I have two tables excel: Table1 and Table2, as shown in the attachment below. I wish that: in Table 2 to be filled in each cell how many hours (eg. 0.166 hours) worked every train. There is an Excel function to look in Table 1, reading time intervals and automatically fill them in each cell of Table 2?
I work in a computer lab and we have to keep track of how many people sign in (using excel 2010), and how long they were here.
I'm looking for a way to count how many entries were made per hour for every hour someone was signed in.
For example someone signs in at 9:22 am and leaves at 3:34 pm.They were here from 9-10, 10-11, 11-12 etc.. and its getting very tiresome to go through and manually enter a "1" for each individual hour in each cell under the hour.
Is there a way I can feed the in and out times into a spreadsheet and have it automatically count how many people were in the lab each hour?
I am not too sure what this is called but I am using Excel 2010 and need particular document that I use repeatedly. Basically, if a particular cell in the document does not contain a phrase then I want Excel to automatically change the text in that cell to bold and red and 2 other cells in Excel to bold and red as well. For more information, the cell is 19–20 and K–O and the phrase in the cell is "No Inconsistency".
So if "No Inconsistency" is not found in that cell then it automatically changes the text in that cell to bold and red, and it also changes two other cells that are found in that document to bold and red as well. The coordinates of those two other cells are 19 with H–J, and the other one is 17 with H.
I would like to perform a sum of randomly generated numbers between 0 and 6, but I want the number of independent random numbers to be dependent on another cell. I have =SUM(RANDBETWEEN(0,6) and then I get stuck. Is there a way to perform the RANDBETWEEN(0,6) a number of times stated in another cell? In this case that value is 67 but it will vary from around 5 to 150. I think there is a way to do this with macros, but I am not versed in visual basic. I am using Excel 2003.
Attached is a sample schedule form. I recived the data on the "Working" sheet in a Word file that is emailed monthly. THis shows a full month of arrival/Departure and passenger counts by Time of Day. I need to develop
1. a driver schedule that would indicate the time the driver needed to be at the station and how many passengers to collect. There could be both and arrival and a departure trip at the same time so this would also need to be considered. The sample data shows when passengers arrive and when they are expected to leave. Some will leave the day they arrive some the next day. Ideally I would like to be able to plan the number of trips to the station per day and at what times, whether it was an Arrival, Departure or a combo trip delivering departing passengers and collecting Arriving passengers on the same trip.
2. A housekeeping schedule also needs to be created showing how many rooms need to be available for passengers and at what times. It would also need to indicate if the passenger arrives and departs on the same day or if they stay over.
I have created a daily schedule which has a number of factory variables taken into consideration which determine the date and time a particular product should, barring any mechanical problems, come off the machine. (see attached spreadsheet).
The date at the top will be editable by me only so that when I update the production quantities, the “date/time off” column automatically re-adjusts to the remaining quantities.
The formulas are a little long winded, but I have left them that way whilst I try and develop it. I should be able to figure out how to condense them later.
My problem is that the “date/time off” on the right works excellent, but over a 24 hr period.
Ordinarily, we work a 12 hour day (6am to 6pm) with overlapping shifts to cover breaks, and 20 mins warm up at the start of the day for the machine, thus maximising a 12 hour day.
Of course if demand exceeds the allotted time we put on overtime.
Is it possible to specify that normal days are only 12 hours so that if a product exceeds 6pm, it flows into the next day with the balance starting at 6:20am?
And, if the production for the week exceeds the time could I stipulate particular days which we deem are suitable for overtime? Ie, we decide Wednesday is a 14 hour day and not 12.
I had toyed with the idea of creating a 365 day table/calendar, on another worksheet which would have its individual allocated hours in an adjacent column and somehow link them to the date/time off, perhaps by way of a VLOOKUP, but I have been chasing my tail trying to figure out how to implement it.
I have a time table which some hours are 3 hours time period. I want to distribute to new table hour by hour this kind of hours, or hour to same hour period.
I get data in the form of an .xls worksheet that includes a date column and an "hour" column. The hour column contains 1-2 digits representing the hour of the day (0-23). I need to be able to combine the date and time fields for graphing, searching, and sorting the data. No matter what I try, I can't get excel to recognize the hour as the time of day (e.g. 2 = 2:00am, 16 = 4:00PM, etc). The data sets tend to be large and I get new data in the form of new .xls files often, so a script to convert the data is probably not a good solution.
I need to write a macro which will do this operation for each ID:
(bottles/20)-crates = x
and if "x" is not 0 then write down the value of "x".
There are two points I would like to point out: - One ID may contain 3 or more rows (see 20168880) - The macro will work with hundreds IDs so the algorithm should be fast (but it is not necessary)
Is it possible to copy sheet and rename the copied sheet in one operation .... have a hidden worksheet that needs to be copied and given a variable name dependent on the work sheets that are already present.
I have an issue with the Data - Text to Columns operation.
I paste some data into a sheet that is comma delimeted. I have a macro that runs the Data - Text to Columns operation and then moves the data to another sheet.(The data I need to paste is coming from a non-Excel application.)
I then copy a second set of data to another sheet and when I paste it, it automatically does the Data - Text to Columns operation but I do not want it to. I have seen this several times before and when I am manually manipulating the data it isn't a problem. When I use macros to manipulate the data, I don't get the desired results because my macro includes this operation.
I have done a little testing and this issue doesn't seem to always present itself. How can I paste the data without Excel trying to out-think me and just leave the data in the comma delimeted format it is in when I paste? What causes this? Its seems like Excel is seeing similar data and "assuming" I want to perform the same operation I just performed.
I keep getting an error in this code while trying to write the results of a query to a sheet in the current workbook. The error i get is 'operation is not allowed when the object is closed'... since i didnt close the recordset before trying to write the results to the worksheet, im at a loss to explain why im erroring...
Public Sub fillWorksheetWithData(dataSheet As Worksheet, conStr As String, sqlStr As String) 'clear datasheet LastRow = dataSheet.Range("A65536").End(xlUp).Row If (LastRow < 2) Then LastRow = 2 End If dataSheet.Range("A2:A" & LastRow).EntireRow.ClearContents
I have a workbook that I would like the same operation on all sheets except the first sheet in the book every time I update it (which is once a week).
I get data (currency format) for all of my employees on a weekly basis. Unfortunately this data is shown as a negative number and I need to invert these values. (So I use the formula below)... but I have to do this manually for about 35 sheets and I figure I could automate this somehow with a macro. Here's what I do usually and what I would like the macro to do automatically:
I want to insert a column after column G. I would like to enter the following formula into H2:
I am running a script that populates about 70 or so workbooks based on information from the database. Naturally this script is quite slow but what seems to take the most time is opening and closing workbooks. Is there a way to "hide" the workbook opening/closing operation on the screen? I have tried using the
Application. ScreenUpdating = False
this sped the code up but you still see the workbooks opening on the screen.
I have a form to round to nearest quarter but if it is less than 1 hour I need it to round to a total of 1. Can this be combined in one formula.
I also need my time to be configured so that if the start time is a PM number then end time AM it does not figure right. is there a way to remove the AM/PM from time. I have already tried all the formats from number, time, & custom.
I have a list of FLIGHT departure times that are listed in MIL TIME, however, there is no : in the format. Its just 4 or 3 digit numbers. I need to convert these to time in 12-hour clock. If I go to FORMAT/CELL/TIME and select 1:30pm it simply makes the time ZERO!
I have 2 columns and 10 rows (A1:B10). In column A are certain text values. How do I write a macro to go through the table and preform an operation in the corresponding cell in column B depending on the value in cell A? for example, if A3 = "Complete", overwrite the formula in B3 with the value (paste value)?
It seems so basic that I hate to ask, but I cannot figure out why this doesn't work. The subroutine is in ThisWorkbook. I keep getting: "Compile Error, Invalid use of Property."
I have an excel spreadsheet like the one attached. My problem is column A has a ton of blank cells. Wht I'm trying to do in Column A is write a formula that fills in the blank cells with the number of the last previous filled in cell. For example the first number is .25 I want to fill in the blank spaces below it with .25 all the way until it reaches a different number which in this case is .219.
Once it reaches .219 I want it then to fill in the blank spaces below it with .219 until it reaches a different number. So basically I'm looking for a formula to fill this in on its own instead of having to drag the cells over and over again manually.
In the excel spreadsheet attached I have in Column D the end result I wish to accomplish.
I have to update an online database weekly from data I have in an Excel spreadsheet. At the moment, I am copying and pasting cell by cell into the online form. I have included a picture of what the form looks like. (The form is only available via password protection.)
Each line in my spreadsheet contains the information for one form. I am trying to write code that would fill this form out with the information in each row, submit and then loop to the next row until it reaches an empty cell.
My fill down menu does not pop up once I click and drag down over several cells. I have checked my options, under advanced, and it is checked .
I can use the right click and fill down and THAT menu pops up, but I will want the regular left click menu to pop up as I am accustomed to using it. I am thinking it's a keyboard shortcut that I may have inadvertently clicked to disable it.
My requirement is something like this. I have a workbook where end-users can fill data and send it to our system. They might enter any rows of data, it can be just 1 or even 100. I want to force users to fill in values in few mandatory fields : columns in B,C,D,E. Now I need a VBA code that should throw a message when it finds that the value in cells B,C,D,E are blank.
Since I am not sure how many rows of data the user can fill, I dont know how to code in VBA the above scenario. I cant give a range as the total rows of input data is not available and static value.
I have a code i want to fill down a column, but have the row change to the corresponding row it's on
So for example, the code is '= code128(A7)' on row 7. How to fill it down, but they ALL say (A7) on row 8, i need to change it to '(A8)' and next '(A9)' and so on.
