Ignore Empty Data Across A Range

Jul 22, 2009

I'd like to compute the average of a few numbers, but only if the data has a certain number of non-null values. I've attached my Excel sheet for reference.

I have relevant data in columns B and D, where B represents a day and D represents temperature. I'd like to average the temperatures together for each day and place the result in column E. However, this must be done only if each day has at least 22 non-null values (null values are represented by -9999).

A perfect example is day 296 - my average is thrown completely off by the existence of several null values in the last half of the day.

In addition to the problem above, I'd also like to only compute the average using the non-null values (ie, if a day has 23 non-null values and 1 null value, I want to ignore the null value in the average calculation - see day 222 as an example).

Trying To Ignore Empty Cells In 2007

Apr 14, 2009

I want to create an excel sheet so that I can price out computer hardware so that I can see what it will cost compared to what we would sell it for I have the basic idea laid out but I'm running into a problem with cells that don't have any information in for pricing. I get a "#DIV/0!" for the formula that i have worked out.

I don't want to change the information in the cells that I have for pricing I just want it to show 0 and call it good. The other isssuse that i'm have at the bottom of the page I'm trying to show the totals for everything.

I did a simple (=F4:F34) to Show the total of all the information in the column but it's showing up "#VALUE!" I know that this is from the earlier error so if I could be shown how to make these errors go away that'd be great the final product that I would like to have is I want to use a macro to transport some of the information to a word document so that I can print it off and show our customers a quote without them being able to see the cost on everything.

Ignore Empty Cells In A Sum / Countif Formula?

Jan 18, 2014

I have a list of assessment scores for students with a matching grade in text form. I want to show the percentage of students that receive "Adv" and "Pro" grades out of the total number of students (cells with data). But I have extra cells in case students are added during the year. I need to have the formula ignore any empty cells and count all of the "Adv" + "Pro" grades divided by number of students with data. I would like to do this by including the extra cells in the formula so I don't need to amend the formula should students be added. This is the formula so far. Maybe there is a totally better way to write this formula.

=SUM(COUNTIF(C7:C60,"*"&{"Pro","Adv"}&"*"))/COUNTA(C7:C60)

I need a formula that will be applicable even when there are empty cells and return the results as shown.

Find First Empty Cell In Range And Copy Data

Jan 28, 2007

I am looking for a formula function or a vba code where:

- In workbook1 find the first cell that is empty between range A7 -
A10,
- In workbook2, in Range G10- G13: find the word "Day1".
- If the word "Day1" exists in cells G10 or G11 or G12 or G13, copy
the particular cell or cells where "Day1" exists to the first found
empty cell or cells in range A7-A10 in workbook1.

Lets suppose cells A8, A9, A10(workbook1) are empty cells, that means
A8 is the first empty cell.
And G10,G11,G12, G13 (workbook2) have the word "Day1"
Then,
Copy cell G10 into cell A8
Copy cell G11 into cell A9
Copy cell G12 into cell A10

Copy/Special Paste Data Within A Range To Next Empty Cell Then Mark The Copied Area

Aug 29, 2008

I'm trying to find a macro that will copy data from the areas of B120:E179 and I120:K179 for example (linked to another worksheet within the workbook) and special paste (Values Only and skipping blank cells) it to the next available open cell up top where basic data entry will be taking place B10:E29 and I10:K29. I need it to only copy/paste the rows with data (skipping all cells/rows with no data) and once it is finished coping I will need it to place an "X" in column M next to the row that it copied data from. I would also need it to reference the data in each row from B to E and if there is an entry say on B14 to E14 that matches it but if I10 to E29 are blank then paste that information on row 14. If it does not match or if those columns are full then paste on next available line.

I hope I'm making sense here. This is for a vehicle tracking log between checkpoints. Each driver and info will be listed on each row. Columns B through E will contain information for each driver: name, badge, #passengers, and vehicle #. The log lists location, time, and destination for outgoing travelers in columns F to H. Incoming info is listed on Columns I to K............

Sum Range And Ignore Blanks?

Jun 25, 2012

I need to perform the following calculation:

=FTEST($A$2:$A$30,$B$2:$B$30)

The problem is that this statistical test needs to have pairs and sometimes the ranges won't all be filled or paired. For example, column A may have 15 rows while column B may have 20. So in this case I would need to only add A2 through A15 and B2 through B15.

Is there any any that can be done?

Adjust Dynamic Range To Ignore Formulas In Blank Cells?

May 19, 2014

Attached is a spreadsheet I am working on that has a series of graphs with defined dynamic ranges. I am having 2 separate issues on 2 different tabs.

1) Ranges named AirRecBra4 (and Bra10); AirComBra4 (and Bra10); AirRemBra4 (and Bra10) are not pulling in data from the correct data points. Instead of using the last 26 data point, they are currently beginning at the top of the column (currently cells 11 to 36 is their respective columns). The formulas are copy and pasted from working offset ranges in the same tab but are reading differently.

2) On the last 6 tabs beginning with Stn Backlog, I want to have defined formulas beginning in cell B119 and continuing downward to at least F200. However, when I add the formulas, the offset reads the formulas as being data and adjusts for that. I do not know how to adjust the dynamic range to ignore formulas in blank cells.

Ignore Duplicate, Ignore Then Paste

I have in column D starting D9, I have numbers starting at 1, and may finish at 100. But there could be duplicates, 1,2,3,3,4,5,6,6,7,7,8,9,10,10,11,12,13,.........

I would like to only copy the range D9 to H (End of column D), ignoring all the duplicate numbers, to another sheet.

So on the second sheet, it would be 1,2,3,4,5,6...... with the data copied from E,F,G and H.

Ignore Null Data In A Sum

Jul 24, 2009

I have two sheets in my workbook: one holds data (Sheet2), the other processes the data (Sheet1). Sheet2 has temperature data for each hour of every day during the year 1997 - about 9000 rows. Sheet1 averages the temperatures for each day together, and therefore has only 365 rows.

However, some of the data is missing - null values are represented by the value -9999. Sheet1 only averages hourly data if there at least 22 non-null values. If there are fewer than 22 non-null values, a message is written into the cell to indicate such. (See day 119 on Sheet1 in the attached file for an example of this)

I have the formula worked out to this point; however, I'd like to add in one more constraint: if a day has 2 or fewer null values, I still would like to average the data, but omit the null values in the average. (See day 118 on Sheet1 in the attached file for an example of this). My formula so far:

Sum Range Above In First Empty Row

For this section I am having trouble with this is what I want my macro to do. I was able to accomplish steps 1 and 2.

1. The data is sorted by Pay period End Date.

2. Then 3 rows are inserted between changes in PP end Date.

3. Total all data in column F and Column G in the first empty row after each date change.

* The number of rows will change from month to month. The constant I have will be the 3 rows after the date change will be empty.

Below is an example of the code that I have. I would like to accomplish this without using the subtotal feature.
