I have defined a name for a data range in an excel file. Now I want to use the same name in different excel file. I tried through various sources but not sure how to do that. Current Soln: I am copying the data from the source file and re-defining the names for the range. But this seems to be duplicate and creates unnecessary space.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a workbook with many spreadsheet named Sheet1, Sheet2 and so on. Each sheet is filled completely upto 65536 rows. This data is being picked up from a CSV file. In this file there are sites with each site there is a assciated set of data. What happens is the data that extracts data does not differntiate between sites and when it reaches to the end of worksheet it splits the data into next sheet. So I am trying to create a macro to check each spreadsheet starting with the last sheet in the work book for example last sheet in the workbook is seven it should go to sheet6 and if there is a blank row after row 64000 it should cut all the rows and move them to sheet7. Then it should goto sheet5 and do the same and keep on doing it until it reaches sheet1.

Even when he tries to rename the files, they will not stay with any uppercase letters....I have searched all over and cannot find a solution. If he sends ME the file, I can open it in excel and save it with any cases.

As I am looping through files in a folder, I would like to determine if the file is a text file.
The problem is that all extensions are variable in a pattern such as .078, .051, etc.
In this instance, the extensions are numeric, but I'm trying to figure out a way to handle that is all encompassing to include *.txt, *.tsv, *.csv, *.prn, etc......
How can I handle these efficiently?

I am using Microsoft Excel 2010 and Microsoft VBA 7.0 on my system. I would like to eventually create a PowerPoint and insert charts generated in the Excel workbook. In the meantime, I cannot get the basic PowerPoint created.
The line in red is highlighted blue when the compile error "User-defined type not defined" message box appears.

I have a excel file having some data and also I am having PDF file having some data, now I want to match the data in the excel file with the data in the PDF file.
Can we match excel file with pdf files?, this for comparing the data in the excel with pdf file having the data. Is it possible to do it?
I save my excel sheet onto my desktop automatically using a code with a specific name + current date.
This works fine.
I then open up that xls file and extract data + import data to it etc..
Which works fine.
My question is, in the end how can i go about zipping that excel file to the same naming convention and same location where it is being opened from?
I have a multilevel XML file. Attached my1.zip (XML files cannot be uploaded as is, hence I had to zip it). When I import the XML into excel, it creates multiple columns for the multilevel data. However, I need the multilevel data as additional rows. I have attached another excel file sample.xlsx which shows how excel imports the XML and how I actually need the data to be.

Is it possible for Excel file to be open with 2 password? Like, if password is equal to "Password1" the file can be edited but if password is equal to "Password2" the file will be open as read only, if so, VBA code.

But, once opened, I do not see any of the tabs and the name of the file does not appear at the top. I did ALT F11 and can see the tabs in the VBA but I'm missing a step to make the tabs reappear. I would like to have some vba code that will open 'todays' file. Here is what I have so far:
An Excel file with the date founction in A1, =today(). I'd like to have a button that reads cell a1 and opens an excel file in a specific folder.
I wrote this code to open an excel file when a button is pushed. I also have another piece of code to close the excel field when another button is pushed. The problem: the code to close the excel only works on my computer. There is no error message, but the file doesn't not close on others' computer. Can you please advise on a solution?
