Formulas To Occupy All Rows. Good Or Bad?

Jul 2, 2008

Cell A1 can have only 0 or 1. Cell B1 can have any numeric value. Cell C1 takes the value of B1 if A1 is 1, otherwise it is 0. So, C1's formula can be either "=A1*B1" or "=If(A1=0,0,B1)". Lets say this formula is continued down to the 65000th row. My question is which formula is faster? The first one or the second one?

Copying Formulas Across Workbooks Without File / Book Referencing?

Aug 13, 2012

How to copy a formula (16 columns) from a workbook to another, without referencing the source workbook.

Some people are using tricks such as replacing the equal sign "=" for another character such as "^" then using replace all to put the equal sign back again... but this is too much trouble.

Move All Worksheets From Book B Behind All Sheets In Book A?

Jul 18, 2014

I made the following code to merge 2 workbooks together.

The code is to be executed when the user has Workbook A opened. (All sheets in workbook KPISWD are supposed to be moved after all worksheets in workbook KPICustomers).

I keep getting a debug error on the code that is supposed to do the actual move and loop until it is finished with all of the sheets in Workbook B.

Code:
Dim KPICustomers, KPISWD As String
KPICustomers = ActiveWorkbook.Name

Workbooks.Open Filename:= _
"W:FacturatieKPI per periode SWD.xls"

KPISWD = ActiveWorkbook.Name

Call Macro In Book Two From Book One

Aug 29, 2007

i have done a search on this topic and found many similar answers to many similar questions. All specify using Application.Run "workbookname.xls!macroname".

In my code, the filename has an assigned value as the master code goes out to many secondary files - the user selects the particular one they want at the start of the macro. The variable assigned is called "UpdateKAMsFile".

how do i get the macro called KAMsRandomColour to run in the workbook designated by UpdateKAMsFile?

Macro To Highlight Data Inside Other Data Or Move From Book To Book

Jul 16, 2014

so to start off im not able to attach things due to security reasons, what i need is either 1 of 2 macros. if its possible, both are related. one possible is as follows: i need it to go through a certain column (say I for example) and look at the information in it, this information can vary from peoples names along with dates and other stuff, i want it to look through these and if anything has a date today and prior i need the cell to be highlighted. problem is sometimes it might have 2 dates, or no dates. it should have todays date, their name, other information, and future date of something. but not everyone does, this is the macro i dont think that can exists.

2nd macro possibility the other macro uses the first sheet, AFTER been highlighted, normally by hand, and takes it to another workbook and puts in in certain spots. so the first sheet has names of everyone in column K. what i need is it to look at column I and if its highlighted take entire row to other book, and put into sheet under the person name in their tab. the second book has a tab for each person (at this time 18 tabs) which can fluxuate, and each tab is the persons first and last name, without spaces. since when i put sums on main page it didnt want to work with the spaces i had to omit them. again im not sure this is possible.

Using Macro To Find Email Address In Address Book Of Outlook

May 22, 2014

I am struggling to find a macro which can look at a name in column 'BT' and search it in the address book of Outlook to then place the email address of that person in column 'ED'

There are 35,000+ people in the address book and there may be over 5 email addresses for one name, so is there any way a message can appear for the user to select which email address is correct if there is more than 1 contact for that name?

Macro To Go To A Hidden Worksheet. Good/Bad Idea?

Feb 22, 2010

I have an excel document displaying graphs that i would like to link to from a menu page (via a number of buttons). The problem is that i have about 12 of these graph sheets (along with 8 other sheets) and i'd rather not have them cluttering up the worksheet tabs list at the bottom of the screen.

Does anyone have any suggestions about how to handle this? Is a macro to open a hidden sheet and then close it once it is navigated away from a reasonable option? Or does Excel protocol suggest that they should remain visible, despite their cluttering..

Good Way To Reset Variable Each Loop To Empty?

Apr 15, 2012

I'm using a variable to loop down a column of data. Each time it loops the variable may or may not perform an operation - it will if there is something in the cell but won't if the cell is empty. It writes the answer of the operation to an ajoining cell, before looping again.

The issue is that if the row cell is empty, what's written to the ajoining cell is the pre-existing value of the variable, because its value hasn't changed.

how best to 'empty' the variable each loop to ensure either that the correct value or nothing at all is written to the ajoining cell?

Copy From One Book To Another Tab On Another Book

Aug 20, 2009

I would like to know if there is a way to copy a spreadsheet and paste it into a new tab on another spreadsheet. We currently download 2 lots of spreadsheets from SAP and would like to create another spreadsheet to act as a 'central' preadsheet. What I would like to happen is that the data from the 2 downloaded spreadsheets will be automatically pasted into 2 new tabs on the central spreadsheet, then run some formatting macros (which I can do fine).

Aggregate Number Of Good And Bad Results Per User On Different Sheet

Jul 4, 2014

I have a database file where users name can be located in 2 neighbor columns. Against each user name (in next 2 cells on the right) there is a evaluation (good or bad). That database will be growing and new additions will be added each month. That means one user can appear several times on a different row with different evaluation.

In the same file I have a separate sheet where I need after running a macros to have aggregated list of users (in one column) and against each user I would like to see how many how many good and bad score he have. It will be good if users are sorted in alphabetical order.

I am providing an attachment with example file.

Good, Average, Fair, Poor: Automatically Use One Of The Numbers That I Have Set And Add It To Total

Jul 20, 2006

In creating a chart that calculates home prices I need to be able to just enter "Good", "Fixer", "Remodeled", etc...and have that automatically use one of the numbers that I have set and add it to my total. I have created a box with variables for "Good", "Fixer", "Remodeled", etc...How do I make it so I can put any of those variables into the condition of the house row and make it add the dollar amount specified into the totals box? This is the very simple code that I am using to find the totals so far: =SUM(C5:J5)

Here's what I need:

Also, the plug in values in the first picture WILL CHANGE and I don't want to have to change the formula. So I need something to point to those cells.

I have a very large inventory spreadsheet (30,000+ lines) where finished goods are listed on one line and the raw materials (parts) that make up that finished good are listed below. After the last raw material for a finished good is listed, the next finished good is on the next line (and so on). First, I need to sort the lines to eliminate certain common raw materials. Next I need to take the lowest raw material inventory level and have that as the default inventory level for the finished good.

Find How Many Formulas You Are Using

Find And Replace In Formulas

Jul 19, 2009

I have various formulas (such as: =(D3-$E$3)/$E$3 )
which continues for each row (IE next row 3 is replaced with 4 etc)

I have made som errors when I made the formulas and therefore I have the following questions:

1. Is it possible to find and replace all E's with another letter (F in my case). I haven't been able to resolve this, when it has to be done inside formulas?
The optimal would be if I could set 'Display formulas' under tools, and find and replace in the formulas displayed.

2. Is there a smart way of swapping D3 with E3 for all formulas? (So the result will be: =($E$3-D3)/$E$3 and etc for all formulas)

Combining Offset And Find Formulas

May 13, 2013

On Sheet 2 I am looking for a formula to find Dog1 in a cell on a different sheet and then to equal a cell 2 columns to the right of where ever it found Dog1. I cannot make it so that it simply equals a certain cell all of the time. It has to be able to move in sheet 1. For example sometimes Dog1 will be on row 5 and sometimes it will be on row 7. So the equation I am looking for needs to be able to work no matter what row it is on. I have tried a couple VLOOKUP equations but they are not working because like I said, Dog1 is not the only text in that cell.

Find Formulas Ending With Plus Or Minus X

Jul 11, 2007

I have many regularly used workbooks with financial data in them. Many times the financial data needs to be adjusted due to rounding issues. To do this I add a +1 or -1 or sometimes it is in decimal form +/- .1 Also the number "1" is not always (but almost always) used. There are some circumstances where I may add + 2 or +6 or any small number to the end of a formula.

My problem is that when I use the file again after making these changes, I am wanting to remove the "adjustments" I have made to the formulas. Sometimes a green triangle will appear in my cell telling me the formula does not match that of other near-by cells, and that is good, but it is not consistent enough to find them all, or even most of them.

What I am wanting is a macro I can run that will identify any cell with these "adjustments" I have added to them and I will then go in and delete the +/- 1 or whatever the number is. I can easily do a Find "+1" for the entire workbook, it is the range of possible numbers that is preventing me from doing a simple ctrl + f.

Find Formulas With Numeric Literals

Is there a function within Excel, that allows you to search for any relevant cells that have a hardcoded amount within a formula, ie. adding, subtracting, dividing or multiplying a harcoded number. eg. cell B2 + cell B3 + 5 and then identifying that cell because it has a +5 (however, being able to identify any hardcoded number anywhere from -9,999,999,999 to 9,999,999,999)

Book Using Too Much Memory?

Dec 23, 2013

I have a large amount of data on NBA teams and players that is extracted from external web pages. In order to have the data shown on separate sheets to do comparisons I have to use many array formulas and from what I have read that takes up a large amount of memory. I'm now at the point where I'm receiving a message that says "Excel cannot complete this task with available resources" when I open the workbook.

Is there any plausible way that I can resolve this situation? I have thought about converting the lookup formulas from arrays (index/match) to vlookups and hlookups.

I'm not as advanced with using Excel as most of you, and I realize I may be at a point to where I will need to use different software to analyze my data, but I would prefer to stick with Excel as it would be difficult to start from scratch and learn how to use a different program.
