I am a dummy in VBA so I really am not familiar at all if the solution is really one of VBA. I don't even know how to start programming VBA at all in Excel.
I have several rows which lists different currencies - USD, GBP, EURO, JPY etc.,
A1 usd 5000
A2 GBP 7000
A3 USD 3400
A4 EUR 12000
A5 JPY 89000
A6 EUR 1000
At the bottom I want to show the total of each currency separtely.
Is it practical to attempt to iterate over all cells in Application.Cells when using Excel 2007? I am truely amazed by the number of cells available but slighty unsure of the practicality of a spreadsheet which attempts to use of the 17,179,869,184 cells in each worksheet!

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a long list (+1000 entries) of numbers (that actually represent dates) in cells one under neath another.I need to get them into date form so i can arrange them from earliest to latest.
Kind of looks like the following:
Cell1 - 1122005 (which i supposed to represent 1/12/2005)
Cell2 - 10192005 (.......................................10/19/2005)
Cell3 - 9282005 (.........................................9/28/2005)
Right now Excel just sees a bunch of numbers and does not know what to do with them.
I have a worksheet that was originally saved as a xls (2003) file. I have resaved it as a xlsx (2007) file, but the max rows are still at 65,536. I am trying to combine over 100,000 records into one sheet. The only way I have been able to create a excel document with more than 65,536 rows is to export my records from an Access file.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhat I am trying to do is, (I'll generally explain it and will go in details when needed) I have four tabs, but right now I will focus on two tabs. The first tab is called DATA_INPUT, will be the raw data inputted by users, approximately 45,000 to 50,000 rows. The second tab is called DATA_SET has data that are already set from previous reconciliation, this tab has approximately 10,000 rows.
my goal is to do a search from data_input starting with row 3 all the way to the last row, and search to see if any of these data are in the DATA_SET tab. Vlookup will not work if any of you are thinking about this, b/c the datas are in phrase and the data_set data are in chunks of that phrase (i'll explain in detail if needed).
So far I've created a loop code that works and gets me the result I want, but the problem with the data's being so huge, the loop will be looping apprx 500 million times, this cause the program to run very very low. For example to run 1000 data from DATA_INPUT it takes apprx 30 minutes or more and sometimes b/c this is so huge it crashes. i'll already did the calculation of how many loop it has to run through to finish, it's about 500 million loops (50000*8000 = 400,000,000 plus looping through the phrase to find the word match, approx 500 million loops).
SO my question is how can I make my program run faster since it need to loop so many times, or if you have a better suggestion in solving this problem, let me know....
I've accidentally created over 1 million rows across several sheets which has sent my file size over 35mb.
I desperately need to delete these and cannot find any way of doing so.
They were created through macros copying columns and pasting them elsewhere, although I'm not sure how they decided that 4-800 rows of data was worth a million rows.
Can anyone offer a solution that doesn't entail making a new sheet and rewriting all the forumula's in it?
I am trying to insert a macro to send myself an email when ever someone uses my spreadsheet (I'll embed the code in an existing macro).
The reason for this is to not only gauge who/how many people are using it but also make sure no one is using it externally (I suspect people are passing it on to people outside the company which they are not supposed to). I need it to be covert so I don't tip them off and they don't start circumventing this check.
I have found the below which works well, but I wanted to see if there could be some additional checks to better conceal the sending of an email.
Can I also somehow check the Outlook status to make sure it is working "online" so the email doesn't sit in their Outbox if they are not connected to the network/LAN?

I would like to convert the numeric value in a cell to a coded alpha
the numbers 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,and 0 would be coded as B,L,A,C,K,H,O,R,S,E respectively.
For example, if cell A1, held the value of 5750, the formula in cell A2 would result in KLOE.
The figures in Col A would be no smaller than 3 digits nor larger than 5 digits.
I would like to convert a number to minutes. For example .48 or 48 as a formula result to 48 minutes. The reason for doing this is I will add the result to a time.
Forumula result = 48 -> convert to {48 minutes + 12:00 = 12:48}
I've tried using just formating but no luck.
I have a comma delimited CSV file that holds about 2 millions rows of data (a lot I know but it's the only format I can work with unfortunately). One of the rows has some numbers in it that have lots of decimal places (like 3.908651901). I need to round that entire column - all 2 million rows - to whole integers.
The problem is that when I open it in excel it says something like "only 1 million rows shown". After more investigation I have found out that excel cannot handle more than 1 millions rows at a time.
My question is this: If I select the whole column and round the numbers to integers will that apply to the entire 2 millions rows? Or only the 1 million showing in excel?
Are there any other programs available that can handle 2-2.5 million rows and change the column to whole integers?

I typically have to import/delimit the files when brining them into excel. However, when I try this I get the message not all data imported. I would like to be able to split the records in the csv file to multiple tabs in the excel woorkbook when doing the import/delimit but do not know how to accomplish this. The delimit of the data varies each time due to the nature of the data so doing a macro is more trouble to create each time. Currently I am having to open the csv file in notepad and split it up into multiple files then import each new file seperately.

I have different rates for different customers......then I have 3 rates for each of those customer. So If I charge £45p/h to one customer (normal rate) it then becomes 67.50p/h (1.5) and £90.00p/h (2).....depending on the time of call out. You will see above that one call out could incorperate two different rates, depending on arrival and departure time etc.
1) How do I get a value (travel and site hours) converted into £
2) How do I set a specific value for each rate customer, and rate? Can I have a rate saved so i can then select that rate relevant to that customer when inputting?
I need to display the currency symbols for all European & Asia Pacific countries. The only ones available that I could find in excel help are €, ¥, £. Does anyone know if there are more available? This seems limiting.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am working on a sheet that logs sales enquiries and quotations. The quotations may be made in either Dollars, Euros or Pounds. However, I want the 'reporting' column to be Pounds. I would appreciate any advice on the simplest way of achieving this.
Imagine column A is dollars, column B is Euros and column C is pounds. Most of the time the quotations are done in pounds and the other two columns will be blank. Also, there will only ever be one figure quoted per row. Would it be easier to create a fourth column (D) to consolidate the three separate figures together? We are using fixed exchange rates for the year, so to convert to pounds we will multiply any dollar quotations by 0.5 and any euro quotations will be multiplied by 0.69.
I have a very frustrating problem with my business plan i am writing in Excel. every so often it crashes and when I open it again all the £ signs have turned to $ signs and i have to go through and painstakingly change them all. This also happens even if I just close the file carefully and open it up again. I have tried looking in preferences to see if there is a default setting but can't seem to work it out. can anyone help me with this tiresome issue?

So in column A i have a list of currencies (THB, GBP, AUD, USD, the user clicks the appropriate one) and in column B i have the figure (23.50). I want a formula that can convert all these in GBP so that i can report the order totals in one currency in column C. =(IF A1="THB", B1/50, "") can i adapt this to include all variables? I will add a table with the currency conversion rates.
