View 3 RepliesI have a workbook that updates from external source and creates sheets depending on a cell range.
I have put tab 1 and tab 0 on either end of where the new sheets will be inputted, will never know how many sheets
What i need to happen is if someone fills in "complete" in A7 in my "summary" sheet then the values in row 6 in all the other sheets get hardcoded. This needs to happen from A7 down to A26, so A8 = complete then copy row 7 etc
This is what i have so far
I get compile error here ........Sheets(ArrSh(1)).Activate
Also need it to work for all the other rows.
Sub hardcode()
'
'Sheets("Summary"). Select
If Range("a7") = "complete" Then
'
Sheets(Array("1", "0")).Select
Sheets(ArrSh(1)).Activate
[Code] ......
I'm trying to select an x number of random selections within the selection.
Basically, lets say A1:A100 is selected, im going to have a inputbox asking how many to select, you put 10 in the inputbox, and then it randomly chooses 10 from A1:A100 and highlights them
This seems easy enough, i can do the input box and know the random function. just not sure how to set the beginning point and the ending point with Cell locations and then have it highlight those selections... a for loop I'm guessing?
I am trying to write a macro to:
1. Randomly selects 50 rows from 834 on "worksheet 1". There are only two cells per row.
2. Then, it clears "worksheet 2" and "worksheet 3".
3. From each selected row in "Worksheet 1", it splits the two cells and copies the results into two different worksheets, one column per sheet.
4. The rows in the two new worksheets should be congruent (i.e. same selected order from worksheet 1). Keeping the order the same is important.
This is what I have so far:
--------------------
Sub Macro1()
Dim rng As Range
Dim iRow As Long
With Rows("1:834")
Do
iRow = Fix(Rnd() * 834 + 1)
If rng Is Nothing Then
Set rng = .Rows(iRow)
Else
Set rng = Union(rng, .Rows(iRow))
End If
Loop Until rng.Areas.Count >= 50
End With
rng.Select
Selection.Copy Sheets("Sheet2").Cells(Rows.Count, 1).End(xlUp).Offset(1, 0)
End Sub

I have an attendance file w/least 30 sheets. 29 of the sheets are for each separate group. The other sheet is the main one where I need to collect information like "total participants in attendance" and "total members in group" Then I divide those two and get the percentage of attendance.
The sheets containing the individual groups info are set up like this... (1=they were in attendance)
GROUP 1
Name / January / February / March/
Jess________1________0________1
Ryan_______1________1________0
Joe ________1________0________0
----------------------------------
total P ____3________1_________1
members___3________3_________3
% _______100_______33________33
The main sheet looks like this
Group / Jan. Participation / Jan. Member total/
Grp 1 ________3_____________3
Grp 2 ________8_____________10
Grp 3 ________7_____________10
---------------------------------------------
_____________18____________23
% total-__________________78.2%
I know I can manually go through and link the sums of participation and total group size into the main sheet, but I have a lot of workgroups and need to do this every month, is there an easier way? I am willing to change the set up of the sheets.
i have a workbook that has several worksheets. i may create new worksheets at any time. i want to create a macro that will select a certain field of cells and copy it to a random spreadsheet of my choosing. i know how to make a macro that copies cells and pastes them to a different worksheet, i just want the macro to ask me which worksheet i want it to copy to.

Wrap Text
Freeze at A2

I tried the following code but it is just formatting one sheet.
Sheets(Array("New", "Closed", "Open", "Open_Beg_Month", "Closed WAD")).Select
Range("A2").Select
ActiveWindow.FreezePanes = True
I'm trying to select multiple sheets and print them out. At this time the code is only printing out the "Work Order" sheet. I'm guessing it's something to do with the PrintOut command trying to print the active sheet and not the array?
Code:
Sheets(Array("Work Order", "Timesheet", "Communications")).Select
Sheets("Work Order").Activate
ActiveSheet.PrintOut Copies:=1, Collate:=True
I have also tried the following but it just prints out every page in the workbook.
Code:
Sheets(Array("Work Order", "Timesheet", "Communications")).Select
Sheets("Work Order").Activate
Sheets.PrintOut Copies:=1, Collate:=True
I've also tried the PIDOOMA approach with this and failed
Code:
Dim TechnicianPack As Variant
TechnicianPack = Sheets(Array("Work Order", "Timesheet", "Communications")).Select
Sheets("Work Order").Activate
TechnicianPack.PrintOut Copies:=1, Collate:=True
I've got folder of 44 files - all copies of each other apart from the data entered in the cells - which have 7 worksheets in them all named differently (Each one is a different day of the week - this is the work of someone else that I have to work on !).
I want to copy the data in the columns A-R of each worksheet from row 2 to the last one with data in column M into a single file so that I can then then work on all that data in a single file..

How do I select all the sheets that are Marked Y in column B when the button is clicked?
I have a excel sheet from a supplier of mine, that has a mixture of text, and numbers and more importantly "Custom format cells" that have prices in them. I need to apply a multiplication formula to each price, but they are all in different rows and columns, and it will take forever to type a formula into each cell.
Is there a way that if I can select all these cells, to add a global formula that will update all these cells?
I have a workbook with 26 sheets, labelled A to Z. Column A in all the sheets have names from rows A6:A35.
I need a macro or a code to extract all the names from each of the 26 sheets and paste it to a new sheet 'Names' under column A, such that names starting with 'B' paste under all the names 'A' and so forth till 'Z'.
I am having trouble getting the selection of sheets to work. I have a workbook that has multiple sheets and one constant sheet (Summary). There is code to create new forms in this workbook and insert them after the Summary sheet. These forms all have a date input that is formatted as a date (mm/dd/yyyy), these dates get modified on the day the form is created, there may be any number of sheets created during this process. I have to print the summary sheet and only the newest forms created. I need a code to select sheets to print based on the date input of a user for each form. This is what I have so far:
VB:
Dim i As Variant
i = Range("B5").Value >= InputBox("What date to start PDF from? Format = mm/dd/yyyy")
Sheets(Array("i")).Select [code]....
If the dim can be taken out and just included in the line for the array that would be fine with me. The cell "B5" is where the date is located in each form. I want to input a date and the macro will select the sheets where the date is equal to and greater than the date entered. The Summary sheet will always be included in the print set. I have a dialog box for setting which printer to use - this file will be used at different offices and therefor the printers will be different and it will also allow to create a PDF if desired.
How can I select sheets in a workbook based on the premise that the sheetname does not have the letter "Q" in it? New to forum, so apologies if format is not kosher.
I have a group of 50+ workbooks which are all set up in the following format:
-Contains 30+ sheets.
-Sheet names are varied, but follow a pattern. I try to keep the sheet names consistant on all workbooks so that it is easier to reference, but other users make this impossible.
-However, I managed to keep two things consistant: There are two categories of sheets. In one group all sheetnames have a "Q" in them and in the other group all sheetnames DON'T have a "Q" in them.
Here is my problem: I need to run a macro to perform retative tasks on the GROUP OF SHEETS WITHOUT A "Q". To begin the macro I need to select these sheets and copy them to a new workbook, but since the actual sheetnames are varied, I am having trouble coming up with a flexible way of selecting sheets. The closest I have come is using a IF ... LIKE ... THEN statement, but I can only get it to work to select the sheets with a "Q" in the name and not the opposite.
I am working on a Random Cycle Count Generator that provides random SKU#s based on 3 separate columns of SKU listings. The user clicks a button to generate the SKU#s to cycle count for that day. What I would like to see is a date stamp in the columns next(B,D,F) to the referenced SKU listing(A,C,E) based on which SKU#s are generated. This will let me see the last date that the SKU was generated. I would also like it to automatically save after generating.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got several worksheets that all have the exact same layout that a user will enter unique information in to each worksheet. Then I've got a final worksheet that I want to have a button that the user can click and when they do, it will look to each worksheet and do the exact same process for each worksheet as follows:
It first looks to see if the worksheet is visible. If it is, I want it to copy the range A5 to K5 down until it gets to the last non-blank cell in column C. The first non blank cell that will be referenced will be C7. Then I want it to paste this information into the range A5:K5 on the final sheet named Sheet8 with the same values and keep cell formatting such as width and height, font. If the worksheet is not visible, it skips the sheet.
I want it to do this for each visible worksheet, placing the next visible worksheet info under the previous visible worksheet info. My current code as shown doesn't do that. It requires that something be inSheet8 A6 before it will even paste, then it pastes the info from A5:K5 but it doesn't do just the values nor does it keep the formatting. What I mean about not doing just the values is some of the info that needs to be copied comes from a drop down they can choose from and it copies the actual drop down menu. Also, it seems to copy all of the ranges from each sheet and paste it into just A5:K5 on Sheet8 and overwrites each other instead of pasting Sheet2 just below the information from Sheet1. So the only information shown after the entire process is completed is the information from the last visible sheet.
If Worksheets("Sheet1").Visible = True Then
Sheets("Sheet1").Range(Sheets("Sheet1").Range("A5:K5"),
Sheets("Sheet1").Range("C7").End(xlDown)).Copy
Sheets("Sheet8").Range("A5").End(xlDown)
End If

I would like a macro that select all cells based on multiple criteria. It's a big sheet, but I've made it smaller in the following example.
In row 1, there are 2 headers, in B1 (electricity) and C1 (gas) In column A, there are 3 houses, in A2, A6 and A10. The blocks of cells in between (e.g. B2:B5) have 2 headers, 'period' in B2, and 'account number' in B4. B3 and B5 have a list of options in them.
I want to select cells that meet certain criteria. Either electricity or gas, and either period or account number. So, if in cell D1 I choose electricity and in D2 period, I would like to select B3, B7 and B11. If I choose gas and account number, I wish to select C5, C9 and C13.
I have been thinking about a name selection tool that would automatically pick a few names for internal audit. I can handle the useform launch and other basics but here is what I see happening.
1. The empname! sheet contains a list of all the company employees, with employee number in column A, names in column B and an "X" or blank in column C.
2. The main sheet called auditmaster! contains nothing currently
3. When the code is ran the userform prompts the user to select how many individuals to audit by entering an integer in a textbox.
4. If the user selects 5 for instance, the code will run and will select 5 random employees for internal audit. It does this by first checking column A of the empname! sheet and seeing what the highest and lowest numbers are. This would create the range for the random function.
Next if there is an "X" in column C of empname! sheet, those employees numbers are excluded from the random choice.
Following this the function will select the appropriate number of individuals to audit using random again and place their names/number on the masteraudit! sheet.
The detail should be placed as the following, employee number goes to column F, name to column G. Starting with row 10. The code should also number the results 1 - however many were selected for audit in column E.
I want to random select one of the following,red,yellow,blue,green,orange & white. (as text) in cells A2:A1001.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI need a macro that will select a random number between 1 and 6. ie select the number of a dice. It needs to input 1 random value into one cell and another random value into another. Like the dice values of a monopoly game.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have an excel sheet attached that I would like to customise to become a random seat picker. I wanted it to select a random cell representing a seat and highlight that cell in someway (e.g. change the background colour or text colour) and display the data within in in a cell in the middle of the sheet.
I have used formula to achieve the later half of the problem but am unsure how to highlight the cell. my current solution uses f9 to refresh the data. Ideally I would like to attach the behaviour to a command button. I have attached the excell sheet and have highlighted the problems I am having.
How to copy and paste 50 values randomly from column A in sheet1 to Column A in sheet2.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI would like to use the random function on a range of select numbers. I tried randbetween() but it won't work for me since my range of numbers are not in sequence (e.g. 1,2,4,6,7,8,9,10,21). Using randbetween() might result in numbers not within my range..
View 2 Replies View RelatedSay I have a list of 100 numbers (in column A). What formula would I use to have Excel list (in column B) 50 random numbers from the list of 100 or column A?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've got a list of items (formatted alphanumeric) in column G starting at row 2. I would like a cell formula that would randomly select 30 items from this column and place them in column H starting at row 2. One caveat is that the list must remain static once created. If the Rand()function is used, it recalculates whenever the worksheet is updated so that might be a problem.
Cell formula to do this? A VBA solution would be OK as well.
This is what I am trying to achieve:
1) Prompt user to select a file (or multiple files)
2) Copy the files that meet certain criteria to a folder
My attempt (fail):
VB:
Sub FILES2SFTP() Dim FileNames As Variant Dim I As Integer Dim fso As Variant Dim Data As String ChDrive "G:" ChDir "G:TEST" Data = InputBox("Enter the date", "Enter the date", Format(Application.WorksheetFunction.WorkDay(Date, -1), "yyyymmdd")) Set fso = [code]....
I get error 424 object not found in this line:
If fso.getfilename(FileNames(I).Name) = ("Name1" & Data & ".xls" Or "Name2" & Data & ".xls") Then
I have a spreadsheet with a heap of raw data in it. I need to perform a search based on a customer name, then return certain columns from the raw data IF the customer name is matched in one column, AND a special flag name is matched in a second column. The customer name is always a single entry for the purpose of the query, however the special flag must be checked against a possible list of values in a table. I know this is hard to explain, and I can't add attachments to my posts, so I have created a sample document and placed in in dropbox:

I am using MS Office 2010. I want to count---on multiple sheets---the number of times that a given cell is greater than another cell if and only if a third cell is equal to a given value. I want to do this for 4 sets of data on each sheet. I thought I had it figured out with this formula---
=SUMPRODUCT(COUNTIF(INDIRECT("'"&$H$1:$H$43&"'!$R1"),2*(AND("'"&$H$1:$H$43&"'!$E1">"'"&$H$1:$H$43&"'!$F1"))))+SUMPRODUCT(COUNTIF(INDIRECT("'"&$H$1:$H$43&"'!$S1"),2*(AND("'"&$H$1:$H$43&"'!$G1">"'"&$H$1:$H$43&"'!$H1"))))+SUMPRODUCT(COUNTIF(INDIRECT("'"&$H$1:$H$43&"'!$T1"),2*(AND("'"&$H$1:$H$43&"'!$I1">"'"&$H$1:$H$43&"'!$J1"))))+SUMPRODUCT(COUNTIF(INDIRECT("'"&$H$1:$H$43&"'!$U1"),2*(AND("'"&$H$1:$H$43&"'!$K1">"'"&$H$1:$H$43&"'!$L1"))))
but it returns a value of zero each time. Clearly there is an error in the formula.
Here is some background:
-- $H$1:$H$43 is a block of cells that has the names of the sheets in the workbook
-- E1 and F1, G1 and H1, I1 and J1, K1 and L1 are the four groups of cells that I am comparing.
In the entire workbook, I want to add 1 (counting function) only when:
R1=2 AND E1>F1 or
S1=2 AND G1>H1 or
T1=2 AND I1>J1
U1=2 and K1>L1
on each appropriate sheet in the workbook.
I am looking at ways to select 81 winners at random from a spreadsheet with 5000 + names on it. I have tried assigning each cell with a value between 1 and 81 and then removing the duplicates but i cant seem to get excel to pick 81 unique numbers, instead it will pick no number 1, or two number 70s.
I have managed to get a macro to pick 1 cell at random but cant get it to pick across the whole range of 5000.
I need the selected rows to be displayed on a new sheet. The idea being that I have a quiz with hundreds of questions and I only want a random selection to appear when I execute the macro. I plan on hiding the original questions and only displaying the randomly selected ones.
Here is the original code from the previous post.
