooks by financial period and I'm creating a new workbook that will upon entering of a specific financial period will pull information from the pertaining workbook and report on the information.
I have a Formula
=INDIRECT.EXT(CONCATENATE("'C:Documents and Settingshughel13My Documents[",Reports!$C$11,".xls]Sheet1'!R2:R138"))
Among others which pull other ranges
Which as I understand should work just fine on a closed workbook, however it only works when the target workbook is open.
When the workbook is closed the formula only pulls the first value in the range.
On a related note the above formula and it's counterparts are autofilled down the page from 2 to 1000 as some of the workbooks have 1000 records to pull, however the ones that dont have that many, cause errors when the data is pulled, is there a way to make it so that if the cell it's pulling from is empty it doesn't pull from it or pulls a value of 0?
I have a closed workbook with data in 12 columns. I have an other workbook where I choose a column and the formula needs to return the sum of the data from column 1 to the chosen column, in a given row. I can't use INDIRECT or SUMIF because of the closed workbook, so I'll probably need a formula using sumproduct, but I can't find a solution on the net.
View 2 Replies View RelatedCopy and paste the values only from one workbook and a set of named ranges (Name1, Name2, Name3) but only the rows within the range were TRUE is found in column A - To a CLOSED workbook named Data / Sheet1 - located at C:NetworkTemplate starting with cell B10.
I would like to be able to have a user execute a macro by clicking a command button that would copy some named ranges (Name1,Name2,Name3) BUT ONLY the rows/cells that have "True" in column A. The destination for the pasted data is a closed Workbook named Data – Sheet1 located on a network drive (\NetworkTemplate)
Example:
One named range are cells D10:D50, a second named range are cells F10:F50, and a third is G10:G50. – But ONLY rows 11, 13,14 have True in column A, so I only want to copy the 9 cells not the entire row from those select ranges and open a closed workbook and paste the values only starting with cell B10.
I can not find anything that looks for a value in one column and only copies select cells to another workbook.
I have the following code that works properly, Copy & Paste Same Range On Protected Sheet From Multiple Workbooks
Sub RunCodeOnAllXLSFiles()
Dim lCount As Long
Dim wbResults As Workbook
Dim wbCodeBook As Workbook, book1R As Range
Application. ScreenUpdating = False
Application.DisplayAlerts = False
Application.EnableEvents = False
On Error Resume Next
Set wbCodeBook = ThisWorkbook
With Application.FileSearch
.NewSearch

I am trying to make Excel pull data out of a closed file based on a date range. The closed file is a log where people input data and enter the day they are doing it. I need to pull this data in my file and make it print into my worksheets so I can pass a report on to others with only the data they request from the log.
The range would be for 7 days and would have to be able to choose a few columns off this report.
I have an open workbook (A) and this is where the code should reside. I want to use VBA to copy the content of an entire worksheet from a closed workbook (B) to an existing worksheet in workbook A. How would you accomplish this?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have many workbooks which all have a summary sheet called summary, and which are all kept in the same folder (although this folder name/filepath may change from year to year).
I want to be able to set up the column headings and then copy the same set of summary information from each book so that it can then be used for analysis. The cells to be copies derive their value from formulae, it is the value that needs to be copied.
I attach a workbook with the format needed and the source cells. The source sheet will be password protected.
I know this is a question that has been raised before and I have searched the forum but not come across a question that is close enough to work from - my VB skills are appalling.
I want a macro in one worksheet to run when any cell (in a given range)on a different worksheet (dataentry) is updated. I have spent along time trying to make it work with no avail. The code I use to start my macro is as follows.
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
If Target.Cells.Count <> 1 Then Exit Sub
If Target(1, 1).Address = "dataentry!H5:IV72" Then
If Not Intersect(Target(1, 1), Range("dataentry!H5:IV72")) Is Nothing Then
On Error Resume Next
Application.EnableEvents = False
