Can a drop down box be made to only show each item 1 time?
In the sample file attached, I want to do a lookup with the employee id in the master sheet and find the multiple results in the "open_text" sheet. From there, I want to display the open text results in one row per employee on the master sheet. If there are multiple comments, then the results will be displayed in separate cells to the right of each other (filling comment1 through comment5 if needed).
My main goal at the end of this is to be able to do a mail merge out of the master file. This is why I want the results in one row per employee.
I need a formula in Column E to find the results for Column E or subtract A2 from C3, C3 from D3, A4 from C3, B5 from D5 and A6 from D6 .

I have created a color coded calendar on a spreadsheet for work that shows when a book will be published depending on when it comes into our warehouse, this is on sheet one.
I would like on sheet two to have some kind of filter or statement that would eliminate the need to look at the calendar, I.E. the user would just have to type in the date or select the date from a list and excel would show you what day the book would publish on using the data from sheet one.
I can imagine that this is hard to picture so i have attached the file as well.
I currently have a drop down menu in one of my worksheets, in which I have several different text values entered. What I would like to do is link each of those text values to a numerical value, which would be entered in to another cell. So if I select "Option A" from my drop down list, and Option A is equal to 200, I want "200" to show up in another cell. If I select "Option B" from my drop down list, and Option B is equal to 400, I want "400 to show up in that same other cell.

I have a Workbook with a dropdownlist on it. The dropdown list has some names on it each name will be a refference to another sheet, ie when name Collins Jim is clicked on the drop down list the Jim Collins sheet will appear. I have attached a sample sheet to show you waht i mean.

I am trying to do, is make a drop down list show the picture above it. I have tried to change everything, and I am sure I am just a hair away from getting it right. I got the spreadsheet to where it will pull up the "Picture #" in the appropriate box, and even had it delete/hide all my pictures (I say delete/hide because I couldn't get them back after I removed the coding I was working on).
Another nice function I would like would be a button, around cell B74, to erase all the picks and reset the sheet for the next season... it would have to have a prompt to verify the user was absolutely sure they wanted to do that though! But I don't know where to begin on that button issue. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Im currently creating a spreadsheet for my work, with common problems and solutions to one of our websites.
When the spreadsheet is opened, the user will click a button depending on what sort of problem he/she is having. In the example attached, if the user clicks on "make payments" a form will appear. This will have a list of problems.
if the user choses problem 1 from the drop down list, then I would like the list of solutions to problem 1(from the MPData sheet) to show in the box below. The same goes for problem 2, problem 3 etc.
If I have a dropdown with
A (value 1)
B (value 2)
C (value 3)
D (value 4)
and a person selects one of those letters in the dropdown in column 1, I would like column 2 to show the number value associated with it

I have a spreadsheet (>10,000 rows) with data referring to a grid cell map. Each grid cell on the map has an ID and associated data. About 10% of the grid cells have duplicate records, but with different data. I need to produce a spreadsheet with a single record for each grid cell that contains the data from each of the duplicate grid cells. Some occurrences may be >2. Example below.

I have created a drop down list but notice that the button (the arrow in the square) does not show up unless I click on the cell. Is there a way to show the button at all times so the user knows a drop down list is available?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have set up a simple form in excel, whereby people use drop down menus to select the appropriate information (as all data inputted needs to be entered in exactly the same way to allow sorting, counting etc) so I thought drop downs were best. The trouble is the data is carried through to my excel database (on another worksheet) were it is shown in numeric values dependant on how far down the drop down list the select item appears (ie "Fareham" is third on the list, so shows in the database as "3").
I'd very much like my database to be easier to read and actually show Fareham etc, rather than be populated with lots of numbers. I initially tried using IF function (ie =IF(C3=3,"Fareham") but unfortunately two of my drop down lists are too long for this (with 25 and 33 entries respectively).

I want two formulas one to count the how many times the following pattern of data have been repeated in the range:
1- Exceed after Pass
2- Exceed before pass
I have simplified this spreadsheet from the original to get to the core of what I want it to do. There are three tabs: 1) tab:"query fields" is an area that places data that is retrieved from the web, in this case it retrieves tables from yahoo finance given a ticker input. The ticker input cell is currently on the "score card" tab. 2) tab:"score card" in this tab you can input a ticker symbol in the indicated box and it will populate the "query fields" with corresponding data. This tab also extracts certain fields from the retrieved tables and performs a pass/fail test then produces a score %
This is great if I'm doing one symbol at a time, however I eventually would like to 'loop' this process such that a score field is populated for a list of tickers, hence tab 3) "list". Ideally I'd create a control button to initiate the web retrieval process and it would go down my list, retrieve the table data, perform the pass/fail tests, then populate the corresponding score % in the cell next to the ticker symbols. I know I can keep running separate web queries for specific symbols, but I guess my secondary goal is to have this be as dynamic as possible, since the ticker list will change and the list could be sizable at times.

Rows 1 to 12 of the attached .jpg file shows the format that I receive from a University. However, in order to check enrolments, etc., I would prefer it to be in the format as shown on rows 15 to 19, that is, one complete student record per row.
As you can see, not all students are studying the same number of subjects and the subject mix is also different.
I am finding it very difficult to extract the Project reference data for each employee, I have attached sample working file for reference.

I have this info on my excel spreadsheet plus 500 more lines. What I am looking for is if a name repeats then the info in column 2, 3, 5 and 6 for that name needs to be brought to new row. Example would be if I used the name karen on the next row then I would like her info from the desired cells to auto populate so I don't have to keep entering them and so on with new and old names. I have been trying to get this done for months know and have had no luck. My sheet already has over 500 lines of names and it would be nice if I could use the data from the past as well as the future to populate these cells.
I have two columns of data, Tables 1 and 2 in the attached file, and I would like to have in Table 3 a list containing each item (AAAA, BBBB etc) in columns A and B.
I could paste the data from columns A and C into column E and then sort in alphabetical order, before deleting the duplicates, but there must be a cleverer way of achieving this result. It would be great if the solution was in some way dynamic because I need to do this more than once for ranges of different sizes.
I have 2 different formulas that I need changed in a similar way.
The first formula is for cell AV11:
=SUM(BI11,BP11,BW11,CD11,CK11,CR11,CY11,DF11,DM11,DT11,EA11)+10
Every cell starts off blank.
What I need is for cell AV11 to always start off blank until data is entered into one of the other cells. The problem is that since the sum always needs to be +10 only when data is entered in the other cells, I don't know how to keep 10 from showing in cell AV11 when no data is typed in the other cells.
The other formula is for cell CO39:
=(CU8)+3
I pretty much need the same thing. If no data is entered in cell CU8, then I do not want cell CO39 to show the 3.
I have a column of data held in column B.
I am required to show the following.
If there is data in the cell then it is to be left. If there is no data in the cell then I would like to show the value 0.
I have tried using a circular reference, using the formula =IF(ISBLANK(B1),0,B1) and other similar formulas but they dont work as the formula overwrites the data in it.
do I need a macro?, or conditional formatting?

I am attaching a sample excel sheet showing what I need to do.In the first tab, I have a list that includes duplicate rows (first column only). I want to remove those duplicate rows but I don't want to lose the data in the following columns which can be unique or duplicates as well.

Keep in mind that the actual source file I am working with could have up to 50000 row, and the expected results could be around 2000 rows. So nothing can be done manually.
