I have a macro that creates a new sheet and names it based off a cell value (date, MM-DD-YY), and copies a 'Template' sheet to it, values only. Every so often, two sheets need to be made with the same date. I need the right direction in creating an addition to the below code that will add an A, B, or C at the end of the sheet name if the name is already taken?

I have found dozens of examples of VBA code that will do this for me and seemingly very clear instructions on how to do it (for example this), but haven't yet been able to successfully run anything in my spreadsheet. It either doesn't do anything, or I get an error message of a bad file name.

However, I cannot find the way to check for Time. In addition, the method IsText will return True even if the active cell value is a date.
I have a cell in which I would like to have a user enter an email address. If it does not follow a valid format I would like it to display an error message, "Invalid E-mail Address", clear contents and re-select the cell otherwise move to the next cell. By Valid email I want it to check for only one "@", and at least one "." but I also want it so that a user can't just bypass it with typing "@.". I would like it to reject special characters and spaces and only allow "-" and "_" maybe a general format of <name>@<place>.<domain>
The cell in question is K45 and the following cell would be K47 if a valid email is entered
Any way to check if data entered is a valid date using a VBA function/routine?
For example, cdate() and isdate() functions accept dates like 31-Feb-12 and 29-Feb-11 when they are not valid.
If the cell is formatted as date format, then Excel replaces hyphens with forward slashes for dates, except invalid ones like 31-Feb-12 and 29-Feb-11, so in these cases I can test for existence of forward slashes in the following way
Len(Mid(pCell, InStr(pCell, "/") + 1, Len(pCell) - InStr(pCell, "/"))) 7
However this approach fails for Input boxes. Obviously I can't convert the Input box response using cdate function as it will incorrectly accept 31-Feb-12 as a valid date.
Any routines that will work for both cell entered and Input box entered dates?

I need to create a leave tracker wherein i will get the names of the person who want to take leave in that particular month. I have prepared a calendar to make an entry. I need to take care of the following things
1) The person must have sufficient leave balance available to take the leave. so i have to first check if he/she has sufficient leave balance.
2) There are four team leaders and each team has around 13-14 members. so if lots of people from the same team apply for the leave then they will not be eligible for leave. this i want to know in percentage as to how much percentage of people are taking leave from that particular team.
I am using EXCEL 2007. When I refresh the individual pivot tables, I don't get any error. But when I click on Refresh all Pivot, I get a Reference if not valid error. The source for my pivot is referencing to another workbook. Why is there this error and how can I resolve it?

Description;- I have made an excel sheet for daily stock details which contains data like stock in, out, daily production for various products. I have made a menu which contains button of stock in, out and production, and one sheet for current stock where I enter In and out. I wand a macro when I click the button from the main menu it gives me all the production details taking from one sheet and past it in different sheet in the same workbook but it should not give the details of those products which does not have and production.

- a list of data
- a pivottable based on these data
When moving this worksheet this worksheet to another workbook, the pivot table can't refresh anymore. This throws an error message "Reference is not valid". To work around this problem I need to adapt the datasource. The same occurs if the list and the pivot table are on separate sheet, with the added strange behaviour that, when data an PT are split, it is not possible to move both sheet together.
This would not be a big issue if my problem had to be solved manually. The real problem is that I need to move the sheets from a C# program.
I have a doc on sharepoint called adamc.xlsx
When I open the doc I would like the workbook open event to check the document out for editing on the workbook close event i would like it to be checked back in...
Been playing around with Workbooks.CancheckOut but I've completely lost the plot.....

I have a test to see if a text string is in an array that mostly works, but sometimes fails and I don't understand why.
The routine calls a Function IsInArray which returns a True/False value depending on whether the search term is in the array.

In this case the first item in my array is "a - b" (note that this is a text string ), but for some reason because my test value is "a" the routine things it must be in the array.
Thus I am thinking that the ampersand and dash symbols are somehow confusing my routine.
How can I change my routine so that it correctly identifies which text strings are in my array?
I am trying to create a spreadsheet which will open with sheet1 showing 'Terms and conditions' with 2 check box's. Once the check box's are checked I then want subsequence sheets to unhide. E.g check box 1 ticked - will unhide sheet 2 - (containing the report) check box 2 ticked - will unhide sheet 3 - (containing the data)
Basically, by the use of check box's I am trying to get the user to read and agree to terms/disclaimer of the use of data. Therefore can the workbook also always open with the one sheet 'terms and conditions' showing only.

1. first I export data and directly paste in the "RAWDATA" Sheet.
2.There are 50 columns and each has header like Clientname,date,Id,campaign,websitename,frequecncy etc.
3.Exported data does not have same order
4.so when I paste data in excel I check manually if orders are in correct or not?which takes my long time to review/manually check

So I have an 2 ActiveX button and 2 ActiveX checkboxes. I have it set up so that the Split button will enable when both checkboxes are checked. The ClearAll button has a code/macro in it that will check the "Cleared All" checkbox when the Clearall button is pressed.
My problem is with the "Populated Data" checkbox. I want it to check/uncheck itself if there is anything in Range("A1") of a tab called "Data".
The names of these buttons/checkboxes are
"Cleared All" = ClearCheckBox
"Populated Data" = DataCheckBox
"Split" = SplitButton

I'm using the code to hide two rows which works fine, however my code to hide the check box (second line of code)
I am just wondering if there is a way of checking if the workbook that is currently open is the only one that is open, as I have been asked to make my code exit the application if this is the case rather that just close that one file.

Problem: I have a report that is broken into three categories.
Column A includes locations, Column B includes vendors. Across the top, the monthly report is broken into four classifications (trans types), which are then further subdivided by quantity and cost. (Rough estimation is provided below)

My data comes in sorted by location, and subtotaled by vendor and trans type. So I'll have a row of data that includes:
Location 1, Vendor A, Z51, $200, 2
Location 1, Vendor A, Z53, $150, 2
Location 1, Vendor B, Z53, $150, 1
...
What I need to do is pull the data for Z53 based on Location & Vendor. So from the data is would read Location 1 & Vendor A and then find them on the report and paste into the appropriate row (in my report Z53 qty is col E and $ is col F).
I was trying to do a macro that within a determined range (finding the first and last instance of Z53) would match location and vendor to the monthly report and paste the values of Qty and $ into the appropriate fields. Below is what I managed to mangle:

I was originally trying to match from the report to the data and then copy back to the report, but I had the idea of instead taking the location and vendor from the data and finding the match on the report and pasting. That way I wouldn't have to worry about errors (unless a new location was added that was not included on the report - which I think is an easier fix than trying to go the other way, but maybe not).
way to find out if an Excel file is open from PowerPoint. I know there are ways to open the Excel file, but you can get a warning message if the file is already open. So I want to check to see if it is open first before I go to the code that opens it.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI created an add-in for Excel 2003 by following your site's instructions, substituting my own subroutine's name for "MyGreatMacro" (for the purposes on testing all it does is spit out a MsgBox). I then put the resulting xla file on a network drive and went through the standard process for installing an Addin :
Tools -> Addins -> Browse for the file and hit ok, check it off, etc
This works perfectly fine when i try to install on my own machine, but when I try on other user's machines I get an error message stating that the xla file is not a valid Addin. Excel's error message in this case is about as unhelpful as they come.
