Nested If And Offset Formula From Dropdown List?

Apr 7, 2014

I have two lists ("fulllist" & "code" - A1:A20 is a data validated dropdown list of "fulllist". I want B2:B20 to return a list item offset one column to the item selected in A1:20

So, if A:1 drop down equals "asphalt paving" I want B:2 to insert a code from a list on cell right of asphalt paving.

Something like =IF(B31<>"fulllist",=OFFSET("fulllist",0,1,,),"") This returns an error. I have a feeling I need to use match. I can't seem to find an answer to this and I bet it is fairly simple.

OFFSET / Data Validation - Dropdown List Not Working

Aug 21, 2012

I have the following function in cell (table 2 column C) where I want to find a contact name from my table TMI if 3 criteria are true (client, account, NAM) For each contact I have 1 true combination of client/account/NAM but for each client/account/Nam I can have several contacts.

{=OFFSET(TMI[[#Headers],[Contact]],MATCH(1,(TMI[Client]=$B$1)*(TMI[NAM]=C3)*(TMI[Account]=B3),0),,COUNTIFS(TMI[Client],$B$1,TMI[Account],B3,TMI[NAM],C3),1)}

The function is working well but shows only the first contact name if I have 3 contacts for the same client/account/NAM. (I pressed Ctrl+Shift+Enter)

When I press F9 on the function, it shows all the contact names! so they are somewhere.

Hence, I have copied and pasted this function into data validation / list in the source but it came up with an erreur.

Table TMI:

A B C DClient
Account
NAM
Contact
Comments

[Code]..

Table with offset function:

A B C D

Chi
Account
NAM
Contact name
Comments

[Code]..

All client, NAM and account lists are dynamic !

Dynamic Dropdown Menus With Offset Formula

Sep 29, 2011

I have a table in cells A1:B11. I have two drop down menus in cells G3 and H3. When I select red in G3 I need Bob, Sam and Sarah appear in the drop down menu in cell H3. Instead, with my current formula, only Sarah appears in the drop down in cell H3. When I select green in G3 I need Tommy, Bob, Sandy, Carl and Phil appear in the drop down menu in Cell H3. Instead with my current formula only Phil appears in the drop down in cell H3.

I linked cell H3 to the defined name Names which equals
OFFSET(INDEX(Sheet4!$B:$B, MATCH(Sheet4!$G$3, Sheet4!$A:$A,0),0),COUNTIF(Sheet4!$A:$A, Sheet4!$G$3)-1,0).

What should I add to this formula to make it work correctly?

Formula Based On Value Returned From Dropdown List?

Jan 21, 2014

I want to perform a calculation that is based upon user selection from a drop down list. In a simple for instance it would be something like:

Cell A1 has a drop down list containing 'Apples' & 'Oranges'

Cell A2 asks for quantity

Cell A3 needs to have a formula that calculates the price based on the user selection from A1 with each option having different prices (prices set and do not require manual input)

Would an 'If' statement cover this and, if so, what would it be?

Formula To Get An Average Based On A Dropdown List

Jul 14, 2009

Im creating a spreadsheet at work, which has a drop down box with the options of open and closed in it.

I also have a column for length of time of the claim, what i need to do, is now find a way of getting a average length of a claim, but only to see the closed option from the drop down box.

for example,

row 1
open date - 02/06, closed date - 01/07, dropdown box - closed, life - 29
row 2
open date - 10/06, closed date - n/a, dropdown box - open, life - -39400

as you can see from the example above, i cant simply do a average of the whole column, as would read the open ones as well. so is there a way of doing the formula, but telling it to only see the open, or closed ones?

Selecting Named Range From Dropdown Validation List To Use In Formula?

Jan 18, 2013

Basically on a summary page, on sheet 1 say I have a formula which picks up the unit cost (I have this as an array across 5 years)

What I then want to do is multiply this by a volume driver. I have a list of these drivers on a seperate page, so for convenience lets say DRIVER_01,DRIVER_02 etc. These are also 5 years arrays.

So what I want to do it be able to select which driver I want to use for volume on the summary, from a drop down box I have set up, and then the formula pick up that named range, and not just recognise it as a text cell.

I need the ability to change the driver in the future, hence the drop down box. I can also get the unit array part to work fine, I'm just struggling to get this driver array to work..............

Excel 2013 :: Formula To Auto Delete Number In Dropdown List When Number Appears In Another Cell

Apr 27, 2014

I'm making a Excel 2013 spreadsheet that has formula in a column that auto enters a number 1-40 when something is entered to the left of that cell. There are 300 rows in the spreadsheet. I would like to make a drop down list in a column cell to the right that would delete that number in that cell from the drop down list. For example cell C1 has 39, that 39 then is deleted from the drop down list. C2 has 22 in it, click on the drop down list cell and it shows 1-40 less 39 and 22.

Creating A Dropdown List Using Matching Data From 2 Columns To Populate The List

Jun 11, 2013

I'm creating a spreadsheet to keep track of my costs of production in an online game. Within the game there are a range of spawned resources that appear for only a short time before being unobtainable these resources have specific types that is shared between multiple spawns of the resource but each resource spawn has a unique name.

My first worksheet lists all the resources and their various qualities and the later worksheets are meant to allow me to choose from a list resources matching the requirements of the item I'm looking to craft. The example i have shown in the second picture requires Tatooinian Fiberplast and Lokian Wild Wheat to craft so in the Chosen Resource column I would like to have a drop down list allowing me to select the named resource type i would like to use - for Tatooinian Fiberplast the only thing on the list should be Omnitwixi and for the Wild Wheat it should show Fizi and Krad

Data Validation List - OFFSET Function

I have the following formula in a Data Validation List:

(CHOOSE(B7,D1Array,D2Array,D3array,D4Array,D5Array,D6Array)),0),1,COUNTIF(CHOOSE(B7,D1Array,D2Array, D3array,D4Array,D5Array,D6Array),J2),1)

In B8 it is the formula =VLOOKUP(B7,LookupTable,2,0). and the lookup array is this 1$H$112$J$113$L$114$N$115$P$116$R$11

So the value returned in B8 will be a the start reference for the OFFSET function. This works but it retuns blank values and not the values in the arrays.

IF AND Nested Formula..?

Feb 20, 2009

I have a rather large formula that I put together and it's shown in column 'C' in the small sample file I have attached. I'd like to add one more criteria such that I avoid duplicate solutions in column 'C'. i.e. I only want the first occurrence of a group.

The formula works fine 'bucketing' the first entry. If I have an solution in C I want the formula to not give me another answer if the cell immediately above has an answer. In other words, rows 11 and 15 would be blank because rows 10 and 14 have an answer.

I've tried inserting another criteria in the AND statement, like ISBLANK for the cell above, but I can't get it to work. What am I doing wrong, OR is there a simpler solution?

I am trying to get the formula to check if the contract number matches on the following row, and if it does, to check if the Product Description matches the header of that row (if it's a window, conservatory) if so, copy the quantity cell into D1, however, it's copying it even if the contract numbers do not match and I do not know where I am going wrong!!

Bascially I need to know for each 'date window' if the window has been met or missed. There may be up to 30 different dates per person (in my example sheet I have up to 9).
