i have a button to switch to other sheet in the workbook. I want during the swichting also copy a cell b1 from sheet "view" to sheet "view 2008" but it gives me a error by the second "Range("B1").Select" command here is my code;

I have been creating new sheets, importing data, pulling some values from the data then deleting the respective sheet. I am using:
ActiveWorkbook.Sheets.Add after:=Sheets(Sheets.Count)
The sheet is actually being added to the workbook, seemingly before the error. I resume the code, and a new sheet is placed in the workbook and it errors again. The Debugger stops and highlights on the code above.The sheet count number was 10895 at the error, just as an indicator of how many times the simulation has performed successfully. I am hoping this is something I can fix without having to start over...
Am ai missing something? Are these 2 codes the same for 2 different sheets?
It works on the frst one, but throws an error on the 2nd one.

I have a large model, and it sometimes starts having very strange errors. The workbook sometimes becomes corrupted, giving a:
"Microsoft Excel has encounted a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the incovenience"

error when I try to close the spreadsheet. One of the sheets can have a lot of data (up to 10,000 x 150) and the error will also occur if I try and delete the sheet, or clear the entire sheet. Also, the model runs vba code, which at one point deletes the data sheet and adds a new sheet. However, sometimes the sheets.add functionality stop working, i.e. when the code runs the sheets.add line, nothing happens. I don't know if the errors are related.
My VB code creates a number of sheets when processing and all works well until I have to create more then 65 sheets and then it stops running with an error 1004. The VB code creates each new work sheet via vb "copy" command.
I assume there is nothing magical about this 65 number - its just the point where excel runs out of memory, maybe?
I found a reference to this problem and a suggestion that I have the code periodically save the work sheet but this seems like a kludge?
I have a userforms which transfers data to protected sheets.The userforms worked until i protected each sheet.Can there be any code which i add to the current userform code so it can still transfer the data to protected sheets
The other issue also is now that the sheets are protected the Outlining also does not work.Can this also be changed so the Outlining works on protected sheets

There is a Microsoft VBA bug currently outstanding where if your VBA replicates a sheet too many times, it throws a run-time error. I read MS' statement that, to get around this problem, what one can do is to save and close the file, and re-open the file once in a while.
Doing this certainly helped, where it used to crash after copying only a few times and now it goes on until 40 ~ 50 times. But it still crashes. Has anybody been able to get around this problem? Currently I am having VBA save, close and re-open the file every 7 or 8 times or so...

I have a macro which creates and names worksheets. I am making a button which also deletes the latest of these created worksheets, but doesn't delete other sheets. I am getting the error: Run-time error '424': Object Required. Here is my code for deleting the sheet:

I'm trying to set up a macro that will capture all the unique values in a column, and then create a new sheet for each value. What I've got so far technically works, but it's also adding an extraneous sheet (with a generic sheet name, not the specified name I'm giving the sheets) and also giving me "Run-time error '1004': Application-defined or object-defined error" when it runs.

Then discovered they won't work in a protected worksheet. Is there a way around this situation, other than turning protection off? I am currently working with a hidden sheetname "hide_template" which contains formula linking to another sheetname "rawdata" of same workbook.
In this "rawdata", the contents is updated from time to time.
The problem is when I open this workbook and update the entries in "rawdata", the formulas/results in "hide_template" is not updated and invalid (ie. #N/A, #VALUE..)

I have a spreadsheet which has 3 separate external queries running from worksheet 'A'. My user enters a couple of dates in another worksheet 'B' to supply the date parameters for the query and a macro runs to refresh all of the queries and performs a few calculations.This works fine. The trouble is I don't want the user to be able to view all the data on sheet 'A' only the summary on B. My macro ends up on sheet B but whilst the query is refreshing the raw data is displayed to the user on sheet 'A'. When I hide the sheet 'A' i get a run time error '1004' Select method of worksheet class failed.

Trying to create a new workbook from another open workbook, then copying all the sheets that aren't called "Summary" to that new open workbook and then saving it. I get a subscript error on this line:

see attached example. I am trying to write an error detection routine that iterates through worksheets that have numeric values for names (ignore text names or alphanumeric). Macro checks range on each numeric worksheet E3:E33 and is supposed to report back on the SummarySheet if any value other than 1 or 0 is found in range E3:E33 on any numeric-name worksheet. Problem is that it just reports EVERY worksheet as having an error when clearly most don't (none do I think in the attached example).
Try changing some of ranges E3:E33 to values other than 1 or 0, it still reports all sheets. Why the macro does not evaluate the range E3:E33 properly and just reports every worksheet as having an error?
See the attached sheet. I am trying to add together two figs which are linked to calculations which have formula built in to stop error messages when there is a 0 / 0 = #value type error. However when these two cells are added, if the cells are blank I get an error message. And if only one cell has a value, I get "" with my existing formula. what I need to do to get a result of 7 if for example cell A4 = "" + B4 =7. View 5 Replies View RelatedOK, so I have a userform with some text boxes that I have specially formatted to accept only date values in the form of mm/dd/yy. By default they are blank. I have a check in one of my codes that looks like this

Where DateBox is this specially formatted TextBox and checkdate is a future date being checked against.So if DateBox has a value in it AND that value is greater than the date being checked against the returend string is Neoprene, otherwise it is blank.
Well the problem I have is when the first condition returns FALSE, i.e. when DateBox is empty, the DateValue half still gets evaluated and returns a type missmatch error or something like that because DateValue("") returns an error. I have line of code 8 times, one for Neoprene, squeegee, etc. So the name of the text boxes are each unique and I am using M1, M2, M3, etc.
For other reasons, use of "On Error Resume Next" doesn't work for this situation because it causes a result opposite to what I want to happen.
the if stattement works perfectly and does exactly what i want except when it comes to the else part. if there is no error the statements are run perfectly but if there is an error (in this case the error is generated when a match cannot be found in the spreadsheet) the else statement doesnt kick in and post the msgbox.
the code just crashes. and returns an error 1004 on the line i have highlighted in yellow

It looks like Excel is getting hung up on the "SearchFormat:=" portion of the code.
So the issue I am having is that I have a worksheet with two long rows of value. If the user enters the incorrect value, the program gives a error case of 1004. If and when this error occurs I want the program to send a MessageBox to the user then end the program. The problem that I am running into is that whenever I write On Error Goto... It Goes to the label whenever any runtime error occurs. My belief is that there has to be a way to only check for a runtime error on a single line of code rather than the entire sub.

It works fine on the first string not found. When it searches for the next non-existent string, it fails with:

I am looking for a more efficient way to write a macro (a sample from the macro is below). This is just the first part of the macro. I need to repeat these same steps (seen for row 5 below) for rows 5 to 50. My script worked until I hit row 35 and then I got the "compile error.." message. There must be a way to use "loop" to write this more efficiently, no?
