1. Is it possible to have two versions of excel installed on the same PC and would this cause any issues? This would be my preffered approach as it would enable me to do the haevy number crunching in 2007, but use 2000 for the everyday spreadsheets that I would have to share with my collegues.
2. Can you make 2007 default into compatability mode so that I wouldnt accidentaly create a spreadsheet that other couldn't use.
I am a happy user of Office 2007 and a casual coder. I am familiar with most of the basics of coding and enabling macos. However today, when I attempted to add some code to a workbook, I noticed that Excel would not actually enter design mode. Even though the design mode button will toggle and stay in the "on" mode, I cannot access VB property panel for any controls, even standard contols. Also, I am forced to CTRL-CLICK objects to select them and then am only presented with standard "Format Control" option, not object properties.
One other odd sympton... I can use the macro recorder to add code to a control (a checkbox for example), but when I try to manually add a line of code referencing that object (using the default name), the VB editor does not recognize the object. For example the IDE would not recognize and code a line for the "checked" property of a checkbox control when I check the box while in macro record mode.
These symptoms suggest to me that there is something wrong with the design mode "switch".
This all used to work fine, but it's been a while and many MS updates to my Windows 7/64 machine (now about 4 years old).
how do i achieve maximum full-screen mode in excel 2007.... i would like if only main menu tabs are visible (File|Insert|Page Layout...etc)... Also is it possible to hide the numerics and alphabets numbers of Rows and Columns??
I like to make my numbers with no decimals, with a comma. This means I have to constantly press a number of buttons to put them in the format I want. Not too big a deal but is there a way I can make one of the buttons in the number group default to the way I want the numbers to appear?
i changed the shape of "Comment" box with edit shape. However when i right click the updated shape and click on Set Autoshape Default it does nothing. When I insert a new comment it is back to old shape.
When you create a userform in the vba editor, then go to another module, then return to the userform, you see the userform object by default and in order to show the code you have to right-click on the userform and select "view code".
How can I make the "view code" view the default view for the form in the VBA editor? (i.e. so that when the form is selected, I am presented with the code, not the object).
I have Excel 2002. If I start the program it opens with a blank workbook, called "Book 1".
If I then open an existing workbook, I have two Excel buttons in the Windows taskbar: the one I just opened, and the blank one titled Book 1.
At work I have Excel 2003. The blank "Book 1" is also there when I start the program, but if I then open an existing workbook, the Book 1 goes away. I like this way better.
My question is: Is this just the way versions 2002 vs. 2003 work, or can I change a setting somewhere to make Excel 2002 close its default blank workbook when I open an existing one?
I have excel 2007 and I came across the following difficulty:
If I create a graph (or a chart) the default size is "Letter". However, I can switch this "Letter" to "A4" which I need and then create a template. But I always have to manually choose this template for new charts. However switching this any time I create a new chart is a rather bad way to cope with. Even clicking on set as default obviously does not cause to have A4 size for new chart, it still has got size of Letter when adding a new chart.
I assume the solution could be in XLStart templates, but it probably doesnt work for charts that you add. Or at least I didnt find any clue on the internet for this problem.
i installed office 2007 beta version on my computer (for testing) together with the already existing office 2003. now the default program of my excel files is excel 2007 beta version (not excel 2003). can i change this behavior so that when i open an excel file the default program would be excel 2003 instead of excel 2007 and whenever i want to open a file using excel 2007 i do so by right clicking the file & choosing excel 2007 from the open with list.
I have upgraded to Excel 2007 and the PivotTable formats are different. I prefer the old 'drag and drop' formatting, and would like to default to that.
I can switch to the classic format by going to Pivot Table Tools ---> Options ---> Display --> Classic Pivot Table Layout, but I have to do this for each table I create. I'd like this to be the defaut choice.
I've searched the board and someone posted that if you add the Pivot Table/Chart icon to your task bar, that will open the old layout --- it opens the wizard, but the table that is created is still in the new format which does not enable drag and drop.
I've just had Office 2007 installed on my computer and I HATE the new Excel layout. Is there any way I can get the old look back - I liked the old customizable toolbars and I hate these new ribbons.
I know there's one customizable easy access toolbar. Is there a way I can get more toolbars and get rid of these dangblasted ribbons?
i want to make a dropdown list from excel 2007. I try data validation then allow then list then source but i cannot make the sheet 2 as the source of my dropdown list in sheet 1. i uses excel 2007 and my OS is XP.
how to make VBA code work in all workbooks. I created a new module in my PERSONAL.xls file, and added the code, but the code does not work when I open a new workbook. Using Excel 2007.
Essentially all I want to do is create a procedure/function in Excel such as =SQLdata(3), where 3 could be customer ID and then the function would make a connection to SQL and perform the SELECT etc procedure and return the CustomerName in the cell with that formula.
I have excel 2007 and MS SQL where my data is stored. I understand that I need to make the connection to my SQL database, but I really do not know how to do this.
I've been trying to research how to do this for a while now and still can't figure it out. My impression is that this is fairly straightforward in Excel 2010 since the menus and ribbons are easily customizable but not so in Excel 2007.
So far I can get macro shown as a button in the Quick Access Toolbar. But the issue is that I can't organize them or customize the icons.
I have some connector lines that cross over tables in Columns G:K that are connecting tables in $D to tables in $M
How can I make the part of the connector line in $G:$K invisible?
something like:
Code: Sub FormatConnector Dim oConnector as Shape With oConnector If .Connector Or .Type = msoLine If .Connector In Columns($G:$K) Then .Connector.Segment.Visible = False End If End If End with End sub
Using excel 2007. I have a column with multiple items, a lot repeated.....how do I make a to show just one of each item? I want a unique list of my column of repeated items.
How do I make the column headings appear when I'm working on a large spread sheet so I don't have to scroll to the top each time to see where I am. This is on Excel 2007.
Is it possible to take the information below and make one list out of columns F, H and J based on the common information in column C? For example, group all the 18s in a list, followed by the 44s.this is excel 2007
I am creating a userform in Excel 2007 which requires a user to pick their name from a drop down box then press Ok, what i want to do is disable the Ok button until the user field has been selected.
I have a spreadsheet on sheet 1 with a list of customers and their information. So on column A I have the customer number (i.e. k968, e37, p528,...), on column B i have the customer's name, on column C the street's name, on Column D the house number, on column E the zip code and finally the city on column F.
Right now there are around 600 customers in this list.
I have made a userform with a combobox in which I want to select an existing customer (pulled from the spreadsheet). On the same userform I have textboxes (customer number, name, street, number, zip, city). When I select a customer in the combobox, I want this customer's info to show up in the textboxes. I want to be able to change the info and hit Next to store the changes in the spreadsheet. When I do not select a customer from the combobox, I want to add new info in the textboxes and hit Next to store this info as a new customer. The userform also has a delete button. Then I select a customer in the combobox, this customer (and it's info) should be deleted from the spreadsheet when i hit Delete. So the spreadsheet is variable in length.
I need to figure a way to make to cells with dates equal each other if the day, month and year are the same but are placed into a cell at different times during the day. "Making Date Now () = (06/29/09) In another cell". Therefore, A1= Now() and E11 = 06/29/09
I want to find out the most frequently occurring value for the below example. Based on the example below I want to know Column A = Sales, Column B = s682, which value is the most frequently occurred.
