I have a list of product codes. Some of the cells in this list are blank, and it is assumed that the blank row is the same product code as the one above it. Is there a formula I could use to have the cells fill themselves in?
Example
DO-566 DO-566 <Blank Cell> DG-233 <Blank Cell> <Blank Cell> .......... I've tried the following, but it only yeilded each of the cells having the same values. =if(isblank(A2),A1,A2). With this, I allowed circular references, but it still yeilds that same result stated above.
I have a spreadsheet where coloumn A contains either a blank cell, or a "X". There may be anywhere from 1 - 10,000+ "x"'s, spaced in col. a, but they are not spaced evenly, for example A1 may have an "X" A3,A4, A25, A28, etc... I need to find a way to merge the cells from the X to the row above the next "X" (so the X, and all blank spaces below it).
I need to create a macro that searches for blanks in column G, from row 2 to the last row of the worksheet, and then inserts the value 1 in these blank cells.
I have been copy pasting different solutions from this site and amended them a bit, but my excel skill are not sufficient for this.
I have some great code that HalfAce provided a while back that I think will fit a project I am working on, but I can't see how to modify it to fit this one. I need to have it look at a location and provider and find the most "common" date. Then for that criteria fill in the lines with no dates with that "common" date. Here is the code that I need to modify for this
Sub FillInTheBlanks() Dim LstRw As Long, _ DescRng As Range, _ AccntRng As Range, _ Desc As Range, _ Accnt As Range
LstRw = Cells(Rows.Count, "B").End(xlUp).Row Set AccntRng = Range(Cells(2, "B"), Cells(LstRw, "B")) Set DescRng = Range(Cells(2, "I"), Cells(LstRw, "I"))
I am in need of a solution (probably VBA) that can fill a range of cells with a formula IF they are blank. Ideally that range is a named range I can define in Excel. If that is too hard, then a hard coded column I hand-edit the script for is tolerable. Also, ideally, this script auto-executes whenever data changes on the sheet.
You formula I will populate is: =IF(ISNA((VLOOKUP(B33,$A$32:$L$43,12,FALSE))+1),"",(VLOOKUP(B33,$A$32:$L$43,12,FALSE))+1) ..but a simpler formula can be stubbed in.
NOte that it does have relative references, so the script needs to adhere to normal EXCEL conventions of enumerating cell references.
If the script points to a refernce cell that contains the formula that is uber. Maybe it should do copy and paste instead of a string replacement in order to leverage EXCEL's referencing?
I'm stuck on this, and this would be VERY useful for many of my sheets to be able to point to a refernce cell containing a formula to fill in.
I am trying to use Pivot Tables for my data set, the only trouble is my data set is as follows:
Name Group A bbbc cdde fggg
B asde ccdd fffff
I have over 10,000 lines and wanted to know if I have to individually click the name and drag it down or is there a macro or formula to take the previous cell and fill down? This is the end result I would want to get all the previous cells to A to be filled in? Name Group A bbbc A cdde A fggg
I know how to do this as an if function, but do not know how to do that as part of a VB module. If No Value in Column R Then Insert "Phrase" Otherwise Do Nothing
I would like to find the blanks within a column. Using the available cell values above and below compute a sort of linear function then, using that linear function fill in the blanks in between. So the values are linearly increasing or decreasing (whatever the case maybe) to the next available nonblank cell value. spreadsheet attached.
I have a word document that is a rental agreement. Im trying to make an easy to use user form where a person can input the information and it populates in the correct areas and saves as a pdf. How I could put the word document into excel and have a userform populate designated areas.
I need a listbox or combobox in an excel form whos list is created from 2 ranges. for example first name is range a2:a500 second name is rangne b2:b500. the list box should list both coloums in a single list and return the row number. better still if it does not list blank ranges. i have never used a list or combo box before so please explain in terms a simplton can undrstand
If input is entered into column C (range C2:C100), then row cells for columns D, E ,F, H or I must NOT be blank upon save. Could be that one or more of these row cells are left blank by mistake.
An error msg pops up upon attempting to save, stops the save and colors each cell yellow that needs info entered into.
I have a spread sheet and I want to conditionally format rows to be a certain color. That part I'm fine with. But I don't want them to be a set color. I have a "key" of different colored cells that I want to be the fill colors of the formatting. The ultimate goal is that for example the key looked like this
red blue yellow green
then the rows I had would be formatted as red, blue, yellow, and green. But if you were to go into the key and change the first cell from red to purple, then the rows would become formatted as purple, blue, yellow, and green. Obviously I can copy formating by hand using the format painter, but I want it to update automatically.
Here's a problem I'd like to be able to solve in VBA:
Retrieve the current cell color (let's say A1 = 'green')
Format A1's cell colors (using the VBA equivalent of the 'Format Cells' / 'Fill' / 'Fill Effects' / '2 color Gradient' feature) so that the background cell color (color 2) is set to 'green' with color 1 being set to 'white' with a shading style of "From Center"
I need to clear a value in a cell(what ever may be the value) based on a condition in another cell and set it to blank. Ex: If cell A is blank and then i need make cell B also blank, if cell A has some value then i should not disturb B I need to do this using formula. I have tried the below, but no use, IF(AA1="",REPLACE(Y1,1,10,""))
I have a workbook in which there is a sheet containing a table.
Excel 2002ABC123Specific Gravity6 Volt ValuesSOC40.0000.000Dead 51.1345.97010%61.1485.99020%71.1626.02030%81.1766.06040%91.1906.10050%101.1976.12055% 111.2046.14060%121.2116.16065%131.2186.18070%141.2256.20075%151.2336.23080%161.2416.26085% 171.2496.31290%181.2576.32095%191.2656.350100%SOC Chart
From another sheet I query this table using the LOOKUP function to obtain values from column C such as 25% 60% and so on. A typical query formula looks like this:
=LOOKUP(B2,'SOC Chart'!B4:'SOC Chart'!C19)
It would be nice if the fill color came along with the value.
I am looking to use a VBA routine so when a Date is added in a cell and a number is in the cell below on running the routine I would like the Date to be filled by serial number to the cells to the right. So if D3 has a date in the cell say 03 July 2014 and E3 has the number 10 then to the right of D3 it fills the Date's 10 Cells to the right 03 July 2014 through to 13 July 2014.
In column b the next available row would be 16 ( the first 30/10/2012 row ), if I use the counta system i would get 7, and the xldown / xlup system would need to depend on where I start, which is what I need to determine
When I veiw this all I get is an immensely huge list of HMTL.
I have a simple pivot table that is types by state. I want to know how many types are in each state. In the attached image the answer for Alaska is 5, for Arizona 5, for Arkansas 1, etc. How do I get Excel to tell me that for each state?
I'm using Excel 2010. I have PowerPivot installed but really don't know how to use it yet.
I have created a comparison sheet and compares my old one from last week to the new one I create for this week. It populates cells with the differences and shows me the data from the new sheet. But since my they are so massive A5:AZ20,000 so you can imagine how many blanks there are.I want to create an auto summary or something from the non blanks.
Column A has each properties Unique Identifier And the rest is various info for the property. I would like it to return my unique ID and then the columns with new data that has showed up from the comparison some are text and some are numbers.
I have a pivot table in sheet1 and references in sheet2 like
Code: ='Sheet1'!A1 and so on to copy the whole thing to make it the source data for a bubble chart.
Now, I want to convert the table in sheet2 into a list via Ctrl+L to be able to sort by names with a dropdown menu. Unfortunately, I have to copy all rows from 1 to 1000 to account for possible increases in the pivot table size. This results in blanks in the list and when I want to sort it, I have 990 blanks before the first data rows show up. Not very neat
How can I get the dropdown list to not include blank cells in the list reguardless if the sort filter is used or not.
Sheet 1 (STATS) is the dropdownlist Cell B12 Sheet 2 (Orders) is the data, I cant convert to tables because the cells are active and storted Column B2: is the data named.
I'm working on a workbook for tracking debt. It has 15 sheets. Instructions, Charts (for showing debt change over time), "Invisible" (this is where my chart data is, I plan to hide it), and 12 month sheets. On the Invisible sheet, for example, I have my data set up. I'm pulling the data from other sheets. In the screenshot, I'm using =Month12!P48 as the formula to pull my data from the other sheets. But, the user hasn't entered data yet for month 12, so the line chart drops to zero there. I want it to just stop and do nothing, until there is data in that cell. (I would prefer to use a line chart vs a scatter chart for this, but I have the same problem in both)
