Formatting - Format A Column Or Range In A Spreadsheet

Is there a way to format a column or range in a spreadsheet that would prevent other formats from being pasted from another spreadsheet?

Obscure question I know...i.e. column A should always be the same font, size, color, border and text format. I want to prevent the user from copying junk from another spreadsheet & pasting all into column A; similar to paste special > values.

I have a range A1:A20. Each cell in this range contains a number between 1 and 100. I'd like to be able to format this range so that the top 3 or largest 3 numbers appear in red.

I am working with the Conditional Formatting, which is fine for one cell. Here is what I am trying to do: IF cell in $A1 = 1 then bold $B2:$M2 and apply solid line border to top of cell ranges. I have tried conditional formatting but it only formats the cells in column A. And I can't seem to find a BOLD statement for the cell formulas.

Conditional Formatting - Use Info From 2 Columns To Format 3rd Column

conditional formatting in Excel. I have two columns with pertinent information. I need to know the following and format accordingly:

1. Is the number in column A positive or negative?
2. Is the number in column B less than 0.05 or 0.10?

I would then like Column C to just be highlighted a certain color depending on the combination... there are 5 possible combinations and I would like the cells to be formatted so that:

1. Positive and less than 0.05 - Bright yellow
2. Positive and less than 0.10 - Pale yellow
3. Negative and less than 0.05 - Bright green
4. Negative and less than 0.10 - Pale green
5. This "combo" just means the criteria wasn't meant... which is possible b/c sometimes Column A may have text instead of a number of b/c the number in column B is not less than 0.10. If either of these is true, I want the cell to remain blank.

I want to format 3 columns in excel depending on certain value from another column.
By example: I have the columns A B C completed with some text. On the column D it will be the numbers 0 or 1. If the number is 0 the background color from A,B,C columns shall be Green, if the number is 1 the color shall be red.

I have tried in conditional formatting with the formula =$D$1=0 but the color of the columns are changing only depending on the value from cell D1. I don't know what is the correct formula. For column A1 I want to check the value from D1, A2 - D2, A3 - D3,...,An - Dn.

Copy Range To Row Below Last Used Cell In Column & Format

I'm trying to Copy and Insert formulated cells from sheet "Add Entry" range A3:AZ4 to Sheet "January" just above the last row containing data (the Totals line) starting in column B. The cells need to remain the same in cell size and maintain the formulas that are inmbedded within them. I want to be able to do this repeatedly by applying this macro to a button. I would also like (if possible) to alternate the color of these cells in an alternating row fashion.

Conditional Formatting: If A Cell Value In Column X Contains The Word "open", Format Row Background To Yellow

I need to set up some conditional formatting on my spreadsheet, however I am having a little trouble with one of my conditions. The requirement is:

- if a cell value in column X contains the word "open", format row background to yellow.

- if a cell value in column X contains the word "resolved", format row background to green.

- if a cell value in column X contains the word "moved" OR "closed", format row background to blue.

Now I have manged the first two on my own, using the conditional formatting tool and using the formula "=SEARCH("open",INDIRECT("X"&ROW()))".

However I am stuck on the last one. I tried...

=OR(SEARCH("resolved",INDIRECT("X"&ROW())), SEARCH("closed",INDIRECT("X"&ROW())))

However this doesnt work. I tried looking at adding VB script in but to be honest I am not a VB programmer and cant really spend too much time on this. fix the final conditional format so it run if the cell contains either "resolved" or "closed"?

I have two spreadsheets, one gives me the beginning and end of civil twilight as a measure of day vs. night. The spreadsheet has Date/Time in the first column, and the value 45 in the 2nd column when it is night. The second spreadsheet has also 2 columns with date/time and body temperatures of a squirrel. I want to get basic statistics (mean and standard deviation) of the squirrel's nocturnal body temperature, that is for times when it is night (value 45). The tricky part is that Date/Time of both spreadsheets are different. The procedure has to recognize that the date/time of body temperature lies between the beginning and end of the value 45 blocks of the first spreadsheet.

We have a list of numbers in a spreadsheet (telephone numbers). The numbers have been put in with () around the country code and hypens separating the rest of the numbers - for example (44) 0111-123456

Is it possible to remove the formatting to just read as a full number e.g 0111123456? I have loads to do and the thought of doing it manually is painful!

Conditional Formatting Of A Spreadsheet

I'm trying to get working is that I want it to auto-adjust what holes I get shots on if and when my handicap changes. This would work something like this:

I have a sheet with the course score card mapped out. Holes 1-18 etc with the stroke index of each hole (level of difficulty - i.e. hole 1 might be stroke index 14, hole 2 stroke index 6, hole 18 might be stroke index 18 etc etc)

I also have a sheet with my handicap cell which I can enter and change accordingly.
On this same sheet are my scores, with holes 1-18. The way I'd like it to work is that if my handicap is currently 8 holes that are stroke index 1 to 8 are given a red (or whatever colour) border. The rest are left alone. If my Handicap changes to say 6, I enter 6 in the handicap cell and this automatically adjusts so that holes with a stroke index 1 to 6 are bordered in a colour.

Large Spreadsheet With Conditional Formatting

I have multiple large spreadsheets of questionnaire data. Responses are as %'s
What I would like to do is use conditional formatting to pick out the top 3 of each set of questions per column not including 0% (if it falls in the top 3). Using different shades of green in the cell background and a white font.

so.....

The spreadsheets are up to 3000 rows long and up to column BB wide. The sets of questions are of random length spaced by an empty row. So question 1 may have 11 parts to it, each taking up a row so 12 rows in total. Question 2 may have 5 parts taking up row each so 6 rows in total...............Question 80 may have 7 parts so 8 rows in total and on and on.

What I have been doing is working down the first column of responses and manually adding the conditional formatting. Then using the format painter to copy across the relevant rows and columns. For example if Question one was from c5:bb26 I would format c$5:c$26 with the top three then use format painter to drag across to bb5:bb26 ...

I have a userform with a spreadsheet in it and I am inserting data into a workbook(my data base) with this application. In the spreadsheet changing event I used "0.00" number format (this is what I need) but the results after I type a number is diferent from what I just typed. i.e: if I type 13.56 there is no problem but if i type 6.56 the number is transformed to 20607.00. I have tryed a lot of methods to stop doing that but all of them failed. how to use decimal number format without this problem

Open a brand new spreadsheet whether the format is set to "General" or "Text" it will not let me enter numbers. For example, when I enter 2007 in the cell it displays 20 07 not really that big of space between the two zeros - but still a space. I can't format this no matter what I do.

I have a column of cells with values - 0.2%, 0.32%, 0.22, 0.5 etc. The cells with % symbol are in ' Percentage, 2 decimal' format while the plain numbers are in 'General' format i.e. column contains cells in either of these formats. I need a macro where I can specify the column and it will select the cells with the % format, convert it to 'General' and multiply the result by 100 eg. 0.2% converted to 'General' becomes 0.002. When multiplied by 100, result is 0.2 i.e. is displayed without the % symbol.

Transfer Data From One Sheet To Another With Different Format And Formatting

create a fixture list from data i have in 2 other worksheets,Fixture Generator and Results.I was thinking the results page would be better to get the info from as it is already filtered (if 16 teams, 8 rows + 2 headers, if 9 teams, 5 rows + 2 headers etc.)The thing is, the filter has it listed in a column.

How would i get the info, conditionally, to enter into the fixtures sheet so that week 1 would be to the left, then week 2 to the right of that, up until week 4, then start a new row of fixtures until it is complete. Possibly having a gap between the first half and the second half ?
