Code To Warn If Row Is Not Hidden?
Jun 10, 2013I have a row on a tab that I always want to hide before I print or save. Is it possible to get a message to pop up if I try and print the page while row 33 is not hidden?

View 5 RepliesIs it possible to check, with VBA code running some sort of "If" function in the background in an open workbook within which the VBA code is placed, whether a user is opening (or attempting to open) the VBA Editor? This should see any attempt being made, whether the user uses Tools>Macro>Visual Basic Editor, Alt + F11 or right clicking on the Excel icon top left to "View Code".

View 2 Replies View RelatedRight now I have a script that will highlight any rows where columns "Unit1" and "Unit2" share the same value.
The script is below:
[Code] .....
How to modify this so that it only highlights rows where the same data is duplicated twice?
For example if both columns had "The dog runs" as their value in the same row, then this would only get highlighted if two or more rows on the sheet also had "The dog runs" for both their value.
Example: example.jpg
I am having difficulty getting a script to work that manages duplicates being added to a worksheet from a userform. Each record is assigned a unique ID when it is added to the worksheet initially. The problem that I am having is that the user wants to add non-unique information to the worksheet in unique records periodically. I can do that, but I am looking to make the application more user-friendly by reducing the number of msgboxes he has to respond to in order to do this. I have some code below which works, but it needs to be smarter.
Private Sub UpdateContact()
Dim strAnswer As String
'Copy values from Customer Form controls to Data array
tbxWrkTel.Text = Format(tbxWrkTel, "000 000 0000")
tbxMobile.Text = Format(tbxMobile, "000 000 0000")
tbxHomeTel.Text = Format(tbxHomeTel, "000 000 0000")
If Not WorksheetFunction.CountIf(Sheet1.Columns(1), tbxCompany) > 0 Or _
Not WorksheetFunction.CountIf(Sheet1.Columns(2), tbxContact) > 0 Then 'To avoid duplicate data
If tbxCompany = "" Then tbxCompany = "-".........................
I want to combine the following two procedures, but I can’t figure out how . The purpose of the procedures is to warn the user to save data before importing and overwriting data that was already there.
Sub Is_sheet_empty()
If Range("your range") = vbNullString Then
Call Add_New_Data
Else: Call Sheet_Not_Empty
End If
End Sub
Sub Sheet_Not_Empty ()
Dim Response As VbMsgBoxResult
Response = MsgBox("Do you want to replace this data?", vbYesNo + vbQuestion)
If Response = vbYes Then
Call Add_New_Data
Else: Response = vbNo
‘Do Nothing
End If
End Sub
I have placed the code I am using below. It takes values from a hidden sheet (PACTAct) and places them on a visible sheet (Email). The code moves between the two.
It works at the minute by unhiding the PACTAct sheet then at the end re-hiding it. However I don't want the user to see this sheet whilst the vba is running. Is there a way I can simply refer to the worksheet without unhiding it?
I downloaded a cool add-in from XL-Logic that lets you select sheets to print. It's great, except that I need to print very hidden sheets and it does not display very hidden sheets. Does anyone know how to modify this code so it will list all sheet including very hidden sheets? And is there a way to make the sheets appear in alphabetical order? I've tried to play with it, but I don't know enough about VB....
View 9 Replies View RelatedA spreadsheet that needs a new menu item in a custom menu does not show the custom menu code. Tools-->Customize-->Commands-->Rearrange Commands shows the menu and allows me to add a new menu item and macro.
After saving and exiting excel and going back into the spreadsheet, the new menu item is gone. How can I find the code to do this to keep the menu item? In the VBE, I looked in the object browser(F2) in all of the libraries and could not find the code. In the workbook_open and workbook_activate I can disable it with CommandBars("Worksheet Menu Bar").Controls("menu").Delete and it disappears.
I have a workbook with various pages that are all hidden except the main page, on the main page it allows users to select items froms drop down boxes that returns a figure to cell B7 on the selection page.
What i would like to do is press a command button and the hidden worksheet that relates to that figure in cell B7 opens which allows the users to print it then after printing or closing the workbook is hidden again.
I need this code below to work in a macro on a hidden sheet.. FYI the sheet name is "Closed".

Consider two instances of Excel - one with a workbook containing a chart and some VBA code, the other containing a blank workbook. When I paste a chart from the first instance of Excel to the other, all the VBA code from the original workbook is also pasted into a new third hidden workbook in the second instance of Excel! If that weren't weird enough ON WINDOWS XP (but not Windows 2000) if the VBA code included WorkbookOpen or AutoOpen this code is executed in the second instance of Excel, which of course fails if it references sheets that only existed in the workbook open in the first instance of Excel! This is the first time I've seen the same version of Excel do different things on different versions of Windows! Example attached - What's going on!? Auto Merged Post Until 24 Hrs Passes;...note: this does not happen when pasting charts between workbooks open in the SAME instance of Excel
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am trying to format all cells on all sheets (hidden or otherwise) as "Locked" so when the sheets are protected the user can't see the formulas. This macro individually selects every sheet in the book and applys the formatting. Is there a way to modify this code to accomplish the same thing without having it actually select every sheet? The only reason it is an issue is that after running the macro you end up on the last sheet in the book.
View 7 Replies View Relatedim looking for a basic macro for workbook copying, all workbook(all hidden, unhidden, and very hidden) sheets.
i know how to do unhidden sheets of course however the hidden and very hidden are giving me some trouble...i need to also copy over all the macro's, buttons, and drop down box's as well..not just values.
i have an old spreadsheet that i created about a year or so ago.
i managed to make some sheets "very hidden" as opposed to just "hidden" or "visible".
the problem is i can't find them ! i have tried "format, sheet, unhide" but that is greyed out.
i do have passwords for them, but i can't find them to put these in!
I use excel 2002 but some of my office are on 97, i want to add a small workbook open event code which works for me but debugs for the others?? The code is basically, go to a tab, on that tab and that range sort..
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've developed a little software using Excel Macros & VB. To prevent people from accesing the code I protected the code blocking it from visualization. It seems not enough as an acquaintance of a friend cracked it in 25 minutes. Or so he says. So I'd like to know if there is a better way to protect the font code.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am using the VLookup function with two seperate sheets. The first sheet is what I have created. The second sheet is one that was given to me.
I know how to build the format as I have done it numerous times in the past. This one only works if I copy the data into notepad, then copy it back into excel. Then it will work. I have looked at the formatting and I cannot see any differences.
way to get it to work without the notepad part?
I have a 15 sheet spreadsheet that has many formula and results that are obtained from a "Master Sheet." I want to hide the "Master Sheet" from users view.

View 11 Replies View RelatedOn my worksheet, each row between 20 an 50 may be hidden or unhidden; that will constantly change. When one of these rows is hidden (such as row 21), I'd like the value in column C in that same row (such as C21) to be 0 (zero). If the row is visibile, I'd like the value in column C in that same row to be 1. Is there worksheet code to do this?

View 9 Replies View Relatedi've an excel file where a final presentable sheet is linked to some hidden sheets which i dont want the user to see. Thru VBA, i'm performing some format related stuff in those hidden sheets, using: Sheets("Historical1").Visible = True. later, VBA sets it back to FALSE. But, i want to get rid of this hiding/unhiding, if its possible. My code has the following structure:
Sub tame_blph1()
Sheets("Historical1").Visible = True
Sheets("Historical1").Activate
Dim coll As Integer
Dim startcoll As Integer
Dim endcoll As Integer
startcoll = 25
endcoll = 124
For coll = startcoll To endcoll Step 2
If Len(selection) > 0 Then Call Macro1
Next coll
Sheets("Historical1").Visible = False
Sheets("Table").Select
End Sub
In other words, can we perform the above without hiding and unhiding the Sheet called "Historical1"
I have a worksheet with 28 sheets. I want the first sheet to be the only sheet displayed when opening the file and then want people to have the ability to click a hyperlink to unhide a particular sheet. Then when they go back to the main page (via another hyperlink), the sheet that was unhidden will be hidden again. I was able to put together some code from [URL]. When I click on a hyperlink on the main page, I get a "Subscript out of range" error and it highlights Sheets(strSheet).Visible=True from the Worksheet_FollowHyperlink code. I made a basic spreadsheet with just 3 sheets and plugged this code in and it worked fine so I'm not quite sure what the error is. I attached the spreadsheet I'm using.

I've tried using SUMIF as well as the AGGREGATE function but no success, yet.
when I want to send by email I find I cannot copy these smaller sheets - every attempt at a copy will also copy the hidden columns.
How to copy a spreadsheet and NOT pick up the hidden columns?
I realise this might be nearly impossible or considered useless because no hidden columns would mean either making the copy with blank hidden columns or altering all formulas to suit a sheet which now does not have all the original columns.
When I choose to record a macro, the window to name the macro opens and allows me to name it, but when I close it, I can see it is recording at the bottom of the sheet, but the stop button with the relative/absolute button has disappeared. I can't change relative/absolute. How can I get the button back on the page?
