Macro - Copy Data Based On Info In Cell From Separate Workbook

Jun 4, 2014

I have an invoicing spreadsheet, what I want is to have a main working page and then tabs after separated by vendor, but save myself a bunch of manual work in the future.

I want to be able to work in the main tab and the other tabs automatically update with the new info.

So I want the macro to search the text in the first column and if it finds "AIM Land Services Ltd." then I want it to populate the appropriate tab, in this case "AIM", with all the respective information after it ie: A-O. But I dont want it to select any other vendors/ info.

This is what I have:

Sub MoveData()
For Each cell In Range("A1:A1") ' Where to look for the date
If cell.Value = "AIM Land Services Ltd." Then ' The date
Range("A5:O350").Select ' What is the range to copy
Selection.Copy ' Copy it
Sheets("Invoice_Log").Select ' Select the Sheet it applies to
Range("A5").Select ' Where to paste the data

How To Separate Row Data From One Workbook Into Separate Workbooks Based On Cell Data

Apr 23, 2014

I need to separate row data from one workbook into separate workbooks based on cell data. Currently I filter the data, copy and paste it to a new workbook and save it. It's a tedious process and was hoping to find a way to automate it. I have attached a sample file. In this instance, I would like a separate workbook for the filtered data in Column 1 and then all the row data gets copied to new workbook. So all of Pennsylvania data would get copied to new workbook, then all of the Michigan data gets copied to a new workbook. I have also attached an example of the end result that I need.

Macro That Looks / Copy And Paste Info In New Workbook

Apr 24, 2013

What the Macro has to do is this.

It takes an specific word from a certain number of files that you can choose from an add file window.
Then when you choose those files the macro starts to run every file and look for an specific word, in this case is "ROFO March 2013".

When it finds it, The macro creates a new workbook( You create the name of that workbook y the first place of the macro, when you choose the files that you want to look for that word).

So, When the macro finds the word ROFO March 2013, it copys all the columns that has that name, and keeps looking until the file ends.

And paste all that info in the new file, A consolidate File.

I have change all the names of variables of the macro so you can understand it.

Code:
Sub copy_data(ByVal Origin_File_route As String, ByVal destiny file As String)
Dim Origin_File As String, RsBusq As Range, ROFO As String
Dim Rango As Range, Fila As Long, lastrow as Long
origin_file = Dir(origin_file_route)

Copy Info From Cell Based On Line / Row Number?

Jun 17, 2008

My company has an excel file that has our new customer's information (colum A & B are first & last name;Column C is customer email; Colum D is cutomer phone, ect...)

once that information has been entered we have another excel file that will load all of a customer's information, and then be pasted into a welcome letter into MS Word for their confirmation & emailed to them

The problem I'm running into, Is that I do not know how to populate my nex excel sheet with the info I want only from a specific line.

I would like to enter a line / row number (for example '6') and than have excel go to that file & copy/paste the name, phone, email, company name, ect. into my new excel sheet

I have one that works already, but the previous owner PW protected it & hid his formulas/macros, so I'm in a dead end now...

Copy Multiple Rows From One Book To Another Based On Info In Cell D

Aug 19, 2009

I have a workbook with a single worksheet that has about 2000 rows, columns A, B, C, D, E & F
Cells in colums A, B, C, E & F all have very different information in them, nothing is similar in any of those columns that I can base a criteria on. Cells in column D however will have 1 of about 18 possibilities in them

What I want to do is have another workbook with 18 worksheets, each worksheet named 1 of the 18 possibilities, and somehow magically pull the data from the first workbook and insert it into the correct worksheet in the second workbook, leaving the data in the first workbook intact.

I update the first workbook several times a day, adding and deleting from it so would need to update as it goes, or be able to run the update as and when needed.

My skills are limited to simple formulas inserted into cells and dragging them down!

Macro To Copy Folders To Path Of Open Workbook Based On Cell Values

Aug 3, 2014

I have an Excel sheet that contains a few thousand folder paths in the first column. The first few cells in the column look similar to below.

C:UsersNameDesktopFolder Copy12010360
C:UsersNameDesktopFolder Copy12010361
C:UsersNameDesktopFolder Copy12010362
C:UsersNameDesktopFolder Copy12010363
C:UsersNameDesktopFolder Copy12010364
C:UsersNameDesktopFolder Copy12010365

I am trying to create a macro that will copy any folders that exist in any of the paths listed in the first column. The folders should be copied to the path of the open workbook containing the macro. Below is the macro I have currently, much of which was taken from information I found in this thread [URL]....

VB:

Sub wrapper3()
x = 1
Set fs = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
While Sheets("Air").Cells(x, 1) <> ""
v = InStrRev(Sheets("Air").Cells(x, 1), "")
dest = ActiveWorkbook.Path & Mid(Sheets("Air").Cells(x, 1), v, 99)

[Code]...

This code seems to work fine if all of the folders exist to be copied. My problem is that some do not and it is creating a "Path Not Found" error for which I need a fix. If the folder doesn't exist at the path nothing should be copied and the next path can be evaluated.

Reorganizing Data To Show Info From Two Separate Columns In Third New Column

Feb 5, 2014

I've got a problem with organizing my data. I've performed a study with several participants, each of which does several trials with 8 conditions (1,2,3,4,5,6,7, or 8), with each participant doing a condition more than once. I also have a separate column telling me whether they responded correctly or incorrectly (with a 1 or a 0).

I need to find a way to produce a new column to identify whether they got each condition (of the conditions 1,2,3,4,5,6,7, or 8) correct separately, i.e one column for responses to condition 1, one for condition 2 and so on....

It would also be useful if there was a way that once this is done I could summarize their accuracy of responses to each condition.

I've attached an example of my data. excel problem example.xlsx‎

Thinking through, what I deduced the simplest thing to do would be this: Have a macro that would Highlight all the data except the title row in the active workbookSwitch to a different workbook called "Consolidation"On the next free row, paste the information

They can then just activate another workbook and run the macro again

Copy A Range Of Cells In Another Workbook Opened In A Separate Instance Of Workbook

I m not able to use the standard Excel Paste Special function when I copied a range of cells in another Excel workbook opened in a separate instance of Excel. Instead, Paste Special thinks that I have copied some non-Excel objects and gave me the Paste As options. This is not the case if I open both workbook within the same instance of Excel. Could you share with us if there is a trick to trigger the normal Paste Special options in such situations (without having to invoke Macro procedures)?

Macro VBA For Copy Paste Columns Of Data From Three Tabs Into One Column On Separate Sheet

Nov 18, 2013

I have a workbook with four tabs or four sheets.

Tabs 1, 2 and 3 have a column of data (Column A) on each sheet. They all start from the same cell. Each cell of data are just numbers. The column (an array) of data will not have blanks between.

But, they are not the same number of data. They vary.

Meaning, Tab 1 may have 15 numbers (A1 to A15), Tab 2 may have 20 numbers (A1 to A20) and Tab 3 could have 5 numbers (A1 to A5). Each iteration of the workbook may have different number of data in the A column on these tabs.

Now on Tab 4, I want combine the data from all three tabs into one column (in column A).

So, Tab 4 has a column A with data from Tab 1 copy and pasted to (A1 to A15) as values, then (A16 to A35) have Tab 2 data copy pasted as values and (A36 to A40) have Tab 3 data copy pasted as values.

Basically, the macro on Tab 4 has to count the number of rows on each Tab that are populated with data values and figure out to copy all the data on Column A from each three tabs and paste the data value into the Tab 4 in one column of data (in values).

Hidden Info When Copy A Worksheet From One Workbook To Another?

Aug 8, 2014

I need to create a new excel template for work. I was planning to copy a few worksheets from an old workbook over into the new workbook, mostly just for formatting for some graphs/tables that I would then link to the new workbook. A coworker said I cannot do this as copying from an old workbook will bring in "hidden" data that could some way impact the integrity of the new workbook and that the copied/old worksheet would FOREVER be linked to the new workbook no matter what I do. Is this true? If so, are there things I can do to remove any reliance to the old workbook.

Assign Data To A Separate Cell Based On Value Of Yet Another

Nov 7, 2007

I have a "memo of meeting" excel document used to capture notes during client meetings. In this document there's a cell for "purpose", "agenda", and "notes". The 'consultation type' cell is a drop-down populated by values set in Sheet2. The 'agenda' & 'notes" cells are then populated with information (also stored in Sheet2) based on what drop-down option was chosen in the 'purpose' cell. I'm currently making this happen with basic =IF() statements; however, the problem is that by doing it this way, the =IF() statement must reside in the actual cell which will end up showing the data.

This is undesirable as there may be additional notes, agenda items, etc. that I'll need to add during the meeting and as it's currently setup, I can only have either the pre-populated info OR the ad-hoc notes - not both. It seems a simple fix. Maybe put the =IF() statement in a cell off to the side but have it "assign" the value to 'agenda'/'notes' but that doesn't seem to work.

Vba Select Rows Based On Info In A Column, Then Paste Into New Workbook

Jul 7, 2009

I'm using excel 2003. I would like to select and copy rows of data within a worksheet of a workbook and then paste those rows into a newly created excel workbook. That is the easy part. The complication is that I would like the macro to select the rows based on a particular string value that will be impossible to specify in a fixed way (i.e., it will change from project to project). Let's say the variable that distinguishes the rows is location, so some are from Tokyo, some New York, and some from Paris. Using vba, how can one 'splice' the data into (in this case, three) seperate workbooks based on the string/values of another variable?

I am familiar with auto-filter, but in this case, I really do need to create seperate workbooks, rather than apply calculations to a selection of the data.

Copy Data From One Workbook To Updated Workbook Using Macro

May 1, 2012

I am creating a spreadsheet to provide to a group of about 40 people. The spreadsheet allows each member to track the referrals they receive and give. I need to plan on creating updates for the spreadsheet and want to make it so they can easily transfer their data to the most current version in the future. Here is a breakdown of the workbook:

Worksheets:
Members
Lists
Referrals Given
Referrals Received
Totals
Formulas

I need to copy the data that they have input from the following worksheets:
Referrals Given
Referrals Received

Here is a breakdown of the "Referrals Received" worksheet:
A1:V4 - Data that will not change and includes many named cells
A5:Nxxx - Dynamic Named Range where they input their data
O5:Vxxx - Contains formulas

I need to be able to copy
A5:Vxxxxx
from the old workbook to the new

Some side items to note:
There is VBA in the worksheet of
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
and included in the code is an Unprotect & Protect code to always keep the sheet protected

I figure whatever works for this sheet will work for all the sheets.

Create New Workbook With Separate Sheets From Data In Another Workbook

Jul 16, 2012

I have been tasked with creating a macro which creates a new workbook wherein each sheet contains the information for one site from the active sheet. The active sheet already has the values sorted by the site such that all information needing to be copied from the active sheet into the new workbook is together.

I.E.

ATL
ATL
ATL
ATL
CEN
CEN
JCK
JCK
etc.

There are 8 different sites on the active sheet: ATL, CEN, DAL, HAR, JAS, JCK, VIS, NOV

The macro needs to find the range for all of the data of each site and copy/paste that data into a new workbook such that ATL would have its own sheet, CEN would have its own sheet, and so on. The data ranges from A:R.

So, for example, the macro would find that the last row with ATL in the "B" column is 6095 and would then copy A2:R6095 and insert that data into the new workbook under Sheet 1.

I had some code that I had adapted to select the range for each of them, but the code loops through the entire sheet (which is 44,307 rows long) for each site making it a quite clunky and very slow step in an even longer macro. Since the data is already sorted, I know there must be a way to have the macro stop searching when it reaches data not equal to the data the row before, however, my experience with VBA is limited, and I have been unable to find a solution. Also, the data does not have to be conserved after being sent to the new workbook, if that would speed up the macro.
