Copy Down Formula To Reference To The Right
Mar 25, 2014In DB2 I have = DB1. How can I drag this down and for each row I go down, I want to reference one more cell to the left of DB1, so in DB3, I would have DA1, and so on.

View 2 RepliesI am currently working on a data analysis project (data mining) and need to collect and later analyze statistics for the inputs which control a series of calculations. These statistics are shown in the Statistics 1, Statistics 2 and Statistics 3 cells in the workbook that I attached. The inputs are X,Y; all possible values for these inputs are listed in the N,O columns. Basically I need a macro which would take the values from these two columns and place them pair after pair into the controlling cells (K3, L3), then it would copy cells H2 through L3 (updated stats) to a new sheet after each copy operation - so that I will finally have a list of statistics for all of the input pairs.

I want to copy this formula to range("C4:C2000"), now I want after 43 row ( in cell C47 =(=INDIRECT("V5")) change the V4 to V5
and
cell C90 = (=INDIRECT("V6"))
cell C133 = (=INDIRECT("V7")).......and continue till C2000,,, i mean after 43 rows it change the V4 ot v5, v6, v7, v8, v9.......
I have my inventory based in excel. Each brand has it's own file. Each file has several worksheets with all of the items, prices, etc. on them. When I get a shipment, I fill out the next worksheet in line. This way- I have a record of my inventory and a worksheet for each shipment. It has been working very well. The first worksheet in each file is a summary page that shows me the grand totals, shipping charge, etc. from each filled in worksheet page. the problem is I have to build that summary page for each worksheet I fill in.
I would like a way to tell excel to give the same information as I requested in the previous row, but the next worksheet down.
I would like to copy only the IF Formula without copying the cell reference. Say for example I have a formula shown below:
BEFORE
A1=IF('PW216'!G7>=0.9999,0.999,'PW216'!G7)
AFTER
A2=IF('PW216'!AC7>=0.9999,0.999,'PW216'!AC7)
My formula is =IF('PW216'!G7>=0.9999,0.999,'PW216'!G7) is in Red Font color. I want to copy only the formula but when I paste it, it will as well copy the cell reference.
Currently I have a worksheet which is organized to have two pages on it. I will try to explain, i.e. imagine one page of the worksheet in the hypothetical range of A1:D26, then another page in the range E27:K50. So it is staggered on the same sheet. Is there an easy way to copy the range of E27:K50 onto another worksheet.
Aside from the regular copy and paste, I am having problems because there are formulas in the 2nd range (E27:K50) which loose their references once copied.
i.e the formula SUM(A1:A10) I would like to be SUM('Master List'!A1:A10) on the new sheet. Is there an easier way then going through all the formulas and adding the master list part.
I have the following code which Clears the content of a cell. The next thing I want to have happen is to have another cell equal a formula but make that formula relative to its place. The formula is the following =IF(ISERROR(VLOOKUP(F56,Routes_All,2,0)),0,VLOOKUP(F56,Routes_All,2,0))
I am not sure how to paste it where the row changes depending on where it is pasted. Here is the code that does not work...
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click()
Worksheets("2008 Log").Select
Dim cRow
cRow = ActiveCell.Row '
Cells(cRow, Range("Column_Type_Of_Ride").Column).ClearContents
Cells(cRow, Range("column_duration").Column).value = "=IF(ISERROR(VLOOKUP(F56,Routes_All,2,0)),0,VLOOKUP(F56,Routes_All,2,0))"
End Sub
As you can see, no matter where I paste it it will always refer to row "F". How can I have it refer to row "cRow"?
I want to copy a formula from Workbook A to Workbook B and have the formula configured with Workbook B's spreadsheet cells, not Workbook A's.

I want to be able to copy the cell and paste it into another cell and have the formula update to reference the new cell. Currently the validation is for cell G2 and references F2. I want to be able to copy G2 and paste it in G3-G6 having the formula update so it refrences F3-F6.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an excel workbook that has many spreadsheets (each one sheet has a client name)I have another excel workbook that has these client names on one sheet (on a list) and next to every name I have a number (i.e total turnover of the year).
In the first workbook (where every client has his sheet (tab named after the client) I want to have a cell that equals to the sum of some cells on the other workbook, that refer to the specific client
(it looks like this ='[comissions NF 10-14.xls]comissions 14(auto)'!$J$81+'[comissions NF 10-14.xls]comissions 14(auto)'!$J$197+'[comissions NF 10-14.xls]comissions 14(auto)'!$J$313+'[comissions NF 10-14.xls]comissions 14(auto)'!$J$429)
I want this sum to be added to every sheet of this workbook. each sheet refers to a client, so $J$81, $J$197 etc must be changed for the correct cell that refers to the name of the client. The tab names are alphabetical and so s the list.
Is there any way to do it, without re-entering the formula to each one?
I am creating a spreadsheet which creates a bulk of data from a front sheet.
The question is:
Is there a way to automatically copy a fixed formula for 100 cells using one fixed cell reference such as $A$1 and then automatically after 100 cells replace $A$1 with $A$2, after another 100 with $A$3 and so on?
Explanation with Example:
For example, Sheet1 contains the words "Green Tree" in Cell A1 and Sheet2 will then place "Green Tree" into 100 different sentences such as:
Plant a Green Tree
Grow a Green Tree today
This would be created with the formula ="Grow a "&'Sheet1'!$A$1& " today"
After 100 different variations using the formula I want to change that formula to reference cell A2 on Sheet1.
I know if I place "Red Tree" in Cell A2 and use the formula ="Grow a "&'Sheet1'!$A$2& " today" I can do this manually using find and replace for the 100 cells, but I want to do this for 100 different variations of Green Tree to create a 10,000 different sentences so I'd need to find and replace 100 times!
Wanted to know if there is a macro that can copy the selection of cells and paste it as a formula with original cell refernce.
For Example :
Copy Selection Cells - Say Cells A1 B1 & C1
and Paste It as formula In Cell D1 as =A1+B1+C1
I'm trying to perform a copy & paste operation by hand which to me should be easy in theory. I have a worksheet whose formulas have been corrupted. I have a backup of this sheet- I'd like to copy the backup sheet into the workbook. The problem is that the formulas, which reference other worksheets within the workbook, are copied over as links to the backup workbook instead of the new workbook they are being copied too. This seems simple, but how do I copy the worksheet and the references without having to go through all of the references by hand to only apply to the local book.

I am getting the following message and I do not understand what it is about.
Microsoft Office Excel cannot calculate a formula. Cell references in the formula refer to the formula's result, creating a circular reference. Try one of the following
A 'Days Attended' cell (N8) and a 'Days Absent' cell (O8). N8 needs to count the number of "Present" values there are on another worksheet. The other worksheet has dates across the top and names down the side.
When i use
=COUNTIF("Attendance!C9:Z9", "Present"),
and the next date comes along the formula changes to
=COUNTIF("Attendance!D9:AA9", "Present")
ie. the reference moves a column across - the new date's absent or present is not counted. Using =COUNTIF(INDIRECT("Attendance!C9:Z9"), "Present"). is no good because when i add a new name i need the row reference to move down as a row is inserted. ie. both person's formulas count the same row. So, my question: I need the columns to stay the same - C:Z (leyway for future dates) and the rows to change as i insert or delete people from the system.
I have lets say 12 months of data. I have formulas that reference the latest 6 months. When I insert a new column to input a new month, how can I make the formulas include the new months without manually updating them.
EXAMPLE:
12 months of data exist in cells B3:M3 going from B3(oldest) to M3(newest). Formulas reference latest 6 months of data in cells H3:M3. When a new month hits, I insert a column after column M.I would like the formulas to now reference cells I3:N3 which is now the newest 6 months.
=INDEX(INDIRECT('Quote Detail IP'!$C$10&'Quote Detail IP'!$C$5&"!$A:$DC"),MATCH(B1,INDEX(INDIRECT('Quote Detail IP'!$C$10&'Quote Detail IP'!$C$5&"!$A:$DC"),,1),0),MATCH(A1,INDEX(INDIRECT('Quote Detail IP'!$C$10&'Quote Detail IP'!$C$5&"!$A:$DC"),1,),0))
Where
A1= "M16" and B2= "185%RPIT630"
'Quote Detail IP'!$C$10&'Quote Detail IP'!$C$5=QxTermAge63
Can some on tell me why this is raising a Circular Reference!!
How do I change a formula cell reference based on another cell's reference? I'm building a schedule that looks to a task's trigger and adds days based on that relationship. All entries in column "A" will be text and all cells in "B" will be the simple formula "=A2" or "=A3". Due date is calculated by adding the value in "C" to the preceding date in column "D". In the spreadsheet below, the trigger for "Budget set" is "Specs written" with 3 days added to the previous due date.
________A________________B_____________C_________D
1 Task___________Trigger_____________Days_____Due Date
2 Design begins__Proj OK______________10____10-Jan
3 Specs written__Design begins (A2)____5____15-Jan (D2+C3)
4 Budget set_____Specs written (A3)____3____18-Jan (D3+C4)
If the trigger for A4, "Budget set", changed from A3 to A2, is there a way that the formula that determines the due date in D4 could read the trigger cell reference in B4 so that the value in the corresponding row in column "C" is added in the date column?
my excel file have 5 sheets (may be more than 4) ,sheet 1,2,3,4... and the sheet name (all serch data) .
in sheet 1 ,sheet 2, sheet3,sheet4..... incell a3 is the number for reference . in sheet (all sech data ). i create the macro button and the range (n) of this sheet ,when i key the reference number to the sheet1-sheet4 .
if ,it is the same number to the sheet 1-sheet 4. it will copy the data of that sheets paste to the sheet (all sech data ). if it found the same reference number.
i attach with the file to see ,how can i do for macro copy code?
How do you define the syntax to copy a cell reference from one worksheet to a different cell reference in another worksheet.
This did not work for me:
Worksheets("Sheet1").Activate
Range("A1").Copy Worksheets("Sheet2").Range("C5")
How do I copy an absolute cell reference from say a1 to a2 -100 so that the row reference increments with each row. Without the absolute cell reference '$' it works Ok. But with it every cell is the same as a1?

I want to be able to put an 'X' in any one of the 12 column rows, (category) and have a function that will copy/pastes the information from the main column (column #1, row=any) to the second sheet. I have tried True-False function, argument function, Vlook etc., I still cannot get it to work.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI've been tasked with redoing a revenue report at work, and in my head I've conjured up what could potentially be a huge time saving way of doing things in the future, although have searched help files and looked around online and can't find the formula/macro (if it exists) to enable me to do this.
The problem is this:
Sheet 1 of the workbook is a large input sheet. Every row contained in that sheet will, in column A, be titled 'red', 'yellow' or 'green'. Columns B onwards contain other data which (at the moment) is irrelevant to the problem.
Now what I want excel to do after I've put the raw data into the input sheet (sheet 1), is to read the text in column A for each row, then automatically copy ALL data in that row over to the next empty row on another worksheet.
ie Sheet 2 will have all rows that have 'Red' in column A on the input sheet, Sheet 3 will have all those titled 'Yellow' and Sheet 4 will have all those titled 'Red'.
I know I can use a filter on the input sheet to just show the data I want, but each colour coded row will contain different data to another, and if there is a formula/macro setup i can use to do the above, then I can set the subsequent worksheets up to hide the superflous columns from the input sheet.
I am copying the entire contents of a worksheet onto a blank worksheet multiple times. The problem occurs with the charts which need updating once copied to reference the new worksheet name. I have tried stepping through each chart and then each SeriesCollection but it seems to fall over part way through.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm preparing an accounting model for my office use. How to solve the copying of formula to all other cells.
The detail is here:
Sheet 1:
1) I've entered a number 1000 in L2
Sheet 2:
1) I've entered a values in columns D,E,F,G
2) Calculations :
at G2 : the formula is =D2*Sheet1!L2
The problem is when I Copy the formula in G2 through G3, G4, G5........... it changes to =D3*Sheet1!L3, =D4*ValidData!L4, =D5*ValidData!L5 and so on... but it should be =D3*Sheet1!L2, =D4*ValidData!L2, =D5*ValidData!L2, so that the L2 value shall be constant for calculations in all cells.
I have a 2 columns (A and B) next to each other that is using a Sum formula and other multiplying formulas. They reference 3 cells in a different column (C) to come up up with the answer for A and B. Therefore A1 and B1 reference C1 C2 and C3 (and possibly if want to use in future column D with D1 D2 D3).
Then in A2 and B2 I want to reference from C4, C5, C6
Then in A3 and A4 I want to reference from C7, C78, C9 etc.... and so on...
Instead of retyping formulas for each row in A and B, I want to copy down, but I getting the wrong answer when I do that.
I am therefore assuming I typing the formula wrong. How do I type it correctly so the cell reference changes automatically when I pull down columns A and B?
Formula for Column A: =SUM($G28:$G30)
Forumla for Column B: =($G28*$H28+$G29*$H29+$G30*$H30)/$B17
Therefore next row should be referenced from G31 to G33 and H31 to H33
But when I copy it only adjusts it for 1 reference down.
I got a very technical sheet which needs your experience to work.
open the attached file below to see the workbook.
It has 3 different sheets. "RESULT", "INPUT" and "SWITCH"
On "RESULT" Cell (O11) is where the person would put a Reference.
This reference is then checked on the "INPUT" sheet column A.
From the first cell it appears in Column A, until the last cell it appears in Column A should be the Row Range (Blanks included).
But I want that range (Column A to G) to be copied to "Switch" sheet. Pasted in Cell A1 downwards.
In the "SWITCH" sheet I have already given all the GREEN Cell formated areas a name - INFO.
I want all the data in INFO to be inserted into "RESULT" sheet between row 18 and 19.
I have colour coded most of the areas for you.. And added a button from which the Macro / VBA should run when clicked.
I have Book1 (reference workbook) and Book2 (where i copy values from Book1)
Now I have macro to fetch the datas and paste the values in the format below.
But I can only doing this for one reference workbooks. But i need to add more reference workbooks in a file and paste to Book2. (etc: Book1, Book3, Book4, ....... to Book2)
Book2 looks like:
A1 B1 C1 D1
Name Adress Age Sex
Ozan xxxxxx 27 M
Here' s the Code.
Option Explicit
Sub TransferData()
Dim wkb As Workbook, wks As Worksheet, LastRow As Long
Dim FilePath As String, FileName As String
Dim ws As Worksheet, blnOpened As Boolean
'Change these variables as desired...
[Code] ........
i am writing a custom copy/paste routine which will paste data from a selection if the cell being pasted to is not locked.
The user will select the text for coping and then launch the routine.
The routine will query for destination cell and then process the paste.
This is my routine so far:
Sub testCopy()
Dim c As Range
Dim MyRange As Range
Dim Dest As Range
Set MyRange = Selection
Set Dest = Application.InputBox(prompt:="Select a cell", _
Title:="Paste Destination", Type:=8)
For Each c In MyRange
If Dest.Locked = False Then
Dest.Value = c.Value
End If
'dest = ?
Next c
End Sub
What I need to know is how to increment the dest reference so it is in the same 'relative' position from the initial dest that c (from the selection) is in or is there a better way to do this?
I've got the following formula that I want to tweak. As you can see from the formula, Henning is the name of the tab on the other workbook. If I were to add a column on the spreadsheet that has this formula, and put "Henning" in it, is there a way to use that cell in the formula so that it would still open the Henning tab in the other workbook? I'm trying to avoid having to modify each and every formula.
