Excel 2010 :: Fill Down Menu Gone?

Apr 10, 2013

My fill down menu does not pop up once I click and drag down over several cells. I have checked my options, under advanced, and it is checked .

I can use the right click and fill down and THAT menu pops up, but I will want the regular left click menu to pop up as I am accustomed to using it. I am thinking it's a keyboard shortcut that I may have inadvertently clicked to disable it.

Excel 2010 :: Right Click Formatting Context Menu?

Jun 26, 2014

In Excel 2010 onwards (probably 2007 as well) there are two right click context menus that pop up on a cells.

The "Cell" command bar and also a smaller formatting bar.

What is this bar called and if you remove it how do you get it back when you have removed all the standard bars.

VB:
Application.Commandbars("Cell").Reset

The above doesn't seem to get back the formatting bar. I did managed to get it back but through luck rather than judgement. Just through looping through every commadbar and printing it to the immediate window.

I've added the name of the context menu to each commadbar but the formatting one does not get a name put at the bottom of it. I've looked on this site and it doesn't seem to say anything about this new menu.

Excel 2010 :: Assign Macro To Value In Validation Dropdown Menu?

Feb 28, 2013

I have a validation drop down menu with the 12 months in it on Sheet 1. User picks the current month from the drop down list. I have 12 macros in the workbook, one for each month. Based on what month the user selects from the drop down, I would like to run a specific macro. The macro hides specific columns on sheet 2 of the workbook.

for example...user picks May from drop down which triggers macro MAY to run. If user picks Jun next month, macro JUN will run.

fyi...I'm using Excel 2010.

Excel 2010 :: Dropdown Data Validation Menu Doesn't Work When Opened On Different Computer

Aug 19, 2013

Using Excel 2010, I set up a simple workbook with a spreadsheet on one page and the ranges for data validation on another. I successfully linked the fields in the "Category" and "Tender" columns with the data on the second sheet, making nice drop down menus. Everything works fine on my computer. However, when we open the workbook on a different station, the drop down menus disappear. If you highlight any of the "Category" or "Tender" fields, the little drop down prompt is missing; they behave like regular, un-formatted fields. It appears that the data validation became un-linked.

We tried opening versions with certain fields locked (Mainly the Total, Breakdown, and Summary areas, but the fields with data validation were still editable), and also completely unlocked documents. Every time, the drop down lists were lost when opened on different stations.

I've attached the completely unlocked version : 00_FLEX TRAVEL EXPENSE REPORT_v3.xlsx‎

Forget to check a box or something? This seems way harder for me to figure out that it should be!

Excel 2010 :: VBA To Set Fill Effect In A Cell

Jan 5, 2012

Here's a problem I'd like to be able to solve in VBA:

Retrieve the current cell color (let's say A1 = 'green')

Format A1's cell colors (using the VBA equivalent of the 'Format Cells' / 'Fill' / 'Fill Effects' / '2 color Gradient' feature) so that the background cell color (color 2) is set to 'green' with color 1 being set to 'white' with a shading style of "From Center"

I'm using Excel 2010.

Excel 2010 :: Fill Formula Down With Double Click

Dec 10, 2012

We just upgraded our machines to Excel 2010 and now I'm having an issue with copying forumlas down. In Excel 2007 (and 03) if you double clicked in the bottom right corner of a cell, Excel would autofill your formula (or data set) down until the last row of data in your range. Have tried all the settings in 2010 and can't get it to work. All I'm able to do is do a manual copy/paste or highlight all the cells and select fill down.

Excel 2010 :: Color Fill And Font Reset Macro Routine?

Aug 12, 2012

In Excel 2010, you can color a cell with a fill color and a font color.

It can be done manually via one of 3 methods that I know of (aside from a macro or a routine):

-From the ribbon button (underneath the font size and increase and decrease font size toolbar buttons)

-By formatting the cell (right clicking on a cell),

-Clicking on the ribbon's font section (giving you the same 6 category format cell box as right clicking on a cell)

What I need is a routine that resets the Fill Color and Font Color toolbar buttons to "No Fill" and "Automatic" if I run it inside a macro or create a command button on a worksheet.

Automatically Fill Data Depending On Choice From Drop-down Menu

Dec 28, 2007

I have three lists in the first sheet 'Food', 'Quantity', 'Points Value'
Each food (i.e. tuna, pasta, anchovies) has a quantity (i.e. 40g) and a points value (i.e. '50'). The first list ('Food') has been copied as a drop down list in the second sheet. When selecting a food, I would like the cells 'quantity' and 'points value' to pre-fill - taking the data from the first sheet.

i.e. if say Anchovies has the quantity value '30g' and Points Value '2' on the first sheet, then in the second sheet if anchovies was selected from the drop-down menu, these values would add themselves. how to do this? I have attached a sample file shwoing what I want to do.

Excel 2013 :: Custom Menu From Add-in VBA Not Working?

Feb 16, 2014

I created an add-in with custom VBA and forms, which also stores user preferences in worksheets in the addin. When the add-in loads, it creates a custom menu on the Add-Ins ribbon that allows the user to run the main macro, or to assign a shortcut key of their choosing. It also allows them to enter registration information.

In Excel 2013, the code is all accessible since the add-in still loads, but it doesn't add the custom menu allowing users to interact with the macros. I'm told this is due to the switch to SDI.

It seems that adding Workbook_Open code to a normal file allows the custom menu to be created, but adding the same code to an add-in file does not work.

Excel 2007 :: Menu Bar At The Bottom Of Worksheet

Dec 31, 2012

I am using Excel 2007 on Windows Vista Business 32 bit. I have several workbooks. Each one contains 33 worksheets. 31 of the worksheets are for each day of the month, the other two are for yearly totals and revision history. Recently, a menu bar has appeared at the bottom of my worksheet. At the left is an icon that states that no macros are being recorded, click here to start recording. The center of the bar is blank, but placing the mouse over the bar brings up a customization menu.

At the right side of the bar are three icons dealing with page layout. As I scroll down the worksheet entering data for the day, the cursor goes below the bar and the screen does not move up as it used to do. Also, by using the arrows keys to scroll down, I do not see the bar containing the worksheet names. Luckily, I have a macro that allows me to save the current days worksheet and move to the next one, otherwise I would not be able to do that. When I open a previous month, the bar is there also, so it must be a flag that I can't find or don't know about. Is there a way to get things back to normal?

Menu Bar/Navigation :: Tool That Creates A Menu Bar Or Code?

Oct 20, 2009

I have a workbook with multiple sheets. Is there a tool that creates a menu bar or code that I can add that would support navigation?

My goal is to have something with approximately 4 options (buttons?). They would link to 4 different sheets that serve as indexes within the workbook.

I know I can add a control like a button to a given sheet that would take the user to given sheet when clicked, but can I make the button 'float' above all the sheets, or add to a menu bar, or something? I just don't want to have to add the button to every sheet in the workbook.

I am looking for something simple/easy, and am not looking for anybody to do the work. I just have no idea on how to approach the problem.

How To Create Excel Add-in With Custom Dropdown Menu For Other Users

Feb 12, 2013

I would like my custom menu to stay on the users ribbon bar no matter what workbook they have open. The only time the custom menu should not appear is if the user removes the add-in.

Chart Menu Bar Won't Change To Data Menu Bar

Apr 26, 2007

my worksheet menu bar is displaying the ' Chart' menu no matter what I do. Not only do I have no charts in the workbook, (verified this by: )

For Each ws In Worksheets

ws.Select
MsgBox ActiveSheet.ChartObjects.Count

Next ws

but adding worksheets, selecting various parts of a worksheet, creating a chart and deleting it, and everything else I've tried has no effect.

One interesting thing - the first chart I added (to test if it would 'unstick' itself upon deletion of the new chart) was named 'Chart 2', implying there was a chart1 that existed previously.... although I am fairly certain I never added a chart to this workbook at any point.

Also, the menu bar is working fine in other workbooks, and changes to chart and back to data like normal.

Excel 2003 :: Lost Menu / Toolbars And Scroll Bars In All Workbooks

Nov 18, 2011

I was working on an Excel 2003 workbook with 3 worksheets. The first sheet is the 'Menu' sheet on which I placed buttons to take me to the other two sheets and back. I wanted to hide the Excel menus, toolbars, scrollbars, etc. on the 'Menu' sheet so that no user can alter that 'Menu' sheet. The 'hiding' code was not meant to affect the other two sheets.

The code worked fine. However, when I closed the workbook and tried to open a NEW workbook so that I could do some other work, I realised that the new workbook and its accompanying sheets had the menus, toolbars, scroll bars, etc. hidden. I closed the workbook and tried opening a new workbook. It was the same experience.

I called up the file with the code, deleted all the codes attached to that file, and re-saved the file. It did not solve the problem. And when I tried many more new workbooks and got the same problem, I deleted my entire Office 2003 installation and re-installed Office 2003. It still did not solve the problem.
