Using Average Function - Cell Location Of Last Number In Column
Feb 6, 2014I have a formula in Cell A1. It tells me the cell location of the last number in column E. So, for example, I input the number 44 in cell e85, the value for cell A1 becomes $E$85.
Let's say I now put the value 33 in cell e86, now the value for A1 becomes $E$86.
I want to calculate the average of the values in column E, all the way from E1 to whatever is in A1.
Here's what I need: =AVERAGE(E1:<whatever is in A1, like $E$85>)
How do I write the AVERAGE formula to make this work?
Populate A Given Number Of Rows Starting At A Specific Location
Jun 2, 2014I have a spreadsheet where I track resources needed on a project. Each resource that is selected in the resource column has a corresponding % avg and an average number of months where the resource is used. % Avg and # of Months are found in a different worksheet.
What I am looking to do is, for example: if resource A will be on the project starting in May 2015 and assigned at 30% for 7 months, I want to populate 30% starting in the colunm labeled May 2015 and copy the 30% so that a total of 7 months are populated. Also, if any of the values change (i.e: the Resource Name or the Start Month) I want to erase all the percentages that were entered in the row. How can I achieve that with a VBA code? I have formulas that retrieve the # of Months and the % Avg already.

Macro Of Formula That Shows Character Location Number Of Text File
Aug 14, 2014I am looking for a way to show the character location number of a text file, possibly in the first row or a macro that I can run at any given location that will give me the location # I am currently viewing.
Currently, when I open the file I can see the character # at the opening screen (see attached file) but they disappear when it actually converts. I would like to be able to keep the character location ruler once the file is opened in Excel so I don't have to manually count.

Oct 27, 2009I'm trying to select a range of cells whereby the range is dependent on the currently active cell. I know you can use the "Activesheet.Range("A1:D2").select" method to select a range where the cells are always the same, but I'm after a dynamic selection where the values can be programmatically altered depending on some other result.
For example, let's say that I make a certain cell active (based on the result of some other formula), and I want to select the range of cells in the adjacent column that is X rows deep. Putting this into context, imagine the resultant active cell is B2, I then want to select the range C2:C10, but if the active cell is E10, the range selected would be F10:F18 (if active cell is X, then range would be Y:Z).
The Offset function would allow me to position the cell based on the current active one, but it doesn't let me select a range. The Range function only lets you choose either hard coded or index cells, e.g. "Range(cells(y,z), cells(y,z)).select", but this is still no good because I'd need to know the index value of the active cell (can this be done?).

I have a macro in which I have named a range of numbers in a spreadsheet, used the "find" function to find a particular number in that range, and now would like to copy some information into a cell in the same row as the found number. However, when I try to move over to the cell that I'm copying to, it only goes to the 1st row in the range that I have defined.
Here's the portion of code I think you need to see. Everything works...it finds a match...but then I don't know what to do from there to get the information to the correct row:

Formula Finding Number In Range To Display Another Number

I am trying to find a formula for the output cell. Suppose the designated cell = 7 due to formulas above it. So that number is always given but can change. I then need a formula for the ouput cell that says if the designated cell is greater than or equal to 1, and less than 10, then the output cell should equal .034. So suppose the designated cell = 18.2. Then I would want the output cell to be .072 since it is greater than or equal to 15, and less than 25. The template I am using has 23 rows of numbers like above. I didn't know how to do it for 23 rows though. If/Then doesn't work because it is 23 statements long (well over the seven limit) and the vlookup only works when the cell is equal to a number and not a range.

I need to specify a date range in Cell I1 and I2 such that the row number for the first encounter of the first date is placed in Cell I3 and the last encounter of the end date is placed in Cell I4. For example, with this data when I specificy 4/2/13 and 4/3/13, I would like to get a 19 in Cell I3 and a 53 in Cell I4.
Matty supplied the formula in Col K for each of these cells. They worked well in the application that I supplied earlier (different locations for these variables), but my real application is as shown here, and these two formula give the incorrect results shown. Both of these formula are arrays.

Add All Numbers In Range To Other Number In Range
Mar 11, 2013I have a range of values in column A, I wish to add all numbers by all other numbers, i.e for a specific value in the range, I want to add it to all the other values in the range, and output the values in a new range.
For example for values 1,2,3,4 in range A2:A5, I want to output a new range the values;
1+2 =3
1+3 =4
1+4 =5
2+1 =3
2+3 =5
2+4 =6
e.t.c, beginning in range B2. No number can be added to itself.
Sum Range By Specfied Number In Another Range

I need to write a formula that looks for example 11630,11635,11640,11647,11750 in column A and then adds all the value in column B that meet the first number requirement. So really if the column A meeting the first condition add the value next to it and then continue the rest of the numbers and add them all together.
I have tried using Sumif but I can only do up to 18 conditions in column A.

Oct 13, 2009Create a formula to find a number in a range. For instance, A1 is qty 1-100, any qty in this range,the cost charges is $10(B1).Whereas A2 is qty 101-200 and any qty in this range, cost charges is $8(B2).
C1 is the cell for me to enter the qty, if I enter 90, I want D1 to return as $10. If I enter 110, then D1 to return as $8.
