I have attached my spreadsheet I am working with. I have not been able to get a formula to work with what I am trying to accomplish.
Need to compare Column B to Column A... If there is a match anywhere in Column A, copy the item in that same row of Column C into the Column D
I am looking to see if it possible to get a formula that says something along the lines of: IF E2< E3 or E4 or E5, "eat more fruit". I cannot find any codes that will replace the "or" as i cannot use that.

I did this with a macro but it takes few minutes(3-4).
Now I try to do it with a formula but no idea how. Formula is faster.

I have a workbook with two worksheets
worksheet a holds the following information
column a - employee number, column b - distribution number, column c - account number associated with the distribution number.
worksheet b holds the following information
column a - employee number, column b - check number, column c - distribution number, column d - account number associated with the distribution number
what I want is a statement that will do this:
in worksheet b, take the employee number and distribution number in row a and find the row in worksheet b that is the same, then compare the distribution numbers to see if they match.
I am trying to set up a spreadsheet to track certification expiration dates and things of that nature at my volunteer fire department. At my career job, we use specialty software like Firehouse, but that is way too expensive so I must settle for Excel..or maybe Access.
Basically, I need a formula that will look at todays date and compare it to the date in a given cell and then somehow differentiate thise which are expiring at a given intercal.
For example, if someones EMT was expiring in 6 months it would turn yellow, then at 3 months turn blue, then red at 1 month then black if it expires.
It don't necessarily have to be just like that, just some way to differentiate depending on the how close to expiration it is.
I am trying to compare two fields using the INDEX MATCH formula. One field needs to match exactly and the second field should return the closest match to a date. I have attached an example where I am trying to find the closest production date (column F) for the matching ID that is before the complaint date.

I have a worksheet with property numbers in colum A and first names in column B. Another worksheet has property numbers in A, first names in B, and last names in C (different order, all mixed up)
I want to put a formula in the first worksheet that will compare the property numbers and when it finds a match put the last name from the second worksheet into the first. Does that make any sense? I have tried vlookup but i'm obviously doing something wrong. example below....

another sheet looks similar but has info in the "last" column. the numbers between the two sheets are not in the same order so i need to search by number and put the info from the second sheet into the first.
I know that I an probably asking for too much but I must get the formula some way. OK, I need a formula for this:
lets say I have 3 columns (A,B,C (search criteria). In each Column there is a DIFFERENT number. There is 3 more columns (D,E,F (used to compare).Each column has 3 Different numbers. If 3 numbers match between the two sets of 3 numbers I want Column G to display "CCC". IF 2 numbers match I want G to display "CCH". If 1 number is a match I want G to display "HHC". If none of the numbers match I want G to display "HHH".
I can manually do these but it will take waaaay toooooooooo much time to do. If you can do this for me it would be a great help indeed because I'm trying to do other states. With this formula I can use Automate to do a large quantity of numbers.
I have a spreadsheet with two worksheets (sheet 1 and 2). Sheet 1 has all the current employee data on it e.g. employee number, Forename, Surname, Address, Pay rate, etc. Sheet 2 was last month's employee data in the same format. I want to compare the two worksheets on worksheet 3 and highlight any changes or just put the changes on worksheet 3 (this would be better).
The problem is employees might be on different rows on each worksheet and some employees might not be on one spreadsheet due to staff leaving and starting.
Each staff member has a unique employee number to identify them. So I need a formula that matches the employee number and then looks in the cells in sheet 1 and 2 and if different puts the value in sheet 1 into the cell in sheet 3.

I need excel to check to see if the data I input into column B is an exact match to the data in column A.
If it is an exact match, then column B will remain blank.
If the data in column B is different, I need column B to show the following:

My questions:
1) How does the excel formula need to be written for this to work?
2) Is there a way to set it so that when I do a mass copy to data into column B that the formula will not be overwritten and it will still check to see if the data I copy and pasted into that column matches the data next to it in column A?
Basically I have two sets of data. One will be new each week. I'd like to use the non-changing data as a base to compare new data to. The formula would need to match multiple values, including a 'time between', and then return whether a minimum rate has been met.

I have two ranges of numbers stored as text on two different sheets.
The first one is from product code and the second is from product category.
The problem is both ranges are of different lengths and I have to find out if a product from the right is part of a particular product category. Even if the length is different the first digits are indicative of the belonging of a code. For example 1234 and 12345 are “family”-their first 4 digits match.
Just to give you an example of what is desired:
Category____ Code
2200 ________22002
2323________ 232347
So, the loop should do the following:Compare the first string from the “Category” column to each and every entry on the right, if a match exists (we have no match here for 2200) write “ok” next to it.
Next trim one digit from the right from every string in the “Code” column.
Compare same first string from the “Category” column to each trimmed string from “Code” column (here we should have a match 2200=2200)
Write “ok” next to it
Now the loop goes to the second string from “Category” column and for this one we will have to trim 2 digits from the right of each string in “Code” column to achieve the result (2323=2323) and so on.
I'm trying to compare values in 2 separate columns to see how many times the same value appears in both columns. Ideally I would be able to insert a range function to compare the values in the column "ID 1" against the values in column "ID 2" and return the count of times that a value appears in both columns. For example 2122, 1112 and 1718 appear in both columns and I would like the formula to return a count of 3.

In my actual project I'm comparing 2 columns in the same worksheet. The column are column B with data in cells B2:B10266 against column C with data in cells C2:C18560.
Looking for a formula to compare current year values to previous year values. For example, if the current year has values for the month of January through March (100, 100 and 150), current year value will be 350 and the previous year value will be 975 (i.e. 300+275+400). The aim here is to make the previous year months summation equal to the present (or current) values. As new values are entered for the current year, the previous year's values will have to change to reflect the new month's value entered for the current year.

Starting in cell B4, I would like to count how many weeks of Demand can be covered by the specific Available On Hands in row 3 for that week, put the number of "Weeks Covered" into cell B2, and then fill over to the right in row 2. Right now, the values in row 2 are from my own manual calculations, but I would like a dynamic formula that will sum up the values in row 4 up to (but not greater than) the value in B3, give the count of cells that reached that sum (or even better with decimals to show the percentage covered), which I will copy over into B3:B13. Not sure if that makes sense, or if I can explain in a better way. The yellow cells are what I am trying to create a formula for and am currently stuck.

I am trying to create macro in Workbook 1 and that looks up Workbook 2, searches column A (starts in cell A3) and compares value in Workbook 1, column B (starts in cell B30). If the value doesn't exist in Workbook 1, then create a new row in Workbook 1 and copy (or add) info from column A, B and C from Workbook 2.

Some of the words begin with at least one zero (eg 00101001) when I enter such a word it is considered a number and removes the leading zeros. The comparison then fails. If I call it text or some such, the vlookup fails because, I guess, it is complaining I'm treating a number as text. If I seperate those words begining with a zero from those that don't and create two tables, each table works fine but this will lead to a lot of ranges and make things messy. How do I get the decoding done with just one range?

I have two separate lists, one in Column A and the other in Column B. Both lists are roughly 2,000 rows long. For the most part, the two lists are identical, but not quite.
I'm trying to determine what data is present in Column A that is absent from Column B, and vice versa. That's easy enough to do with COUNTIF (at least that's what I've tried), but to complicate matters, duplicate entries appear in both column A and column B.
For example, in column A, the word "Electric" appears 13 times...but in column B, it only appears 8. I need to know these differences in a quick and easily readable way (remember, the spreadsheet is roughly 2,000 rows).
A is a list of numbers 12345, 23456, 34567 etc all unique, ascending sort
B is a list of types, its either 1 or 11 or 3
C is a list of the same numbers as A but they are not sorted and that cant be changed
D is where I need to insert the type (1, 11, 3) for each number in C
Ideally, it will take A2, find it in column Cxxx, and insert the type from B2 to Dxxx and continue doing it for each row

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have two different tables, 1 table gives the conditions you need for specific stations. Stations is shown vertically (10 to 150), and conditions people must have are shown in the top row. (Alphabet). This data is given and can change alot. If I compare this data, a new table will be created that compares the conditions per station with the people if they have it too. Then it will need to give an answer, 'Yes or 'No''. Yes means he has met all the conditions needed, so has all the competences needed for the station.
I tried to do this with normal formulas, but no success. I can do it by doing like 100 IF's in 1 formula, but that isn't efficient.
Also I have done a formula:
IF(SUM(IF(Competentions!$D$21:$BT$21=Competention!$D10:$BT10,0,1))=0,"x",""),
But that only compares if the person has exact the same competences, if he has more then the needed on 1 location, a NO will be returned. Same with count, that doesn't work either, if he has the same amount of competences needed for example station 10, he is allowed to, but he doesnt have the competences that are needed for that station..
